Grid references

I (and another editor) am getting a '503 Service Unavailable' for grid references on articles such a Surrey Wildlife Trust. Thanks for your work maintaining os and can you advise whether this is a temporary problem? — Dudley Miles (talk) 12:08, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

  • Dudley, links such as this have stopped working. I was warned months ago that wmflabs were going to be shut down. What I want to know is why tools.wmflabs.org/geohack, as used by {{coord}}, on the same server is still hacking away. I find this whole toolforge / wmfalbs rather complicated but I do intend to do something about it this matter soon. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:42, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. It will be a major problem if grid refs are permanently down as there are tens of thousands of links to them. Dudley Miles (talk) 22:17, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

OS tool thingamabob

Hi - I was looking at List of Category A listed buildings in Moray (I'm gradually working my way through the list, writing articles about buildings that don't have one), and clicked on one of the OS numbers under the 'Grid Ref' column. I got this 503 'Service Unavailable' error - it says you're the maintainer of the tool, so I came here. Is this a temporary glitch, or is the tool no longer operational - in which case, should I remove all the links to it from the list? Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 17:49, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Please do not delete the links. Please do pester me in a fortnight's time if I have not done something. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:19, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

OK, will do - I visit that list quite often, I'll check it periodically to see if it's fixed. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 07:36, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi RHaworth - I realise it hasn't been a fortnight yet, but thought you might want to know that while the links aren't working yet, the error message has changed - I'm now getting a 404 instead of a 503. Thought that might be helpful, cheers GirthSummit (blether) 09:37, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

It has now been over a fortnight - so a gentle prod to see if you can progress this as lots of OS links are now not operating. — Keith D (talk) 21:01, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Thanks for that - it helps keep me feeling guilty. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:13, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Are you doing anything about this? I am asking because I think I can update the template to link to geohacks using the OS grid reference converted to WGS84. To do so will require some effort and I don't wish to if you are pursuing your own idea. Op47 (talk) 15:21, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
  • I'll take ithat you wish me to hold fire for now. Op47 (talk) 08:48, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi, RHaworth. If you'd like, I can try to convert any code for the os tool to Lua (I'm not an expert). A Lua module might be more maintainable that a separate toolforge thingy. —hike395 (talk) 07:17, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Dudley Miles, GirthSummit, Keith D, Op47, hike395 and anyone else who is interested: I have now done something - see Template talk:OS coord#Getting back up 2019. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:02, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Restore page

Hey there! You recently deleted our ELEM page and I was wondering why. The reasoning provided sadly made no sense. I work for the organization and provided official wording and material and can assure you there was no copyright issue. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.29.95.105 (talk)

Hey, it is indeed I who created the ELEM page. It was in draft stages and was deleted and it showed you as the one who deleted it :/ How should we proceed? — ELEMyid (talk) 19:15, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the kind guidance. I truly am trying here. :D So here goes. (granted the page is now empty and it won't show me my original draft...) en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:ELEM_Youth_in_Distress_in_Israel&action=edit&redlink=1 ELEMyid (talk) 19:17, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

PS - I did copy it with square parenthesis but it won't show after publication. ELEMyid (talk) 19:18, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

  • At least this time you have tried to provide a link but why make it so complicated when the correct link is Draft:ELEM Youth in Distress in Israel. Clearly the first thing you need to do is to learn how to create links in wiki markup both external and internal because another reason for deleting your draft was the lack of links. Clearly you must also address the primary deletion reason as given in the log entry. If ELEM is an acronym, please explain what it stands for. Otherwise even if you shout the name everywhere else, do not do so on Wikipedia: Elem please. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:43, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

Battle of Parker's Ferry?

