Liridon Leci, Gjakova City Stadium and Zahir Pajaziti Stadium

Hello GiantSnowman. I forgot to tell you about the case of Liridon Leçi, City Stadium (Gjakova) and Zahir Pajaziti City Stadium! I need to change the name, because that the real names of these are Liridon Leci, Gjakova City Stadium and Zahir Pajaziti Stadium. I cannot move the page! LluciBOY (talk) 15:43, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Viktor Gyökeres

Hi GS, just popping in to find out what's just happened with Viktor Gyökeres' page? From where I'm standing it seems that you PROD'd, deleted and then restored the page in order to give yourself the creation credit for it. Not an accusation but rather an inquiry because I'm hoping that wasn't the case. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 18:39, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Regarding the first part, that's fair enough and I figured that was the case. My concern now then is that, when looking at the edit difference, the page didn't necessarily require merging. The sandbox edits alone weren't sufficient for an article yet you are now credited with creation instead of me. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 18:49, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
You would certainly hope right. I've never had an issue with anyone else working on pages I edit or created or claimed ownership on them so such a suggestion would be unfounded. I do, however, prefer being credited for work I've done. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 04:19, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
It is apparent from X Tools that I'm no longer listed as creator. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 09:07, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
No it doesn't, but sentiment plays a role. And yes, my edits are still in the page history and I'm credited but I'm still not quite sure why it needed to be merged when all of the merged information was already on the page, especially considering 8000-odd bytes of someone else's work (mine) is now also credited to you. I'm not petty enough to say that's the reason why you did it, I know it isn't, but that has been the result either way. Maybe this all petty, but it's not the way things should be done.Liam E. Bekker (talk) 09:20, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Maybe so, but my point remains. Enjoy your power trip. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 10:49, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Harsh. And how did I go straight to level 2? I've never received a warning before… Robby.is.on (talk) 09:19, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi GiantSnowman, not sure what your issue is with Cardiff categories i.e. Category:Footballers from Cardiff. Cardiff is a city and a unitary authority too, much like Bristol and other city areas in the UK. There's no such place as the District of Cardiff so your reversion reason is a bit odd. Mohamed eisa

Hi giant snowman, the changes I made is the goals and appearances when eisa was at Greenwich borough and also the correct amount of goals at Cheltenham. I am Eisa’s representative and I hold all the true facts, would you be able to change this for me? Midi18 (talk) 18:37, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

It is not a claim, it is the truth. Can you call me to discuss this? If you read the greenwich borough website it will tell you Mohamed Eisa scored 57 goals in 100 games and as for Ben Sampayo he did not play for hemel Hempstead Town, Dover and has played 18 games for Heybridge, scoring 1 goal for them. My number is <redacted>, if you can please call me and I can tell you the truth as some of the so called reliable sources are wrong. Midi18 (talk) 21:13, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Curses

Patrick Cryne deserves an article and your redirecting him to iSOFT (especially since he is much more known and revered as the Barnsley FC owner) is going to severely hinder his chance of getting an article. Leaving him as a redlink alerted everyone checking the Deaths in 2018 page that he doesn't have an article; Now only the few who click on his name will see this. BurienBomber (talk) 16:16, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Any chance of semi-protection on this please? The current club keeps getting changed to Kerala Blasters without any refs. Other than a couple of mentions online saying there are talks, I can't verify this. There's been no announcement from the club via OS or Twitter. Thanks, Nzd (talk)

Marios Ogboe squad number

Apologies for re-adding Ogboe's squad number without leaving an explanation - hadn't realised that you'd removed it until I re-added it! It was up on Hamilton's social media and is now being used in the BBC article for the Accies/Hearts match this evening. Exxy (talk) 19:55, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

Why did you accuse me of vandalism on Paul Rooney when the totals were all wrong and I was putting them right? After you said my edit was vandalism, you went on to put the stats back to how I left them

Marios Ogboe/Ogkmpoe/other

Hi Giant Snowman hope all is well. Don't know if you have seen it but Hamilton have confirmed that the new strikers surname is Ogkmpoe, seems to have been various spellings about. Ref:www.twitter.com/acciesfc/status/956842889778225152. I haven't amended anything yet as I see you created the page, under Ogboe (which was the name initially given). Hi GS, can you have a look at this article please. A couple of IP’s have added back in loads of uncited statistics about this derby, which as well as being unreferenced and showing no context, possibly also fail Not Stats. Thanks. Eldumpo (talk) 09:02, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman: Can we AfD West Block Blues, Manjappada got redirected, surely West Block Blues should be redirected too Bengaluru FC under the same issues, simply passing GNG doesn't mean it should be a seperate article from the main subject. Re: Luke Amos

Hi. Regarding Amos' involvement in Tottenham's first-team. Check this article here from BBC Sport. Why do you think the BBC have decided to include this piece of information in a four sentence article? Why do you think 1000s of other articles about footballers include their first ever inclusion in the first-team of a professional football club?

You also state that the Soccerway article does not source anything about Amos combining both the loan deal and playing for the Tottenham U23 development squad. In the list of fixtures per the source provided, it clearly displays him spending time on the bench at Southend alongside actually playing matches for the Tottenham U23 side.

Sat 11/02/17 LEO Millwall 1 - 0 Southend United View events More info

Sun 05/02/17 PL2 Liverpool U23 3 - 2 Tottenham Hots… View events More info

Sat 04/02/17 LEO Southend United 3 - 1 Scunthorpe United View events More info

Mon 30/01/17 PL2 Tottenham Hots… 3 - 1 Southampton U23 View events More info

This is actually quite unusual to happen (and is probably noteworthy for that reason alone), but it is fully sourced in the reference I have provided (that you've reverted twice citing the source as not providing this information) and it also serves as an explanation to the reader as to what Amos was doing in the first two months of his loan spell at Southend. Do you not think readers will wonder why he joined Southend on a short-term loan deal in January 2017 and did not play a competitive first-team match for the first two months of a four-month loan? You have to realise that this is why the article was a stub, if you do not allow users to expand on anything then it will always remain this way.

You acted in a similar manner to this on the Danny Newton article, which I noticed you also created. It took you at least two months to stop reverting everything I was editing. I actually ended up having to do a series of bulk edits in the middle of the night so you had absolutely no choice but to let it stand! Come on, you can see I'm improving these articles (take one look at the Newton article now compared to when you were reverting everyone's edits!). Sure, you created the article, but surely it's time to drop the ownership mentality. SBFCEdit (talk) 15:48, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Yes, once again it was mentioned in the source provided! You can see his name included in the team-sheet. Both pieces of information are in the article now so I'm happy with that. Other editors are improving and expanding articles and you're simply ensuring they remain as stubs by reverting - these edits in question are an absolute example of that. I do not doubt for a second that you will know more than me regarding the ins and outs of Wikipedia (you certainly have the Wikipedia jargon stuff sussed!) but perhaps it's a case of slightly losing sight of the purpose of Wikipedia when you're withholding key information for the sake of it. Anyway, good to see it's all sorted now. SBFCEdit (talk) 16:17, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Fletcher/van Marwijk

Hi, just to note that I've reverted your edit on Ashley Fletcher as the ref was wrong. I assume this was a mistake. Also, could you keep an eye on Bert van Marwijk please? I've had to revert unsourced BLP content several times recently. Might be worth protecting.. Cheers, Nzd (talk) 12:40, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Yup. Nzd (talk) 17:10, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for checking. I went through RPP as I had to revert again after the example above and I was just about to finish for the night. Not sure if it's one person IP-hopping or a group of mates having a laugh.. The protection is only for 2 days so I'll give you a shout if it starts up again after that. Julia Reyes Taubman

Hi, you created a redirect at Julia Reyes Taubman, but the target page, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, doesn't say anything about the person, thereby making the redirect incomprehensible. If you aren't able to write an article about Julia, the page it redirects to should at least mention her and in doing so state what she has to do with the museum. Are you able to add something? Thanks. — Smjg (talk) 17:55, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Philip Tinney

Wait this isn't correct. Transfermarkt is one of the most reliable sources about soccer, it's extremely used as source and if I'm not wrong there's also a template about the Transfermarkt's profile of the soccer players.

Valentinenba97 (talk) 00:17, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Well I din't know it and I'm sorry for that, but that is not the only source who says that he was born in Liverpool (there's also this one http://www.nasljerseys.com/Players/T/Tinney.Phillip.htm) and Transfermarkt is perfect about football matches played and transfer fees and so it's strange to think that it's not considered reliable.

The article Sam Zurick has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. PRehse (talk) 15:00, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, just wondering why you took the Saint-Maur caps/goals stats out of the above article when you cleaned it up? Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 17:11, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Oh, OK. Surely there must be a better way. I thought we went with verifiability, i.e. what was presented in the source (in this case soccerway or footballdatabase.eu). Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 17:21, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
Agreed, but neither is implying that he has nothing. Which is why I think there must be a better way, maybe involving a footnote? In the mean time, I'll just fill out a Career appearances table when I get chance. Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 08:55, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for response, a reference has since been added for the formations. There’s still no source for the colours though; a second editor re-added that info (they have a brief/curious edit history, [3]), so I don’t propose to remove the colours again. Eldumpo (talk) 12:27, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Ladale Richie

Dear @GiantSnowman I edited the Ladale Riche page and cited two pieces of information: (1) The Montego Bay United club webpage, which has his Birthdate - His birthday is clearly stated there ( http://www.mbufc.club/player/ladale-richie/ ) (2) The actual passport of the player (obtained through said club). Can you kindly REVERT my edits (I can do this myself, but since you have made an issue, I need to explain my edits). Hi GS,
Is http://www.national-football-teams.com reliable reference for - oops, I almost said "the s-word" - footballers? On a admittedly cursory review, I don't think so.

A search on the FIFA website turns up no mention of Zenke.
I have looked at the websites of English language Nigerian newspapers, and can't find any explicit mention that Zenke has played for the Super Eagles.
What are your thoughts about this? Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 11:21, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Women's leagues

Hello GS, Is it still the case that only the US women's leagues are considered fully professional? I have come across pages for women players in the English league who have not played a senior international. E.g. Coral-Jade Haines. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 14:05, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I looked there earlier; there's a caveat that it might not be up-to-date. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 14:53, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
Right, I was just checking... Is any action necessary in respect of Haines' page? (It's out of date too...she's at Spurs on loan). A lot of the rest of the Birmigham Ladies squad seem to have pages too. Some have played internationally at under-XX levels but very few are full internationals. Same probably applies to other clubs too, I expect: I've not really had the opportunity to check. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 17:28, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Peer review

Hi GiantSnowman, would you be so kind and review this? It has been almost a month now and nobody made a review yet. Regards, Akocsg (talk) 01:19, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi GS, in this edit a list of hat-tricks has been re-added to the article, but there is no evidence this kind of detail/list is being tracked. Information on hat-tricks has also recently been re-added to the 2017 article. Thanks. Eldumpo (talk) 22:40, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

The sources appear to just be match reports of the games in question, which presumably confirm that hat-tricks occurred, but there is no evidence of a source that is listing all hat-tricks in the league, thus confirming notability on this sub-topic? Eldumpo (talk) 15:41, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Use of "Continental" in Career statistics table

Re your reverted edit on Dion Malone. I disagree that the column "Other" should be used to show Continental appearances when the Template for a player profile shows a separation between "Continental" and "Other" tournament stats, and this format helps to clarify where appearances where made.

