History of women in the military[edit]

I took a "peek" at your work and all I can say is that I am truly impressed. When you're finished, let me know i would like to see the finished product. Keep up the good work, we need more people like you here. Cheers! Tony the Marine 19:21, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

History of women in the military[edit]

I am writing you in regards to the History of Women in the Military article, specifically your recent edits to the Ancient Section. There is really no need to put the timeline into a paragraph format, as the events in question have no real relation to each other other than all taking place in the Ancient Era. It's probably a good idea to write out paragraphs for well-documented eras such as World War I and World War II, but as for Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern, and pre-20th century warfare, it is much more clear to simply keep them in timeline format. Asarelah 19:56, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah you're right, I was torn between the two. Have taken your advice, cheers--SGGH 20:03, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

More kudos[edit]

You've done some really excellent work on the History of women in the military article. Thanks. Jinian 13:44, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

History of women in the military[edit]

Great! I really enjoyed your article. You may want to take a looks at this 24 year-old leader, whom I believe may have been the only women to have led a revolt against the United States and add her to your article. She is Blanca Canales. Read about her and enjoy. Tony the Marine 19:39, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Added her, but the honour should be yours for writing about a Puerto Rican. --SGGH 19:57, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Carmen Contreras-Bozak Award[edit]

Thankyou, that's very kind, shall wear that one with pride! --SGGH 20:56, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

hi there.[edit]

I just saw your post on the Military History Wiki Project about Mozambiquan War of Independence, and I wanted to get your opinion on the possibility of eventually setting up a Project Task-Force dealing with African Military history. Back in August, I suggested a task-force dealing with the declian of colonialism in Africa and African independance wars, post-colonial African civil-wars, and wars between African states. The Idea didn't go too far, but maybe we can keep it in mind for the future. Mike McGregor (Can) 00:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Image:Argentagapbattle1.gif[edit]

Greetings. I notice you uploaded Image:Argentagapbattle1.gif after getting permission from the webmaster to use it on Wikipedia. Do you know if the copyright holder agreed to license it with the GFDL, or if only Wikipedia is allowed to use it? If only Wikipedia can use it, then, ironically, we can't use it. (This is because we want to be free for re-users, so we choose not to use images that re-users couldn't also use.) Just let me know. – Quadell (talk) (random) 18:01, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:Barnstar[edit]

Thank you for the Barnstar and the kind words. It is a very special one since it is the "first" one that you have awarded. if you ever need some advice or anything and you feel that I may be of some help, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Now I'm going to bore you by sharing one of the many unusual things that have happened to me because of Wikipedia (smile).

One day someone requested that I write about Hispanic Medal of Honor recipients and I did. During my research, I came upon a Captain Humbert Roque Versace, however there wasn't any info on him. After I researched him, I found out that he was of Puerto Rican descent and that the Puerto Ricans had never heard about him. I discovered that "El Monumento de la Recordacion" in Puerto Rico which is dedicated to Puerto Ricans who had fallen in combat, did not have his nor Captain Manuel Rivera's name inscribed (I wrote both their bio's).

I started a movement with some people that I know in the island, the government and some of the magazines which I write for, to have their names inscribed. Finally, the President of the Puerto Rican Senate informed me that thier names will inscribed and that I and the family members of those heroes are invited as guests of the PR government to the unveiling on Memorial Day in May 2007.

So, you never know where your work in Wiki might take you. Your friend Tony the Marine 20:44, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Law Enforcement[edit]

Thanks for the invite to the project (now we are 3). My police interest is primarily historical, which most police articles seem to lack (although I notice you added a history section to Special Constabulary). I don't have a lot of time but should be able to add in some useful material when I get a chance. Also, I'm writing from Canada, where policing draws from both US and UK models (even our own famous RCMP are a sort of hybrid). All too often I find that the two models are treated as completely separate, so maybe I can help bridge the two to make general police-related articles less country-specific somewhat. cheers, Bobanny 15:49, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

YOT[edit]