Hi, I am Ajack87. I wrote an article called the Battle of Parker's Ferry. However, it got deleted for copyright infringement. Can I rewrite it again using legitimate sources? How can I fix it. What sources can I use that would be legal and legitimate for my article? And how do I site them properly? — Ajack87 (talk) 00:27, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Learn to provide a wikilink whenever you refer to a page. also learn the difference between site and cite. Do you actually understand the difference between "using sources" and violating copyright. "Using sources" means: read the sources and then write in your own words. When used in this way almost all sources are legitimate. One of your edits had a summary: "Is this how I add more reliable sources. Am I doing this right?" The answer is yes. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:13, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi! Someone was at the IRC help desk asking for this to be restored. I took a look and, although it's pretty poor-quality at the moment, wasn't entirely certain how it was a U5. Would it be possible to clarify a little how it's a U5, and would you mind if I restore it? Thank you! Enterprisey (talk!) 07:31, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

Several deleted pages on Ethiopian geology

Hello, I received warnings for copyright infringement (copying of sentences, with sources mentioned however. This concerned several pages like this one: Edaga Arbi Glacials. In the "Talk" I mentioned that I was going to rework it within 3 days. Then why to delete those pages? Please leave us some time before undertaking such irremediable actions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jnyssen (talkcontribs)

  • Learn the difference between external links and wikilinks and to sign talk page comments with ~~~~ . No: any "reworking" must be done before you post anything here. "Irremediable" - ridiculous phrase - you are already remedying matters and I am happy to let you have copies of deleted articles: read this. I note you have written this book about the geology of Ethiopia. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:35, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

CSD C1

Hello, RHaworth,

You are so prolific with deleting pages that I thought you were familiar with this category of speedy deletion. Empty categories are tagged and sit for 7 days in Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion before they are deleted. They are not deleted immediately.

There are several reasons for this. Sometimes categories are emptied out of process and sometimes an editor creates a category before they have assigned articles to it. So, I've restored Category:B-Nasty albums and Category:B-Nasty album covers. Feel free to delete them after August 1st or when they appear in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as empty categories. Thank you! Liz Read! Talk! 18:19, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

@Liz: I don't know if I agree. Since B-Nasty was deleted per this AfD, why wouldn't these categories qualify for speedy deletion under G8 as being "dependent on a non-existent or deleted page"? StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:15, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
  • If Liz wants to apply strictly her interpretation of the rules, I am happy to let her. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:35, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

I didn't realize this, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars. I guess I was being rigid. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt for being preachy, RHaworth. — Liz Read! Talk! 20:59, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

Delta Alpha Pi (honor society)

The original nominator Sphilbrick indicated that he thought that the rephrasing that I did for the membership page was sufficient to remove the COPYVIO issue. See User talk:Sphilbrick#Delta Alpha Pi (honor society). — Naraht (talk) 20:51, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

  • You are an experienced editor and should know that you should always provide a link when you talk about any page. The Membership section was too detailed and not needed - just link to the same on the society's website. Restored. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:35, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Belle Delphine

Hi, RHaworth. I've noticed that you (understandably) indefinitely disabled the Belle Delphine article from being created, as it was basically being spam-created. A few days before you did that, however, I began a draft (honestly started this draft mentally a few weeks ago). I just finished that draft that I really do believe should be suitable for the mainspace. I was wondering if you could re-enable that page so I could create it with my draft. Thank you and best wishes, Soulbust (talk) 10:53, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Learn to provide a link whenever you talk about any page. If draft:Belle Delphine is accepted then unprotection of the mainspace title will be uncontroversial. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:31, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of Haji Ajmal Rahmani

Hi I have been informed that you have deleted the page I created for the above person due to infringing on the copyrights of Afghan-bios.inf article. As I stated in the appeal stream, I am the original author of the article, we gave the article for publication to Mr Bruns v Erek the owner of the site afghan-bios but did not give him exclusive ownership of the article, it is for publishing wherever people want to publish it. I am working with Mr Erek to have items of misinformation that are incorrect posted on his website about Mr Rahmani removed hence I didn't post a link to the afghan-bios website until he removes the incorrect information. How can I get this Bio placed on to Wikipedia? You can contact Bruns V. Erek via his website and he will confirm that my employee David Williams sent him the bio but it was always made clear that he did not have any exclusivity to the article. A reply to my question of how I can get this article published on Wikipedia without it being removed would be greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dai Whitelock (talkcontribs)

