Why do you assume that I made my edit with the purpose to have it be "listened to"...when really what I am trying to do is my name^_^? User talk:Willicon[edit]

I came accross User talk:Willicon through Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Todd Roydon. The user had blanked that page as creator/sole contributor so the article should've been speedied as G7. Instead the blanking was reverted, the user indef'd and the article went to AfD. It seems the indef blocking was OTT. Would you care to please review it as maybe I am missing something and you could have been correct in your decision. Cheers! -- Alexf(talk) 11:41, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The last thing I'd consciously do around here is abuse my rights. Earthen dikes[edit]

Like the earthen levees (read: big piles of dirt) surrounding New Orleans, which are so primitive in comparison with the state-of-the-art metal dikes in the Netherlands, England, Germany, etc., you'll notice that, in the video on the Democracy Now piece that aired on Dec. 24, the TVA spokesman emphatically did not answer the question about what material the levees were made from. I think they're ashamed. Badagnani (talk) 06:46, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they'd like you to think of a stout, stalwart brick, stone, or cinder-block wall. But they're basically big piles of dirt. (They're cheaper--that is why we lost a major city down here a couple of years back--because we're unwilling to invest seriously in our infrastructure, the way the Europeans are.) Many articles reflect this fact. See [1]. Badagnani (talk) 06:53, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about putting a source in the lead. I think I just wanted to establish that it wasn't a brick or stone wall or whatever. Badagnani (talk) 07:33, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that's catchy enough. We should wait to see what the media starts calling it. In East Kentucky, things are usually named after the county, so Martin County coal sludge spill was logically what it would be called. For this one, it seems that "Tennessee" should be in the name. Regarding the John the Baptist Article, you told Carl and I to stop editing regarding the dating system. I complied to the order, but Carl did not, and edited the article agaisnt your word. 4. Active Admins

  • You

I am having trouble choosing between you two. Both of you:

  • are familiar to me
  • knows me
  • are friendly
  • are always active
  • are WONDERFUL!

Bibliomaniac:

  • Is a bureaucrat

  • Responds to my questions more often

I really wish to be adopted by both of to at the same time, like I need a Dad and a Mum.

Regarding Radwan Dąbrowski-Żądło Family and a second nomination for deletion by Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, something fishy is going on:
From article's author -- Exxess: -- Quoting Poitrus -- "The family doesn't seem notable. Don't be fooled by seeming plentiful refs: they are not about the family." Equivocal statement followed by an out-and-out lie. The family is noted in several of the widely-published references. There is no reasoning of principles; no argument is required to prove fundamental rules, and Piotrus/Prokonsul is making an argument against WP:RS and {{Cite book}}. I'm not sure how to handle out-and-out fabrication, deftly hidden behind what appears to be an equitable statement on the surface. Given the boldness of the equivocation, fabrication, and insinuations from Piotrus/Prokonsul (See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Piotrus and Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Piotrus 2 to discover Piotrus' tactics.), going straight to arbitration might be all that's possible. There's nothing reasonable to deal with. If the article survives this second deletion nomination (the first failed), Poitrus will again nominate the article for deletion (multiple jeopardy) after bidding his time until he gets what he wants (fishing for a deletion), the reading public be damned. Nor is it beyond Piotrus to resort to sockpuppeting and meatpuppet dogpiling, according to the Arbitration Requests against him. Piotrus/Prokonsul is pressing a suit against this particular article for a second time for the same cause of action (non-notability, although the family is proven to be notable in the reference works), when a judgment on this same matter was rendered previously in his first deletion attempt -- "Four Keep Votes" to "One Delete Vote". This article should not be sued for a deletion a second time for the same cause of action, when judgment has already been rendered. Piotrus is abusing his power of administration, and has been bidding his time to fish for a deletion of this article for personal reasons of his own. The existing arbitration cases against Piotrus demonstrate he's perfectly capable of resorting to sneaky and underhanded tactics. It's on the record Piotrus, a.k.a. Prokonsul, has been recently urged, cautioned, and admonished.

On Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus and his second deletion nomination of Radwan Dąbrowski-Żądło Family:

My apologies for what appears to be bad form regarding Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, but nothing is invented and perfected at the same time, and it's taken time to watch the development of his second deletion request to get a grasp of Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus's tactics, given I was assuming good faith from him and giving Piotrus the benefit of the doubt, until another editor made me aware of the Arbitration Cases against Piotrus. Upon reading this, it became abundantly clear the lengths Piotrus would go to and the tactics he would resort to.