Secondly, I disagree with reverting back using two 0's instead of "-".If a players club doesn't participate in a League Cup, Continental competition or another tournament that can be covered by "other", surely it's better to fill the column with a "-" rather than using two 0's, as again this helps to differentiate between players whose clubs couldn't play in those tournaments and players whose club did play in those tournaments but the player didn't feature. --Dave logic (talk) 11:04, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Perhaps instead of deleting things you should find a reference, or just add a citation needed tag? It took me all of thirty seconds for example to find that the stats you deleted on Choe Myong-ho were legit... True, sometimes it's hard, and sometimes there isn't anything in English, but, better to leave it and tag it CN than delete it without making any effort at all 2Q (talk) 16:32, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Because, for one, AGF that nobody's going to add anything blatantly false, and if it *does* per chance happen, deal with it then, when it happens. Secondly, because it is completely unproductive. 2Q (talk) 16:40, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Then deal with it when it happens... that's actually what got me into working on DPRK football articles - I discovered that someone had added imaginary teams, then later admitted it on the talk page, and then those imaginary teams were still referenced on other pages. Who's going to add false information about how many essentially irrelevant goals some essentially irrelevant footballer scored in some essentially irrelevant competition? (I say that as someone who loves football)... but the point there is, especially for something as easily verifiable as goals scored in FIFA-sanctioned international competitions, don't delete it - ref it yourself, or if you don't feel like it, just tag it. 2Q (talk) 16:55, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

My bad on the MOS vio, I didn't notice that was being re-added. I just saw that there was something legit removed, so undid it. And for the record... I undid your change, and I was in the midst of finding the necessary references when you sent your initial message (okay, I got distracted reading articles about Cambodian football on Phnom Penh Times)... so yeah. AGF and be a little patient - maybe it's being worked on right then, give it an hour or so. 2Q (talk) 17:03, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Brazilian footballers

Hi there. Which tournements are included when you have to update the infobox for Brazilian players? It's quite confusing, as I'm normally using Soccerway to update it. I actually don't now which of the 100 tournements the players are playing in, I have to include. Looking forward to your answer.Fodbold-fan (talk) 16:35, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Matt Sánchez

Hello, I've seen you've removed my Matt Sánchez modifications. I'm a sports journalist in Puerto Rico and been following the careers of most of the players since they began playing in the national teams. I've tried to make his bio as complete as it can be and I can assure you that everything I say on it is true and I've even interviewed Sánchez a couple of times to get the information. The way you edit his bio is so incomplete and you left it with a lot of mistakes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JavierAlejandro23 (talkcontribs)

Greek verbatim nuisance

More addresses from this utter liability, they continue to engage in overlinking like no tomorrow and write verbatim stuff from sources, and (don't know if that is retrieved from the Greek sources or not, but it's not encyclopedical) also continue to write things like "unfortunate/dramatic loss" and what not.

The IPs i found are these (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/37.6.109.121, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/46.190.34.178 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/46.190.60.255; in Pedro Pérez Conde, at least, they are fully going at it!). Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 16:41, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Not very hopeful of a reply, and chances are they'll NEVER read the message as their IP is as dynamic as can be - do they do it to avoid scrutiny or does it escape their hands is the question - but left this in the talkpage of the last address i mentioned (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:46.103.164.134#Storylines), dunno if you wish to reinforce it or correct/add anything to the original content.

Would you mind deleting the first version of File:Aubrey Fair (English footballer).jpg please? It came out bigger than I needed. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 14:42, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

I uploaded the image, then realised it was bigger than I'd expected so I uploaded a smaller version. As it's using the non-free historic licence, we should only really host the version that is needed for the article, meaning the original version should be revdel'd. Can you do that or is there a process? Thanks, Nzd (talk) 10:14, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, revdel probably wasn't the right term as I can still see both versions of the image. I've found a tag. Nzd (talk) 11:43, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

About Delvin Pinheiro Frederico -what do you think about this article?

@GiantSnowman and Sir Sputnik: Like it or not, you two are widely regarded as the mavens and "go to" people for - oops, I almost said "the S-Word" - football articles. I would appreciate your opinions on the Delvin Pinheiro Frederico article. Shirt58 (talk) 12:13, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

@Shirt58 and Sir Sputnik: - he has not played in a WP:FPL per Soccerway (so fails WP:NFOOTBALL) and has not received significant coverage (also fails WP:GNG). Conclusion - non-notable, should be deleted. GiantSnowman 12:19, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I have a conflict of interest with the article Peggy Johnson, so probably should not do this myself. Ivano Baggio

Hello, I received a message from you, I just registered here and I am still learning how to do things, so your help is much appreciated. First, you removed my changes in Ivano Beggio, because I didn't add a reference. So question, do I have to add a reference for every edit I make? Or how do I know when I should add one for my change not to be removed? In general, I didn't add a reference because it was just a few sentences edit. And I noticed other articles don't add references for every word or concept it's written, so I am not clear how it should work. Second, you deleted my changes in Template_(word_processing). It's strange, because there I added a reference. And the reference was in line with what I wrote. Or at least I thought so, because I have seen another reference to a templates source, so my reference to a source of resume templates should be consistent with my edit. Very confused... would appreciate your help explaining. Otherwise I would waste a lot of time editing articles if my changes are removed. Thanks! Tonydc8 (talk) 14:32, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

It's a debatable point, certainly

I'm afraid I know nothing about how the MLS works, sorry. It could also be loosely compared to a modern loan: although the parent club doesn't get anything for the use of the player, they do get him back at the end of the season whether they want each other or not.

Infobox-wise, probably either option can be argued for. A retained player who didn't accept the terms offered by the parent club was out of contract, but he was still tied to that club and would only get paid if he found a non-league club to do it. Personally, I think it probably better reflects the player's status to use the year he finally came off the books of the league club. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:13, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

All my articles are sourced as you plainly can see. Forgetting to put a source in on one article, and doing so as soon as you notified me, does not warrant you reverting every single one of my edits. Petty, childish behaviour. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CraigS1969 (talkcontribs) 20:54, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

I'm not getting into an argument with you, child, but I've made hundreds of edits and missed a few sources. Ok, go through every article and remove those. What's more reliable...

...than actually seeing it happen? Absolutely ridiculous. 2Q (talk) 09:57, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

So... what, are you suggesting a list of every goal he scores be started? That'd be quite the long list for a guy who scores as much as he does. But beyond that... how much does it actually matter which of his goals is in that video, so long as it's the correct season? This is so very ridiculous... 2Q (talk) 10:14, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

I've found plenty of issue with Soccerway, too, when it comes to "less-important" countries... they rarely bother with league stats... also, there's frequently accuracy issues with their club names/locations, player nationalities, etc etc... they're great for the bigger countries/leagues, but not really better than anything else for any other leagues/countries. Even though one could scour things together for stats in not very much time looking at news media reports from the given countries, they rarely do... I *would*, but where to put the couple dozen links to post-match reports in this or that mainstream media source in Cambodia or whatever country?... is it better to have a blank page? I don't think so... 2Q (talk) 10:30, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

To explain my reasoning: the source, as already tagged, is a permanent dead link. I made efforts to find another version, archived etc but no joy, so it's entirely useless. The restored opening section therefore contains a single sentence with the DOB already in lead, the POB already in Infobox and a ref which is dead. It looks terrible IMO and really doesn't need to be there as it provides nothing useful. Crowsus (talk) 08:07, 27 March 2018 (UTC)

International goals

Hi, I came to ask why it is just international stats of players that I edit that you are reverting. Some of the goals are against Confederation-recognized matches. Yet you do not erase goals from more notable players such as Thomas Müller's goal against Gibraltar. That match was not FIFA-recognized. It was recognized by the confederation (UEFA), but so were some of the goals I add. DasGermanMoses (talk) 19:52, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

@Footwiks: Is there a reason that you posted this here without pinging me, the other person taking part in the discussion? You understand that I agree with you right? That Soccer in Los Angeles is a preferable title to History of professional soccer in Los Angeles for a more complete scope?
GiantSnowman, please participate in the discussion if you'd like. Just for some context, the original article is and has always been in poor shape and from the beginning focused almost entirely on the professional game. Rather than moving the article (along with its relevant editing history), a new article was created with essentially the same content. I redirected it as a redundant fork since it contained all of the same information at the time. Since the issue about the scope of the article has been brought to life, for context I have already requested a technical move. If this is not of interest to you, then I'm sorry to have bothered you. You might know the story already: Steaua Bucharest lost its name and logo and became FCSB, while the Romanian Army "restarted" the football department of CSA Steaua last year and introduced it in the fourth league. As of now, FCSB is credited as the successor of FC Steaua by both UEFA and the Romanian Professional League (LPF). However, the fans of the fourth league claim that their club has 21 league trophies and the UCL from 1989, which has not been confirmed by any reliable source (UEFA or the Romanian Justice Court).

Despite this, User:TPTB called me a "vandal" when I added on his CSA Steaua București (football): Revision history that "However, according to UEFA, FCSB is the successor of Steaua and they hold the records of the former club, including the European Champions Cup won in 1986." This can be easily verified on the UEFA.com link, where Fotbal Club FCSB has a picture from 1989 with the UCL.

He also changed the link from Template:UEFA Champions League winners and it seems nobody blocks the guy or protect these pages! Can you help out with this issue please? 8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 13:00, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Olimpia Râmnicu Sărat -> CSM Râmnicu Sărat

Hello,

Can you help me to move Olimpia Râmnicu Sărat to CSM Râmnicu Sărat? CSM Râmnicu Sărat is an old name of the club, but in the summer of 2017 the club returned to this old name and also the old logo.

Hotărârea Comitetului de Urgență din 24 august 2017 (Emergency Committee Decision of 24 August 2017). frf.ro - Romanian Football Federation announce on its site.

CSM Râmnicu Sărat profile. frfotbal.ro - another confirmation of the change on Romanian Football Federation competitions and schedule site.

Facebook of the team - changed from Olimpia to CSM, also the logo is again the old one, white-blue with the CSM trademark

Twitter - same changes confirmed.

I proposed this change some time ago on the talk page and someone opposed, without any real reason and the move was canceled.

I would be grateful if you could help me. :) Rhinen

I re-listed the RM on the talk page. Some years ago, Olimpia Râmnicu Sărat was known as CSM Râmnicu Sărat, more exactly when the club was in the second league, you can see here (http://www.romaniansoccer.ro/divizia_b/tables/2009_10.shtml). Then the club was re-organized after financial problems and changed its name to Olimpia Râmnicu Sărat, name used until the summer of last year. In the summer of 2017 before the start of the 2017–18 season, the executive committee of the Romanian Football Federation approved a new change, Olimpia back to CSM Râmnicu Sărat, the name used years ago, decision that can be find here (http://www.frf.ro/comunicate/comunicate-frf/hotararea-comitetului-de-urgenta-din-24-august-2017-id22716.html). "Aprobă cesiunea dreptului de participare în competițiile organizate de FRF intervenită între AS OLIMPIA RÂMNICU SĂRAT 2010 CLUB SPORTIV, club de drept privat și CSM RÂMNICU SĂRAT, club de drept public. Prin urmare aprobă afilierea provizorie a clubului CSM RÂMNICU SĂRAT și dezafilierea provizorie a AS OLIMPIA RÂMNICU SĂRAT 2010 CLUB SPORTIV" (Approves the transfer of the right to participate in the competitions organized by FRF between OLIMPIA RÂMNICU SĂRAT 2010 CLUB SPORTIV, private law club and CSM RÂMNICU SĂRAT, public law club. Therefore approves the provisional affiliation of CSM RÂMNICU SĂRAT and the provisional decommissioning of AS OLIMPIA RÂMNICU SĂRAT 2010 CLUB SPORTIV); In fact it seems that they have 2 different associations, a private one (Olimpia) and a public one (CSM) and probably for being legal sponsored by the Municipality they changed again on the old society (CSM) which is a public one. It is a strange case, but the main idea is that they have now the old name and also the old logo. Then I proposed this change on the talk page and someone opposed arguing that in English is the same?!...obviously Râmnicu Sărat is the same, because is the city name, but Olimpia and CSM are different names, with different meanings and different logos...Rhinen
Thank you very much for your help and support. :D Rhinen

Ha!

I don't think that this reversion is any helpful:) Best,~ Winged BladesGodric 14:29, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

WP:GNG - Ante Bakmaz

Hi GiantSnowman,

As the author of this article, I have taken notice of your concerns regarding it. Seeing as it was still in the early stages of writing and editing when the discussion started, I would like to check with you whether some of those concerns have since been addressed.