  • Learn to provide a link whenever you talk about a page. You cannot be bothered to provide a link to the website of Bruns V. Erek so I am not going to look for it. You probably need to make a paid editing or at least CoI declaration when you re-publish. You could try again via AfC. But it might be better if you followed this advice and sought help from someone who knows that we do use peacock phrases such as "prestigious and well respected" in a Wikipedia article and that external links are demoted to the end of it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:36, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of Aston Mics

Rather than delete it without context could you please explain to me why the page had been deleted and how it could have been amended. I've been np context as to what was wrong with the page other than they though I was an affiliate of the company. Could you please restore the article? I am happy to add the Grove entry to the source list. — Chubbles (talk) 12:44, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Alan J Thompson deleted in error

You have deleted my draft biography of a senior scientist with an incorrect assertion of copyright violation. There is no violation of copyright as there is no repetition of material beyond biographical material of fact (which is not subject to copyright) and the page cited neither claims nor has copyright (it is reporting a prize that the biographee won, accompanied by biographic information that is public domain). I would be grateful if you would restore the page that you have deleted which I have created to reference an important doctor and scientist who is not currently described on Wikipedia.

We are obviously not as experienced as you, and would appreciate a lot if you are not so passive aggressive. The people who leave comments here simply try to understand, while the answers to our questions may seem obvious to you, being mean to these contributors are not making matters better, or in fact, is a bit insulting. All of us here are just trying to make wikipedia better or to contribute to things that we are passionate about. By driving users away would not be the best for the Public, nor would that make the users improve or understand Wiki policies. But again, I appreciate your feedback and would do my best along with other editors so we wouldn't have to bother you again. Sincerely.Jjj84206 (talk) 00:12, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Page deletion

You deleted my page Abhishek Kumar Ambar. This time, I made him with more references and more reliable content. But only in a one day you deleted it. Why are you behaving so rudely. There are so many articles that is not fullfill the criteria of an article. But you did not delete them. For example Bashir Mehtaab. He does not give any reliable information and references but this page did not deleted by anyone. You guys are not understanding new users effort. In the Article Abhishek Kumar Ambar I give references of most reliable websites of India. For example Rekhta, KavitaKosh, Webdunia, SahityaKunj, AmarUjala(Newspaper) etc. There are also many websites like Celebrityborn, Star-news etc. But you did not read articles about Abhishek Kumar Ambar on this website. I think you don't know hindi then how you can understand the references of this Article. He is the poet of 19 years old. 19 year old people of other profession have there wikipedia. But a writer and poet cannot have. Please understand and republish the my article Abhishek Kumar Ambar. Or I you feel it is not fullfill the criteria then go to the reference links. And also check pages like Bashir Mehtaab which did not fullfill any criteria of Wikipedia. — Swapnil Kaustubh (talk) 03:09, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Thank you, and apologies for the dumb part of the question. I was more concerned with what content had been deleted, and should have been more straightforward.

The first sentence would be: "Shmoop is an EdTech company founded in 2008 by Ellen Siminoff and David Siminoff, who served as CEO and Chief Creative Officer, respectively." - I can provide additional content if you need it to qualify my request, as well. -- Mgander12 (talk) 22:51, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

