Forza Minardi! book

Hi Readro,

I saw on the Library page of WP:MOTOR that you have this book I am interested in, Forza Minardi!

How is it? Would you recommend it?

-- Guroadrunner (talk) 11:54, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

[1] I knew it started somewhere around the 50's/60's but didn't know the exact year! Hopefully I'll be able to set up the transformation in the Wiki-space within the next few days. ;-) D.M.N. (talk) 16:21, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds better. Thanks. =) D.M.N. (talk) 14:32, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Just thinking... for books like Forza Minardi, would they go under Biography, as its like a biography of the Minardi team. D.M.N. (talk) 14:39, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Good point. I'll probably make a General F1 section then for books of that type then. D.M.N. (talk) 14:50, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I've adjusted the table for the 1963, '64 and '65 Autosport years so that match the changes you made to '61 and '62. Could you fill out the Date and Details section when you have a spare minute? Thanks. D.M.N. (talk) 18:14, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. D.M.N. (talk) 18:17, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

If it's a page which normally gets moderate/high traffic, then I normally would (say for instance if I wanted to reference a current F1 article, I'd probably edit it in my sandbox, then paste it into the mainspace), but with the 1995 ones, I don't really see much point of it as I'm unlikely to be edit conflicted, plus others can actively add info to it when its in the mainspace. D.M.N. (talk) 19:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that would be fitting. I think at the moment the aim with an article like that when he was in him prime 80 years ago, a GA would be quite possible. Not sure whether FA would be possible though... depends what sources are out there on him. D.M.N. (talk) 16:04, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:GP2 logo.png)

Thanks for uploading File:GP2 logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:27, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Kudos for noticing it. I just saw the Caesars Palace part and reverted. Completely my fault. So once again, cheers. :) Cs-wolves(talk) 22:32, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Archiving online refs

Howdy. You may want to consider archiving urls when using the {{Cite web}} template. That template uses the "archiveurl" and "archivedate" parameters. A website I use to archive urls is WebCite.--Rockfang (talk) 03:08, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I've been looking at doing an expansion on Rudi's page for a bit, to see if we could get it on the main page for the 50th anniversary of his death (the 28th of September this year). I've been doing a fair amount of research - I've read his autobiography (very interesting), and have been looking through some of my other books, and have collected what appear to be useful and reliable (most of them) websites here. Looking through the motorsports library, it looks like you have some books which might be useful. Once I saw that you started Rudi's page (and might have some interest in the subject) I wondered whether you would like to have a collaboration on the article, or if not, tell me if you have anything interesting on him. :) Thanks, Apterygial 11:49, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Great! I didn't check the whole history of the page, which explains why I didn't catch all those other editors. The research I've been doing hasn't been able to turn up much of his career from 1926 to 1930, so that DVD could certainly be very useful (as well as the rest of his career). I'm off to my state library on Friday to look through their books, and I'll probably start on the article this weekend. Apterygial 10:13, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I've started working on the article in my sandbox, if you wanted to add some stuff. Apterygial 06:42, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Sure. If you get a mo, could you add a bit about RC's donation of trophies to the Indy 500 museum to the Legacy section? Thanks. Apterygial 03:06, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

An exciting opportunity to get involved!

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 05:01, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

It's a tricky one. Lang was declared Champion, but whether he deserved to be is a different matter. We could include his name in the template and add a (disputed) after his name. (I choked a little when I saw Rosemeyer's name there...) Apterygial 23:46, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

That's probably the best way of going about it (we'd probably have to remove both names from Template:European Grand Prix Drivers' Champions). Damn those meddling Nazis... Apterygial 23:58, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Readro! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Yes, thanks very much for that. Now all I have to do is find a volunteer to take on the duplicate set on nl.wikipedia.org. Or get someone to teach me how to do it. Allen Brown (talk) 11:07, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

1930 Pau Grand Prix

Hi Readro. I noticed your recent addition of the 1930 race to the list of Winners of the Pau Grand Prix. I normally wouldn't question one of your edits, but I notice that this 8W page and French Grand Prix suggest that the race held at Pau in 1930 was actually the "Grand Prix de l'ACF" rather than the "Pau Grand Prix". I don't have any real expertise about the Pau Grand Prix but thought it was worth mentioning in case you wanted to check it out. Regards. DH85868993 (talk) 02:25, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

P.S. What do you think we should do with Category:Grand Prix de Pau - leave it as is, redirect it to Category:Pau Grand Prix or get it deleted? DH85868993 (talk) 02:48, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

The last of the formula libre Singapore Grands Prix in 1973

Hi. In the section on history of the Singapore Grand Prix, you write [13] that a surge in oil prices due to the Suez Crisis has been seen as a reason for the 1973 race to be the last for decades. However, the Suez Crisis was in 1956. I would suggest it was rather the 1973 oil crisis which could have led to the folding of the GP, but I don't have the book you used as a source. Could you perhaps take a closer look at this? John Anderson (talk) 00:39, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
