India/Indian disambiguation

Hi. It seems you were trying use disambiguation link for India/Indian. Though it was better for some pages, where it did not mean India, but in some articles, the changes were not that useful. For example, in Johnny Lever page, you changed Indian to Indian (film), which is actually a particular film (and not Indian Cinema as you might have thought it could be). You can alternatively, delink it like '[[Indian]]' to 'Indian'. As per the Manual of Style changes for August has done away with wikifying demonyms (search for demonym). Hey GDibyendu, thanks for your message and thanks for the link to the August MoS changes. I have to admit I don't follow the frequent MoS changes as carefully as I should. However, in your example above on the Johnny Lever page my DAB link edit (diff [1]) was in his list of films. I changed the generic and unwanted (per MoS) link to the DAB page Indian to the correct and specific link to the page for the film Indian (film) where Johnny played a small role. Linking to Indian cinema would have been little improvement at all. So I actually changed an unhelpful link to a demonyn into a link to the correct film :) A useful edit, yeah? Thanks a lot for your comment, it's always encouraging to get feedback on the toiling at wikipedia. However, I have to be humble and give the credit for the material to Kiernan. I must add though, that working with the Cambodia/KR-articles was highly rewarding, when digging deeper in the history of the various conflicts one uncovers so many details that the mainstream western discourse on Cambodian history (i.e. that KR was a bunch of lunatics/demons who emerged from nowhere and starting killing glass-eye-bearers randomly and then disappeared into nowhere) ignore. Cambodia is certainly one of the cases where SB hits the hardest, and I really appreciate your efforts in various articles. --Soman (talk) 16:23, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Apart from that below here is the address and phone number of an alliance that is now been changed into a political party called the Sangkum Jatiniyum Front Party. The reason I am giving you this is because in on one of the Wikipedia articles on a political party thats part of this alliance called the Khmer Front Party one of the sources used for it explains who the other political parties as well as the KFP were that joined the SFJP. There are two of them that I wondered if you could get their platforms and logos for me by using the Sangkum Jatiniyum front Party's address and phone number to see if the leaders of those two parties would agree. Wow! OK, you've set the challenge, now I just have to rise to it. This will take me some time. I can swing by and photograph a couple of HQ's easily enough - I may be able to do a few next weekend, but collecting their party platforms and any gear means visiting during working hours - tricky as I'm generally very busy. I'll see what I can work out. The KPNLF is historical as far as I know and the SFJP was an interesting experiment, we'll see if it continues for the next election. I still have CPP stickers outside my gate - they hit every single house along my street in the early hours of the morning two weeks prior to the election - pasting directly on the outside walls of the houses and using a very tenacious glue. By contrast the SRP only posted on public rather than private spaces along the street. The NRP put up one lonely little poster on a telegraph pole across the road, the week before the election. It soon blew down. :)

Portal:Cambodia

Hi Paxse. It'd be nice to have it as a featured portal, but unfortunately I'm not much of an active wikipedian anymore. And Portal Cambodia, in particular, does have certain problems. When compared to other portal, it does not have a wide pool of articles, pictures, etc. to be selected for the monthly features. So, it's difficult to choose and I often had to pick the ones with less-than-satisfactory quality. But maybe there is still hope. Other than the contents, the portal is already in quite a good shape. I can't find my ban in the log any more, but yeah, basically, it was 'tom.com'. I thought this was suspicious, but the domain did indeed exist, so I dug a little deeper and discovered that in fact tom.com staff don't use that domain for emails, they use tomonline-inc.com. Naming conentions for country specific topics

The naming convention has a caveats section, that is what these topics falls under. I am not selectively quoting anything, of the two hundred or so articles that cover cuisines originating in specific countries, only a dozen or so use the topic of country. The reasons are clearly spelled out in the caveats section I mentioned.

Please make your arguments on the talk pages of the articles in question and participate in the discussions there as opposed to the requested move page. We gladly welcome you input in the appropriate place.

