Sushant Singh - Talk page protection

Hey. Noticed you'd protected the talk page for a month before, which expired in the end of August. Something has happened - probably a news story - to cause this conspiracy edit request spam again. See talk. Just a waste of editors' time. Might be worth semi-protecting talk again for another few weeks. Cheers, ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 13:46, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

@ProcrastinatingReader: Hey there, since I've been involved in offering opinions at that article, I've recused myself from adminning here for a bit. Might I recommend WP:RFPP? You might also consider checking with NedFausa as they were concerned with page protections preventing honest-to-goodness article improvement suggestions. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk)

@Cyphoidbomb: Multiple vandalised television appearances repeatedly added by IP users despite revertion in their article and the respective television series articles of Roop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop, Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara, Bahu Begum and Tujhse Hai Raabta. Chauhan has never appeared in these series while his appearances are cited here: [1], [2]. It all started from these edits [3] and [4] in their article since July and August 2020 and also now in the latest edit again after my revertion. The vandalised appearances were also being restored by one of your revisions. Please see to it. With regards. Noobie anonymous (talk) 09:53, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb:An IP user is being vandalising with cast and television appearances again in many actors and series articles and despite my revertion few of their are [5]. The IP varies because of which I could not understand the editing pattern as it is extended to multiple articles, I found and reverted few articles today among those but still they vandalise back. Please take necessary steps. With regards Noobie anonymous (talk) 17:40, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

@Noobie anonymous: Can you provide me with Diffs that show their edits are clearly vandalism? Some are problematic for other reasons, like this, but where's the vandalism, and how can I double-check it? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:45, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: The vandalism is happening in the cast additions and the actors television appearances. I first found a IP vandalising in Vikram Singh Chauhan with vandalised appearances in his article and the television series articles and reported you. Tracing the other articles edited from it, I found that they add casts who never appeared in the series happening since few months. For instance, here [6] the IP user added a television series named Naira Goenka Singhania in Chauhan's article while it is a character from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and not a series. They also mentioned Vikas Bhalla, Smita Bansal, Anjali Abrol and few other appearances who were not a part of the series. A similar pattern is seen in the related articles by the changing IPs, even when reverted, it is added back again and again. I find even some more other articles edited by the vandalising IPs through the history of those each articles where this vandalism is carried over to many articles. This IP [7] adds Eijas Khan in Bas Thode Se Anjane in both the series and the actor's article and many more cast like this. If you notice this recent contributions by a IP [8] it is just adding vandalised cast members in the television series articles and the cast members articles. The vandalising articles keeps on increasing by this pattern. These are the other few vandalism contributions i give here [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], [14]. As i trace the IPs contribution like this from those article's history adding those before and revertions i find many more and more vandalisms happened. This is a very problematic and confusing one. I hope you understand what I try to say. So please see to it Noobie anonymous (talk) 15:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Why is there no response from you often like this? Do you feel anything wrong or no proper information I provided above from my side or not feeling the report a worthy one or any other reason? My main focus is expanding Indian television articles and am not that experienced in expressing other aspects. If you express what you feel wrong from my side, I could rectify and try to express it more clearly if not proper, rather than not replying. Thank you Noobie anonymous (talk) 03:39, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

The addition of "Behen Jee" (which technically means "respected sister" but is used sarcastically as an insult) and various other BLP violations (accusing her of fraud smongst other things) have been going on for a long time, and they're persistent. You'll note that the Film Festival article hit yesterday had recently come off a 1-year semi-protection. We did try an SPI previously but the accounts were coming from a wide range of IPs. My usual MO here is to revert the edit, revdelete it, and block the editor with TP turned off; and then watchlist the article (or protect it, if it's been hit recently).

Useful articles to watch

Thanks, Black Kite (talk) 09:40, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

@Black Kite: Thanks for the exceptional explanation! Adding the other articles to my watchlist. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:49, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Pujita Ponnada

Sir, A user who claims to be Pujita Ponnadas friend made this edit, which says "Added list of upcoming movies and she is my friend wanted to display her shortfilms. Don't wanted to display her date of birth. Don't wanted to display few films in filmography." Huh? We are clueless how to handle this! --Ab207 (talk) 19:24, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

I happened across this elsewhere, but am always happy to stop by to say hi to Cyphoidbomb as we go waaaaay back. On the present subject, Pujita Ponnada has seen a ton of what appears t be COI edits recently, so I've protected it again, this time for 1 month. I also partially blocked Kandesrikanth from editing the article directly due to their conflict and have directed them to the talk page to request and discuss changes. The birth date is a trickier matter. Per our very strict policy, the birth date must be widely-published in reliable sources. That's not the case here. The one source that you restored here does not support an actual date, only her age at a given time. Normally you could use Template:Birth based on age as of date to get an estimated birth year, but the policy states only the birth year should be included when the subject complains. The date really needs to stay out unless a specific year is supported by multiple reliable sources in order to be BLP compliant.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:40, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for chipping in! I'll see if the DOB is supported by any other sources. -- Ab207 (talk) 19:53, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Sudeep Sahir edit

