Edition Silvertrust deletion discussion

Although I use Wikipedia all the time, I never created an account until just now so I could take part in this discssion. If I have put it in the wrong place, please excuse me.

I am a music teacher, performer and specialize as a chamber music coach. I come to this page often as a resource to get me to other pages on Wikipedia and the net. I also send my students here. I was shocked to learn you are going to delete it. I agree with what Peter Klossbruhe has written. You will make a mistake by deleting this page. I am sure that there are lots of chamber music players that come to and use this page as a resource. There must be some other criteria besides notoriety in deterining the usefulness of a page entry. I encourage you to keep this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawrence Larry Block (talkcontribs) 19:48, 18 October 2013‎ (UTC)

Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia. You should make your argument here for keeping the page, as that will allow it to be counted as part of the discussion. However, we don't keep articles because they are useful, we keep articles because they have notability as verified in third-party reliable sources; if there isn't coverage in reliable sources to establish notability, then the article cannot be kept. (Also, in the future, you can sign your posts by adding - ~~~~ to the end of your comment, which will automatically attach a policy-compliant signature to your message.) - The Bushranger One ping only 19:53, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

You bring up a good point about the previous IP and Technotopia being almost identical. Should we open up SPI on the IP? I can generate the report pretty quickly if needed. Thanks for your input in this case. --McDoobAU93 15:56, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

I personally think  Sounds like a duck quacking into a megaphone to me and a SPI is unneeded (especially as CU won't link registered users to IPs except in cases of the most egrerious abuse). - The Bushranger One ping only 16:52, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Unopposed may be undesirable nontheless

Hi, You suggested a unopposed renaming of Category:Prehistoric animals of Australia to Category:Prehistoric animals of Oceania. Being confronted with the consequences, I am inclined to say this is perhaps not as useful as you might have had in mind. Australia is not only a continent (in the meaning of an agreed group of countries), but it is also a country and a continent in the geological sense. So there is nothing wrong with either Category:Prehistoric animals of Australia or Category:Prehistoric animals of Oceania, with PAoA being a subcategory of PAoO, not unlike Category:Prehistoric animals of New Zealand.

Quite another issue is that Prehistoric animals and Prehistoric plants should constitute the subcategories of Category:Fossils, but they currently do not. Fossils has a subcategory Category:Fossils by country with 33 categories. Some of these have subcountry subcategories such as Category:Fossils of British Columbia. Not very consistent with the unopposed renaming. Wikicommons has a much finer categorisation even. Love to hear your views on the matter. Kind Regards, Dwergenpaartje (talk) 16:08, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

My opinion is that both 'of Australia' and 'of Oceania' are appropriate, and should both be used; the specific renaming, however, was in an existing 'of Oceania' tree, hence my reasoning. - The Bushranger One ping only 16:52, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

It finally dawned on me

Perhaps I'm just dense, but I finally realized why WP spends so much effort on recruiting new edtiors, and so little on user retention. I ran across this gem posted as an apparent farewell on User talk:Baseball Bugs.

This paragraph is quite telling:

"The main source of those problems is not mysterious. The loose collective running the site today, estimated to be 90 percent male, operates a crushing bureaucracy with an often abrasive atmosphere that deters newcomers who might increase participation in Wikipedia and broaden its coverage."

They're trying to thin out the males!

What exactly did Jimbo think a self-governing website run by knowledge geeks would look like? Especially when abrasive users such as the one being discussed here are allowed to run wild because they are considered to be "good contributors" by their enablers. It's quite puzzling, to be honest, but the Foundation's stuborn insistence on open editing, and no professional editorial and behavioral supervision isn't likely to improve either retention or recruitment in the long run. Why is it so difficult for the Foundation to understand that people, regardless of gender, don't gravitate to hostile working environments? Instead, as the article points out, they pushed Visual Editor on us! And the article makes it seem like the VE revolt was a bad thing!

As you probably know, one reason I'm semi-retired is because I lost most of my joy for the daily grind of edit wars and contentious discussions. Participating in the Aircraft carrier discussion was a major exception for me, and one I mostly regret. Far too much drama. Oh, WP:DRAMA is a quite interesting read, an inform the major problem of that discussion quite well, though not the deliberate disruption part, as far as I can tell.