For the record, I feel his second nomination of the article concerning the Radwan Dąbrowski-Żądło Family (I am the author) is without merit, and is motivated by something other than a concern with Piotrus' assertions the family is not notable, which is patently false.

I feel there is justification for placing an estoppel, so to speak, against Piotrus nominating this particular article for deletion, especially when his deletion nomination is based upon fraudulent premises (non-notability), and a lame attempt to argue against WP:RS and {{Cite book}}.

This is my real concern, given I now understand who I'm dealing with (Piotrus). I'm concerned an administrator, nonetheless, is making a fraudulent and insidious argument against WP:RS and {{Cite book}}.

The family is notable. The reference works in question are verifiable and widely-published. -- Exxess (talk) 17:51, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MoP, I'm back from the holidays and ready to get started with my first wiki page.

I'd like to create a pretty simple company page (non sales/marketing - just basic information) on my company, Pragma Systems, and make it similar to that when you read about 'Attachmate' at Wiki.

Pragma Systems: Your Telnet and SSH Solutions Provider

The corporation of today is faced with constant challenges in providing secure and reliable access, control, and management capabilities across its network and computing infrastructure. With these challenges come seemingly endless requests for more - more information, more access, and more productivity. Unfortunately, there also seem to be more solution providers that offer 'one stop shopping' as it relates to networking, infrastructure, and security solutions.

That is where Pragma Systems comes in. Pragma Systems is not your 'one stop shop' for any and all of your networking and security needs. What we are is focused. Focused on providing the most secure, fast, scalable, and reliable solutions for your telnet and ssh connectivity needs.

With more than 16 years solely focused in the telnet and ssh space, Pragma Systems has achieved a level of technical knowledge, domain expertise, and industry experience to lead the market in the effectiveness and extensibility of its software solutions.

Pragma Systems is a privately held corporation with headquarters located in Austin, Texas. The organization was founded in 1990 by David Kulwin and Quamrul Mina, with the intent and focus to design, develop and port networking software for Fortune 500 companies. In a short period of time, companies like IBM, Tandem, and Tivoli became customers. The organization's focus on customer service and providing customized and extensible solutions has provided the foundation for the reputation of reliability associated with Pragma Systems.

In 1995, Pragma started developing industrial grade software for the emerging 32-bit Windows NT platform. From that point on, Pragma has delivered high quality products and services focused on Windows 2008/Vista/2003/XP/2000 operating systems. In the summer of 2006, the company continued its focus on technical innovation, and was the first in the secure connectivity segment to announce products built on the 64-bit platform.

Pragma's software is deployed in the majority of Fortune 500 companies in the USA and over 2100 companies worldwide in over 62 countries. Our clients include banks and financial institutions, U.S. and international universities, telecommunications companies, internet service providers, foreign government agencies, computer hardware manufacturers, real estate, software companies, aerospace, hotels, supermarkets, retailers and many others.

Our customers include: Target, McKesson, Food Lion, Micron, Dell, Intel, IBM, NTT, Sony, Coca-Cola, Symbol, Daimler Benz, Boeing, HP, Siemens, Motorola, Bank of America, Bank BNP-Paribas, Barclays Bank, IMF, Unilever, Woolworth Australia, Sogei Italy, SchlumbergerSema and Reynolds Aluminum.

Pragma's products have won top awards in the industry such as PC Week Analyst's Choice and NSTL's best in class rating. Pragma has also been recognized by Microsoft as a top 75 fastest growing Windows Independent Software Vendor. Our technology partnerships continue our reputation for 'best in class', ranging from Computer Associates to Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel and Motorola.

Thank you for your message reminding one not to revert. That's a very good rule which we all should follow. We should all refrain from unilaterally deleting sources from articles, then trying to force those deletions through with repeated edits (reverts?). Badagnani (talk) 06:07, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your clarification. We are a collaborative project so it's best if we all understand what all of our intentions are in improving articles. The data of our articles really is of paramount importance, so our users don't find articles with sources supporting various facts and figures presented in an article's text removed for reasons unknown to even the editor who removed them. Civet (band)[edit]

Hey man, I see it has you as deleting the page for the band Civet? Sorry, I'm new at all this just curious why, was whatever was written poorly done? Or am I reading this wrong altogether? Just wondering, not some crazy rabid fan or anything.