  • I wanted to see the first sentence because the deleted article at Shmoop is about a dog on MySpace and I wanted to check that you were not repeating it. So, reluctantly because you are just a spammer, I have restored it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:47, 7 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Tendyow, even before I opened the article the title told me "this is likely to be unencyclopedic in style". I was going to advise you to re-write draft:Jane Ogbuigwe heavily before submitting it. It will serve you right if the MfD discussion decides to delete. Make sure you keep a copy of your text - I may be reluctant to restore it a second time. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 22:55, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi RHaworth, I just checked the draft and it looks like unambiguous COPYVIO from this page. I made this point at the deletion discussion, but thought you might want to know as I suspect it needs to be speedied. GirthSummit (blether) 23:59, 7 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi RHaworth, Please the page @ this page is still the page I manage because I built the website and currently still managing the website for the organization that I am working for, so please can I still use the contents on the Wikipedia article page since I'm the one that still produced the article on the site? Though I will further improve on the contents on the Wikipedia article page, I understand that it has been deleted based on Wikipedia's policy due to infringement, I totally understand that and no problem at all but the content is my product. I also noticed the change of the title from "Mrs Jane Ogbuigwe - A Quintessential Woman" to "Mrs Jane Ogbuigwe", which I do know how and when I did it by mistake which is not what I wanted at all. the name I wanted is still "Mrs Jane Ogbuigwe - A Quintessential Woman" not "Mrs Jane Ogbuigwe" though I will rewrite the whole article before publishing it again on Wikipedia article page as advised by Mr. RHaworth. Thanks — Tendyow (10:56, 8 August 2019‎ (GMT))

  • Tendyow, the new title was not "Mrs Jane Ogbuigwe". The fact that you think that you changed the title shows that you have not learnt to read an edit history. Your asking for a silly title and the entire text of the article shows that you have made no attempt whatsoever to study Wikipedia style. Please cite me even one biography article here where the title is not simply the name of the person.
Now, it might be possible for you in time to learn Wikipedia style but there is little point in doing so because Jane Ogbuigwe would almost certainly be deemed non-notable. So, sadly, my advice is: give up. Any further attempts are likely to result in grief for you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:49, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Hi RHaworth. I had a nomination for speedy deletion, consequently the deletion of my page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:ErinaEffe/sandbox. I hope this is the right wikilink I suppose to send you. Well, at the time of my deletion I was on the talk page with Jimfbleak, another Wikipedian volunteer, who was kindly explaining to me the mistakes I have made. I never got the chance to adjust again my article. I know I have been trying a few times but as you can see I am a wikipedia virgin. I would really like to understand how can I get my wikipage back. Thanks, ErinaEffe (talk) 09:27, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

  • It was not a wikilink and only right in the sense that it did point to the page in question. Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no CoI thinks Jan Klein is notable and writes about him here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:49, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Please do not delete this article, it is needed for verification in vk !!!!!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1joewikis (talkcontribs) 17:15, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

  • I have no idea what "verification in vk2 means but it looks to me like using Wikipedia as a free host. Incidentally, please decide on the spelling of your name - I have seen at least three different versions in Latin alphabet and, I think, two different in Cyrillic. The preferred version in Latin is probably Aliaksei Pechkurov. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:07, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

Deleted: Advisory Council on Libraries

I started creating this page, my first new page, on Aug 9th but you speedily deleted it due to copyright issues which I'm not disagreeing with - I can't find the wikilink now, only this https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Advisory_Council_on_Libraries&action=edit&redlink=1 which I don't think is your edit. I am trying to write a new page on the same thing but I would appreciate it if you could let me have what you deleted so I can write it in my own words, thanks. PRBham (talk) 13:05, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

As I pointed out in WP:VPM#A reminder not to WP:BITE the newbies, "Subject already exist in Mainspace" is not a WP:CSD. Would you please revert your deletion of this? -- RoySmith (talk) 23:41, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Some student projects are flawed because the tutor does not understand our ways. But that is not the case here. Team 8 were given clear instructions here which they have simply ignored:
  • "Select one group member whose sandbox space you'll all share to draft your article"
  • "Copy your edits into the article." Instead they applied an AfC submit tag.
Restored. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:07, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

Thank you. Students are given clear instructions all the time and fail to execute properly. Making mistakes is how you learn. None of which adds up to "Subject already exist in Mainspace" being a CSD. -- RoySmith (talk) 11:15, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

Martin Guigui

Hello, you recently deleted a page for Martin Guigui. Why was this page deleted and how can I improve the content? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tevanssake72 (talkcontribs) 14:02, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

  • For the deletion reason please read this. The best way to improve the content is for you to wait until someone with no CoI thinks the guy (you?) is notable and writes about him here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:15, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Cressey College

Hello, RHaworth. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Cressey College".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Dom from Paris (talk) 21:41, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

