UEFA–CONMEBOL memorandum of understanding: Referencia a posibilidad de inclusión de Conmebol a UEFA Nations League[edit]

Hola Fma12.

Saludos, Fmarinzalda (talk) 07:15, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use of File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (low res).png[edit]

Hi Fma12. Just wanted to let you know that File:Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (low res).png was previously removed (also see here) from Iran national football team by administrator Graeme Bartlett per this FFD discussion. If you feel an error was made, would like further clarification or feel the close should be reconsidered, you probably should discuss things with Graeme on his user talk page per WP:CLOSECHALLENGE. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:26, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Marchjuly: thanks for the information. I was aware of that rule but unfortunately different criteria apply on different cases. For instance, File:Brazilian Football Confederation logo.svg is used on both, the CBF and the child entity Brazil national team. Other cases (such as File:Paris Saint-Germain F.C..svg) are still more extreme so that logo is used on three articles. Because of that, I have to admit that I'm a bit confused about NFC#UUI rules and how differently they put into effect here. Fma12 (talk) 22:14, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not if there's really a simple to answer your question. WP:OTHERIMAGE may apply in that each non-free use is supposed to be assessed on its individual merits. Trying to compare the way similar files are being used sometimes can help clarify things, but other times perhaps not so much. There have been a number attempts made over the years to try and clarify this type of non-free use, but none of them appear to have been very successful; so, there's been no change made to that part of WP:NFC#UUI and how it's been (being) interpreted or applied. If you feel that some type of general change is needed, then you can of course start another discussion about this at WT:NFCC. Perhaps this time, something will be able to be resolved.
Having said that, if your main concern is the non-free use of this particular file, then starting a new FFD about it's non-free use might be more appropriate. I believe that's what was done in the case of the Brazilian logo. The initial discussion was that it should only be used in the main article about the confederation, but a subsequent discussion established a consensus for its use in the men's article. That might be an approach to try here as well, but you might want to run that by Graeme Bartlett as a courtesy first since you're basically going to be discussing a close he made. A consensus can change over time, but think it's better to seek a new consensus in case like this via discussion than via editing, particularly when there's a formally closed XfD type of discussion involved and you're sort of advocating that a "mistake" was made the first time.
I've got no idea about the PSG logo. You brought it up for discussion at FFD, but others apparently weren't sure why you were discussing it (i.e. you clearly didn't state what outcome you were trying to achieve). It looks like you tried to have a general policy discussion in an FFD about the non-free use of an individual file, which is something FFD isn't really intended for. Since Explicit is the administrator who closed that FFD, you might want to ask him about this and why the discussion was closed as a "keep". For reference, that "keep" close doesn't (at least in my opinion) say that the non-free use of that PSG file was policy compliant. It just states that nobody could figure out what you specifically were asking (e.g. "keep", "delete", "remove", "add"); so, they didn't know what action to take and defaulted to "procedural keep".
Finally, one thing about the Iran logo is that the main elements of the logo appear to be the Iranian flag, some text (both in English and Farsi) and a soccer ball. Considered individually, each of those elements is probably not eligible for copyright protection (at least under US copyright law); the combination of them, however, might be what makes the logo copyrightable. You might want to take a look at c:COM:Iran to see if there's anything in Iranian copyright law that might apply here. You might also want to consider asking about the logo at c:COM:VPC to see what some others might think. If it turns out that the logo isn't eligible for copyright protection for some reason, then its use would no longer be subject to WP:NFCC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:35, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sincerely, my experience on this project along the years has proved me that criteria to determine the use of non-free images are, at less, contradictory. Not only in football badges but comics covers as well. To be honest and for the reasons explained above, I don't have the will to be involved in further debates about the use of such images. Unless until things change and similar criteria be applied to all the images with no exceptions. Fma12 (talk) 23:47, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps c:COM:VPC#Iranian national football team badge will lead somewhere. If you can read Farsi and know what's written on the logo, then that might be helpful. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:51, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New Arizona Cardinals uniform graphic[edit]

Hello, Fma12, I was wondering if when you have time if you would please create a new graphic file for the Arizona Cardinals' new uniforms they unveiled on April 20, 2023? My source for this is per the AZCardinals.com website & NFL.com. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 05:28, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Charlesaaronthompson:, yes, I would gladly create the new Cardinals uniforms. Thanks for providing me the sources, they will be very useful for the job. Regards, Fma12 (talk) 21:39, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Fma12: Hey man, it's been nearly 3 months and there's still no new uniform graphic for the Arizona Cardinals. Are you planning to create one soon? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:55, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ghia Microsport[edit]

Hi, I saw you edited the Ford Indigo article not too long ago and I'm at my wits end about Ghia Microsport notability, which was at the same auction, interested in taking a look at it and improving it? Thanks! Chadnibal (talk) 21:34, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Chadnibal:, I'll try to improve the Ghia article but unfortunately it will not be an easy task. When an article is nominated for deletion due to lack of notability, most of times it is removed. :( Fma12 (talk) 19:19, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kits?[edit]

Looks to me like you are the expert on team kits. I have not been able to figure out how to do the new SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's soccer kit. Home remains all white, but the road jersey is red & black diagonal stripes, high on right. Looks to be about 1 1/2-2" stripes. Would appreciate it if you can help.