Charley Casserly[edit]

Hi:

You sent me a warning about posting on Charley Casserly's biography. I don't understand why you sent the warning. What exactly did I do wrong? My comments were supported by footnotes that you could access and were all true, so they cannot be defamatory. Can you please explain? I would also like to mention that several other administrators agreed with my edits and reverted them. I'd like to have an honest, open discussion with you about this topic.

Thanks and regards,

Carlos Escobar —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carlosescobar (talkcontribs) 01:20, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Update---

Hi: I reverted the changes to the Charley Casserly entry because they are all true and substantiated by the footnotes. Please read through them when you have time. Please contact me if you wish to discuss.

Respectfully,

Everything's fine. I've tried contacting my WikiSibling, Narutolovehinata5, but, alas, to no avail. I have become extremely active at WP:RFPP and in vandal-fighting. Thanks for your note. I was trying to contract Jonathan321, and when I clicked to talk, I got sent here. Perhaps there's a broken link somewhere?

At it again[edit]

As you can see, TreadngWater is up to his/her antics again in the Gen-X page with a constant effort to point the lead to 1965 despite every attempt to make the article neutral, then pretending they are trying to reach a compromise. This person is causing a lot of frustration and reverts. Ledboots (talk) 16:05, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Forum Question[edit]

If Wikipedia is supposed to be an open forum, yet the knee-jerk reaction to an alternative viewpoint is to remove it...isn't the discontinuity obvious? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ExpandYourMind (talkcontribs) 06:02, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia isn't a forum, it's an encyclopedia. Dayewalker (talk) 06:05, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I mispoke when I called it an open forum. But, what I was stating was NOT a fringe theory, nor was it something that would need to be sourced because it was a logical deduction from previously sourced information that the existing wikipedia article already had as accepted. To clarify, I made my logical deduction by considering the current description of potential authorship within the context that the author had himself laid down, and finding it to be a flawed conclusion. He (or his source) made the conclusion that because of stylistic and grammatical differences in the text of the early greek manuscripts we have of the books of John and Revelation that the authors MUST have been different people...thus automatically precluding the possibility that it could have been the same author writing in two different states of mind. When you view the pieces in question, both extremely emotional religious works, it would seem obvious that the author(s), whoever they may be, truly believed in the veracity of their own work. To imagine that they were merely writing these texts as metaphor or commentary, in a dispassionate, clinical and academic fashion is ludicrous given the subject matter. Unfortunately, such is the subjectivity of history...those who discover the artifacts of history, historians or archaeologists or whomever, are the ones who offer the discoveries up to the rest of us, and though they may try to be as objective as possible they will still taint there observations somehow...it is kind of like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. You can't make an observation without affecting whatever it is you are observing. Anyways, my point was that the conclusion which the author so cavalierly drew as obvious, is not necessarily so, because his point of view was limited by his assumptions...just as your point of view was limited by yours about my "opinion" ^_^ —Preceding unsigned comment added by ExpandYourMind (talkcontribs) 23:28, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Conflict[edit]

I was hoping to start on a fun and positive note, (actually I want to learn how to edit properly first) but the advice I need most at the moment is how handle the edit conflicts brewing on my current project: South Korea. The page was protected, but now that it isn't, the Korean IP have started flooding in. Recently I left this note on a user's page:

Thank you for your interest in the South Korea page. Until recently the page was under protection due to rampant vandalism and edit-warring. Due to these problems and others the talk page for such a controversial article is especially important. Improvements to the article are welcome, but please feel free to post any proposals you have for improving the article on the Talk Page first. Concerning the templates placed, I put them there because these section are either completely unsourced, or have only one source. In this way, it is more appropriate to tag a section than simply add citation needed to every sentence in the section, (although others have done that.) If you check the "proposals" section you can find what I plan to improve, and my reasoning for the changes.