Anyways, I honestly think that any effort spent on increasing experienced user retention would go a long way to making WP more user-friendly to newcomers. Am I just clueless on that too? - BilCat (talk) 05:04, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

I've observed that the people who say "you need to be [X]-blind" usually aren't at all at least when it comes to [Y] where Y is 'whoever gored X's ox in the past and is now an acceptable target'. What needs to be focused on is (as you point out) actually recruiting and keeping good editors who are...actually good...without caring if they're men, women, trans, white, black, yellow, or asexual green blobby things from Mars. Of course it'll never happen... - The Bushranger One ping only 06:41, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
I clearly remember when Internet Explorer was king of the browsers, defeating all comers, notably Netscape. Even the government was trying to dethrone them, but couldn't. But out of nowhere came Firefox, et al, and now IE is practically dead, even though I still use it on my laptop. WP will eventually fade away, just like IE, and hundreds of other unstoppable giants of history. Time will tell. - BilCat (talk) 07:17, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
  • From my recent perusal of ANI, I think we have a fair number of "green blobby things from Mars" editing on WP already! - BilCat (talk) 19:22, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Naqvi Orientation

Respected Admin, would you kindly review your decision for deletion of Naqvi Orientation. Writer of the Article attempted his best to make the article upto the requirements of WP. However, writer deserves to be guided being a beginner. Any deletion to article from you would be welcome & obeyed. A learner Thanks to Master on WP subjects.Nannadeem (talk) 14:59, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

If you believe that the deletion was in error, then you need to open a review at WP:DRV. If you wish the article to be restored to your userspace as a draft for improvements, I can do that for you, however you should be advised that if it is simply restored to your userspace and then left without improvements there, it would be deleted again. - The Bushranger One ping only 17:16, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for prompt response. Respected WP Master I do not want to opt WP DRV. I simply requested for its restoration and sought your guide about section(s) which requires improvement or deletion this will be a help to me for improvement of article. Besides, I already promised with one of my supporter that his/her advice for deletion of Biological Phenomena would be done. I seek your kind attention towards my continuous efforts for improvement of article , please view history of the article. Restoration is my request not a challenge. Steering of my cheer or sorrow is in your hand, in retaliation, I have nothing except my acceptance to your direction. Thanks Nannadeem (talk) 19:06, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Restoration of the article would be in violation of the trust placed in me as an admin, as it would go against the consensus established at the deletion discussion. The only way to restore the article is through a deletion review. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:33, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
After finding no way for restoration of Naqvi Orientation and as per advice I opt to WP:DRV on following grounds:
I. AFD template - Personal style has not been reviewed inspite it's removal by editor, who is a beginner and learner as well.
II. Article's factual accuracy - Almost 700 page view statistics show no challenge to it's accuracy, however in this situation edit option is open to modify or delete the contents contrary to facts.
III. The article has been edited by it's writer till 18/19 October 2013 with a clear objective of it's improvement. This improvement aspect requires attention of WP Admins.
IV. For Article's Layout Template - Beiginner once again seeks instructions/guide by any esteemed admin.
V. Proposed Deletion to Article's Content/Section will be a tool of help to editor not only for this article but also base for future article(s). Nannadeem (talk) 16:52, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
I've taken the liberty of starting the DRV process for you based on the above. - The Bushranger One ping only 17:56, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

/* Avenger (Tail 1) */ Added serious flaw of UAS inability to comply with FAA regulation.

Dear BushRanger,

While I appreciate your diligent efforts in keeping Wikipedia a valuable and verifiable resource, I must take issue with your edit to the Avenger UAS page. You deleted the information I added indicating the UAS's inability to comply with FAA regulations.

Obviously, you have the power to impose your will in scrutinizing edits, but that power should be tempered with a modicum of responsibility, reciprocity, and restraint in imposing your subjective views. My edit was supported by a credible and authoritative reference. Here are several more that support the fact that UAVs are currently unable to comply with 14 CFR 91.113 "Right of Way Rules":

faa.gov (pp16): there is a need to supplement the Army’s target acquisition model with a human vision model

Suggested Detect, Sense, and Avoid Analysis for Unmanned Aircraft Systems confirms this technology is not yet approved nor deployed.

Of the remaining regulatory and technological issues, the goal is the certification of a system of technology, feedback, analysis and control, which reduces the risk of an air to air collision, to the same level of risk currently enjoyed for manned flight ...

General Atomics struggling to develop a system that will enable its Predator UAS to comply with 14 CFR 91.113 "Right of Way Rules," so it's obvious Predator class UAS do not currently possess that ability.

A study by the European Defence Agency (EDA) has concluded that a sense and avoid system for long endurance UAV is feasible and that certification of a system is expected by 2015.