Ah thanks! Well I'm sure people do notice but honestly few people ever say anything! My article creation count is now somewhere between 35,000 and 40,000 I think it works out as something like 1/70th of all of wikipedia I think!!. There was no conflict. Three editors were simply editing the same article at the same time. The other editor and myself felt that there were WP:PEACOCK terms, which I've removed. What's the point of saving an article if it's going to be so poorly written? I've accepted that there's some notability there. However, we have to maintain a neutral POV. A friendly hello to you Paxse. I saw that on the list of political parties in Cambodia you had added a possible article called Nationalist Khmer Party. I think you may be talking about the one thats here on the N.E.C. website where under the list called "Contact Details of Competing Political Parties" there is a party among to others called Nationalist Khmer Party between one above it called Indra Buddra City Party and the one below it Norodom Chakrapong Proloeung Khmer Party. However on a list above this one further up called the "Number of Political Parties Registered for Parliamentary Election (2003)" the list of political parties there was the same as the one for the party's contact details however the difference was I think the name of the party between the Indra Buddra City Party and the other party below called Norodom Chakrapong Proloeung Khmer Party which was called Khmer Nationalist Party which has a small logo.[4]

The owner of that page told me s/he put the page up for the purpose of providing accurate information about the actual use of water tortures, seeing as water tortures have been discussed in such a matter-of-fact manner over the past year or so, without most or any of the discussers having had actual experience of such tortures (unlike the survivors of Tuol Sleng). Hi, this bank is in Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2009 January 8 (today) due to notability, bank was founded in September 2008, article was created yesterday by me. Might there be any Khmer sources about this bank to be added to the article in case it is restored, as I hope? Bank was founded 4 months ago, it is not really listed on Hoover's or Alacrastore, it can use mainstream Khmer sources for its External links to avoid deletion. I think it's safe to remove those notability tags. Articles about settlements and geographical features are commonly kept and I see no reason to not do the same for provinces and districts, just make sure you continue to actually make them verifiable. Actually (to my knowledge), as redirects don't really function with categories, the principal Wikipolicy is being followed. Tonle Sap redirects to Tonlé Sap and I can't see spending my time with it. I take it from the tone of the note that both versions of the name are commonplace, in-country; if one wants to change the article to the simpler version, please go ahead and do so, it's of no importance to me.....I used to work at Dynamic Eastern Finance in Krung Thep and I do miss the place, it was 1991 and I didn't get a chance to visit Cambodia at the time, it was an important focus of our research there. We did visit dozens of SET companies in the area of the city, there is nothing like wearing a business suit and riding on the back seat of a motorcycle for 45 minutes through the noonday traffic. Echoing your DYK I've been doing some searching and have found http://www.wdpa.org/MultiResult.aspx?Country=114 a list of protected areas of Cambodia. Given that I dont want to neglect Cambodia but am smashed with work on here especially creating articles like Agriculture in Bolivia, Coffee production in El Salvador, Guyana Sugar Corporation using LOC material and translating articles like Tunis in the last few days !!, I thought I'd create Template:National parks of Cambodia and get the articles up and running in a few days. For sinance with Phnom Kulen do you want to seperate the articles on the geo landmark or protected area? Excellent, if you can also add those commune/village tables I started off to the district articles and find any population figures this would be great. Can you copy my example on Battambang District and add a commune/village table like this to the districts? I thought they were called communes and villages rather than groups or sections? Cool, I'm suffering from a slow PC at the moment which makes editing annoying. I'm sure Calliopjen 1 informed me there are 2008 figures out for Cambodia now -you may want to ask her. I'm going to oust those nasty district and communes boxes I create and gadually replace them with proper settlement boxes. I'm sure they are! Any to "consolidate" Cambodian districts I think Iam going to create a Template:Districts of Cambodia. You see the provincial temmplates are intended eventually to list further subdivisions like communes -see the Battambang templates for instance. We need a nationlaised template for all of the Cambodian districts - I think I'll create the template shortly and administer it. This way we have all of the districts in Cambodia readily accessible from one article to the next and may also help in navigation and hopefully make it easier to keep track of things. No, come on, chin up, you're in second place in Group E. There are a lot of berthing facilities, lifting facilities, navigational aids, short wave radio protocol and equipment, tank farms, truck depots, I didn't see mention of a redo of the computer systems, all of it creates more paychecks which create restaurants, noodle stands, karaokes, car and scooter dealerships... and them men move there, get married and raise families maybe then a shopping mall, new bank branches, new factories, new schools, new towns .... there's a lot there at the port, lots of work going on, lots of companies involved. • Yes, that was a great heading you wrote there. I've spent a lot of time writing that article and digging up sources (I pretty much didn't do anything else constructive for the entire time). It also had the nasty side effect of giving me the munchies. If I am ever near a shop that sells his chocolate, I'll be buying it. The images alone make them look very tasty already... Districts