I'm assuming good faith, and trying to be polite, but I fear that this isn't going to work. Ideas? RlndGunslinger (talk) 23:52, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Although it's only a few hours later, there are twelve new edits, and four reverts. Making matters worse, no one's using the talk page yet, and double reverts are already popping up. In fact, my informal tally counts: 43 edits, 9 reverts, and three double reverts. All this in only the first 48 hours since the page became unprotected.
I'm new here, and this is the first time I've seen an edit war up close. I really am going to try hard to gather some consensus, but so far for every hour adds more contentious edits and reverts. (For the record, I've neither edited--nor reverted--anything in the article since I saw there was a conflict on my part. There's going to come a point of no return, however, when there are "too many" reverts or massive changes. After all, protection might be worse medicine than the disease.) Gotta be patient though. RlndGunslinger (talk) 07:38, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption?[edit]

Well, I support that. Those users may need help. I don't care if I have some siblings. Ahh... that's a way to get more kids without XXX - ing with Biblio... HaHa... By the way, I'm sitting for PMR this year, so I won't be that active anymore. Thus, you can care less about your son this year. Just imagine that your son is studying abroad. By the way, please tell me who my siblings are. Thanks! --Mark Chung (talk) 07:08, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

South Korea[edit]

I agree with you about the edit warring and seeing my block history, I will be stepping back for a while. I wont annoy you with claims that my edits are right, that stuff is for the talk page, however Lakshmix and wondergirls seem to be one and the same. It is understandable that two people might edit the same article, especially prominent articles such as South Korea - however they both edited http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King%27s_College_School which is an obscure school in the UK. I have no experience filing sock puppet reports, as an admin, could you take a look at it for me please? カンチョーSennen Goroshi ! (talk) 04:30, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response, I left a message on my talk page regarding giving benefit of the doubt to possible socks etc..then I took a look at the two accounts recent history -

Wondergirls

  5. 13:38, 26 December 2008 (hist) (diff) Seoul ‎ (you are Japanese and continuously vandalizing Korean-related articles)

Lakshmix

  2. 18:00, 30 December 2008 (hist) (diff) Kazakhstan ‎

  10. 03:35, 26 December 2008 (hist) (diff) Developed country ‎ (→Exclusions)

Apart from the single edit on the 30th, they seem to share identical dates for their recent edit history.

But hey, you probably noticed that already.

カンチョーSennen Goroshi ! (talk) 14:33, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I sent you an E-mail. I reverted the South Korea article, and I was reverted by Ziggymaster, he created an account one minute after wondergirls made their last edit on Dec 26th 18:33, 26 December 2008 Ziggymaster (Talk | contribs) New user account ‎ that would explain the lack of edits from the 26th till the 14th by the both wondergirls and Lakshmix accounts. I would suggest that Ziggymaster, Lakshmix and Wondergirls are one and the same. I guess that one account is home and another is work/school - but obviously I have no IP addresses. Without those three accounts combining on the South Korea article, there would be no edit war. カンチョーSennen Goroshi ! (talk) 18:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, due to vandalism, edit-warring, and general mark-up issues, I've decided not to continue my work on the South Korea page. The article definitely needs someone's help, but at this time the page is apparently too controversial and too important to nationalists (Korean or otherwise) for me to continue trying in vain to fix it up. I sincerely hope that someday the page will return to neutrality and normalcy, and when it does, I'll be there to help. In the meantime, I'd like to learn more about Wiki-gnoming. :) RlndGunslinger (talk) 04:08, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3RR issue on Missing in action[edit]

Hello MoP. I saw your response to the slightly-malformed report of this issue at WP:AN3. The same reporter also notified me on my Talk page, in a more clear fashion, mentioning a previous ANI which he took the liberty of updating in the archived location. The guy doing the reverting still uses the term 'vandalism' consistently for whatever his opponents do, and his postings on Talk seem to fit the term 'diatribe' better than the phrase 'respectful search for consensus.' My inclination would be to issue a second edit-warring block, this time for multiple days. Since you've already responded at AN3, I'd like to know if this would be acceptable to you. Your editnotice seems to say that it's cool, but it would still be good to have your opinion. EdJohnston (talk) 04:45, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of soft redirect at Compulsory[edit]