Deleted Article

Dear RHaworth, I just received a message saying that an article I contributed was deleted. I have been trying to get this article Jeff Knoll published for many months now, but the draft is now deleted. What can I do to undelete the draft and try and get it published? Thanks, Daffodillpickle Daffodillpickle (talk) 21:52, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

  • "Trying for many months" - the evidence is that you have done nothing in that direction during the last six months so the page got deleted. Restored. Remember that you need to click on the "submit for review" button! Notability is still dubious so before you submit, I suggest you seek help here or here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:23, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
  • You probably are Jeff Knoll. I see that the first version of Jeff Knoll was created by Informer-bot (talk · contribs) whose only edits were to create Encore Cinemas and Jeff Knoll. The second version was created by Jeffknoll (talk · contribs). — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:48, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Just a note

Hi Ray, hope all is good. As you are one of the admins who deleted Swiggy, this is just a note to give you a heads-up that I am rewriting the article. Warmly, Lourdes 12:32, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Please correct your gross incompetence by restoring the history of this page, because it looks now as if I wrote it, but I didn't. — Phil Bridger (talk) 19:32, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

While I wouldn't express it so harshly, I agree with Phil Bridger that your deletion of the article under A11 was inappropriate, for although the article did not reference a source, it did not "plainly indicate" that it was made up as required for A11. I was about to remove the A11 on that basis when you deleted it. Please restore the history of the page. — teb728 t c 21:40, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
Phil Bridger, see also Draft:Brain storm optimization, which was deleted as an abandoned draft. — Bellezzasolo Discuss 21:56, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
  • This reply is addressed to teb728 and Bellezzasolo - Phil Bridger's message was rude and imprecise so I would have ignored it. There are no deleted edits at brain storm optimization. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:33, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I am writing to ask what specifically qualified the draft of Draft:ASA Automotive Systems, Inc. for deletion? I am the person who created it. Please allow me to create an article that will not be deleted. I only included unbiased facts in the page and I did not create it for the purpose of promotion. I also have seen other, less notable software companies with Wikipedia articles, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Thank you, Shanmckmoran (talk) 19:35, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

  • You shot yourself in the foot. Look at the history: you created the page with a speedy deletion tag in place. You are probably just a spammer but I will let a regular draft reviewer decide. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:33, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

I'm not a spammer, but I thank you for your help. Obviously, I am new to this. --Shanmckmoran (talk) 18:35, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello RHaworth, I'm the author of the article Exile Memorial Museum. It seems that Diannaa marked my article for speedy deletion, under an alleged copyright violation. The thing is that the sentence I used from the source that I quoted (http://patrimoni.gencat.cat/en/collection/museum-exiles) comes from a public entity (Generalitat of Catalonia) that specifically states that it's not copyrighted (http://patrimoni.gencat.cat/en/authors-rights): The Administration allows for the re-use of content and information by everyone with no time limits or restrictions other than the basic conditions established in article 8 of Law 37/2007 (quote from source, no alteration or change in the nature of the information and specification from the date of the last update). That's why I used that sentence. Being this the case, can the article be restored? Otherwise, you can also restore the article so that I can edit that part of the text that is under an alleged copyright infringement. Thanks for the comprehension -- Beethoven (talk) 21:07, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Beethoven. The license specifies "no alteration or change in the nature of the information", which is not compatible with our license, because our license does permit modifications. Their license also specifies "Mention the date on which the information was last updated" and we can't guarantee that people who re-use Wikipedia content (which begins to happen almost immediately) will abide by that condition. I suggest that you re-write the material in your own words. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:08, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa, I don't have any problem with that. If you bring back the article I can re-write that sentence which came from that source.