As the Maltese, Latvian and Lithuanian leagues are not listed on Wikipedia's list of fully professional leagues, there is little that can be changed there. However, in reference to WP:GNG, I have since added a number of additional resources that discuss the player outside of typical match reports etc. Do you see these sources as enough to satisfy WP:GNG? If not, what else could be added to satisfy the criteria in your opinion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stankovic10 (talkcontribs) 17:18, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

Veselin Jelušić

Hi, I do a change on the page of Veselin Jelušić after I found an information "by deduction". You can see on this page [6] that the concerned coach is 59 years old. "2018"-"59" gives "1959". Sometimes a photography of the coach is readable just like for [7] (Ivan VUTROV from Bulgaria): "2018" - "79" gives "1939". And so on. I let you consider this source available or not. Friendly Yours. I am Shanon11 and registred in French langue Wikipedia.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanon11 (talkcontribs) 13:45, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

(by talk reader) @Shanon11: Be advised, the rules on English-language Wikipedia might be stricter than what you're used to on French wiki. I don't think sortitoutsi.net is a reliable source so we can't use it. Further, using arithmetic is often allowed but it gets close to original research. We would prefer a real source that actually says when the subject was born. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:51, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello. Help improve the article Maureen Wroblewitz. Thanks you very much.116.102.56.175 (talk) 08:18, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello GS, A 'prod' has recently been removed from this page without adding an actual reliable reference (Transfermrkt was added as an EL). I'm not certain whether it woud be correct to restore the prod in these circs. (I know it can be replaced if no refs are added at all) or if it would now have to go to AfD? There may be a case for CSD A7?.. fails NFOOTY and GNG IMO. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 13:47, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

 • Note: Sir Sputnik has subsequently added Soccerway. Eagleash (talk) 13:49, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
 • And now restored the prod. 'As you were'... Eagleash (talk) 14:04, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. I think all is 'well' now. Eagleash (talk) 14:20, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

'Youth' stats

Hey GS, just noticed your edit on Elliot Embleton regarding youth stats. Where does wiki stand on the EFL Trophy? Are those games professional games? I know premier league teams supply under-23 teams, but every other team in the tournament is professional. I have seen numerous times a player who has played a handful of games in a pro league but then moved to an amateur/semi-pro league and the stats are still (in my opinion), obviously recorded. Should we be creating a row with, using Embleton as an example, Sunderland as the club, with the EFL Trophy coming under the 'other' column? Because this technically wouldn't be true, as he represented the under-23 team in this competition. Hope this makes sense! Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 17:21, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

You added Julius Bliek twice. I've removed the duplicate, but you might have been intending to put something else instead? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:21, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Gastón Sauro

The edit to the page for Gastón Sauro was not practice. The information was sourced directly from his club's page for him. They do not line up with the stats you replaced with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Banukab (talkcontribs) 18:37, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Saw this when reading Kante below... The discrepancy is because Soccerway counts post-season games in with regular season, as they do with FL playoffs and suchlike, and his club/MLS page doesn't. I don't tend to work with US-based players, but I'm guessing we shouldn't be including post-season games in the infobox? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:23, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
@Banukab and Struway2: - yes, regular season league stats only in the infobox... GiantSnowman 12:26, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Kante4 here

Hey, it's me Kante4. Somehow my password does not work anymore and my e mail address was an old one which is not working anymore (dumb from me). Any way to get a new password (E-mail you my new adress or other stuff)? Yesterday there was a failed attemp but not from me and at mediawiki i had to create a new password which does not work... 109.91.152.164 (talk) 08:18, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Can i send you (or whoever needs it) my new one and get a new password send to that? Would be pretty sad to start over again... Changed yesterday and does not work, odd. 109.91.152.164 (talk) 08:31, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
I tried to order a new one to my new adress but that does not work as this was not entered in my preferences i think. 109.91.152.164 (talk) 08:38, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)There's a thread at WP:HD#Failed attempts about this (also threads elswhere). Seems to be an organised attempt at disruption. Eagleash (talk) 08:40, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. ;) Hopefully it gets worked out and the request and reset password from my part was not too dumb, as the mail adress is not connected to my account on here. But at least if they send one i should get a mail with a new as this one works. 109.91.152.164 (talk) 08:48, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Have this one created for now, with an template showing that it is an alternate account and a little info that it will not be used anymore IF the old one works again. If this is not allowed, tell me and i will stop editing per this account directly. Don't want to have any problems (as you know per my history ;)). Kante44 (talk) 11:49, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Maybe the other one works later on, if not then this is the new one. Any chance i can get the autopatrolled/rollback/pending changes/move rights back? :D Kante44 (talk) 12:02, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Do i need to request them like always or can you do something about those "rights"? ;) Kante44 (talk) 16:36, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Ok thanks. (Still hope for my old account). Kante44 (talk) 18:27, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello sir GiantSnowman!

How are you? I'm Chuck. Reccently I have been editing and viewing 24/7 live new pages including recent changes. I feel; being rollbacker(or new page reviewr/autopatrolled) would be something that would be efficient for me via my contrb. - You may feel it is a slightly too soon, however I have a great ambition and if I could get one of these rights to increase my contrb efficiency rate, well that would be splendid. I also have a suggestion that I could go on a test run with your suppervision, and via that you'll see how good I use the tools. You can also see that I have nominated many speedy deletions and also edited new pages instantly. I plan on having a great ambition and impact and I really hope you see what I want to do here. --KnowledgeChuck (talk) 10:59, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello sir GiantSnowman!

I will await with Rollback if that is what you think is the best for a few week(s). Instead may I till then be autopatrolled, as you see I am now starting to create many stub articles within the football project, and being autopatrolled would be an ease for me, under your supervision of course; may you via your admin right autopatroll me at the very least? Regards, --KnowledgeChuck (talk) 10:09, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

Got it done. Just a heads up. You can remove the message of course, just happy. :D Kante4 (talk) 15:17, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

Kwame Boateng

Apologies for hastily moving Kwame Boateng (English footballer) to 1998 births without a reference. I have learnt my lesson, found a reference and will check whether information is referenced in future before changing a category. Teratix (talk) 13:42, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Mass edit reversion

Are you seriously telling me you'd rather have grossly inaccurate content than accurate but unsourced, or do I have to add 72 separate Tweets from the player's clubs for each time they play? I'm going to fix the appearance stats for every page you've reverted because they were accurate and you can't disregard facts just because adding a new Tweet as a source for each appearance isn't valid, even though it's the only source for leagues with a lack of online coverage. VampireKilla (talk) 15:08, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

I've added a link to the GFA fixtures/results page for all players (and FA Full Time for English based players). That's the only source for it. If you want to go through every individual match page like I have done all season to verify that what I put is accurate, be my guest. VampireKilla (talk) 15:40, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Altname

Just a heads up that I have restored the nickname in the Anthony Wilding lead that you removed with this edit; MOS:ALTNAME applies when the nickname occurs in the article title. Obviouly there will be others but those are ones I'm aware of.Crowsus (talk) 08:12, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

No no I believe you, just wasn't the way I had seen it in those other articles. To me it would be useful for these to be a total for all games he played for the club, but I suppose that can go as a line of text after the weekend when he packs his bags. Cheers. Crowsus (talk) 08:33, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Unsourced?

First I don't have a lot of experience on this wiki. You reverted my edits for no reason. How to add a reference for a category? Is that possible? Are you a admin? Jadranko Topic and Franjo Dzidic are a refounders of Croatian sports Club Zrinjski, and it is a obvious they are Croats and they have a Croat names. Windhunter (talk)

Dear admin, Ok, I will expand articles soon with referencies for categories, my edits were obvious for me, but I understand that for strangers it is not obvious.Windhunter (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:27, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Blocking Alexplaugh12

Hello GiantSnowman. I understand you blocked an active member of WikiProject Nigeria. I don't know what led to Alexplaugh12 being disgruntled with Wikipedia, but a quick scan on his recent edits suggest to me that you both have history. From my little knowledge on how admins usually operate, it would have seem more appropriate if you had referred the case to another admin to look into since you are primarily involved in it, instead of making the block. I haven't gone through his additions properly but one thing I noticed is that in most of your reverts there have been no edit summary, or explanation for them. This might be because he wasn't heeding to your initial advice (something I am yet to see). But please can you kindly give me a single scenario, where Alex added info without source or violated policy, then you reverted him and explained the reasons for your undo, then he ignored you and continue to do it again? Let me also add that I'm not in any way in support of the manner and mode of expression from Alex, I believe there are other ways he could have showed his displeasure towards an unfavorable situation instead of using vulgar words. But I can understand that editors can get destabilized when they feel their sacrifice towards something they are passionate about is not being appreciated. I will also understand if you decide to ignore this post. Regards. HandsomeBoy (talk) 06:41, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

Artikel on Kevin Volans

Hi GiantSnowMan. On 18 April, you deleted 9,846 characters from the article on the composer Kevin Volans, mainly commentary on his music and an extended list of works. Why did you do that? Do you really think "remove unref" is sufficient reason? Think twice: in this case, quite a few articles on WP would have to be deleted completely. The fact is, the information you deleted may have been unsourced, but it was correct. The work-list was by the composer himself, there is no external source to refer to, and it superseded all other work-lists you can find on the web. It was the only correct work-list.

I therefore have to ask you to please restore everything you deleted. Next time, before you do such a harmful edit, first use the Talk page to enquire where the information is from. Unfortunately, since Anomie Bot was also active after you on 18 April, I can't just "undo" your edit with one click. Therefore I ask you to undo the damage you have done yourself. –– Aklein62 (talk) 14:34, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

Juan Carlos "la pajara" Chavez

Hi. Some days ago I did a change in the Juan Carlos Chavez page. Juan Carlos Chavez is a well-known ex-soccer player in Mexico, and now a coach. When he was a player he was known for the nickname of "la pajara", and that nickname remains until today. You may see it in some articles like this: http://www.espn.com.mx/los-angeles/blogs/futbol-mexico/_/id/1380684?entryID=1380684 or even in his facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PajaraChavez/

I didn't made the edit to vandalize the page (as you told me). I did it because almost all the mexican soccer fans known his for the nickname. Maybe it was an unconstructive edit, because the nickname is not important (as you told me) Well, then you may remove other nicknames of players such as "Sir Charles" for Charles Barkley: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Barkley, "Black Panther" for Eusebio: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eus%C3%A9bio, or "The Professor" for Greg Maddux: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Maddux.

I'm not going to edit that page again. If you want to do it, good for you. If you want to keep it that way, also good for you. The only thing that I wanted is to stop the treatings for fellow users (Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges) because the one person who was wrong it was you.

Thanks.

Help

Can you please delete this page? Category:Albanian Cup finals -- Sadsadas, (talk), 28 May 2018

User: Ronalditos58815738

Thank you for finally doing something about this user. I reported this user various times but it always went nowhere, to a point that I just gave up. The problem with this user is that he (or she) edits logged out, he does it now and did it when he wasn't blocked. For example, 189.139.26.38 recently has edited the exact same articles this user edits, so does 189.139.91.46. I reported the user in the past but was told users are allowed to edit logged out, he was also warned. The user adds unconfirmed transfers and loans to Mexican football club articles, and with this being the busiest time of they year in Mexican football transfers, it's going to be very hard controlling him. Is there a way all Mexican clubs articles can be temporarily protected or is there another way to control the user from adding unsourced transfers? GoPurple'nGold24 05:56, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Regarding My Created Pages

Hallo. Firstly I admit that I made "rookie mistakes" by creating several pages which does not meer the criteria of WP:NFOOTBALL. My intention was purely to give player information to other fans. But okay, I admit my mistake. Therefore, I stop creating page for players who have not played in tier 1 league based on list. However, I am little confused with several pages which should satisfy the requirement of WP:NFOOTBALL. In a deletion discussion, it is stated that 1 game is not notiable enough, while in WP:NFOOTBALL, it states that: "Players who have played, and managers who have managed in a competitive game between two teams from fully-professional leagues, will generally be regarded as notable". I found this case on page Saddam Hi Tenang and Rahmanuddin (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Rahmanuddin). I am sorry, I just want to listen from you, whom I believe has broad experiences in wiki. Thanks Fathul.mahdariza (talk) 13:07, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

Would you please delete this page? Category:KS Teuta Durrës managers -- Sadsadas, (talk), 4 June 2018

Could you take a look please? Lots of unsourced edits adding Villarreal as his new club (he is training with their youth team to get his fitness back, there is no indication he has signed or has any intention of doing so). Thanks, Nzd (talk) 12:52, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Thanks. Just to update, Goal.com (and some others) are reporting he is there "with a view to earning a permanent contract". I'll add something to the prose about him training there, but his Arsenal contract hasn't officially ended yet.. Nzd (talk) 13:08, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Cristian Martínez Borja and Cristian Alexis Borja.