Just a note, I haven't really had the time to work at Districts of Cambodia and NIS, I said I would do so but I have been busy with Category:Port authorities, (I've added many articles), in regard to the eventual creation of a useful list of port authorities on the difficult route from the Mediterranean to East Asia; a soon-to-be-presentable table is at a work area at User:Mr Accountable#Ports, it should be attachable to article Piracy in the Strait of Malacca, WP:PORTS or WP:MARITIME SECURITY or somesuch, or to an East Asian interwiki, the issue is well-reported in the East Asian press. Asian categories of rivers and bodies of water are important to a positive maritime wikipedia, said categories are quite underaccomplished. I have created Categories Mekong River, Gulf of Thailand, Red River, Gulf of Tonkin, Ayeyerawady River and more; Category:Brahmaputra River is red and Category:Ganges has no cities, towns, villages, states of India, bridges, shipping companies, government irrigation schemes, national parks, or ...anything but hydrographic items in it. Autonomous ports

In re: Infobox, Operated by; at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port - is the article about the port (body of water + accompanying onland facilities + specially zoned land) or is it about the state corporation of the same name? I thought at first that it was about the port operating state corporation, with as much info added to the article about the port itself as was possible to add. The infobox seems ambigous to me...... I don't have the chops to write seriously yet about port installations, but here's an article that seems to have the right idea: Port of Hong Kong#Port facilities and services. I think what I'm trying to say is 'Should there be an article for "Sihanoukville Autonomous Port" (the company) and another article "Port of Sihanoukville" (the port)?' I think, Francophonically, port authorities are named "Port autonome du Dakar" or "Port autonome de Sihanoukville" whilst Anglophonically, ports are named "Port of Tampa" or "Port of Hong Kong". --Mr Accountable (talk) 11:17, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

I'll restate: Francophonically, and as used in French West Africa, ports and their port authorities seem to be the same entity; articles "Port autonome du Dakar" or "Port autonome d'Abidjan" are unwritten; if I had gone ahead and written them, I'd know more about it. In writing Anglophonic port authority articles over the past few days, the ports seemed to be named "Port of Lagos" and "Port of Banjul" and the port authorities seemed to be named "Nigerian Ports Authority" and "Gambia Ports Authority".

Then as I go along I will list all the communes of Cambodia in the new article. and then as we ge tthe district articles up to adequate status I will start building up all of the curreent provincial templates we have like Battambang and make a start on the communes, providing I can get hold of Calliopjen's population data. If you search here or here specifically (the only two licenses we can except) you'll find that any image that shows up within this setting is immediately viable to be uploaded to wikipedia. So if for instance you wanted to find an image of Sihanoukville just type in Sihanoukville or Sihanoukville port, and any image that shows up you can upload under the Creative Commons 2.0. Indeed. FUnny how he has that bald evil villain thing going on too. If you house is quiet and peaceful and the angelic kids are in bed, you probably don't want to be watching The Bald One rockin. This is one of his faster songs played to perfection. Now I;ve been playing guitar for 18 years and have a huge knowledge of guitarists from heavy metal to jazz fusion and even Latin classical guitar and in my view Satriani is probably one of most technically brilliant guitarists I've ever seen. Michael Angelo Batio too although he is too fast for my liking. For blues, Stevie Ray Vaughan (who is actually my favourite guitarist overall along with Jimi Hendrix. Yep, Vai and Gary Moore are amongst my favourites too but Satriani taught Vai!!. I like some of Malmsteen's more melodic neoclassical stuff but I can't stand the guy, complete asshole. Seen Baldy in the CIA (Cardiff Indoor Arena). Was just as awesome as I'd expected. G3 is great although I think they ruined Hendrix's Foxy Lady with doing a heavy version of it. Love Eric Johnson's Manhattan though. Me I'm just a disciple of classic rock! Boston (band) has to be one of my favourites as is Lynard Skynard and the The Byrds, Pink Floyd, The Who, Aerosmith, Tom Petty etc. I've even seen Huey Lewis and the News which was pretty cool.