7 February 2013 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc.: continues to adapt the prototype DRR into a mature solution that can meet the full FOR and accuracy requirements envisioned for flights in the NAS. Flight tests will continue on both RPA and manned aircraft

25 October 2012 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. ... today announced the successful demonstration of an Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)-based surveillance system that provides pilots with enhanced situational awareness and supports GA-ASI's overall airborne sense-and-avoid architecture for its Predator

Anyone familiar with the issue of UAS operation within the National Airspace System is aware that the issue of UAS inability to comply with 14 CFR 91.113 "Right of Way Rules" is the crux of what is preventing their deployment among airline traffic operating within the NAS. So, the factualness of my edit is unquestionable, and its premise is beyond doubt. If you disagree, please site credible, authoritative references that support your belief.

You cited "WP:RIGHT GREAT WRONGS," "Uncited," and "speculative" as your reasons for undoing my edit. First, I did cite a credible reference, so you've obviously erred in calling my edit "Uncited." With regard to your assertion that my edit was speculative, the documents at the additional links I have provided you above clearly establish the fact that UAS compliance with 14 CFR 91.113 "Right of Way Rules" has not yet been achieved. Your inference that my edit seeks to "right great wrongs as defined by Wikipedia" is unsupported. It is your subjective opinion, and I welcome you to provide the objective criteria you used to reach that erroneous conclusion.

Omitting the valuable information provided in my edit does a disservice to Wikipedia readers, because it withholds pertinent, accurate, and vital information on the subject UAS. I therefore request, that you undo your deletion of my edit, and continue to be an objective and reliable Wikipedia resource.

Thank you - — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.194.217.132 (talk) 15:00, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

As mentioned in the previous reversion of your edit attempt, none of those sources refer to the Avenger, making them WP:SYNTH at best. Secondly, please see WP:UNDUE; while the subject of Acceptance of UAVs in the National Airspace System or UAV operations in civilian airspace might indeed be worth an article in and of itself, mentioning it in the various type articles smacks very much of WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGSism: "see how this drone cannot legally be used over your house". If you can find a source that actually refers to the Avenger itself, you should propose its inclusion on the article talk page for disuccion to establish a WP:CONSENSUS on its inclusion. - The Bushranger One ping only 17:14, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Joe Heck

I just saw the deletion request for Joe Heck and your action here Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joe Heck. Even though it's closed, you might want to add something about the request being made based on vandalism, just for clarification. I was puzzled by it, especially when I glanced over the requestor's other user contributions. However, someone posted the point about the vandalism on his/her Talk page, and that seems logical, as an IP posted some ad for a business at the beginning of the article shortly before. The requestor may have been using a bot, as otherwise the rest of the article would have been obvious. At any rate, the request makes the requestor appear idiotic. I don't know why the requestor didn't retract the request, or at least post an explanation, but if s/he one day applies to be an Admin or something, it would reflect badly on him/her, and s/he would likely have no recollection of what happened. Beyond all that...you might want to contact him/her and point out the dangers of using a bot (or whatever) without further checking. Just a thought. Flatterworld (talk) 18:35, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

If they're using a bot, they have bigger problems as it'd be an unapproved bot. I did miss the spamdalism, however the caution about WP:BEFORE would cover the "glance and nom". - The Bushranger One ping only 19:50, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Unilateral major deletion of content from MV Seaman Guard Ohio page

Hi, can you do something about the major deletion of content [1] from the MV Seaman Guard Ohio page by a user called TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom. Thanks. 109.128.150.134 (talk) 12:34, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

This may be a reasonable trimming of overdetail, with the article kept at as being about the ship; this should be discussed at the article talk page and, barring a resolution there, WP:DRN. - The Bushranger One ping only 19:13, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Request comment on an article you have previously engaged with on the Talk page

Following the completion of a previous BRD on Talk:Lynx (spacecraft) (link to previous discussion here), where User:Skyring (aka "Pete") was unable to gain a consensus on changing the lede sentence descriptive noun in the Lynx (spacecraft) article from "spaceplane" to "concept" (originally changed by Skyring/Pete on 12 Oct), Skyring/Pete has again made a Bold edit and changed the descriptive noun in the lede sentence, this time from "spaceplane" to "program."