Greetings, I have noticed you have moved the pages Cristian Martínez Borja (América de Cali player) and Cristian Alexis Borja (Toluca player). I would like to request that, at least, the article for the former player is moved back to its previous title, on the following grounds:

 • Both players do not share the same first surname: the América de Cali player's one is Martínez, whilst the Toluca player's one is Borja, therefore referring to Cristian Martínez Borja solely as Cristian Borja is inaccurate.
 • Cristian Martínez Borja (with both surnames) is used by nearly all sources covering this specific player to refer to him, making it WP:COMMONNAME. On the other hand, Cristian Borja or Cristian Alexis Borja (Alexis is not a surname) mostly refer to the Toluca player.

Thanks for your attention, and if there is a stronger reason than the ones aforementioned to keep both articles under their new titles, please let me know. I will understand. CodeMars04 (talk) 16:37, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

I have indeed heard of WP:BRD, because you cite it just about every time you disagree with someone who touches an article you started.

I can't quite get my head around your removal of the 11v11.com reference. By "it simply duplicates an existing ref", you mean we can't have different references in an article because *one* covers that content? Soccerway also covers the statistics, shall we replace the Soccerbase refs with it too? No, because a wider range of references shows that a wider range of research has been done. And I'm not advocating citation overkill, we don't need more than one reference per piece of content.

When you go on the NFT page, you'll see the title they give is "Mugabi, Bevis", not "Bevis Mugabi". Pedantic, yes, but still, that's the title the site uses. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:09, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Alec Mudimu

Just wanted to give you the heads up on reverting your last edit on Alec Mudimu as an edit summary isn't big enough. Soccerway lists him as 28 (8) but are counting the Europa League play-off match as a league fixture which isn't a normal league match. They are also crediting him with a goal against Bala Town on 30 March, however it seems that the goal was actually scored by Matty Owen - Bala Town match report, Cefn Druids match report and actual highlights on S4C (although they actually list Mudimu but the goalscorer is clearly not him in the video). Thanks. Kosack (talk) 15:08, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

I'm not sure why you're so obsessed with following the documentation to the letter when the format I'm using is actually neater. Plus, if you'd care to look further down the list of changes my edit made, I actually made various other alterations that I can't understand why you would want to revert. – PeeJay 09:34, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Of course neatness is a valid reason to make changes. It helps other editors find the parameters that go together and reduces the amount of whitespace in the edit pane so people don't have to scroll down as far to reach the article's body text. Sure, if that was all I had changed, you'd be within your rights to have a go at me, but you're absolutely wrong to blindly revert those changes. As it is, I made more changes to the article than just to neaten up the infobox, so you were even more wrong to revert me. – PeeJay 09:38, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
Maybe so, but that doesn't excuse your failure to properly look at what you were reverting before doing so. – PeeJay 09:43, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
Isn't that the point? You didn't see because you didn't look. – PeeJay 09:45, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
So what changed between you seeing my alterations to the referencing and wording the first time and after I explained them to you? Because the end result appears to be simply that you didn't like my changes to the infobox and the changes below didn't enter into your consideration. Is your goal simply to get me to write more detailed edit summaries so you don't have to actually read edits before reverting them? – PeeJay 09:51, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
Surely you understand that some edits are too extensive to summarise succinctly and even experienced editors will use shorthand when the changes they've made can be covered by a single phrase, word or abbreviation. What do you do when someone doesn't leave an edit summary at all? There's nothing here that says you have to leave one, after all. So did you look at the entirety of my edit or not? – PeeJay 11:02, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
I have trouble believing you given all the other circumstantial evidence. The fact remains, though, that you made several totally pointless reverts. – PeeJay 17:43, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
Not sure what you're having a go at me for. My edits were constructive. Yours weren't. – PeeJay 18:25, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you moved Category:FC Levadia Tallinn managers out-of-process. Sometimes it's less work that way, and not remotely contentious, so WP:IAR gives a little scope to skip the CFD process. Category:Deportivo Rayo Cantabria players

I was going to bring this up at FOOTY. At present, the Racing de Santander B article includes the history of Rayo Cantabria which was separate from the 1920s to 1993 when it was formally absorbed as their B team. The current Rayo was established in 93 as a replacement of the separate club. I don't really have an opinion on whether old Rayo became Racing B and new Rayo is separate, or if old Rayo became new Rayo and Racing B is separate, but there should be some consistency with the attribution: either old Rayo players should have the Racing B cat (albeit it looks confusing), or the historical tables should be moved to the 'new Rayo' article and nothing should be attributed to Racing B prior to 1993. What I did check due to my uncertainty was check out the Real Madrid homegrown players who came through at Plus Ultra - their category shows at Real Madrid Castilla players although the club didn't exist under that name at the time. So that would seem to follow the same lines as old Rayo = Racing B. Shall I post it to the project for consensus, or I will do whatever you suggest, quite happy with either outcome (but leaving as it was would be illogical)... ? Crowsus (talk) 15:36, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

I had a look at the Spanish version but it didn't seem to say when it became closely linked to Racing (I don't think it would have been from the start) and I'm not really familiar enough with the process of separate farm clubs becoming formal B teams to know if their history is considered normally to pass over, end or pass to a phoenix if one is launched. Crowsus (talk) 15:57, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

I thought it be good enough start to move User:Govvy/Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to the page, but it's currently a redirect, I did add db-6 down earlier, but I don't think RHaworth ever reads the rationale's on DB. Maybe you can sort it out, cheers. Govvy (talk) 16:33, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Cedwyn Scott

Hi GiantSnowman,

Please elaborate on what is considered a reliable source. Someone has created this page about my son using unreliable sources. Personal information has been incorrectly cited which could prove detrimental to my son's career.

I can provide a birth certificate proving the information currently cited is incorrect but cannot work out how to attach it because Wikipedia is not easy to navigate.

Any future queries about Cedwyn Scott can be directed to either myself, or his father, DarkBlueScott (who has also unsuccessfully attempted to correct the inaccuracies)

Cedwyn Scott

On the contrary GiantSnowman, we as his parents, are the best editors of the page about Cedwyn because we know facts and truths and are not wholly reliant on incorrectly written articles. With your legal background you will fully appreciate the importance of factually correct information.

Publishing something seemingly trivial as an incorrect birthdate could prove very costly to the career of someone who works within the parameters of an age group but despite us knowing the truth and attempting to rectify the error, you kept reverting to the incorrect information based on a factually incorrect article.

Wikipedia is potentially a dangerous platform with anyone able to post and edit pages with factually incorrect information but because someone believes an incorrect article over the subject's own parents (and yes I am aware anyone could claim to be someone's parent) it remains as truth on a publicly accessible forum.

Onlygirl inthehouse (talk) 16:23, 18 June 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onlygirl inthehouse (talkcontribs)

(by talk reader) @Onlygirl inthehouse: Wikipedia does not care about what's "true." I once wrote an article about a woman and she complained to me that the article said her daughter was born on a Monday, when her daughter was born on a Tuesday. I told her in no uncertain terms that the LA Times said her daughter was born on Monday, and that's how the article reads. Verifiability is a policy here on Wikipedia and we insist upon it to avoid hoaxes. Since you have admitted you have a conlfict of interest, you would do well to not edit that article again. As per Talk:CSA Steaua București (football)#RfC on this article's content conclusion, CSA Steaua București (football) should not display any of their claimed honours or original history of Steaua Bucuresti or the article. FCSB, known as FC Steaua București, is considered by UEFA, Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, and more than three thirds of the Steaua fans as the real club. Everything is linked on both articles as proof. However, this user removed the content on FCSB's page and proceeded to add the honours on CSA's page again, despite knowing about the RfC. I rollbacked both pages because I considered it vandalism, as per the RfC. I think this guy should be stopped from editing thee pages again. We keep rollbacking him and he comes again. It's up to you, but I'm sincerely tired of his vandalisations. Cheers! (BTW, he will probably accuse me of lying again, but everything is sourced) 8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 22:01, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

The lead date-range vs. full dates thing

That might actually be worth RfCing, at WT:MOSBIO, and with pointers to the discussion posted at WT:MOS, WT:MOSNUM, and WP:VPPOL, maybe also at WT:WPBIO. I argued previously to retain the wording you removed (and may have even written that version of it; I forget), due to the number of editors in the "leads must be as concise as possible, no matter what" camp at the time. I don't think they're steering the ship any longer. Clarity is more important than brevity, especially in an era were over half of our readers are accessing the site via mobile devices at least some of the time, and many of them do not read beyond the lead and infobox unless they're looking for something specific.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  18:12, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

really, you revert all my Edits of the past weeks? I hope it is no problem, if all the article stay wrong, because unfortunately I have not the time to edit them twice. Future-Trunks (talk) 13:05, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi GS. Before I make another possibly controversial move, would you support the move from Frederick Maddison (footballer) to Frederick Chappell? He was born Chappell, and played under that name for England in 1872. He changed his surname to Maddison in February 1873, under which name he played for Oxford University in the 1873 and 1874 FA Cup Finals, and for the Wanderers in 1876. Both englandstats and englandfootballonline, as well as Betts in "England: Player by player", list him as Chappell, while Cavallini's history of the Wanderers lists him as Maddison. The book by Gibbons refers to him as Chappell-Maddison for his England appearance and his three Cup Finals. Warsop ("The Early FA Cup Finals") lists him as Maddison while Mitchell ("First Elevens") refers to him as Chappell. All rather confusing! Best wishes. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 13:27, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

p.s. I see that in May, you removed a lot of uncited content, which makes the article read rather oddly, without telling the correct story. When time permits, I plan to rewrite the article, using the various books and websites mentioned above. What are you talking about, 'test edits' ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.79.231.239 (talkcontribs)

Could you elaborate please to let me understand how exactly the edits 'were not needed'? Surely the edits added context to his career by indicating when in his career his performances attracted international honours? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.79.231.239 (talkcontribs)

In reply to your replies:-

a) What do they add to the encyclopaedia?

-> The edits added clarity to his career by indicating when in his career his performances attracted international honours?

b) Where is the source confirming it?

-> The sources are already there and the additional text is added based upon cross referencing the existing text in the article with the years and team info already listed in the articles factbox.

c) etc

-> Can you be specific please?

d) Could you respond to my prev question please? What 'test edits' exactly please?

