Thank you for asking. You can reuse almost any photo on Wikipedia that does not have a "Fair Use" license. My uploads have an attribution requirement which can be as simple as "Wikipedia" or "Americasroof at Wikipedia." The best place for photos of Harlem is http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Harlem I have several in there. You can also see photos at National Register of Historic Places listings in Manhattan above 110th Street. Thanks again for asking. Americasroof (talk) 21:02, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Zimmer Real Estate Services requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb (talk) 05:05, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

This company develops large iconic industrial buildings in Kansas City including the 4 million square foot Sprint-Nextel headquarters, the new headquarters of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the headquarters of Russell Stovers Candies and is now building a plant to build 85 percent non-nuclear components of the country's arsenal. This was all stated in the article when the prod was placed on it ONE MINUTE after its initial creation. 05:53, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated Zimmer Real Estate Services, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zimmer Real Estate Services. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Betty Cooper Hearnes-separate article

Hi! I think the article about Betty Cooper Hearnes, widow of former Missouri Governor Warren Hearnes should reestablished as a separate article. Betty Hearnes served in the Missouri House of Representatives for a few years and state legislators are consider to be notable. Just because Betty Hearnes was first lady of Missouri does not means the article should not had been redirected on that basis alone. She was in the state legislature and had her own career separated from her husband. Thank you-RFD (talk) 13:27, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

I agree with you. I was not party to any of the redirects. I greatly expanded section on her on the governor's page. Sounds like you have a project. Americasroof (talk) 15:44, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
I started an article about Betty Cooper Hearnes. You may want to transfer information from the article on Warren Hearnes to the article. I also started an article about Ruth Bachhuber Doyle. She served in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Her husband James Doyle, Sr. was an United States District Court judge in Wisconsin and her son is Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin. No one said anything about merging that article with that of her husband or son.Thank you again-RFD (talk) 17:21, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I see the governor information has already been transferred. Americasroof (talk) 02:45, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

talkback

Hello, Americasroof. You have new messages at MegaSloth's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

A tag has been placed on High school sports associations in New York, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Feel free to use hangon if content is going to be added.Clockbox (talk) 00:52, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

If I knew how to delete it I would have put a tag on it. It was supposed to be a category. Thanks.Americasroof (talk) 00:54, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Montauk Association Historic District

Hi Americasroof, I am very pleased there's a 2007 pic by you illustrating Montauk Association Historic District. Do you happen to have any more? If you snapped some more of other houses in the neighborhood, perhaps the NRHP document photos would suffice now to identify whether those are in the district. Thanks anyhow for contributing the nice pic of one, nestling into the landscape. --doncram (talk) 20:33, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you so much for starting the article. Getting photos is no easy task since the whole thing is private property and it is clearly posted. There are some other angles I can snap but the straight on shots we would like require getting permission from the Association. I will try to work on it. Thanks again for starting the article! Americasroof (talk) 21:25, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

The article John H. Felt has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
John H. Feltnews, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a architect that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ndkl (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Villa Maria

Hi there A-roof. I heard you were the go-to guy for photos in Long Island. If so, is there any chance you could hop down sometime to take a photo of Villa Maria? I recently wrote the article but could barely find a single photo of it on the web, and none suitable for Wikipedia.