Hi Cyphoidbomb, you recently made an edit on the Sudeep Sahir page, changing his given name to his surname in one of the paragraphs that refers to him. The reason I chose to use his given name was because in the same sentence, his wife's full name is mentioned, so the surname is repeated twice in close succession, which I wished to avoid for legibility purposes. WP:SURNAME merely says that the use of a person's surname is preferred, not that their given name should never be used, so I figure an exception can be made in this case. werewolf (talk) 00:34, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

@Revirvlkodlaku: Hi there, I'm not aware of repetition being a sufficient reason to ignore community consensus. We tend to use surnames, because it sounds more formal and professional than using people's first names. I also don't think that the repetition materially affects readability, and can conceive of other instances when it would be important to repeat surnames for clarity, vs. using forenames. That said, you are always free to seek a third opinion. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:06, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi Cyphoidbomb, I'm going to leave it because I don't think it's worth seeking a third opinion over, but I do want to point out that I think your justification for the edit is weak. Sure, there is a community consensus about using surnames rather than given names, I get that, but this doesn't stipulate that an exception can never be made in individual cases. In this case, since there is repetition within such a short sentence, I'm of the opinion that it should be avoided since it isn't critical and the exception can be made without affecting the intelligibility of the rest of the article in any way. werewolf (talk) 20:25, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
@Revirvlkodlaku: My argument is no weaker than yours. It's a difference of opinion with a WP:SURNAME chaser. If we had been discussing ambiguous phrasing where multiple Sahirs were mentioned and it was difficult to suss out which brother moved to Mumbai, then I'd likely agree with you. I don't think there's anything baffling or linguistically problematic about saying Sahir twice in the same sentence. That said, since this seems to really be bothering you, I won't object if you change it back. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:57, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Re: Edit preview not working correctly from Village Pump

Hey Cyphoidbomb I just saw the ping and went back to read the discussion in the archives. The thing is with all the Bigg Boss franchise season articles none of them are following basic guidelines set forth by WP:BIGBRO. They were out of compliance with the project's guidelines prior to 2019 and are now even more out of compliance since the project is being refactored to adhere with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. For example Bigg Boss (Hindi season 13)#Housemates status is out of compliance. Big Brother (British series 18)#Housemates is a good example of a season with a complicated format. For example in the Status column there should be no colors used for Housemates evicted by a House vote. Regardless of how a contestant is evicted they should all be listed as "Evicted". All of the Nomination tables in Big Boss season articles are also not in compliance and are using colors in ways not outlined by the project and Wikipedia's own accessibility guidelines. To be honest with you all of those articles need to be rewritten. I have tried to fix some issues in the past but due to the various sock-puppets and other users I kept getting reverted. Just to realign the names of those articles to conform with WP:NCTV was a battle. So I refocused my efforts more on the 4 main English adaptions (American, Canadian, Australian & British formats.) Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 10:49, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

@Alucard 16: Thanks for the explanation. You're probably wise to avoid a row with the Indian Bigg Boss contingent. If I remember from the past: little competence, lots of fist-shaking, little understanding of consistency across articles, and strong drive for personal preference. Caste mongering Troll at Neil Nitin Mukesh article is vandalising my article

This one needs a range block it seems. Special:Contributions/2401:4900:44DB:D9D5:1CCE:9A3C:5C88:7F11 and anotehr IP got blocked. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:03, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

@Fylindfotberserk: Looks like Deepfriedokra handled it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:38, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Yeah. That guy is being a nuisance. Apart from the socks I mentioned in the Neil Nitin Mukesh article, this guy can be the sockfarm Nikhil Srivastava. I've seen his hatred towards Brahmins in Kayastha related talkpages. Claims that a version of the Kayastha article will start a caste war in Bengal or something, and vents on the Brahmin group of that region whenever he sees anything not as per his preferences. Now he is venting on Bengali Brahmins using my 10 year edits in that article (mostly reversions and restorations) as an excuse. It gets really funny when people start calling you different castes, ethnicities and nationalities based on our edits. Few days back someone called me a Tarkhan (Punjab) because that person has problems with that caste. Caste based stupidity of South Asians has no bounds. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:57, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Well, that's probably why Amitabh Bachchan and his father rejected the caste system. There seems to be a heavy cultural need to label everything, and of course that results in lots of fighting about who's worthy to be in that label, why one label is lesser than another label, people feeling more pride for their label so they want to move it to the front of the line, etc... Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:02, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
But that didn't stop these caste trolls from adding "Kayastha" in Bachchan's and his fathers articles. See reversion by me. Apparently these trolls think they can decide for Mr. Bachchan. Same is the case for Nitin Mukesh. He mentions his parent's caste in a certain order, but no, these trolls know more than Mr Mukesh himself. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:17, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Padukone