Help me with these kit pattern[edit]

Hello Fma12, can you please help in creating these kit pattern of the India national football team.

For the infobox of the India senior as well as junior teams 1. Home 2. Away similar pattern.

For kit evolution history at the Wikimedia commons 1. Home similar patter to away jersey 2. Away

I've earlier requested on various talk page related to football project including the Template:Football kit/pattern list, but was in vain. I hope you be kind enough to help me with these pattern. Thank you. Drat8sub (talk) 09:16, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Drat8sub: to be sincere, I'm pretty busy with some NFL patterns in these days, but I could use some existing patterns at Template:Football kit/pattern list to update the India NT uniforms on the infobox. For example, the orange arc and black arc templates could be useful for both, home and away kit bodies. I'll take the color samples from the sources you gave me to replicate a similar HEX color as well.
Let me know your opinion if you agree, thank you. Fma12 (talk) 22:21, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, for now the infobox is necessary. You update however best you can, update the men's team infobox, I will replicate in other national team info box. But after you finish with the NFL, which will undoubtedly take a lot of your time, please try to create the patterns, the present jersey is also not simple as you can see there are light tiger strips below chest and ofcourse the previous jersey that is needed for the kit evolution history has digitised tiger face pattern which seems more difficult. I know the pattern will be difficult to make but I have only hope with you mate, the people who helped me with kit pattern before have left wikipedia, I will really be thankful if you take the task to help me later on. Thank you for you response. Drat8sub (talk) 03:41, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Answer[edit]

The South American club championship of 1948 was held before 1955; only in 1955 FIFA determined that international club competitions should be seen as official only provided that they were organised by international confederations such as UEFA and CONMEBOL, while FIFA position until that moment was that the clubs themselves should organise their competitions (see www.uefa.com/newsfiles/240459.pdf ). Thus, labelling the South American tournament as "friendly" just because it was not organised by Conmebol is historicaly innacurate. The competition was played with the explicit purpose of determining the champion club of a given geographical area (South America), which is very different from the "spirit" of the kind of international competition we usually refer to as "friendly" (Teresa Herrera, etc). Yours Sincerely El cazador (talk) 04:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're referring to the template:Friendly association football tournaments in South America. Well, the word "friendly" may be confusing so "unofficial" could be a more accurate term. But there are some points that I'd prefer to discuss at Talk:South American Championship of Champions. P.e. the fact that Conmebol recongised the tournament as a predecessor to Copa Libertadores, does not mean this tournament is "official".
Moreover, Conmebol can´t give official status to a tournament not organised by them. In the same way, FIFA has no influence on regional (in this case South American) competitions. As Conmebol was founded in 1916 and the 1948 Campeonato de Campeones" was held decades after, we can´t give official status to a competition organised by club Colo-Colo. Johnny Lightning: Army Ambulance Photo[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for adding the image of the Johnny Lightning Dodge Army Ambulance. This page definitely needs more photos!

I noticed that you put the ambulance in the RC2 section. Actually, it was produced in 2001, making it a Playing Mantis release.

Here's a link to a great database of all releases of that casting. (I believe that yours is from Lightning Brigade Release 4.) https://jlcollector.net/069.html

This is my first time to leave a comment on a Talk page so please excuse me if I didn't do it right. And thank you for helping improve the Johnny Lightning page!

Best regards,

@ToyFacts: thank you for your message!! Undoubtely the JL article needs more photos, in fact I've trying to get more images from sites such as Flickr or others that have free contents, but they are hard to find anyway.
Thanks again and best wishes,

Hi Fma12! Can you help me with these articles: Argentina–Brazil football rivalry and Brazil national football team records and statistics? A brazilian user [1] is disrespecting 2 FIFA official sources that say they are tied in 42 victories each.[2] [3] He is only considering brazilian not neutral sources that put Brazil ahead... [4] [5] There can't be any source above FIFA´s sources. But he insists and insists in those that put Brazil ahead... Can you help me with this? Thanks! --Raúl Quintana Tarufetti (talk) 23:32, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fma12! Thanks for your answer! I have posted in the discussion page Argentina–Brazil football rivalry, where I clarify this issue of the count of matches. If you want to participate it would be great. [6]

Women's uniforms[edit]

Hi, yes it was reverted on Argentina women's U17, 'cause at the time as you well know they were playing a tournament in which they were still using the old kits, so I'm happy you waited until it was over to update them. I don't see why I would revert them? Thanks Bocafan76 (talk) 22:56, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Updates for the Argentina national football team crest without stars[edit]

Hola, as you can see, it is shown that the Argentina women's national under-20 football team have worn the crest without the stars. Therefore, it is more likely for the other teams (except men's senior team) will wear that crest, see this YouTube Shorts link. Guyrichtheman (talk) 01:26, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