If you can manage to get down there, a shot of the front of the building would be ideal, it's a lot more interesting than the back, but it might be hard to get a photo of it because it's private property and you may need permission. Gatoclass (talk) 08:57, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for writing such a wonderful article on Villa Maria. It was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise to see such a well developed article on the building. As you noted in the article the property is now private property thus it is a little more difficult to get a head on shot from its lawn. I'll nose around and see what I can do. These quests are always fun. Thanks. Americasroof (talk) 12:06, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
P.S. I just did a quick google map. Every good angle also looks to be private property so I may get stuck with behind or on the side for now. Americasroof (talk) 12:19, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I thought there might be problems with getting a shot of the front, because the few photos I've seen on the web are all from the rear. All the same, you never know. Thankyou for the quick response and the additions to the article :) Gatoclass (talk) 17:13, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
BTW, don't know if you are anywhere near the area, but I also recently did an article on the Brooklyn Waterworks. It's in ruins today, but perhaps a little shot of the facade as it is today might add something to the article. If you do manage to get down there, I suggest you watch your step as I've read there are some deep holes in the grounds and in the building itself. Gatoclass (talk) 17:16, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I might ask the Corcoran real estate agent (they're the ones who posted the website and who have it listed on their website) if I can get a shot. Now all I have to do is convince them I have $100 million in pocket change. ;-) My weekend house is in eastern Long Island in Suffolk County, the waterworks is in western Long Island in Nassau County. I can add it to my list of possible places I might run by but I can't guarantee anything. It certainly couldn't do it before daylight savings takes effect. I don't know of any other people who might be willing to do it. User:DanTD is about the only other person who contributes photos island wide but he lives in Florida. Anyway these little adventures are fun -- especially when it's supporting a well developed article. Thanks!Americasroof (talk) 17:53, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Because I have "doctrinal differences"

with some of the editors of the Sculpture of the United States article I do very little editing there know but was intrigued by your recent Legal issues regarding photographs section. Does this information suggest to you that all of the post 1923 sculptures pictured in the article, for example, are copyright violations? Over the years I have had dozens, perhaps a hundred or more pictures of sculpture removed because of the copyright issue. I am a slow learner, but I no longer post such images. But I do find myself wondering how much longer such legal arguments will be able to hold sway over the power of the internet. I hope that I live long enough to discover the answer. (I'm an oldish wikipedian) Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 18:49, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I've gotten dinged on several sculpture photos and it's hard to find the specifics of why anywhere on Wikipedia. I was hoping to at least start the dialogue by putting the case in several places hoping that "experts" would come forward. It's a very hot button that seems to be the blind leading the blind without any article backup. Americasroof (talk) 18:55, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

The way I've come to understand it is that if I write an article about a particular statue ( Spirit of the American Doughboy - for example) it is okay to use a picture, but if the article is about the sculptor or something even broader, such as equestrian sculpture, then it is forbidden. This was explained to me by a Harvard Law School student, so who am I, mere mortal, to disagree. And, of course, (one of 23 words or phrases that all mean my opinion) there is always the chance that he's right. I can see if someone makes 23 million dollars off your design where some of that should come back, but that's not the case on wikipedia. But I like that you've put it out there. Thanks. Carptrash (talk) 20:06, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Nice!

Oh, very nice! Thankyou so much for taking the trouble :) Gatoclass (talk) 23:24, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

My pleasure. It was fun. They're building a new bridge by it so I was able to get a better angle than I expected. Thanks again for such a wonderful article. Americasroof (talk) 23:41, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Dozens killed in deadly mine explosion! Film at eleven!

Yeah, your recent addition to Southeast Missouri Lead District seems to me to be ambiguously worded. St. Joe, then Doe Run, over time consolidated all the mining under one company, but in the past (don't have the reference handy) there were many dozens of mining companies operating in the old lead belt. That sounds like an "explosion" (expansion) of activity to me. In the Viburnum Trend subdistrict there originally were several companies operating. Consolidation ≠ explosion if the activity was already underway. All of which is to say that I don't know, from the entry, what it is you're trying to say. Would also be nice to see a citation. --Kbh3rdtalk 00:54, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