Suspicious edit-warring at Deepika Padukone by repeated inclusion of a "controversy" section for two sentences, despite one being prohibited by policy at Wikipedia:Controversy sections by two editors, one with a little over 100 edits and one with less than 20. Could you take a look? Krimuk2.0 (talk) 19:54, 22 September 2020 (UTC) Plus the sentence they are trying to add is barely in English. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 19:57, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict) @Krimuk2.0: Wikipedia:Controversy sections is an essay, not a policy. Some editors are OK with it, others are not. Personally, I prefer to avoid labeling things as "controversy" because it feels clickbait-y, and tends to place undue emphasis on negative events. I also see that another admin dealt with it. Note also that you reverted four times, with no clear justification under the edit-warring exemptions. There is a possibility you could be sanctioned for that. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:38, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
I followed WP:3RRNO that says reverting "contentious material that is libelous, biased, unsourced, or poorly sourced according to our biographies of living persons (BLP) policy" are exempt from edit-warring policy. This sentence, "Padukone has been involved with JNU protests on January 7, 2020 and has been criticized. JNU ex-student Kanhaiya Kumar, who was previously arrested on sedition charges previously was also present at this gathering. The public opinion on this has been divided with some even calling for her recent film Chhapaak and she has not commented on it." is not only poorly written but also "libelous" and "biased", as is adding a "controversy" section to a BLP. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 20:42, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
@Krimuk2.0: Huh? What's the libelous part? That she was "criticised"? And what's the biased part? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:51, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
Wow. Which part of the source provided says that she was purely "criticised"? It says that she was "silent" and that she recieved both "support" and "created a stir". That's what it says. Coming to conclusions, as those two users did, that the source says that she was "criticised" is the libelous and biased part. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 20:55, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
The version of the article, which I reverted back to, says, "In 2020, Padukone attended a protest for students who were brutalised during the 2020 JNU Attack due to their protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.[185] Members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party criticised her decision and asked people to boycott her film Chhapaak.[186] Many others praised her for standing up against a crackdown on dissent, as mainstream Bollywood actors avoid making political statements fearing backlash and consequences on their film.[187]" That's well-sourced, and sources both the criticism (yes, the actual criticism) and the support, with context. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 21:01, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
@Krimuk2.0: Yeah, I have no idea what you think libel is. Libel, broadly speaking, is when you publish false accusations or deliberately inaccurate information about a person's actions or character, and that information has great potential to harm their reputation. That's usually stuff like "He's a murderer", "She's a con artist who scams people for a living", "The president of this small local business is a rapist". But "she was criticised"? Not even close. Anyway, best of luck to you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:35, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
So according to you, I'm removing "she was criticised" by adding another sentence about "she was criticised".... and that's what? If you fail to understand the context that I tried to explain, then I'm sorry can't help you. Plus, I'm sure it makes you feel better to portray me as the dumb, illiterate Indian, but libel includes "criticism". The article you linked, libel or, defamation, vilification, slander... that's not just about calling someone a murder or a rapist; it's about statements that are misleading, which was the case here. (Saying someone was purely criticised by removing information of both the support and criticism -- that's misleading -- and thus, by extension, libelous). Cheers! :) Krimuk2.0 (talk) 21:43, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
I haven't portrayed you as anything. You've made justifications that make no sense to me, and I'm trying to clarify what libel is based on my rudimentary understanding of the subject. This is because I strongly doubt anybody would consider the changes you made as defensible under 3RR. Want another opinion? Ask other admins. If one of them comes by to sanction you for violating 3RR, you can argue with them about it instead of me. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:52, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Respected Cyphoidbomb, I request you to remove the WP:BLUELOCK from the article of Huma Qureshi as there is no such vandalism on the page and such a lock is for high-risk topic and changed the lock to Silverlock so that the new users don't find difficult to edit it. Dealing with copied statements

