Helpful ideas[edit]

Hey Shadow. Your article sounds like an important thing to write. Wikipedia is probably not going to do much good though. It's an encyclopedia - it's not really great for current events. It focuses more on notable people, places and things rather than very specific issues like this new development. You might try asking at Wikinews. That's a similar project to this one which does focus on current events. Try clicking this link to have a look at Wikinews. The other thing you could do is contact one of your local papers. Lancaster seems to have few. The Intelligencer Journal, Lancaster New Era and Sunday News all take story ideas and tips. Publishing the story in your local paper would probably reach more of the audience you need than Wikipedia. I hope some of those ideas may be useful. Feel free to leave me a message here or on my page (click the talk link after my name) if you need any more help. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 18:19, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome :) I hope you manage to put a spoke in the developers wheel one way or another. I also hope you decide to hang around Wikipedia a bit - there's plenty of important things that need to be written here as well! Cheers, Paxse (talk) 16:09, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shadow![edit]

I noticed your project list - it looks very organised. New articles on Wikipedia often have a very short lifespan, they get deleted very quickly - sometimes within minutes, while you are still working on it! One thing you can do is create your article on a subpage of your user page. There it won't be deleted quickly and you can polish it until it's ready in peace. Here's an article I've been working on in a subpage User:Paxse/Sandbox. Creating your own subpages is easy, just click on User:Shadow212121/Sandbox (or any name after the /) and start writing! Btw I'd be happy to look at your new article when it's ready. If you need a second opinion or copyedit, just let me know. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 17:51, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Shadow - hope you had a great Christmas! The advantage of building your article in your user space is that nobody will delete it while you are working on it. When it's ready and most importantly referenced, you can then post it into article space - maybe at Conestoga Crossings. That way it should survive Wikipedia:New pages patrol which can be pretty vicious - remember the bad reaction you got when you suggested the article? Well, imagine if you had posted an incomplete draft - WHAM! deleted on sight. It sucks, but that's Wikipedia these days. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 14:47, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