I have opened a WP:BRD discussion on this second change. Would appreciate it if you would consider weighing in. The Link to the BRD discussion is here. Thanks for your consideration. N2e (talk) 01:44, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

(full disclosure: I'm placing this notice on each user's Talk page who has been active on Talk:Lynx (spacecraft) in the past six months)

Thanks, but on account of Pete's disruptive failure to listen and his continued wikilawyering I bailed out of that argument for the sake of my own sanity. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:12, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
I totally appreciate that. I've had to do that on a few occasions myself.
Having said that, it is a shame that this disruption goes on, and that this editor has "chased off" two really good editors now. He had earlier done it with User:WDGraham, who came to believe that Skyring/Pete was a troll. Not sure what can be done about it, or what should be, so I just stay in the trenches and try to improve that article against the Skyring/Pete onslaught.
One more note. Another editor just placed an item on my Talk page saying that an Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard item has been opened about the messy situation, for several weeks now, on the Lynx spacecraft article. Don't know if that might change your calculus; but did think I should let you know.
Thanks for your work on Wikipedia. Cheers. N2e (talk) 02:22, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
I saw that and dropped a line. Keep up the good work yourself! - The Bushranger One ping only 02:42, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, ultimately, THAT particular BRD was resolved, and "program" is no longer the descriptive noun in the lede sentence. N2e (talk) 13:10, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

But one other BRD is going on that same Talk page, this one over the removal of a large number of existing citations from the article-space article, and the editor's refusal to follow WP:BRD and leave them in the article while the issue is being discussed on the Talk page. I'm here now mostly to tell you that, in my most recent comment there, I did include a quotation of your word from the current Administrator's Noticeboard issue that is still open. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Thanks for your effforts with that particular disruptive editor! Cheers. N2e (talk) 13:10, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

No problem, hopefully things can get resolved! - The Bushranger One ping only 18:09, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
We can only hope. And I do mean only, as not much else tangible seems to be working, so hope is all we have.
His most recent post is to begin to accuse me of personal attacks, which was definitely his modus operandi in driving WDGraham off, such that WD left the field with this guy, and I believe it is more or less what he did toward you as well. I'm totally unaware of how anything I've done or said in the two weeks I've been (unfortunately) dealing with this disruptive editor remotely approached personal attack. But his method of changing whatever is being discussed into something else is, often effective, I've noted with many of the editors who have challenged him. So it wastes time, and causes misdirection, and keeps us from concluding the one last thing on that article I was trying to conclude: a simple little BRD. N2e (talk) 02:15, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
For me, it was more the wikilawyering that tipped me off that I'd just be talking to a brick wall... - The Bushranger One ping only 02:52, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Potentially his firm hired paid editors. NativeForeigner Talk 21:17, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Basically, that's an admission of meatpuppetry. A clear understanding of WP:SOCK/WP:MEAT, WP:COI and WP:NOTPROMO would be needed for any unblock, I think... - The Bushranger One ping only 21:22, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

On each one of those three BRDs, no consensus emerged to support the original edits. Your part in the wikidiscussion is very much appreciated.

Since the comments on the use of primary sources were spread all over that Talk page, I have endeavored to summarize the consensus that emerged in a section on that Talk page: Talk:Lynx_(spacecraft)#Use_of_Primary_sources. If you might be willing to review that summary, and comment on whether it got the consensus right, I would very much appreciate it. I will of course quite look forward to fixing it if I got anything wrong. Cheers. N2e (talk) 12:45, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

I'll try get a chance to look over it later this afternoon. - The Bushranger One ping only 19:40, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. Appreciate your even-keeled support in getting over the disruption on that page. N2e (talk) 13:44, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Harrasing

Hi, This user constantly vandalising the page Iranian people and harass me. First, he claimed that Zarine Khan is an Indian. I've explainden that she is an ethnic Pashtun who live in India, not Indian and showed the source for it in the article but he continue vandalising and POV pushing. He complained me without using message pages or talk pages, but I did. When I showed him the source that the actress is Pashtun, he started to say that "Pashtuns are not Iranian" etc. Now he is extremely harrasing me, just look at his talk page and history of the page of Iranian people. BBBAAACCC (talk) 07:50, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Scholars use an Afghan/Pathan picture to examply the Iranid race, but this user still continue vandalising Iranian people. BBBAAACCC (talk) 08:00, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
First, please see WP:NOTVAND; while their actions may or may not be proper, they are not "vandalism" as that term has a very limited and specific use on Wikipedia. Secondly, as I mentioned when closing the related AN/I thread, the way to discuss this is through, if discussing with the user directly doesn't work, through dispute resolution or requesting a third opinion. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:14, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Could you protect the article? 'Cause he is going to continue edit-warring I think. Regards.BBBAAACCC (talk) 08:35, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
At the moment, both of you are edit-warring, and in fact you, yourself, have broken WP:3RR. The best solution right now is to discuss, without protection, and that means not continuing to revert yourself - it won't matter if the page is at the WP:WRONGVERSION for a while while things hash out. If you still think protection is needed, though, you should request it at WP:RFPP. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:43, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Discussion?:) I've discussed and answered all of his claims. You can look at his talk page and also complaining page. What should I say to him according to you? BBBAAACCC (talk) 09:57, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
If you haven't resolved the issue, then according to everyone the next step is WP:DRN. - The Bushranger One ping only 20:58, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