Hello. Would you guide me on how to deal with copy-pasted statements like these (latter one). Should I try to paraphrase it or remove it? Should the user be notified on his talk page? or if copying one or two-line factual statements is acceptable? Thanks.--Ab207 (talk) 19:21, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Ab207, with a new editor, I like to at least leave them the copyright warning for new users message (via Twinkle or RedWarn) as that's got some good info about why copypaste is wrong. If a rephrase it simple, I'll do a quick rewrite. If it's more complicated, I'll revert with an edit summary, and either add a message to the warning about what I did and why, and invite them to re-add by rephrasing, or leave that as a message on their talk page. Ravensfire (talk) 21:00, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

I've got a suspicion that this is GOOD morning returning after their last sock Yevaraina was blocked. Way too familiar with Wiki markup from the start, editor interaction is high, but all three edited a lot and quickly. Some of RISM's early edits [20], [21] involved adding images with Jyothika, who GOOD morning relentlessly promoted. It's pretty weak at this point, if I get more time I want to dig deeper, especially after RISM's recent edit-fest on Jyothika. Ravensfire (talk) 15:33, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes. Thanks. --TamilMirchi (talk) 17:15, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
@TamilMirchi: Go to Archive.org and paste the URL into the Wayback Machine search box. Result here. However, it doesn't appear that anything resolves. In those cases, I might try googling the article's title, as sometimes news sites just change their URL formatting. But that's only useful when you have a unique article title like "Jane Doe weds John Roe on the Riviera". Alternatively you can google "Eyarkai site:sify.com" to see if that results in anything, in this case the Google cache is available. Or you can just do what Kailash did. This user is messing with filmography tables such as [25] and [26]. This user also removes cast members from films: [27]. Could you revert all of these edits? TamilMirchi (talk) 04:20, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

@TamilMirchi: The first link you provided isn't a diff, so it's unclear what complaint you have with their edit. As for the second link, yeah, I agree that "heroine" is an absurd column for a filmography, but this is something you should educate the editor about. As for the third link, while I can see your concern about unexplained removal of content, is it possible that the editor is acting in good faith to pare down the list to the most significant cast? Wikipedia doesn't, after all, endeavour to replace IMDb, and WP:FILMCAST says "Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, so it is encouraged to name the most relevant actors and roles with the most appropriate rule of thumb for the given film: billing, speaking roles, named roles, cast lists in reliable sources, blue links (in some cases), etc. So I could see a valid argument to chopping out unlinked names who also don't have roles listed.
I do, however, notice that they mark all their edits as minor, which I already warned them about, I do notice English grammar issues and ignorance of how to format the lede here, and I notice them deleting roles here, but nothing so far seems expressly like vandalism. Got any other examples? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:33, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Also, reordering cast to place a Kannada actress first [28]. Mainly just filmography issues such as [29].TamilMirchi (talk) 15:47, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
@TamilMirchi: I haven't seen that movie. Does that Kannada actress have a prominent role? If so, where should she be placed? The bottom line here is that I think they are likely editing in good-faith, but they are operating solo and could use guidance. As editors, when we encounter these people, we should educate them. I left a lengthy note on their talk page, but you could have done the same thing. If the issues persist after the education occurs, then it is suitable to bring it to an administrator. I shouldn't be the first line of defense here. For what it's worth, since they do seem to have ignored my prior note and are both silent and going solo, it is likely they will require sanctions at some point. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:59, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: In Sadhu Mirandal, she is credited towards the end. Her role must be minor.TamilMirchi (talk) 16:45, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Tridha Choudhury

This article has been nominated for deletion. The user nominating the article for deletion has only four edits total. The nominator claims that "Most of the sources cited on this article are either irrelevant or do not exist. This vanity article which seems to have been created by the subject itself should be deleted at the soonest". The sources stated in the article do exist and the nominator dislikes Tridha Choudary (a page can not be deleted simply because someone dislikes the person). There is no evidence that the subject herself created the page. --TamilMirchi (talk) 19:57, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

@TamilMirchi: It may very well be a bad-faith deletion nomination, but two of the references don't resolve, (and would be poor anyway) which is probably what they meant. This deletion also seems to be related to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Souman Bose (2nd nomination), where an editor complained about that specific article being a hoax. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:28, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Deletion

I want to delete some of the articles that I created because they are not notable. Despite them being not notable, a user named Neutral Fan goes to Wikipedia: Requests for undeletion or moves the draft back to the main space. Is there any way to get rid of the non-notable articles, so they can't be revived. Examples include Mamakiki. TamilMirchi (talk) 17:50, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