I would like to protest the deletion of the soft redirect from Compulsory under CSD criteria A5. Soft redirects are explicitly not subject to Article CSD criteria, and are supposed to be subject instead to Redirect criteria. This is because some of the article CSD criteria, if applied to soft redirects, could easily be used to delete most if not all soft redirects. A3 and A5 are particular problems. So I would ask you to please reverse your deletion of this page. - TexasAndroid (talk) 16:36, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Compulsory used {{RedirecttoWiktionary}}, which is just a redirect to {{wi}}, which is the core soft redirect template for Wiktionary. That's exactly how soft redirects are done, as there is no direct system support for such a mechanism. So, I'm sorry, but that was indeed most definitely a soft redirect. If you have problems with the soft redirect template wording, then that should go to {{wi}}. The exact wording of that template has been evolving quite a bit over time. Anyway, it was most definitely a soft redirect, and thus was most definitely not subject to A5 deletion IMHO. - TexasAndroid (talk) 15:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My conclusion is that Wikipedia is incapable of controlling editors whose sole purpose is to insert bias into articles. In particular, honest editors are necessarily at a disadvantage, as administrator policy penalizes integrity. Spotfixer (talk) 12:57, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for allaying my fears regarding skipping over warning levels. I'm barely beginning to learn how to use Huggle and I'm terrified of doing the wrong thing. My goal here is always, always to do the right thing and to be absolutely civil, but I know that no one is perfect, so I worry about inadvertent mistakes. Also, I have to tell you... you have, hands down, the coolest user page and talk page I've ever seen. I've seen lots of cool ones but this one blows me away. Good work! :) -- edi(talk) 03:22, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE:RE: Blagojevich[edit]

Copied from my talk page, no response required

Hey folks, since there's two users in this talk I'll just thread this here. I promoted it to ITN on the reasoning that the removal of a state executive is, IMO, notable whether the subject himself is or not (though I'd figure it is inherent). Seemed obvious to me that this was more than Wikinews, which is why I skipped the discussion phase.

As to the portal, thanks for letting me know, I was not aware of the duplication being needed in the editing, I thought it was transcluded. Learn something new every day ;)

And lastly, I still think that it should be on the main page. While I can understand Spencer's logic in that it needs more information to make it encyclopedic and not just news, I personally don't think that anymore should or could be added to the article on the Blagojevich scandal at the time and it is a pretty descriptive article.

No matter it all, thanks for the input and the learning opportunity from all three. Keegantalk 06:12, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of request for deletion of editor Master of Puppets :)[edit]

Master of Puppets, the editor you are, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that you satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space. Your opinions on yourself are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at User:GlassCobra/Editor for deletion#Master of Puppets and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit during the discussion but should not remove the nomination (unless you wish not to participate); such removal will not end the deletion discussion (actually it will). Thank you, and have a good sense of humor :). —La Pianista (TC) 04:50, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: AIV reports and the such[edit]

Thanks for the message you dropped me. Yeah I thought there would be a problem with the fact that they might be shared IP addresses, but hey, the IP vandal template was there, so I thought I might add one for the first time, seeing as I'm now taking a less tolerant approach towards vandalism. I'll try and report registered users this time, and if the situation requires it, maybe a couple of IP's. (If they're not shared by a school/organization.) Was the IP I added shared to a school or organization? If it was I apologize -- I didn't realize at the time :D. Thanks anyway. --SamB135 TalkContribs 08:39, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It at first appeared that there may have been a change of heart on the part of the other editors, but nothing real came of it.

I request that you intervene, and roll back the article to August 25, 2008 Ukufwakfgr (talk) 06:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I request that there be no intervention at this time. Discussion is ongoing at the talk page, and at least one of Uku's concerns has already received consensus and been incorporated into the article.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:50, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can't support or denounce any revision, as that would be taking a side. I'm glad there's consensus being developed on the talk page, though. Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 04:11, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
After my edit was reverted, WegianWarrior rolled it back to that revision. Things seem to be picking up, so thanks a lot for your time and consideration, and for being practically the only admin not to choose sides. Ukufwakfgr (talk) 01:31, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Loretta Kelsey deletion[edit]

Hi there,

Wondering about the deletion of the Loretta Kelsey stub; the notability is that she's the last speaker of a language. There are multiple similar articles whose notability is based on that fact, wondering if there's a specific reason why this one was speedy'd? There are plenty of news articles about her. (If I recall correctly, I put the citations in the article.)

Thanks for your consideration,

Pragma Systems - revised[edit]

Master of Puppets - good luck with your calling!

I've updated the Pragma offering and wanted to run this by you - and I'm still not sure I understand the 'how to's associated with citations and 'how to' get this live and posted.

I look forward to your comments and thoughts.

Many thanks in advance,

Andrew Tull

Hello again![edit]

Hi, MoP! I've got a problem. About a year ago, I emptied my monobook, but I still get popups. Can you help me? I wish you all the best in becoming a journalist (I have aspirations to become one too). Basketball110 My story/Tell me yours 16:53, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