I've put him forward for ITN recent death, first time I've ever tried to do that! But any help you can help you can add to the article to get it to ITN by much appreciated, cheers, Govvy (talk) 10:15, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi! I've just noticed that you deleted this per WP:DENY, so I wondered if the second incarnation of the page, by an account created ten days after the other was blocked, might just be more of the same. I thought I'd ask you rather than rush straight to SPI, hope that's OK. The page creations are certainly not without problems in any case. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tony Mamodaly, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Matthias Zimmermann (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Ross Hannah

Good afternoon. I just wanted to touch base with you. Firstly as you can see I’m not a disruptive editor, perhaps a little casual but I don’t feel there’s any need to threaten me with blocking me from editing. As well you always seem far too quick to revert edits like you did just now on Ross Hannah. Before I’d even had time to add the reverence you’d reverted my edit mere seconds later. There was no reference to add the other day other than on Gainsborough’s official Facebook so I deemed it not noticable enough but before I had chance to go back and add the reference you’d reverted my edit. I’m not criticising how you work on here but I would like you to be a little more human with me from now on. As you can see I’ve been a consistent editor for over 10 years, I’m not disruptive and everything I post is genuine. But I am a very casual and almost a complete mobile app editor these days. You don’t have to ride me or even keep a cautious eye out over me, all I do these days is pretty much update football related pages related to Grimsby Town. Best Regards, Footballgy (talk) 15:32, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

Hardly a bizarre edit but a slight mistake, one that needs a quick fix not a threatening message to block me. Again a little full on and if this is such an issue a little friendly message wouldn’t go a miss, absolutely no need for template warnings and threats. If you like to delve further into my past you’ll see I’ve also worked to combat vandalism on certain pages, so again a bit of common courtesy wouldn’t go miss just like I’m showing you? Footballgy (talk) 15:45, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
You didn’t even allow me a mere 10 seconds to edit the page, before I’d even completed my edits you’d reverted my first one meaning the second one containing the reference and chapter was published but you’d reverted the edit containing the updated infobox. As stated I’m an app editor, you cannot edit a whole page in one go. To edit the top section you can only alter the infobox and the introduction, then you have to manually edit each chapter an edit at a time. So it could take me 3/4 app edits to complete what would take me one on a desktop. Clearly I’ve gone to add the infobox and intro again but I’ve have made a mistake on the years and clubs number. You’ve obviously edited the page at the same time after seeing my second edit with the reference and this has caused that. Because I’ve not gone on and edited anything you have wrote at all, just added what you deleted. Obviously because we’ve both written the same year, club, caps etc those items have stayed the same? There must be some discrepencies between the app and desktop? However like stated if you give me an opportunity to make these edits they’ll be sorted and again like stated I don’t make disruptive and incorrect editions. Footballgy (talk) 16:20, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
Feel free to come and look at the latest Apple App, unless I switch to edit from the browser which I am doing now to talk to you then as stated you can’t edit the entire page at once. So what I’ve done is reverted your edit, then made a second edit to add the reference. Even if you weren’t involved and I went to edit the page myself and it would still take two edits to update the page. The reference would always go on the second edit because you don’t add them to the infobox. What I’ve done is edited a page in the only way I can with this device and you’ve not given me ample time to do that. All of my edits when a player moves club takes more than one edit, I do plenty of them but only this occasion you’ve not allowed me to complete my work.Footballgy (talk) 16:40, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
That’s fine but also I’ll say once more if you see me making updates to pages then allow me to complete my work. Because it’s wasting both our time and it causes editing conflicts. Regards. Enjoy your Sunday. Footballgy (talk) 09:20, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

Whatever script I'm using that shows user rights next to someone's name shows that you are a sysop and autopatrolled. This caught my attention, and I'm assuming you've set this because a few weeks ago there was a bug where all new articles went to the queue to be patrolled whether the creator was autopatrolled or not. FYI This is no longer a problem. Natureium (talk) 11:18, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Total clarity mate,

Also, I've put football club in for years and years, the source above is Football Club also, I really don't understand why you change it too F.C. , it really doesn't help with consistency throughout the articles, also, ages ago, I had to change all citations to Football Club to pass a GA also, Govvy (talk) 13:59, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

How do you know there isn't a Tottenham Hotspur Friends Club? Or a Fencing Club? Even on a football article, sometimes sports do mix it up, it's always best to be diligent. You really are a stubborn individual! Govvy (talk) 14:15, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

I was looking through category inconsistencies (players categorised by position but not nationality), and I noticed Werner Bickelhaupt. It seems as though he's only a manager, but he is categorised as a midfielder. The issue seemed to start when the stub tag was changed, with the midfielder category later copied from the tag. Am I right to assume this is incorrect and can be removed? S.A. Julio (talk) 00:27, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Also, I noticed Jochen Figge, which has contained Category:German footballers since you created the article. There is no mention of a playing career, nor could I find any through searching, was he a footballer also or only a manager? S.A. Julio (talk) 19:44, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

SMALLCAT origin categories

When it comes to categories such as Category:Belizean people of Ghanaian descent it's worth remembering that a good category has 50-200 articles, and we positively discourage WP:OVERCATEGORISATION and WP:SMALLCATs. I tend to the view that if an X people of Y descent cat hasn't been created by now, then we're probably looking at a WP:SMALLCAT and in general it shouldn't be created. My rule of thumb is that I create the Y country cat if it's on the same continent, but leave Y as the continent if it's a different continent - realistically how many articles about Belizeans of Ghanaian descent are we ever likely to have? People tend to overcategorise, and this is a common one, not helped by the fact that the whole "descent" thing tends to be a bit problematic from a sourcing point of view.Le Deluge (talk) 12:58, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Charlie Scott (footballer)

Hi there. Regarding the revert on Charlie Scott. If you look in the history, the article was originally created by Royroydeb at 15:58, 28 April 2018. It appears that you have again overwritten a creation page via a sandbox, this can only be done by someone with administrator privileges. --Nelly GTFC (talk) 13:49, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

From what I can see Royroydeb created the page on 28 April 2018, this was the day Charlie Scott made his professional debut with Hamilton. Then on 30 April 2018, you have merged your sandbox in to it which erased Royroydeb citations, then you have added them back in your own format. We had this issue before Diallang Jaiyesimi and it was exactly the same situation.--Nelly GTFC (talk) 15:58, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
I'm failing to see what your merge of your very own sandbox had to even offer? The only two sources you provided were already included in Royroydeb version, all you have done is merge and deleted what he posted, then rewritten it as if you had done it?--Nelly GTFC (talk) 19:32, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Because if Royroydeb originally created the live version on 28 April 2018 then surely his citation style should be the one that is used? It was you who pulled me up on this in the first place about 3 or 4 year ago on Ross Hannah article. Then about a year ago we had Diallang Jaiyesimi which as I mentioned seems no different to what has happend here with the Charlie Scott Article? I'm probally sounding like a right pain in the bottom, but all I'm trying to do is get my head around what is right and what is wrong. Thanks. --Nelly GTFC (talk) 20:04, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Thank you mate, I am as passionate about football as any person. I'm not trying to ruin Wikipedia simply edit my favourite team and players of Fleetwood Town, all facts and data is accurate. I do work for the club and would never ruin this website. Sorry if I inconvenienced you yesterday and I hope we can move on. Kit history

I have a question! If Ajax kit history article is deleted, Are all kit history articles going to delete? Including England national football team kit history?Footwiks (talk) 16:22, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Spanish, Italian, Portuguese Wikipdia had already Kit history articles. They don't have deletion discussion.

es:Categoría:Uniforme de selecciones de fútbol, it:Categoria:Colori e simboli delle squadre di calcio giapponesi, pt:Categoria:Uniformes de clubes de futebol

Kit history is also part of Football history and records and Football culture.

Only English football project members don't understand this. Why afraid of creating of new article? Everyday, Rull, Rull, Rull.

What do you think of Logos and uniforms of the Boston Red Sox? Do you delete only football kit seprate article?

By football project members logic, Seperate Baseball kit articles also had problem!

But baseball project member don't raise a deletion discussion.

Please help with keeping the separate articles.Footwiks (talk) 17:19, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

To Crowsus, What do you think of Football kit images in football team Info Box? Including Scotland national football team. Every season. Most football team main article is updating the new detalied kit images on Info Box.

By you and football progect members logic, Minor difference is meaningless. Therefore, Making new detailed kit image is the waste of time and effort. If deleted the seperate football kit history articles and throwed away images in English Wikiepdia. Let's call a halt to update new kit image on Info Box. Every season, We can use only one traditional kit image. Due to permission of updating new detailed kit images, With good faith, Many wiki users are creating detailed kit images which is meaninglsss. Hi, Im wondering why you deleted the page Heber Ackland which is about me and was produced in 2004 (not by me I might add). Re: Alex Reid (footballer, born 1995)

I'll give the profile a good old revamp soon, probably late at night so you don't keep reverting it back to a stub like you do with nearly every other article you've created.

Regarding the external links section, no "warring" going on from me, it's just common sense that the Soccerbase link should be included as it includes a whole load of information that the article body citation is not referencing. It is wholly beneficial to the user too. It has been this way for over 10 years and I did not think this had changed in the last week or so. If this isn't the case and a footballers' Soccerbase profile should not be in the 'External links' section if the Soccerbase has been cited in the article body, then you (and I) have a lot of editing to do.

Thoughts on the above please @Mattythewhite:. As a reference point, I notice a lot of York City player articles have included Soccerbase as a citation in the article body and are also included as an external link on all player pages. I have always done this too. Even high profile GAs like Lionel Messi include Soccerway as an in-line citation and as an external link. Should it in fact be one or the other? If so, I will get editing to remove the Soccerbase (plus any Soccerway and official websites etc) from the external links section if they have been used in the article itself. Cheers. SBFCEdit (talk) 12:23, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Per MOS:LAYOUTEL, "hyperlinks should not appear in the article's body text, nor should links used as references normally be duplicated in this [external links] section" (my bold). So you would be correct in removing Soccerbase as an external link if it is used elsewhere as a reference. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:51, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
@SBFCEdit: please see above. I will shortly be archiving this chat because I'm going away for the weekend. GiantSnowman 13:58, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
@Mattythewhite: @GiantSnowman: Ok cheers. We've all got a lot of fixing to do then! I'll get cracking! SBFCEdit (talk) 14:16, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
I'm not sure if an external link like this should be removed, where that *precise* url hasn't been used in a reference. @Struway2:, could you advise? Mattythewhite (talk) 14:25, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
Agree that the homepage official website should not be removed as an EL - but the generic Soccerbase profile should be if the season pages are used in-line. GiantSnowman 14:29, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
@Mattythewhite: @GiantSnowman: But that's exactly what we're talking about now regarding the Alex Reid article. The Reid article has quoted his statistics for the 2016/2017 and 2018/2019 season only and the citations direct solely to those two seasons, whereas the external links page would show an overview of his whole career and do not link to a PRECISE season so are two different links. As I pointed out in my original message. This was subsequently reverted twice and told it was not needed. I know what makes more sense to me and will suit the user more... SBFCEdit (talk) 14:33, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
What is there on the SB overview page that isn't present on the season pages? Nothing. They still include the career overview... GiantSnowman 14:35, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman: I mean, it is sort of random and nonsensical that's it's taking the user to e.g. Lionel Messi's 2016/2017 statistics and nothing else of a 15-year career, no? In my opinion, there should be an overview page in external links for the ease of the user. In the appropriate external links section at the bottom of the page. Completely harmless and provides a full overview that is provided no where else in the article. After all, it has been agreed that we should include repetition of league division in the career statistics section for ease of user and accessibility as per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Football/Players#Career_statistics. And that's referring to clicks! What makes this any different? This makes it more difficult for the user, not easier, and links them to a random season for the player in question. Common sense is why this has held strong for over ten years. SBFCEdit (talk) 14:43, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
At this recent discussion, I said I thought if there was a full stats table entirely sourced to a particular stats site, then that site shouldn't be repeated as an ext link, but if there was one ref to a page from that site buried in the article, I saw no reason why it shouldn't, if it was generally relevant. And a sliding scale in between. I still hold that view, which arguably is supported by WP:ELRC (that bit of the guideline clearly covers the example that Mattythewhite linked me on). Probably with the current state of the Reid article, I'd lean towards omitting it.
Back in the day, there was little distinction between ELs and refs: standard practice was put a link to Soccerbase in the ELs and that was enough stats-sourcing-wise. Things change, but that doesn't mean thou shalt not ever repeat a link. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:17, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
Cheers. This makes more sense to me. You're right, the Reid article is an utter mess at the moment. I'll be sorting that soon. I'll stick with including it in the External Links section when I've sorted the bulk of the article. After all, the exact Soccerbase link included in EL is not, and will not be, repeated anywhere else in the article. Cheers. SBFCEdit (talk) 15:26, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
That's not what Struway said. The stats table is sourced to Soccerbase - therefore there is no need for Soccerway to appear as an external link. GiantSnowman 15:55, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
The stats table is massively incomplete. Think it's also very apparent there's no clear rule here as you were previously stating in your edits. Ultimately that's what I wanted to find out and it's very clear that it isn't the case. Therefore, we move to a more common sense approach, that applied in this situation means that unless the entire Soccerbase profile has been used as a reference in the article that it makes sense to have it in the EL (there are also very strong arguments to having it in the EL regardless, which makes it a no brainer it for me). I'll be adding Soccerbase to the EL as the profile takes shape, especially as the statistics are incomplete and users will likely check SB to see this is the case. This makes perfect sense. Have a good weekend away bud. SBFCEdit (talk) 17:05, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Sigh, I've removed it again. Take it to the article talk page and get consensus for inclusion per WP:BRD. What stats from Soccerbase are missing from the table by the way? GiantSnowman 13:32, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