Just stepping in because my user name is mentioned here. The phrase "articles that I created because they are not notable" seems problematic as per Wikipedia:Ownership of content. I have noticed that this editor creates, deletes, appeals, recreates and then drafts articles repeatedly (often citing inconsistent rules in his deletion requests). Articles recently sent into draft by this user such as Thedu, Goko Mako, Mamakiki, Aivarattam, Bow Bow and Igloo have been bought back because sources exist and they meet Wikipedia:Notability (films). Several other articles have recently been suddenly put into draft by the editor, which needs to be checked. Neutral Fan (talk) 18:32, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
@Neutral Fan: It's somewhat of a moot point, since TamilMirchi has been indeffed for violating WP:PAID. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:56, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

@Eswnav: Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images. While multiple images are allowed, (and you should know this as well, Riya Iyer S Menon), images should not be used merely as decorations, as they seem to be used in this version of the Vani Bjhojan article. Two of those images could probably be cut, especially the one featuring fan art. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:41, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

Advice on editwarring situation

Hi, hope you're well. I have encountered a content dispute with another user who insists on re-addition of content that violates BLP. This includes synthesis and using unreliable references in an attempt it seems to disparage the person the article is about. I have reverted the user BardseySheriff twice but they have reverted me claiming to have added "Factual amendment made with supporting sources". I can't revert them again as I would then violate 3RR so unsure how to proceed. The article in question is this: John Procter (politician), history link [[40]]. I would appreciate your thoughts. Cowlibob (talk) 18:02, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

@Cowlibob: Hi there, what specifically is the content you're objecting to? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:06, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
@Cowlibob: Never mind, I figured it out. I've protected the page and have educated the user on our WP:BLP policy, as well as edit-warring policy. Note that per WP:BLPREMOVE you are supposed to remove potentially defamatory or contentious content when it is poorly-sourced, and doing so, you are exempt from the 3RR. However, you should always try to educate the other editor (via talk page contact, not edit summaries). Also, it might be better to remove the contentious portion rather than the entire edit, unless there were other things you found contentious in those other areas. Anyway, hopefully calm will be restored here. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:28, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

Also, what discussions have you had with Eswnav about the content? This is a collaborative project, so the two of you should be working toward the common goal of making the article better. Fishy BLP draft

This one looks promotional to the point of being fake. For starters, the lead says the subject has a career spanning over 3 decades, but is only 18 years old. Also his career started in 2014 in the infobox. Judging by the Instagram link in the his FB profile, it becomes obvious that the user Indiatravelboy is trying to promote himself in Wikpedia. I came across them here. There are a few more films, he is trying to shove his name. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:17, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Please correct a sentence mistake in Vijay article

M. G. Ramachandran is the first highest grossing actor in Tamil cinema history, second is Rajnikanth and third only Vijay.

could you please change the sentence to- By 2017, Vijay became highest grossing actor in Tamil cinema history behind veterans M.G. Ramachandran and Rajnikanth.

M. G. Ramachandran is bigger actor than rajnikanth he is a legend with many blockbuster tamil films under his belt. please alter it. 123.215.16.234 (talk) 13:23, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm not making the change without sources that make the assertion you want to make. Also, it's unclear what this actually means, since if we're saying Vijay is the "highest grossing actor", how could he be behind anybody? It sounds like what you're trying to say is that Ramachandran was the first highest-grossing Tamil actor until Rajnikanth grossed more. Later, Vijay became the highest-grossing actor. Mentioning Vijay seems like one extra piece of information that doesn't really matter. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:11, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Reply To Your Question

Actually Your logic is also good. I changed the cast information in Zee Tamil Rettai Roja Series because, before changing, the main female character was a bit misleading. So, I changed this.

"Giaa Manek/Rubina Dilaik as Jeannie/Jenu/Chutki/Gita/Mitram/ Rajjo Ji/Jwala/Roopa/Mrs.Khanna (2012−2013)/(2013−2014)"

I think you asked this question. But There is a mistake in the above line. It must be,

Giaa Manek (2012−2013) /Rubina Dilaik (2013−2014) as Jeannie/Jenu/Chutki/Gita/Mitram/ Rajjo Ji/Jwala/Roopa/Mrs.Khanna

THis means, there were nine characters, Jeannie, Jenu, Chutki, Gita, Mitram, Rajjo Ji, Jwala, Roopa and Mrs. Khanna, which is portayed by a single person. But, these characters were portrayed by Giaa Manek from 2012 to 2013, and she may have retired from the shooting, and from 2013 to 2014, the person called Rubina Dilaik portrayed these 9 charactes.

Hope you got my point.

