Asbjørn Gaarde[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Asbjørn Gaarde shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Edit summaries[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Matuko (talk) 23:08, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Tomáš Lněnička has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about non-notable footballer which fails WP:GNG. His single appearance in the Czech first league is not a presumption of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Florent Balmont[edit]

Hi. Thanks for updating Florent Balmont. Could you explain why you removed his appearance for Dijon II from the infobox? It's reliably sourced in the stats table. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 21:44, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Robby.is.on. I just think that it was a bit misplaced. That was the only reason. But I probably should have had it crammed in as some text instead. I thought it looked a bit out of place that it was in the infobox. Fodbold-fan (talk) 17:40, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced info about BLPs, again[edit]

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Sebastian Denius article, but I have found one and added it for you. Please try and remember to include sources yourself with future edits. Thomas Bertels[edit]

Hi Fodbold-fan. At Thomas Bertels, where did you get the TuS Ehringhausen and VfB Schloß Holte numbers from? No source in the article seems to support them or even that he played for these clubs at all. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 21:45, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Robby.is.on. Thank you for your kind inquiry. Many other users (no names mentioned) could learn from this ;)
I have just now updated the article. I must admit that sometimes it goes a little too fast and I forget to include sources. I have to apologize for that. And I had actually misspoken a bit, which I have also corrected. There were - as you can see from the source - several people named Bertels, which is why I had counted some wrong Bertels xD Fodbold-fan (talk) 17:03, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mm, how can you tell that https://www.kicker.de/ama-57366097/spieler and http://tus-ehringhausen.de/1-mannschaft/zahlen-daten refer to our Thomas Bertels? Both his first and last name are quite common in Germany. His TuS Ehringhausen stint is plausible since he played for that club as a youth but we need to be sure. Robby.is.on (talk) 17:19, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
With a very simple search on the largest soccer database available (although Wikipedia does not consider this source credible) we can see that there is only one Thomas Bertels: https://www.transfermarkt.com/schnellsuche/ergebnis/schnellsuche?query=Thomas+Bertels&x=0&y=0
In addition, you can also do a search on one of Germany's largest databases FuPa (also not considered credible here) where only two are named Thomas Bertels, one of which has only played for one other club. That's for sure not him. That said, you can further confirm this by searching his name along with those clubs on Google. I checked this before I updated the article earlier. It's 100% him.
In relation to when the statistics from Kicker relate to, you can click around a bit on the website. Take a look here, where you can see which seasons the statistics in question are collected from: https://www.kicker.de/ama-57366097/spieler-einsaetze
I'm pretty comfortable with what I've updated :-) Fodbold-fan (talk) 17:33, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. The problem is that anyone reading the article cannot extract the information and explanations you gave me from the article. Wikipedia:Verifiability, one of Wikipedia's core content policies, demands that "other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source." You have demonstrated here to me that the information you added is true but, quoting Wikipedia:Verifiability again, "Even if you are sure something is true, it must have been previously published in a reliable source before you can add it". And these sources need to be in article.
I have added two newspaper articles which confirm he played for TuS Ehringhausen and VfB Schloß Holte.
Thank you for your kind inquiry. Many other users (no names mentioned) could learn from this ;) You're welcome. I try hard to be patient. At the same time, please understand that it is frustrating for other editors when they get the impression they need to explain basic Wikipedia policies to an editor who has been around for a long time and violates them repeatedly. Robby.is.on (talk) 17:58, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Naarh. There are tons of articles that haven't been updated in years. So I think we should take care of those of us who do this voluntarily. No one makes money from it. So I don't understand why people in here aren't just happy that some of us are doing this instead of constantly correcting each other. Everyone knows that my work is something I check before I publish it. I am, and probably never will be, good at sources. But everyone can see that my work is credible. Otherwise, I would have been permanently banned long ago. So the short answer is: NO, I don't understand why people write the way they do in here. This is MY way of working and I do it as best I can. If it HAS to be more than what I do now, then I don't think I will continue as a volunteer on Wikipedia. Fodbold-fan (talk) 18:09, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are tons of articles that haven't been updated in years. Realistically, it's rather unimportant and perhaps even WP:UNDUE where Thomas Bertels played after ending his professional career. We shouldn't feel obligated to include all information we can find.
Wikipedia:Verifiability is non-negotiable. If you were to insist this core content policy does not apply to you, then I would be one of those calling for you to be blocked from editing. It would be a pity but in the collaborative project that Wikipedia is we cannot allow editors to flout basic principles of editing that the community has agreed upon through extensive discussion. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:33, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'm doing pretty well ;) Fodbold-fan (talk) 19:30, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure? You were blocked six times between 2015 and 2019. Since then, you've racked up plenty more warnings for unsourced editing. The community's patience will run out if you continue like this. Robby.is.on (talk) 19:39, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure, yes. I fell that I'm doing Wikipedia a big favor with my editings. It's not vandalism, it's just that I sometimes forget to include the sources.
Also because sometimes adding sources is a bigger project because you have to write a lot of text for the articles, which is already undernourished. Many times I just want to update the infobox, and it's difficult to add sources in the infoboxes. It looks ugly, first of all.
But I'm happy to take advice from you :) Fodbold-fan (talk) 20:07, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vanderwaalforces. Whether it's Instagram or not, the source comes from the Right To Dream Academy's own official profile, so I don't think it CAN get any more credible than that. It's not a player that there is a lot of information about at the moment, which is why I think that what we have right now is optimal and gives a credible and realistic picture of his profile. I hope you can see and agree with that. Fodbold-fan (talk) 18:43, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