Can this not be raised on a wider scale than the article talk page or is this how it always works? Either way, whatever method brings about a wide-scale “rule” would be beneficial to everyone. It seems like it’s been discussed before though, albeit with you dominating the discussion and no conclusion being reached, so it seems a little bit of a fruitless exercise.
My issue here is with consistency. You evidently take too much “ownership” over articles you have created (you have just under 50 WP:Ownership claims against you) and you keep reverting articles back to stub-form with very minimal detail in. If you were putting the effort to make the articles a decent standard I'd understand, but the articles are all in horrendous states and yet you really do make it very difficult for other users to improve or expand on them. Looking at your edits you regularly put “clean up” in your edit summary when editing footballers’ profiles, yet you never remove Soccerbase from the EL section when it has been used as an in-cite reference. This is where the inconsistency comes into play. The reality at the moment is you are only enforcing this on articles you have created, whilst "cleaning up" other articles and completely sidestepping it. SBFCEdit (talk) 15:24, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
Where have I reverted an article back to stub form? Your allegations of OWNership are unfounded and do not help your position in the slightest. There are literally tens of thousands of articles about players who are covered by Soccerbase - please forgive me for missing some... GiantSnowman 07:35, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

GiantSnowman, you opened this review back in May, and haven't posted to it since May 8, a good two and a half months ago.

Would you like me to see if I can find a reviewer to take over the review? This was your first, according to the GAN page, and it may not have been what you expected. One way or another, the review has been languishing, and needs to progress soon. Many thanks, whatever you decide. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:23, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi GiantSnowman,
This article has been nominated for speedy deletion. I've had a look for the club on Swedish language Wikipedia and haven't found anything that is an exact or near match.
Your thoughts about this? Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:07, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

I contested this, pointing out that it met WP:FOOTYN through participation in the Svenska Cupen (I also added this to the article). It was deleted as A7 by @Anthony Bradbury. Is it worth taking to DRV? It should, at the very least, have gone to AfD. Nzd (talk) 16:06, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
As this competition is open to clubs in the top two divisions in Sweden and a lot of clubs from lower divisions I do not think that entry qualifies a tem as intrinsically notable. But by all means take it to deletion review; my interpretation of policy could be faulty. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:33, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
I'm sorry @Anthony Bradbury: but that was a really bad deletion. @Nzd: I'm not really around for the next few days, please can you take to DRV if you have the time? GiantSnowman 10:00, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of Vanessa Beeley

I would like to ask you for more information about your deletion of the Vanessa Beeley page. You deleted the page under the section relating to “Creation by a blocked or banned user in violation of block or ban”. The page was previously deleted in January 2018 for a different reason. I have not been able to find any information about the deletion such as a discussion or proposal so would be interested to know the background to the deletion. I have a few questions which I hope you won’t mind answering.

1. Who was the blocked or banned user who created the page?

2. The page seems to have been around for a few months at least so what prompted the deletion at this time?

3. I visited the page and its talk page a few hours before the deletion and did not see any topic related to the deletion. Did you post a proposal somewhere else or follow any other procedure prior to deletion?

4. The G5 deletion policy states that it “… applies to pages … that have no substantial edits by others”. How did you determine that no substantial edits were made by others? Did you use a tool such as WhoColor for example? If so, what were the results?

5. What are your thoughts on recreation of the page at some stage?

False accusation of vandalism

On Wikipedia, vandalism has a very specific meaning: editing (or other behavior) deliberately intended to obstruct or defeat the project's purpose, which is to create a free encyclopedia, in a variety of languages, presenting the sum of all human knowledge. My edit was not a vandalism. The article (very poor in quality in fact) stated that the player has played in Comercial Esporte Clube (SP), which is not true. He has never played for Comercial Esporte. He has played for Comercial Futebol Clube from Sao Paulo state, but it was not clear for which exactly Comercial Futebol Clube, as there are more than 1 club with that name in the state of Sao Paulo. That's why I changed the wrong link to Comercial Esporte, to a proper one to Comercial Futebol Clube from São Paulo state. Now I know which exactly Comercial Futebol Clube the played has played for, but it doesn't mean that my edit was a vandalism.

Furthermore, your error influenced other articles where you wrongly reverted my proper edits:
1. Here: 11

How can you claim that Aguinaldo Roberto Gallon played in 1977 in Comercial Esporte Clube (SP) if the club didn't even exist? Also the sources for the article claim that this player played for Comercial Futebol Clube (Ribeirão Preto) and my edit was proper.

2. Here: 12

There isn't even a club called Comercial de Registro, as you claim. The official name of the club, that Dadá Maravilha was playing for is Comercial Esporte Clube and it should be linked in wikipedia under that name. But as there are more clubs under the name Comercial Esporte Clube the article title should include the city or state name that the club is from. So the proper name for the article of this club should be Comercial Esporte Clube (SP) or Comercial Esporte Clube (São Paulo). There was nothing wrong in my edit, while your edit was wrong.

False accusations of vandalism are against the rules of wikipedia, and especially administrators should avoid this. But if those false accusations lead to overzealousy and reverting proper edits of the falsely accused user, it's unacceptable.
--Jakas1 (talk) 08:58, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
Show me an edit that is unsourced. In Cristiano Ávalos the source wasn't just transfermarkt, but the source that was already in the article confirms the list of clubs. I dont't need to add the source, that is already in the article. Besides, please source your claim that transfermarkt is unreliable source.
Please refrain from further reverts, as you are against the rules of wikipedia. Read the articles, analyse the club names and then use the article discussion page to clarify the issues that you are not clear with. --Jakas1 (talk) 10:49, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
If sources in the article already confirm my edit, I don't need to add the same source again (I even shouldn't do it). The list of clubs was already sourced on external page, but the article only included some of the clubs from the external source (and some wrongly), which I corrected. This is not vandalism. This is not unsourced edit. Please read the articles and sources before reverting. --Jakas1 (talk) 11:03, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
This is only your interpretation. I don't have to explain sources in edit summary. You cannot make up the rules of wikipedia. Besides, you now swich from false vandalism accusations to just incompetence accusations (which are also false). It's a step forward, but still I didn't break any rules listed here: Wikipedia:Competence is required, but you broke the rule not to falsely accuse of vandalism (not the first time). In fact it's you that vandalised the articles by wrong reverts. --Jakas1 (talk) 11:40, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
Could you source where it is written that your opinion that other user is not sticking to a good practice allows you to accuse him of vandalism? Please follow: Wikipedia:Assume good faith. This is a 3rd try of you to show that I broke any rules. I didn't break the vandalism, nor competency rules, nor didn't I break the summary rules. Good practice means it's just a suggestion, not a strict rule. Besides my edits where extremely simple corrections of internal links. They were all less than 20 bites, they were clear and didn't need edit summary. Even if I gave a summary like "internal links correction", it wouldn't change the fact that you vandalised it afterwards and are now trying to explain it by my lack of summary. --Jakas1 (talk) 11:57, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
They were already sourced, and the fact, that they looked unconstructive to you doesn't allow you to accuse me of vandalism. Interesting that you're not reverting my "vandalisms" anymore. Why not?
I didn't use edit summary for that edit: 13. If you read the articles before writing, as I asked you to, you would know that the source was given IN the edit itself, so you want to duplicate it in the summary? I don't care. Don't follow me, no need to answer me, as I will not write back to you anymore. For me this discussion is over. Goodbye. --Jakas1 (talk) 13:38, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

Stop your prohibition on my edit on Jacob Maddox. I stated the reason why I cancel it, obviously and totally my edit is not vandalism. Behalf yourself and stop using vandalism as an excuse to revert my edit. If you do not agree just state your reason and view. As a solicitor don't you understand the spirit of the law?? Hello. Another time, please would you wait until a player's actually made their debut before putting their article live. The amount of time we spend explaining to new users why signing for a fully pro club isn't the same as playing in a fully pro competition, it doesn't help if they see someone who should know better doing exactly what we're telling them not to do. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 10:17, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

What's the point of WP:IAR by rushing into mainspace an article that makes no assertion of notability, because at the time he wasn't notable, when if you'd waited a couple of hours, you (or someone else) could have created an article about a notable person that contained an interesting piece of information: that he'd scored on debut in the match that made him notable. Use common sense, indeed. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:28, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

Now I see, that you blocked this another user, who made a contributions about Gibraltar national teams. But previously weren't so, that were need to make a footnote for every player in the squad list. I joined this project 10 years ago to make something good, and recently I am trying to avoid a political or another (possibly) conflicting topics, but in football I put this, that not offensive. About Gibraltar football not lots of websites ect, and this user made a great job now must stop it. And now you threatening me, that i be blocked. Please, stop it. Hi GiantSnowman. Thank you for your recent updates here. I have a question for you. Is "suspected Mexican drug lord" incorrect? This issue was brought up in a past DYK of mine and an editor said it "Mexican suspected drug lord" sounds awkward. I don't always have a natural grasp of what sounds awkward or not in English, so I was wondering what you take was on it. Cheers, MX () 12:54, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of Chicago Falcons for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Chicago Falcons is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chicago Falcons until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Yosemiter (talk) 21:41, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Naomi Osaka wording

Just some thoughts....I noticed you changed the lead of Naomi Osaka and your summary said "this wording is standard." I don't think that is correct as there is no standard. Look at Garbiñe Muguruza and Milos Raonic. Similar situations handled differently. Mary Pierce is another example. There is no standard and at least the way it was "a professional tennis player who represents Japan internationally" would stop a lot of future edit wars from those who want Haitian-Japanese and Japanese-American. That protection level won't last forever. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:51, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

RFC on Naomi Osaka

this RFC is currently host to what I feel is going to be the WP community shooting itself in the foot. Naomi Osaka has dual Japanese and American citizenship (and was raised and lives in America.) Currently It seems there is an effort to remove that from the lede and merely describe her as Japanese only because she represents Japan in tennis. I feel she should be described as Japanese and American per my reasoning there. Since you've been a part of these edits, your comment would be valued, regardless of your input. As an admin i think your opinions would be sound too. I'm too frustrated with it to coherently get my words toegether and I have alot of trouble with communication when I'm upset. I'd really appreciate your input as an admin. - R9tgokunks 20:16, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

Vontae Davis

Eveverything does not need a source. I can't honestly say I've ever seen any professional athlete period have a source for their stats. Same goes for actors with filmography or musicians with discography. You should probably also read WP:BLUESKY as well. Either leave it alone or find a source yourself.--Rockchalk717 16:26, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

I've added a source. I don't appreciate your abuse of power which is what I feel like you are doing right now. Every NFL player has a link to their stats in their infobox as well as a stat chart. If anybody has any questions about the verifiability of the stars, the can scroll up the page and click on the link. I do not care if you are an admin or not. If you have an issue with the NFL player pages are set up and put together, take the issues to the project page.--Rockchalk717 16:39, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, GiantSnowman! I responded to your section on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football about the aforementioned category, but I guess you haven't see that yet - would've helped if I remembered to tag you! I don't see what you're complaining about, GS. You removed two valid match reports to make them point to the Soccerbase profile and called it "formatting". I don't see where's the honest formatting there, I see only pointless removals. Stats are referenced in ref #2, already added in the article. MYS77 15:30, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