More edit warring

I guess this isn't my day. Thanks for the block on Space Shuttle. Hopefully this can be worked out. Another user isn't even trying to avoid 3RR at Americas, in spite of being reverted by 3 different editors. I really am trying to avoid 3RR with one, but he doesn't make it easy. It's not the first time he's done this either. Thanks for whatever you decide to do. - BilCat (talk) 06:10, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

No worries, that one was just getting Silly. I'll take a look at Americas. - The Bushranger One ping only 07:55, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I've disengaged from both articles for the time being, for my sanity's sake. - BilCat (talk) 08:14, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

You need to apologize publicly and immediately

You lied about me in the Airwolf (helicopter) AFD and you need to apologize for it. Jerry Pepsi (talk) 22:32, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) It was an opinion, not a lie. But, quite frankly, you haven't assumed good faith. As the co-creator of both Airwolf (helicopter) and Blue Thunder (helicopter), I, along with other contributors, should have been notified of the AFD, per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion:
"While not required, it is generally considered courteous to notify the good-faith creator and any main contributors of the articles that you are nominating for deletion."
Also, per WP:PROD:
"Proposed deletion (PROD) is a way to suggest an article for uncontroversial deletion."
Did you really think the deletions of long-standing articles created and contributed to by experienced editors in good standing would be non-controversial? I'll assume good faith that you were just being lazy and didn't bother to even look at the contribution history to find out, or to spend the time nomming for an AFD first. Another point of good faith that you don't appear to have even considered, from WP:GAFD:
"Before nominating a recently created article, please consider that many good articles started their Wikilife in pretty bad shape. Unless it is obviously a hopeless case, consider sharing your reservations with the article creator, mentioning your concerns on the article's discussion page, and/or adding a "cleanup" template, instead of bringing the article to AfD." (Emphasis mine, and note that "hopeless case" refers to speedying.)
You missed many opportunities to show good faith, some of which, such as notifying other major contributors, you can still address. - BilCat (talk) 23:55, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
I've prodded articles both older and newer than either of these and haven't had an editor lie and say I was on some anti-fiction rampage. And sorry, not seeing the relevance of the "newly created" scold since you've just said that the two articles in question were "long-standing articles".
The point still stands that I've done nothing in violation of any rules yet I've been falsely accused in a public forum; sorry if you're upset that your articles don't meet notability guidelines but maybe you should have thought about that before creating them in the first place. Jerry Pepsi (talk) 00:11, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
As an editor in good standing, I would not have created the articles if I did not belive that they met notability guidelines; that they don't is simply your opinion. There goes that not-in-good-faith thing again. I grant that the quote above refers to newly-created articles, but the sentiment is still applicable to someone intendidng to show good faith, which I am increasingly doubting in your case. You had no intention of seeing the articles improved, you simply wanted them gone, and so you apparently PRODded them hoping no one would notice, despite the fact that it should have been obvious to a neutral person that such as act was not going to be non-controversial. and thus you have violated the clear rules. And the point still stands that you have yet to notify any contributors of these AFDs, which has nothing whatsover to do with new articles. - BilCat (talk) 00:28, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
I PRODed your terrible articles the same way I've PRODed other terrible articles. If you think I broke the rules, report me. Otherwise you can take your continued BS accusations about what I did or didn't do or what my motives were or weren't and, well I suppose if I finish that sentence it would break the rules. Jerry Pepsi (talk) 18:43, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
As I said at the AfD; I have made no personal attacks, simply an observation. Even if it is not the case it is the way your actions are perceived. You, on the other hand, have egreriously made personal attacks. See also WP:LIARLIAR, and please remember that WP:GHITS is a very, very different thing than gBooks. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:36, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't attack, I only expressed an opinion! See, I can haul that out too. I guess expecting you to take personal responsibility was too much to ask for. Oh well. Jerry Pepsi (talk) 18:43, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Accusing another editor of lying is always a personal attack. - The Bushranger One ping only 06:10, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