Moreover, in rettai roja seires in zee tamil,

Shivani Narayanan in a dual role as Anuradha 'Anu' and Abirami 'Abi' (Episode 1–168) (Replaced by Chandini)[4] Chandini Tamilarasan in a dual role as Anuradha 'Anu' (died) and Abirami 'Abi' (Episode 169–present)

You have mentioned that, "Chandini Tamilarasan replaced Shivani Narayanan" twice, which is unnecessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vithursan1003 (talkcontribs) 04:52, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

@Vithursan1003: I believe you are incorrect in your assumption that these are multiple characters. They are the same character, but someone has opted to list every nickname the character was given. This is in part why the slashes / / / are problematic; the content can't be easily understood. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:12, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: What you are saying is true, but i hope mentioning the actors who portrayed same character (but in different periods) with slashes won't be confusing and problematic. And also, i changed this, after looking at the cast of most serials. ( They are also mentioned in the same way).
@Vithursan1003: Again, this is exactly my point. Slashed content is confusing; it can't be interpreted the same way in every scenario. There are other, clearer, and better ways to deliver the content. The content is not consistent with WP:TVCAST. And as you've said yourself, you saw that formatting in another article, so you decided to copy it to another article. That is exactly the issue--problematic content keep spreading from article to article, and nobody stops to think about if the content is being clearly communicated in a way that can be interpreted by every English-speaker in the world. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:20, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: But the only issue is how to represent the following,

Shivani Narayanan in a dual role as Anuradha 'Anu' and Abirami 'Abi' (Episode 1–168) (Replaced by Chandini)[4] Chandini Tamilarasan in a dual role as Anuradha 'Anu' (died) and Abirami 'Abi' (Episode 169–present)

....as it is not mentioned in WP:TVCAST — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vithursan1003 (talkcontribs) 05:05, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

Since then they have repeated the same disruptive, unsourced, edits yet again. Having repeatedly ignored final warnings, it seems that they intend to continue with this disruption. Please can I request your intervention? - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 15:18, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

@Arjayay: I've blocked him indefinitely until he can convince a reviewing admin that he understands the issues. I left a detailed list of examples on his talk page. I can't tell if he's deliberately being a pain, or if he's just incompetent. Also, you request is not an imposition to me. If you need help, let me know. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:00, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
Many thanks - I hope you don't regret that invitation! - Best wishes Arjayay (talk) 18:14, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
@Arjayay: Oooh, uhhh... send the easy ones my way. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:19, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

2A02:C7F:143B:E300:0:0:0:0/64 block evasion

This range is still adding false information by using another range which is 2A02:C7F:14DD:D500:C017:7B89:AEEF:896A/64. I think we need to block this range. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.56.62.31 (talk) 17:14, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Looks like Materialscientist got this range. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:07, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

Disruptive IP

This IP is being unnecessarily disruptive, adding cast names in the plot section despite multiple revert and explanations by me and other users, especially here. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:52, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

@Fylindfotberserk: A bit premature for me to do anything here. You've left a notice on their talk page, which is a good first start. I don't know if anons receive notifications when their edits are reverted, so they may not see the reversions or the edit summaries. We typically rely on talk page contact as evidence that we've tried to educate someone repeatedly. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:04, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
This is likely a sock. Filed an SPI. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:10, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

I have seen you have reverted my edit on Kangana Ranaut, but the reference and cleanup was right and I also added a better image in her infobox.969 Movement 2 (talk) 08:14, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Aparna Mishra and Zeeshan Khan (actor)

My extreme apologies for the mistakes I did. I never did them intentionally and promise never to repeat them once again. I have made all the necessary changes and also provided proper summary and references for the subjects of the articles.

Hope that my editing proves better in the next articles.

Thanks a million for your valuable feedback!

Really

I'm just gonna start using wiki the wikipedia users are to annoying I've never been banned once on other websites I just have bad luck with wikipedia and I hate wikipedia admins they use the blocking tool to much I've been blocked for creating my own fan seires on my page and I don't Evan make false edits Superman29912 (talk) 04:35, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

So pls stop I've seen back at the barnyard air in 2015 to 2017 Superman29912 (talk) 04:36, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

And robot and monster Superman29912 (talk) 04:37, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

I never make false edits so why do you delete them Superman29912 (talk) 04:37, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

My apologies once again for the mistakes.

But I have just one question, there are several other wikipedia article where the date of birth is unresourced like Abrar Qazi and Zeeshan Khan actor born in 1989. Why the wikipedian admins never bother about them?

Is it because the subjects on which the articles are made have higher popularity quotient that the wikipedian admins seems to ignore them or is it because the wikipedian admins just want to show their dominance of an ADMINISTRATOR on new wikipedian editors like me?

My apologies for my mistakes, but honestly it took me a lot of efforts for creating these two articles with the right resources. Please check Draft:Zeeshan Khan (actor) properly. For his every show. I have resourced it with the reliable resources on the show and on the episode where he makes appearance, but still you seem to ignore.