I honestly don't know why I'm still trying to talk with you, since you're just blindly reverting and removing content here and there... MYS77 15:37, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Would you bother to explain why on Earth a Tweet is more reliable than all those sources I added back then? MYS77 15:58, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
 • I've found some references to prove some points right as well... I have to apologize for my behavior but, the most important thing is that the article is now complete. As for the "League Cup", I was not the one who removed it. In fact, it was already off the article when I started editing. I will add it with some notelist, gimme a minute. MYS77 18:28, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
As am I, mate. Two questions regarding that Tweet:
 1. There are two competitions confusing me a bit: there's a "League Cup" and a "FA Trophy" in it. Should we add that "League Cup" to the "League Cup" column? I know it sounds really dumb but, taking a look at English football, since it's not EFL Cup, should we add it in that column anyway?
 2. The two other tournaments are the Essex Senior Cup (which I recall on being a valid senior tournament due to my edits on Ryan Bird, if I'm correct) and the Tolleshunt D'Arcy Memorial Cup (which by the name I think it's a friendly one). We add them both? And the stats added should be included with the FA Trophy ones comprised in the "Others" column?
Cheers, MYS77 18:38, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Worried about mass amounts of edits by user Fodbold-fan

You blocked this user back in June for changing player articles without source and I came across them because they made a unsourced change on Auckland City FC article. Looked at their edit history and see they came back on 1st October and now made hundreds of edits and I worry that not all of them will be sourced. Also their referenceing isn't complete when they do source something. NZFC(talk)(cont) 00:43, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

I was wondering if you could have a look at the sources that I found about this club in the above discussion. I may be missing something but I can't understand why, if all the sources point to a continuity in the clubs, we have 2 articles. The "new" club page states that it was formed in 2006 but there are no sources to back this up, they inherited the management of the teams through a judgement but not the debts. If we fork the content we need to have sources that show this is legitimate but I can find none. Is there some kind of policy or guideline that I am missing that allows this kind of content forking that is not backed up by sources? Thanks for your advice. --Dom from Paris (talk) 09:40, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

This has happened for the greater part two years within the rules of every single MLB roster, you can see this. With all due respect, I know what I'm doing when it comes to editing rosters. Hi. The cricket categories were removed on the above player because he did not play at first-class level. Those categories are reserved for players who played in matches of status (i.e. first-class, List A, Twenty20). While he may have played for Scotland, it was in the 1880s at a 'minor level' before they played matches at first-class status (1905 onward). All part of my category clear-up so categories fall more in line with WP:CRIN match importance, and give an accurate count of players who played matches of status for any given nation/team. Recent deletions

I think you need to swiftly reconsider the articles you've recently deleted, such as Callum Hudson-Odoi. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:43, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Looking at your deletion log there are quite a few, most of which, if not all, appear to be notable topics. Even if they're not notable, going by the GNG or the football-specific guideline, the articles should be prodded or taken to AfD. You have cited G5 as the rationale for your deletions, but per WP:G5 articles deleted should "have no substantial edits by others". I don't think that applies to any of these pages. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:13, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
G5 may apply (to some) but is it right to delete them, in practice, when the topics are notable? Mattythewhite (talk) 17:24, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
I don't think there's any interpretation that justifies the unilaterally-decided deletion of articles for obviously notable subjects such as Callum Hudson-Odoi. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:55, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Albion Ademi

I saw the dispute at Albion Ademi article and the debate with the fellow user: it was me who inserted the statistics with Finland youth squads using transfermarkt. I know it is not a reliable source but transfermarkt has all the detailed informations of matches. For now, i have inserted stats of u-19 and u-17 using soccerway which is not complete. And if you see the page of Finland national under-19 football team, you'll see Albion Ademi with 10 appearances in the recent callups section — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sadsadas (talkcontribs)

You misunderstand all, i said his under-19 and under-17 stats are incomplete not soccerway. -_- I don't want to get into edit war with you and get blocked. I will sent you soccerway links of his matches. U17 vs England (41 minutes), U17 vs Ukraine (37 minutes), U17 vs Turkey (37 minutes) ----- U19 31 minutes vs Italy, 75 minutes vs Portugal The matches reports are complete with lineups & substitutions and everything. All the matches are official, competitive. And also a source from UEFA.com which is RELIABLE source which indicates his stats for under-17&u19. -- Sadsadas (talk) 7 November 2018

Incomplete updating

Hello GS, what can we do about an editor who continually fails to update stats tables when updating the infobox? I have left three messages at their TP but seemingly they have been ignored. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 21:47, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

Yes it is! I would personally, also reckon it to be disruptive; lots of articles now have outdated &/or inaccurate information. Eagleash (talk) 15:47, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Logan brothers

Fair enough. I thought the site seemed to have the air of reliable editorial control but I don't have the best feel for that with sporting resources. As a consequence I've also self-rved this edit too.

In case you are interested and can help, I came across the article in relation to this investigation about James H. Logan, who may or may not be one of these brothers. Mutt Lunker (talk) 10:58, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi!

How are you? I just wanted to say can you please stop making changes to at least FK Željezničar Sarajevo players and the loan out ones. I am a big fan of that club and I have been keeping track of how much the players have been playing in all the competitions (currently the league only since the club is only competing in that competition this season). So I ask you very kindly to stop making edits to that and also stop making edits to Haris Hajdarević being named Eldin Mustafić, It,'s a little bit annoying. Thank you in advance, bye! what article actually says

I don't know, d'you know Ukrainian, but the article actually says, that his grandfather emigrated in 1970s to work ("Дідусь Андреаса поїхав до Латвії працювати в 1970-х) and NOT father, who was born in Latvia and Andrejs Cigaņiks and Ihor Tsyhanyk NOT actually cousins, but Cigaņiks' father and Ihor Tsyhanyk ("я і його батько – троюрідні брати"). Why you blaming me in these things, that you trespass (not the first time)? About the Western Ukraine I heard in the Tsyhanyk's interview and this isn't in THIS article. It's true. November 2018

The edits I have made to both Oscar Dorley and William Jebor are not "unproductive," as you term them, as they are up-to-date stats. Dorley featured for Liberia yesterday, so I added that appearance to his national team stats. Jebor likewise featured for Liberia yesterday and scored a goal. So I added those stats and updated his club stats, which, as I found them, were incorrect. I corrected them, and yet still you reverted them without explanation. You don't have monopolistic domain over these Liberian players, especially if you're maintaining them with incorrect stats and/or reverting standard, productive updates to their stats. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anwegmann (talkcontribs) 18:31, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

You have gone through and blindly reverted many of my legitimate updates to pages on several people, teams, and bands. This is a disservice to Wikipedia, as your reversions are providing readers with old, incorrect, or out-of-date information. Unless you know one of my updates is incorrect, please stop. You're being malicious, and it's pointless and dishonest. If you have a problem with one of my updates, simply change it to the correct information. I have made every effort to provide correct, up-to-date information on all of these pages. Simply reverting my changes because, for some reason, you are upset with me is unproductive and done in bad faith. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anwegmann (talkcontribs) 18:46, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Oscar Dorley has featured 11 times for Liberia. I just checked. NFT lists 10 appearances but has not updated that number to include his appearance yesterday. So, 10+1=11. It's that simple. You're being malicious and aggressive. I am trying to update this player's page correctly. As you can see clearly at https://www.national-football-teams.com/player/59788/Oscar_Dorley.html, the match from yesterday has not been added to his total. You can find the match report from yesterday here: http://www.espn.com/soccer/lineups?gameId=501747. This report, again, clearly shows that Dorley featured. So, if we add yesterday's confirmed appearance to the total found on NFT, we end up with 11 total appearances. Again, you reverted my edit without confirming that my update was correct. Stop calling my productive edits "unproductive." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anwegmann (talkcontribs) 19:07, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I was wrong about him having 9 appearances. But you "reverted" my edit so that the page listed 8 appearances. That, too, is wrong. So, I suppose we were both wrong. You then updated the page to show 10 appearances. That, too, is wrong. Why did you do that? Given your unfounded accusations of "vandalism" and "unproductive" edits, I used the edit summary as well as Dorley's talk page to explain why 11 is the most appropriate number. I don't know why you're so upset that I was incorrect about 9 appearances when you were incorrect about both 8 appearances and 10 appearances. People make mistakes, my friend. I made a mistake with my first edit, and you made a mistake with your reversion of mine and with your subsequent update. I'm not angry with you, especially about that. All that matters is that the page is correct now. I have explained how and why that is the case. There was no need to revert my changes, especially those of bands and other people you have never worked on, simply out of frustration with me. All of my edits were in good faith. If I made a mistake, it's part of the process for someone else to come along a fix that mistake, not blindly revert the edit to something that is most certainly incorrect. I don't understand your ill will for me. I'm trying to do the same thing you are doing—provide up-to-date information for these footballers. I care about Liberia and its national team, and I, like you, want the information surrounding it and its players to be correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anwegmann (talkcontribs) 19:29, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

I know you did. But you jumped to a conclusion, given that my update was more correct than the original. It wasn't "disruptive" if it's a good faith attempt to update information that is, as we both have seen through this interaction, relatively difficult to find. You accused me of "vandalism," which this most certainly is not. Had I updated his goals, for example, to 525 or his appearances to 1,290, then yeah, that'd be vandalism. Instead, I updated, admittedly wrongly but in good faith, his appearances to something that more closer represented reality than what stood in its place before. You then reverted it and updated it with another incorrect number. I then updated with the correct number. Yet between all of this, you accused me multiple times of "vandalism" and "disruption" and reverted, blindly, some half dozen other correct updates I had made to pages you have never worked on. That's unfair, aggressive, and unfounded. We can work together on these pages without animosity. I enjoy making these updates, and, as with any human, I make mistakes on occasion. Why not send me a quick message asking me how I arrived at a given bit of information or why I felt the need to update a given stat category? Isn't that how collaborative efforts work? I'm sorry if you're upset with me. But, again, I'm only doing the exact same thing you're trying to do. It's all in good faith, and it's all honest. I just want these pages to be correct. Anwegmann (talk) 19:39, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Mate, you're being rude. I'm trying to work with you, and you're being obnoxious. I hope we can work together in the future without such childish and unproductive displays. Anwegmann (talk) 19:44, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

I beg to differ. Your confrontational style is off-putting and unproductive. I'm explaining why you're incorrect and over zealous. You clearly are not interested in hearing/reading that, so you're becoming catty and childish. And yes, you are being rude and spiteful. You're wrong and you know it. But, then again, I'm the "rambling" "vandal" who "unproductively" provided correct information in the place of your incorrect information. So what do I know, eh? Anwegmann (talk) 22:10, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

help/advice re: user making changes but not communicating

Hi GS, I'm having a struggle on 2018–19 Coupe de France with 176.150.125.194 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), who repeatedly undoes certain changes to the article, making it inconsistent with previous season articles for this competition.

The actual content changes are irrelevant, and if the user wants to build consensus for his version that would be fine, but it is the way the user undoes without edit summary, and won't engage either on the article talk page or on his talk page. I have posted in both places, in hope of invoking bold, revert, discuss, but I'm not even sure they are being read. I've avoided using any template

I wondered whether a nudge from an admin might help, and it at least seems like the next step to get him/her to communicate.

I suspect this user is not as new as his/her contributions suggest, just they're on a not particularly dynamic IP address.

Thoughts? Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 15:51, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi GS, there's nothing particularly "wrong" with their edits, except that they don't follow consensus reached through collaborative editing on previous seasons of the same competition. And I'll reiterate, I'm happy to work with them to achieve a new consensus, but without them being willing to communicate that can't work. It's help with getting them to communicate collaboratively that I am seeking. Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 16:20, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Edits

Why do you keep reverting my edits? Tombury89 (talk) 22:40, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

So because I've made mistakes in the past you are punishing me now on correct edits? I am a Blackburn Rovers fan & have been editing stuff related to them for a while, league appearances are correct from soccerbase & I always update the date. I find it rather annoying when I spend time helping edit & it gets reverted. As for Accrington Stanley I noticed not many edit it so thought I would help been a local club & a club I follow. Are you just going to have a personal vendetta against me & revert everything I edit now?