I know what you mean. I usually steer clear of hot button main articles as they attract loonie rants with little concern for accuracy. I'm catching these errors and omissions as I work on the Timeline article which doesn't hit the hot buttons and doesn't get hampered by the pressure to instantly analyze. With a timeline you can just report what happened that day. I've done a lot on Transocean and will continue to work the support articles. One of these days I will add a table on the fleet working the spill (the seeds of which are on the Transocean article). The lack of specifics on that in the main article is another glaring omission. Thanks for wading into the fire.Americasroof (talk) 19:26, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm coming around to your point of view: the timeline looks like a better use of my time than trying to convert radicals to WP policies and procedures. I'm losing assumption of good faith. I'd rather stay positive, perhaps with timeline work for a change of pace. I greatly appreciate your efforts at putting together a purely factual resource that will certainly help maintain a standard of references to reliable sources and, perhaps someday, help ensure a rock solid basis for summary style and NPOV in main article. (We can dream, can't we?) I would propose two things: 1. External links section to other timelines on the topic (preferring those with stable URLs), which I can do later this evening, and, something I can work over this month, 2. double check against my growing Zotero database of citations for factoids from some three reliable sources I check daily: NYT & nola.com & BBC -- rationale being timelines derived from three highly reliable sources of varying strengths & outlooks (all with history of stable URLs) may be used to cross-check each other and then check against this timeline for completeness. In the meantime, what are your methods? Thoughts? Paulscrawl (talk) 13:58, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments. I've come to the conclusion that a timeline or chronological discussion is about the only way to handle any current event or living person (and for that matter even major historical figures). There's no way we can instantly analyze and categorize something this big and complex. The oil spill article is unreadable to me. I've been enjoying building it as it's almost a blog now. This could well be the most fleshed out timeline on Wikipedia. I started using the WSJ timeline and the article. Since then I've been adding material by just reading news sources and most importantly drolling the official spill pages (for the government and BP). Those pages are quite detailed and actually very good. The government pages give you cool photos. BP unfortunately has great pictures but doesn't license them in a Wiki friendly manner. If something doesn't make sense I search for its background and usually find a treasure trove of other interesting data. Thanks again and I look forward to your contributions.Americasroof (talk) 14:43, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:45, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Chillicothe-litton.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Chillicothe-litton.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:19, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Clement Keys requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Crazynas t 12:12, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Timeline of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (May 2010). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Timeline of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Timeline of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Jimmy Pitt (talk) 13:12, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Fair use rationale for File:Croy-watertower.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Croy-watertower.jpg. i was wondering if you could give a look at Talk:Albuquerque Plaza, and give your opinion. --emerson7 05:53, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

The article Time of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (August 2010) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unlikely search term.

That's o.k. It was a typo.Americasroof (talk) 15:33, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

File:Dag1-tower.jpg

Can you confirmed the location of these high-rises as the info for this image incorrectly claims the building as One Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.Xnatedawgx (talk) 18:46, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Franey-claiborne.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Franey-claiborne.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 13:33, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Mel Tjeerdsma

Americasroof, I just made a bunch of edits on Mel Tjeerdsma to clean up the article and bring the infobox and head coaching record table in line with standards. I see that you created the article and contributed most of its content. You might want to circle back and take another look to see if more can be added. In particular, I marked a couples of items that should definitely be cited. Thanks. Jweiss11 (talk) 02:06, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank you so much for cleaning up the article and bring it up to speed. I am currently out of pocket. I will look more closely at the edits in the next couple of weeks. But a quick look see shows that you did a great job! Thanks! And thanks for the courtesy to give me a heads up!Americasroof (talk) 02:34, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Cerner2.jpg - Got more like it?

Hi,

I really like the photo of Cerner you posted. [1] The sky is a beautiful shade of blue. I see you've licensed it under Creative Commons. If I'm understanding the license correctly, it's free for re-use. However, you should be attributed. If I were to re-use it, how would you like to be attributed?

And, by chance, do you happen to have more like it? A land-scape (instead of portrait) of the same building would be very useful.

-Thanks, Drew

Thank you for your comments. I do have more photos but this is the only one I released to commons. For attribution you can say "americasroof/wikipedia. Thanks for asking.Americasroof (talk) 15:24, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

I didn't put that link on there to begin with. It has been on the article for a long time. All I could do was remove it which I did. Thanks.Americasroof (talk) 14:01, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Another question for you on the Altschuler page. Cheers, SlimVirgin talk|contribs 18:42, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
I of course do not agree with the editing but since this is an aggressively edited article. I will abandon it.Americasroof (talk) 21:16, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

May I use your photo of Country Club Plaza?

Hello, May I use your photo (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Kc-country-club-plaza.jpg) for a travel article I am writing? If so, please let me know how you would like the photo credits to read? I need to submit my article by Nov. 29. So please let me know before then.