How do I go about reverting this bollocksed up page move? The (novella) is completely unneeded as this title is not likely to be confused with any other title. This is just needless and should be reverted. Such things, though, remain a mystery to me... ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 01:44, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Should be all fixed up now; the redirect that was left couldn't be autodeleted by the move attempt back because the moved-twice created a double redirect that a bot had fixed, and with two (or more) edits it needed a nuking. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:48, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan to me. - BilCat (talk) 01:45, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Ryan likes the attention. It's too bad the SPIs have to be done in an open forum, as I thinks he gets off on all that. He could easily just create the articles in userspace, and have someone clean up the article before it goes live, but that'd be no fun. And he might be told the accident isn't notable, and he doesn't like being told No. But WP is not therapy, so that's not really our problem. - BilCat (talk) 04:00, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
One more thing: Over the years, I've become more of an inclusionist than I originally was. Ryan's articles are generally reliably sourced, but most of them don't meet GNG. If the Community of WP is its users, and we have many users creating reliably sourced articles that don't meet GNG, then isn't the Community saying we should have those articles anyway? That GNG is wrong, as it doesn't actually represent a consensus? Interesting to ponder. - BilCat (talk) 04:11, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, I'd argue that a lot of them do...but I have noticed many times that the guideline (GNG) is being held up as a Holy Writ, versus the policy (V) and the mission statment ("sum total of human knowledge"). Sometimes it seems as if that's been replaced with "the sum total of knowledge that would be printed in a normal encyclopedia". - The Bushranger One ping only 04:17, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
You're right about the "sum total of human knowledge" contradicting GNG - it is an odd contradiction that I've noticed before, and it's partly what's contributed to my becoming more of an inclusionist. AFD-warriors with hair triggers and no manners certainly haven't helped. - BilCat (talk) 04:40, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Airwolf

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Airwolf (helicopter) has been speedy-closed as Keep by a non-admin here. I honestly don't know, so I'm asking if this is proper procedure? I thought non-admins couldn't closse for at least 5 days or something. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 06:05, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Actually, he closed it as Keep (Snow) after 3 days. That doesn't appear to fit the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-admin closure, as this is not a Speedy-keep closure. What to do? - BilCat (talk) 06:19, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Well, even leaving aside my involvement in the issue, it seems to me to be a reasonable case for a snow-keep; WP:SNOW is not the same thing as WP:SK. - The Bushranger One ping only 06:30, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
I understood you were involved, so I was just asking for your interpretation/advice. I don't see an exception for non-admins to close as Snow, however. Wikipedia:Non-admin closure seems pretty clear that non-admins can't close before 7 days except for SK or pure housekeeping. Am I m i ssing something? - BilCat (talk) 06:49, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, I've seen it done lots of times, so it seems to be accepted by the community? - The Bushranger One ping only 10:07, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Ok. Just asking. - BilCat (talk) 17:26, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
No prob; this does seem to be (another?) case where the community accepted practice and the letter of the law have diverged. - The Bushranger One ping only 21:52, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Category removal from Kennedy Space Center

Why do you think Kennedy Space Center doesn't belong in Category:NASA facilities? NASA certainly owns it, and it appears in the article NASA facilities. (You're not conflating it with the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, are you?) JustinTime55 (talk) 16:58, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

No, but since it's the lead article for Category:Kennedy Space Center, which is itself a direct subcategory of Category:NASA facilities, I believe it's inappropriate for it to also be in the parent category. Of course, I can see the opposite argument as well, so I won't contest if you think it should be in both. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:00, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Mason Mingus

I'm itching to move the Mason Mingus DYK hook into a prep area, but I stop when I see the invisible/empty sections for race results. I've made the Camping World Truck Series table visible, but I'm not sure what to do with the NASCAR section. Is there any content to be added there? --Orlady (talk) 19:30, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

That's actually a 'main header', of which the CWTS is a sub-section; if you look at Mark Martin, for instance, that shows how it works better. It's a heading tree 'Motorsports career results' > 'NASCAR' > '(series name)'; aside from the key 'NASCAR' is supposed to be "empty". It does look slightly awkward when there's only one relevant series, but it follows the standard formatting. - The Bushranger One ping only 05:06, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

More disruptive editing from Johnsmith2116

  • Yesterday he makes this edit[4] to a golfer article even though he realizes its a broken edit. His edit summary reading 'there's a glitch in here, don't know how to fix it'. You've told him repeatedly not to edit golfer articles unless he does it completely. A edit that deliberately busts the win box may qualify.
  • Today he reverted my edit to Fonty Flock without explanation. In the edit he removed a IC and correct information and replaced it with incorrect.