While, being a regular wikipedia user I know of several biographies of actors and other celebrities like Mugdha Chaphekar which hardly have one or two resources that too from unreliable sources with respect to Wikipedia like IVMBuzz and Tellychakkar and even the media of the page has been wrongly claimed as a own work, while I know it is a photo taken from the Instagram profile of Mugdha Chaphekar and the admins seem to be ignorant of that? Even the Filmography is so badly edited with no reference, no year of the show, no channel, no reliable references to her shows and still you IGNORE THEM!

This is ridiculous.....

Why these DIFFERENCES? When you were the one who claimed that Wikipedia is a NEUTRAL PLATFORM!

@Aleyamma38: But I have just one question, there are several other wikipedia article where the date of birth is unresourced like Abrar Qazi and Zeeshan Khan actor born in 1989. Why the wikipedian admins never bother about them? The existence of problematic content at one article is never a defense for including it in another article. If there is trash on the street, does that mean that you are at liberty to litter? No. This is a volunteer project, and editors, including myself, have watchlists. I have over 19,000 pages on my watchlist, and it's impossible to see every boneheaded change that is made on every article that I watch. It is also impossible for me to spot problematic content on articles I do not have watchlisted, like Zeeshan Ahmed Khan. So if you find content that is problematic for one reason or another, you are free to fix those issues. Unsourced biographical details, especially information that could be used for identity theft should be removed. Or, if you feel like finding quality sources, feel free to do so. See WP:ICTFSOURCES for guidance.
even the media of the page has been wrongly claimed as a own work, while I know it is a photo taken from the Instagram profile of Mugdha Chaphekar and the admins seem to be ignorant of that? Administrators don't receive notifications that someone has uploaded an image stolen from Instagram. Just like anybody else, an administrator would have to go to an article, look at it, evaluate it, click on the image, evaluate the licensing data, do a reverse image search, find, potentially, where it came from, then tag the image for deletion. There's no magic involved here; adminstrators are editors, and all editors have to find problems before they can do anything about them. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:23, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Then, please do watchlist the articles which I have mentioned, if it cannot be added to your list, then please hand it over to someone else, as you said wikipedia is a neutral platform and I think it is the job of the administrators to see how everything is resourced in every article and not ask the common editors like me to do that job, while just trying to escape by saying It is not in my watchlist!

--Aleyamma38 (talk) 06:50, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) - Aleyamma38, your comment is a bit unreasonable. No editor can watch every article. Administrators have special tools for actions such as blocking, protecting pages, and deletions, but they are no more responsible for every edit made on Wikipedia than anyone else. This is a volunteer project. If any editor finds a problem on an article, they are welcome to fix it, but nobody is obligated to do anything. Schazjmd (talk) 15:59, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
@Schazjmd: your comment is a bit unreasonable. No editor can watch every article. Administrators have special tools for actions such as blocking, protecting pages, and deletions, but they are no more responsible for every edit made on Wikipedia than anyone else.

Okay no more comments from my side. --Aleyamma38 (talk) 16:11, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

@Schazjmd: Thank you for that explanation. @Aleyamma38: You also don't seem to understand the fundamental concept of neutrality, since you keep bringing it up in BOLD but never in the correct context. Neutral doesn't mean that if there's crap in one article there should be crap in another, or that if someone removes problems from one article they must also remove it from every other article on the server. Neutrality has to do with how Wikipedia editors present content, i.e. from a neutral point of view: We are dispassionate about our article subjects. We don't talk poorly about one religious group while elevating another. We don't gush about how marvelous our favourite actress is, even though there might be a good deal of criticism about her poor acting. Neutral means that we neither love nor hate something. We present the facts and we present a balance of opinions that are representative of the majority viewpoint. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:24, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: Whatever you explained about neutrality, my apologies, I have not seen in many Wikipedia articles. As for example Pearl V Puri whose name was raised in the discussion of deletion of Zeeshan Khan. I have seen his article, where there is an appraisal of his struggle. In fact, that is what made to add the line of crap which you had first removed from my two biographical articles. Now is that neutrality? In any case, I don't want to tire you with more questions and really don't expect any answer for what I just asked, because I myself am tired of differentiating what is actually RELIABLE AND UNRELIABLE IN WIKIPEDIA. Honestly, now I really do wish that the article Zeeshan Khan is deleted because I'm tired of explaining why the article is not CRAP, while people are giving a blind eye to most of the ACTUAL CRAP here.
However I really thank you Sir for all the help received from your side. And there will be no more comments or questions from my side