I did some copyediting on the YOT article, hopefully for the better. One thing that seems to be missing is some kind of evaluation of the program. Has it been criticized? Young offender laws and remedies can be controversial, since public opinion tends to be polarized on the issue. Also, there's probably been some attempt to professionally evaluate the program, i.e., has it made a measurable difference in youth imprisonment/recidivism rates compared with pre-1998 stats, for example? That kind of thing - something that indicates the response to the program and/or its consequences.Bobanny 08:18, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

My Apologies[edit]

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I would be delighted to assist where I can with the WikiProject, and if there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to drop me a message, or email me at chachu201 <at> airliners <dot> net

Law Enforcement Project Award[edit]

Many thanks for this. It's nice to have one's work recognised. Cheers. -- Necrothesp 17:36, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

I like it. But I prefer the text to the right of the image, using the award template. See my user page. Cheers. -- Necrothesp 17:49, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Special Constabulary[edit]

Hi. Actually, I'm not a very experienced SC at all. Although I've been studying police history and organisation for years, I've only fairly recently become a bobby myself. I think most forces are pretty weak on the admin side of things for SCs - I need a lot more experience before I'll be confident that I'm at all good at it. Cheers. -- Necrothesp 15:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your award!, I will cherish this in a new award page, I will be creating :-) Dep. Garcia (Talk to Me) 17:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Lol[edit]

Yeah, I didn't suppose you were that upset -- when someone mispells the word "idiot" on one's talk page, it's a little hard to get too angry. I was sitting on his contribs page and saw him do it. Cheers. Dina 13:58, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Project Law Enforcement[edit]

Hi there. Apologies for the very long delay in replying to your message about joining the above project. Since then, a new project on firefighting has been started and I've joined that, as it's more my area. I don't want to commit to too many projects, for fear of becoming a slave to Wikipedia - or more of a slave. I do take an active interest in law enforcement articles though, so I'm sure I'll continue to contribute. Regards, Escaper7 15:54, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Which article?[edit]

Sorry, you did not mention which page you were talking about in your message. Cheers. Dina 20:06, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Well it was just speedy tagged as a copyvio, so that sorts it. Yeah, if it wasn't a copyvio it was certainly a candidate for both wikify and cleanup tags. I'm not sure if I personally would have brought it to Afd. Sometimes with articles like that I like to rewrite the lead sentence, in proper wikiformat, and then keep an eye on it. You could also stub it (do a quick rewrite of the basic stuff at the top, put a stub tag on it, and then C&P the whole timeline, first person stuff at the bottom into the Talkpage, with a note, so an interested party could sort through it if they wanted to). Adding categories and stubs helps with subjects that aren't in your area -- they will direct people who know more about the subject to them, and then they can decide about notability. Though I suspect it probably wouldn't survive an Afd. Hard to say without researching if the company is genuinely notable, so IMHO, if I weren't interested enough to do the research, then I wouldn't put it up for Afd. Others disagree, however. Cheers. My editor review[edit]

Thanks for the review SGGH. Unfortunately, I don't stick around in one of my favorite articles because almost all of the articles I like contain almost all the information the article needed. I'll probably stick to reverting vandalism because I don't want people to read nonsensical pages. Again, thank you for the review.--PrestonH | talk | contribs | editor review | 02:59, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Sıla Article[edit]

Thanks for approving? my Sıla article. I've expanded it a lot since you posted that tag expansion. I'm wondering if I can remove it (the tag) now? -- WiiVolve 07:49, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Feliz Navidad
[edit]

O.K., so maybe you don't believe in Santa, but I still want to wish you and your loved ones a "Happy Holidays" and all of the happiness in the world and the best new year ever. Your friend, Tony the Marine 23:55, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Re Camp Mosey Wood[edit]

In that case, User:BSA Archery has clearly broken Wikipedia rules as per WP:AfD. The article clearly isn't notable enough to be on Wikipedia, and guidelines specifically prohibit deleting an AfD on your own article. I'm going to re-do the AfD, and if BSA Archery deletes it again, please report this to an admin. Walton monarchist89 16:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