He'll probably say I reverted his wrong golfer edit of yesterday but I applied the WP:TNT in that instance because it was easier to fix the win box from scratch than his screwed up version. Yes I had the corrected box in 7 minutes after using the TNT....William 14:32, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

  • Some user keeps hounding me for no reason, and the user in question has a 2 YEAR HISTORY of complaints against him from countless users who are tired of cowardly e-bullying and pathetic attempts to play God.

I'll not stand for this and won't be intimidated. I've dealt with scum the likes that that user can't imagine, and I will NOT let a "keyboard warrior" like him pretend to be Mr. Tough Guy at my expense. I can and will provide prove of that user's abuse in the form of accounts from other innocent users, upon request. Thank you.

And he just LIED to you TWICE, on top of everything else. First, I made no "replacing" or whatever garbage he calls it. Second, heaven forbid I make an honest mistake, "oh my god the sky is falling someone made a mistake! Keyboard warrior to the rescue, how dare that person make an honest human mistake, can't have that, I'll teach him, I'm the keyboard warrior! I'll fix him and go crying to the principal again!" This garbage of his has gotten old and pathetic and MANY other's are sick of his garbage and petty stuff. He needs seriously to get a life. I'll continue to do my editing as the rest of the others have without being intimidated by him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnsmith2116 (talkcontribs)

TBR, I am going to take him to ANI for his disruptive editing and personal attacks. He says I lied to you and I didn't. He repeats the same behavior in golf articles that he has been told not to on multiple occasions. This has to end....William 18:09, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

He also tried to claim that I falsely accused him of lying. This is pitiful, and yet predictable - every liar always says they are falsely accused of lying. He has lied on SEVERAL occasions about users, today is not the first. .. Fact is he falsely accuses me of making an inexcusable edit when in fact I went to edit the wrong page by mistake -- but instead of trying to find out what happened, he did what an opportunistic bully like him does and used it as a means to lie and say it was malicious. Please don't fall for his BS. Darn right this has to end -- WilliamJE's 2-year reign as the bully of Wikipedia will stop. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 18:12, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

And regardless of how you feel other editors have treated you, personal attacks are never acceptable. - The Bushranger One ping only 20:34, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Sorry -- I didn't think it was an attack, but more a statement of fact. In any case, his abuse will have to stop. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 20:42, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

My apologies, Bushranger, on not notifying - this whole thing with this back and forth protesting is new to me, and I'm not up on the protocol. If I had known, I'd have notified you. Also I'd like to mention, what I said about that particular editor was not meant as a personal attack, but rather more of a possible statement of fact. But I'll take your advice and keep that type of talk out of it. Thank you. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 21:04, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Apology accepted; it can be a little daunting with regards to procedures. My advice to you, and everyone, is simply to keep cool, take a deep breath and sip a cup of tea, consider if the other fellow might have a point no matter how wrong you think they are, and then to calmly argue your position if an argument is still needed, or gracefully concede if you realized you were in the wrong. As the saying goes: you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. - The Bushranger One ping only 21:06, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Warning

For the record, did you post this warning on my talk page as an admin or a fellow editor? - thewolfchild 07:58, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

There is no difference. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:32, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Hmm... Yes, well, the last time you interjected in a situation involving these two, you made a point of making a distinction between the two, insisting that you were only acting as an editor, not an admin. But, whatever. As an admin, shouldn't you be giving guidance to avoid conflict?
  • BilCat posts on Nick Thorne's talk page, referring to as "The Child", a clear personal attack. (you may say it's not, but you're not on the receiving end)
  • I change it to my proper name, and post an appropriate warning on BilCat's talk page. I then note BilCat posting a comment admitting he shouldn't have this, and won't do it again.
  • That should be the end of it.
  • But then you come along, post a warning on my talk page, for of all things "abusing warning templates". (the irony...) A warning that was ridiculous and baseless.
  • You then post this comment on BilCat's talk page;

...which is, you know, nowhere near a "personal attack". - The Bushranger 07:40, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

  • You are essentially authorizing, even promoting this kind of behaviour. As a result, BilCat appears to have reversed himself from his earlier admission, and has now reverted the insult back onto Nick Thorne's talk page.