Vijay's Thalaivaa was banned in Tamil Nadu

Vijay's thalaivaa was banned in Tamil Nadu and it did not do well in TN but it did well overseas and other parts of India and producers have hidden the financial information due to several problems the film faced during release. I am exposing the financial information and you are calling as promotion of vijay doesn't make any sense at all. tc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.140.224.197 (talk) 21:21, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Puli, Nanban, etc

Sir, IPs are adding unreliable sources for the budget and gross in the last two days despite explanations on WP:RS, WP:ICTF. The latest is this, kindly check it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:55, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

He's back in Bigil article [45]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:40, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
User/IP keeps adding unreliable sources and/or original researches. Despite numerous messages, both in user/IP talk page/edit summaries [46] [47]. The latest is This, see the edit summary. Kindly see to it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:50, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Readded another source that was removed by me yesterday for being unreliable. Here the IP writes that the source is unreliable. The DNA source lists gross total of two films to be 100 crore, I explained them in their talk page, but they still insist on keeping it. I don't want to break 3rr or game the system in anyway. Kindly see the matter. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:10, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Hi, regarding this, the gross in this source used in the infobox is a combination of Velayutham and Nanban, -→"Both films together collected more than Rs.100 crore". No explicit gross for Nanban is mentioned in the source- Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:39, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
@Fylindfotberserk: It looks like 123.215.16.234 and 72.140.224.197 might be the same person or operating in tandem to push a pro-Vijay agenda. While they are from geographically dissimilar areas, it's possible there are proxies being used. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:54, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, I suspect the same. Very similar editing style. This one too and this one's edits are fully Vijay related. I've seen they put unnecessary comparisons of Vijay with other actors, forgot where. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 06:54, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

An old friend appeared

Just in case you didn't see it ... [48], our old HK friend made an appearance. Ravensfire (talk) 17:52, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

@Ravensfire: Blocked! Thanks, as I didn't see it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:13, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Vinod cleanup

Thank you for the cleanup from that mess - there was a lot there. Would you mind taking a second look at Savitramma Gari Abbayi (TV series)? A couple of edits from others, but nothing majorly significant. The sourcing is also total crap, more sources for dubs and remakes than the actual show! If it stays, it probably should be kicked over the draft for improvement. Ravensfire (talk) 19:39, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Also, unrelated question - when you click on a nettv4u link, do you tend to get a lot of redirects or garbage popups from that site? Ravensfire (talk) 19:40, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
@Ravensfire: I deleted it just now. I haven't noticed pop-ups from Nettv4u, but I usually check links like that with a browser that has a Javascript suppressor. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:47, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
Cyphoidbomb, thanks! Probably need to do the same, that site is pretty pushy and deceptive. Ravensfire (talk) 19:48, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Thugs of Hindostan

Not sure but this doesn't seem right. Substantial change to the lead and the user especially removed every mention of 'British' and 'English' from the article including a CAT. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:46, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

@Fylindfotberserk: I haven't seen Thugs of Hindostan, so I can't say with any knowledge what the plot is. Is it incorrect to describe the redcoats as members of the East India Company vs. calling them the British? Were they working for the crown, or working to expand the company? These details are beyond my expertise. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:28, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
That's why I'm not sure. The edits do not look disruptive, but explicit removal of 'British' from the article looked POV. I haven't seen the film either, heard it wasn't good . Perhaps someone who's seen the film can help. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:35, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

U also had to check most of the movie pages then. Thank you Gautham offl (talk) 06:24, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

ZEE5 to Zee5 Wikilinks Discussion

Thanks, Cyphoidbomb for rolling back of ZEE5 Wikilink to Zee5 Wikilink. I was trying to help by reducing server load with direct links instead of redirection (ZEE5).

Q1 -> The redirection will increase server load, shall we keep it as it is (Zee5)?
Q2 -> Have made a few more changes like this, shall I revert it to original ones?

VKG1985 (talk) 05:11, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

@VKG1985: Hi there, per WP:TITLETM, we would typically use sentence case for business titles unless it could be demonstrated that "ZEE5" is used more often by reliable sources independent of Zee. My cursory check shows that it is used slightly more often perhaps. I Googled "Zee5" -site:zee5.com, then clicked on News and manually counted sites that are roughly considered reliable. After about 5 pages of this the rate was something like 20 to 13 in favour of ZEE5, however a lot of the page hits were from GQ India, so one site's usage dominated the results. Even then, GQ wasn't consistent, since I found a few articles where they also used "Zee5". So I don't know if this informal analysis has really tipped the scales and I'm inclined to ask at WT:IN. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:59, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
Nice, thanks for the help Cyphoidbomb. I will wait for a while until there is a fixed outcome. Once that is decided, I will fix all my edits plus other edits if I can find it. Thanks VKG1985 (talk) 06:35, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