I've undo what you reverted regarding Blackburn Rovers, the edits are correct & appearances are from soccerbase, if you suggest I use a better source I'm willing to listen, all I'm trying to do is help edit a club I support & wouldn't use false information, If I'm going to be banned because I've undone them then that's a shame as I'm only trying to help. Hey GiantSnowman--it seems to me that this guy is as notable as they come: NFL player, head coach at Jackson State Tigers football. There's some problems with the notes and the sourcing, but that's fixable, I'm sure. What shall we do? Thanks, Drmies (talk) 04:38, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi, GS. Can you explain your recent edit? I think that Mattythewhite and I had removed the ‘unstable’ elements, whereas your edit has reintroduced several errors, such as referring to Hamilton rather than Hamilton Academicals, and the nonsense about him not missing Scottish football. Can you self-revert, please. Cheers. --Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 14:23, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

I have reverted GS's edit. Undoing stats updates, formatting of references, formatting of career stats tables etc could easily be viewed as disruptive and is quite unbecoming of an administrator. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:52, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
@Daemonickangaroo2018 and Mattythewhite: I simply saw a heap of edits going back and forth over the weekend day, so simply undid everything to the previous stable version of the page. If that undid some "constructive" edits in the process then apologies. Nice to see that AGF has gone out of the window with both of you! GiantSnowman 16:59, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Football Manager database as reference

Would the Football Manager database be a reliable reference for appearances/goals? Obviously I'd have to use screenshots as evidence, but the game does have reputation for accuracy, being used by real scouts for potential signings or even national team callups (most notable the Younghusband brothers for the Philippines). If it can't be used then I won't use it. VampireKilla (talk) 20:05, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

SLFL Edits

References were provided for the majority of changes, for example Ian Little (footballer). I used the official website of Whitehill Welfare F.C. but yet this was still reverted???

Having looked further - legitimate changes for Davie Irons, BSC Glasgow F.C. and lots, lots more have been changed for no valid reason as references were provided???

I feel only a minimum did not have references yet you have reverted most of my work. I will continue to update the SLFL depending on your response, but if my hard work keeps getting reverted, I feel I have no choice but to no longer contribute to this website.

All changes are 100% accurate, unfortunately there isn't a lot of sources as such on squads due to the nature of the league and moves happening often with websites not being updated by the clubs. It takes two mins on twitter to see a squad list or how a kit looks.

I cover the league as a job and just wanted to keep info up to date, if I can't then I won't. Simple as.

Apologies, if I've done this incorrectly, not used to using user talk pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cipow (talkcontribs) 16:43, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Your reversion at Abdenasser El Khayati

Hello. I'm a bit confused by your reversion at Abdenasser El Khayati. With his first edit, the editor updated the infobox stats, then realised he'd lumped the loan apps in with the permanent, and fixed it with his second. The stats are correct according to Soccerway. You then issued him a warning for vandalism and nuked all his extant edits: I noticed this because among the reversions were correct stats updates at Glenn Murray and other articles on my watchlist.

Unless I'm missing something, you may want to remove the warning and self-revert. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:51, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for apologising to the editor in question. Must admit, I'd have either struck through the warning or explicitly removed it, but what do I know. Do you intend to self-revert at all his other contributions? or would you like me to do it for you if you're too busy? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:25, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi, this is the editor in question here. You were OTT, but thank you for your apology GiantSnowman. I am still finding my feet on Wiki and will take your comments on board. Disruptive editing

GS, I did nothing disruptive. What in God's name are you talking about? Is this the thanks someone gets for adding links? I am in no way trying to edit in any way other than with a white heart. With all due respect, sir, did your wife kick you out of bed this morning? I do not appreciate your tone or your insinuations. I say again, people trying to edit Wikipedia with the best of intentions should NEVER be spoken to as you just did to me. Check yourself, mister. How about a "thanks for your efforts, but you could improve by..." instead of a fuck you? Get with the human decency program, compadre... Veryproicelandic (talk) 21:06, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi, GS, just happened across your large-scale reverts of User:Veryproicelandic's edits. I'm trying not to take any sides in this but I did want to ask if there's been a discussion I've missed since it isn't clear to me that all the edits you reverted are truly problematic. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 21:11, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi again, peeps! If this Snowman person really thinks that my efforts to make Wikipedia better are vandalism, he can keep his erroneous opinion, and I will never edit Wikipedia again. I'll be more than happy to read the articles and laugh at the errors I could've fixed. Mr. Snowman seems to think I'm the Grinch that stole Wikipedia's Christmas. Okay. No skin off my back. It's just annoying being called an online graffitist when my aim was to seriously better this site and its entries.

Yes, I want an apology. Yes, I want Snowman to... something. To wake up, to re-jigger his worldview. To take a second look at what I was meaning to do for this place. I have nfi where his comments came from... not sure whether to be angry with him or pray for him, as something is very wrong. What is going on here-? Veryproicelandic (talk) 21:18, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Please, Veryproicelandic, let's take it slow and easy. We're all here to contribute. Let's see what what GS says. I'd like to understand what he's trying to achieve. Please don't storm off, give it time. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 21:35, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Uninvited! I'll stay here. But I won't help the site any (which is what I was doing) until someone in the admin's bailiwick wakes up and realizes... something is wrong. I repeat that I will not be spoken to as Snowman did from behind his screen. I come in peace with an aim to help everyone, and I get told I'm a syphilitic, a leper. I will be upset. And am. What is he trying to accomplish? Ask him. Whatever it is, it's not in keeping with the aims of Wikipedia. Trust me, if I wanted to vandalize this place and cause him and his heartburn, I would've done it in spades long ago. I'm not that kind of cavron, though... and I hope he's reading this-

Snowman, thought: I bet a dollar you're somehow upset about the notability flags I put on all those scientist folks. Could I be right? If so, I double down on their potential non-notability. Someone, the person you should've been going after for doing what looks like a bot job, put hundreds of questionable entries on here, all of which beg the question of notability. They're poorly sourced and lacking in background. And I called them all out. Am I correct? C'mon, amigo. If you're gonna call me an online vandal, tell me how I'm a vandal so I can reply with how you're (still) wrong, and why I submit I'm correct. I read the the section on vandalism carefully. I'm no vandal, here or anywhere. Consider me still insulted... Veryproicelandic (talk) 21:46, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Relax. User:David Eppstein and I are following the matter. We are, for what it's worth, both admins. Give it time. GS may be done editing for the day. Let's see what he says next time he's here. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 21:52, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

User:David Eppstein, User:UninvitedCompany, please note that GiantSnowman did the same to me (see above). I was researching the soccer player Fuad Ibrahim for another website, and noticed the discrepancy of his stats on Wikipedia, which claimed that he played for Minnesota United in 2015. I did a web search, and found no confirmation. Then I went to the history of the page and found out that his 2015 "stats" were added by a anon user. So I decided to remove them, providing two links in the edit summary, one of them to the official Minnesota United page that listed their whole roster from 2010 to 2016 (on which Ibrahim appears only for 2012). GiantSnowman reverted my edit, rudely claiming vandalism. I reverted his claim, listing another link in the edit summary... he reverted again and slapped this on my talk page:

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Fuad Ibrahim. GiantSnowman 13:18, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Then, somehow, he realized I was right, and re-edited Ibrahim's page with my change. Did he apologize? Did he remove the claim from my user talk page? Absolutely not.

I used to be a very active editor on Wikipedia a decade ago, and it's "administrators" like him that made me leave it. I made one simple change, properly sourced, and he claimed I vandalized. It looks like he has done the same to others. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.21.191.151 (talk) 22:34, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Both you and Veryproicelandic are entitled to an explanation by GiantSnowman of GiantSnowman's actions, per WP:ADMINACCT: "Administrators are expected to respond promptly and civilly to queries about their Wikipedia-related conduct and administrative actions and to justify them when needed." —David Eppstein (talk) 00:08, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
I've apologised to Veryproicelandic. I will not apologise to IP for repeatedly removing (what was at the time) validly sourced content and removing other valid sources. GiantSnowman 08:54, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

More

It looks like he reverted my other changes, including this very innocuous one where I correctly changed "men's" to "women's" in the women's competition section: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Football_at_the_2017_Maccabiah_Games&type=revision&diff=871775962&oldid=870972607 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.21.191.151 (talk) 00:04, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Apologies...

... about this. I thought I was helping you. I didn't know you actually wanted your comments to change indenting in mid sentence.- MrX 🖋 13:11, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

AN/I thread follow-up

I just want to make it completely clear that the only thing I want out of all this is for the situation to improve. I see you've removed the script, which I think is wise. I'm glad you're contacting the IP. Best wishes, UninvitedCompany 19:00, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Connor Jones squad number

Connor Jones's squad number is quite confusing so I am unsure. He wore number 37 in the EFL Trophy but here it's listed as number 35? Cam (talk) 09:28, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

Missing nationality categories

Thought you might be interested in User:RonBot/Football players missing nationality, which contains a list of all players in the footballer biography tree which are missing a nationality category. A much shorter list of ~750 players, I'll try and get some categorised but could use some help. S.A. Julio (talk) 04:26, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

ArbComm case opened

Evidently the community can't deal with your misuse of tool to block editors and reverts of valid edits so to provide some structure I have opened an ArbComm case. Sorry to have to do this. Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#GiantSnowman Legacypac (talk) 13:45, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Kevin(e) Andzouana

Just noticed in going through the WT:Footy archive that we never did anything about the Kevin Andzouana/Kevine Andzouana issue. Unless you disagree with my conclusion there, I'll go ahead and merge to 'Kevine'. Nzd (talk) 02:59, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello, was the question of notability ever resolved (earlier archived discussion at User talk:Smartyllama/Archive 60#Allen Okello). Editors have removed the notability tag in the intervening period. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 14:44, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Jonathan Panzo

Sorry mate, had no idea you had created a Jonathan Panzo draft already! I just saw he played and made an article. Cam (talk) 20:12, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Kontogeorgakis

I hope that i write this on the right part.I changed something on Kontogiorgakis and you always change it to replace with the wrong one. First of all there are many mistakes about Kontogiorgakis on internet. He is not as famous as other footballers. So there is prblem about his career. Atlanta is wrong 99,9%.I will see it in the future. He mentioned in an interview that he started to play in Club Comunicaciones. He transfered to Platense.he played in the first division with Platense.Perhaps he played in more teams as youth.Perhaps he played in Atlanta as youth. I changed 1971-72 to -1971.I brought two different sources. The sources mention that Kontogiograkis was in PAS Giannina from February 1972.So he cant be in 1972 in Atlanta. You can see about argentinian championship that season was 1969,1970,1971,1972,1973.It was not in european style 1969-70,1970-71,1971-72. Argentine Primera División I am not fool to change something with mistakes.I try to write the right one.I try to improve the pages. Also i support this team and Kontogiorgakis is a legend for my team.First in appearances (317) and goals (91).--Fon7 (talk) 10:07, 23 December 2018 (UTC) I think that paperwork for transfer needed some time.So he started to play in February.I will write in discussion but i am not sure that a lot of people will be cared about Kontogiorgakis.--Fon7 (talk) 12:57, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

I cannot find Low's stats for when he was on loan and then signed for Derry City? Could you sort this out for me, please? Rusty1111 : Talk 18:26, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

Sam Cosgrove

How on earth can my edit on Sam Cosgrove constitute as vandalism?? All I did was change the totals as they were completely incorrect. There needs to be a totals box added for when he was on loan then his stint now at Aberdeen which I don't know how to put in. But to say its vandalism is absurd to say the least! I will continue with my random edits as that is what I tend to do here! Davezo33 01:32, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