As a side note, take into account that this license does seem to allow for modifications. It only establishes that those modifications can't alter the nature of the information. Article 8 of the Law 37/2007 establishes that public administrations might decide to impose some conditions on the re-use of information. Those conditions are divided by letters: a) No modification of the content, b) Not denature of the sense of the information, c) Quote the source, etc. In this case, the Catalan government doesn't include the letter a), but the b). Meaning one can modify it, but without an alteration in the nature. But I guess, as you said, that we can't control that people who re-use Wikipedia content will abide by that condition. So it's better to just re-write that part with my own words. -- Beethoven (talk) 23:27, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

  • I agree with Diannaa: the simplest thing is to re-write in your own words. I can let you have the text: read this. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:15, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Feel free to send me the text when you can. -- Beethoven (talk) 13:55, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

July-August 2019 European heat wave

What criteria for speedy deletion does this meet? — Interstellarity (talk) 21:51, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

This page was deleted twice. The first time by you after I created an RFD for that. Then a bot recreated it, I tagged it then a different administrator deleted it. I understand why the second administrator deleted it, but why did you delete it the first time? — Interstellarity (talk) 17:40, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

  • If you wanted it deleted, what does it matter if somebody else also wanted it deleted? It was deleted because Jax 0677 had applied a valid {{db-author}} tag. And yes, I should have used that as the deletion reason. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:39, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Page Deletion

(moved this to its own section) creffett (talk) 23:50, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Ray, I just noticed you deleted a page I created for Andrew Lee. What could be the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmekidmfon (talkcontribs) 16:22, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

  • The main problem is that you have not learnt to use all the wonderful tools that the MediaWiki software provides. You have not provided a link so I have to guess that you are talking about Andrew Lee (Entrepreneur). You have not learnt to read the deletion/move log otherwise you would be able to guess that the substantive content of the page I deleted was #REDIRECT [[Draft:Andrew Lee (Entrepreneur)]]. And at the time you left the above message your contributions history would also have given a clue. Yes indeed: Wikipedia is very discriminatory: we disciminate on grounds of notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:15, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Request your valuable inputs

Hi RHaworth, We request your valuable inputs on our Gulaq page to edit the content and make it wiki worthy. It would be helpful if you can point out the sections or specific texts we should remove/edit in order to get the page published. Looking forward to your response. Thanks Ravinder — Preceding unsigned comment added by Malikravinder (talkcontribs) 11:55, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

  • There has never been a page called Gulaq and I recommend you not to create one. Following this advice will help save your valuable time. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:39, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Draft:VELTRA

Hi RHaworth,

With regard to the deletion of Draft:VELTRA, it is a translation project of ja:ベルトラ, and I believe that the information of the company in English meets the interest of general public as the firm also operates the business globally. Regards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by VT TMTMR (talkcontribs) 14:00, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Since I happen to be visiting here, even in promotionalism were removed, the company would not meet our requirements in WP:NCORP -- I point out the stock exchange listing is the auxiliary listing for still developing companies, which we typically consider Not Yet Notable. The enWP requirements for companies are stricter than most other WPs. DGG ( talk ) 03:54, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Page Deletion on grounds of advertisement

My page for Evan Nagao (World YoYo Champion) was deleted. I quoted the descriptions from a site called yoyoexpert because I was unaware it constituted an advertisement as I put it in a quote. Can I recover my draft and change it for resubmission? I do not work for Yoyoexpert (which I quoted) or Yoyofactory (the subject's employer). This was my first experience writing an article on Wikipedia, and if there are any other reasons for the deletion, please let me know so I do not make the same mistake again in the future. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrblackhole (talkcontribs) 23:25, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

Laundering promotion with quotes doesn't make it any less promotional. Acroterion (talk) 23:44, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

I understand, which is why I, if I am able to recover the draft, will delete the quotes and only put specs. If that is considered promotion as well, I could also just state the models that the player has made with the company? — Mrblackhole (talk) 00:02, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Or whoever has the ability to recover the document can just give me the draft without that section (Signature Yo-Yos) at all, and I can rewrite it. — Mrblackhole (talk) 01:28, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Ignore this request, recreated draft without section on “signature yoyos” If you can provide it, a little advice on how to write about commercial products without being promotional would be helpful. — Mrblackhole (talk) 04:14, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

  • Only write about commercial products of unquestionable notability. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:20, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