That is some fine admin'ing on your part. You are creating more problems than you solve. I am going to ask that you reconsider you actions here, consider what is in the best interest of the project, and address this with BilCat accordingly. - thewolfchild 08:58, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

In this case, as there was no threat or implied threat to block, there is in fact no difference between "as an editor" or "as an admin". Also, you do realise that my comment that you quote, and the warning, were both made before Bil's comment, and not after as your sequence above claims, yes? Also, you should not edit another user's comment unless it's an egrerious slur, which this was absolutely not. As for "The Child", while not necessarily WP:CIVIL it is not a personal attack; it is, in fact, in the came category of not-good as your easter egg link. - The Bushranger One ping only 12:04, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Somewhat related discussion on ANI.
For what it's worth, this kerfuffle with BilCat is almost the same as when thewolfchild was brought to ANI for ongoing harassment of administrator by editor. In that case, the admin was me. Toddst1 (talk) 13:27, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. And yeah, I remember seeing that come up before... - The Bushranger One ping only 23:33, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Could an admin take a look at User:New editor in training? Seems up to no good. It's contributions are definitely suspicious. TWC is certainly the victim here, and I seem to be the obvious connection between the project and user pages that have been edited. This also has me and the same project page as the main connection. The 2 users may be unconnected, but it seems fishy. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 08:35, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

  • ...yep, there's a distinct scent of fish(y) to that. I don't have time to look into it alas right now... - The Bushranger One ping only 02:30, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Dead Cool Records

I very strongly object to the deletion of my article. Reasons given, such as "No evidence of long-term notability for a label (notable acts or releases, etc), no sourcing." is completely off. I provided links both to artists, articles and studios. As well as a picture of the entire discography. Please undo this deletion. There are tiny articles on Wikipedia, with almost no reference to anything. Whilst mine meet all criteria. I do intend to expand on it. But it is already a good article. And quite important to quite a few people. --Mc peko (talk) 00:23, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

If you believe that the deletion is in error, you need to file a request for restoration at WP:DRV. Please note that while other stuff exists, that other stuff is completely irrelevant as to whether or not this article should be deleted or kept, and that its subject "being quite important" is also not a reson for an article to be kept.

Daphne Rosen 'recreation' on 'user' page

Hi Bushranger<bd /> If Daphne Rosen sounds familiar, you deleted it as a result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daphne Rosen (2nd nomination) on 8 August 2012.

'Hammer time' may be just what is needed here at User talk:Aminul Islam Khan#Strange page moves where the I enquire why the 'Rosen' page you userfied has been moved.

I suspect that Bigbreastslover18 (talk · contribs) and Aminul Islam Khan (talk · contribs) are the same person as 'Khaaaaaan!' ( ;-D ) has had several porn star pages CSD'd recently.

Your perusal of these events would be appreciated. :-) - ;-B- 220 of Borg 02:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Looks like somebody else nuked it. I'll take a look at the rest in the morning. - The Bushranger One ping only 07:52, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks Bushranger (Ned?). The newer pages are gone but User:Daphne Rosen is still around. (Looking rather 'healthy' too) - 220 of Borg 09:03, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Indede; I've deleted it per U2 (nonexistiant user). If they're the same user they're not in a violation as the old account remains abandoned and was not blocked; 'moving on' is acceptable (as long as it isn't to evade scrutiny). - The Bushranger One ping only 10:47, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

In-article interwiki links

Regarding you edit summary "we don't link this way" here. I went looking for the guideline toquote in my intended revert, but instead was quite surprised to find the opposite at Help:Interlanguage links#Inline links. Their link fits with "It is sometimes possible to combine the two approaches, giving a local red link in addition to an interlanguage link explicitly marked as such". In this case, it does follow guidelines, as is a useful link. As is quite comon on WP, is there a guideline somewhere else that forbids this? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 03:28, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

...huh, I was unaware of this. I'd assumed it fell under the "no external links in article body" provisions. If you think it's useful, feel free to revert me! - The Bushranger One ping only 07:52, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
I was unaware of it either! Seems somewhat useful, but would be more so if it were in a Latin alphabet and had immages, like this de:Marenco SwissHelicopter SKYe SH09 article which we do not yet have. Still, linking to the Japanese article might encourage a translation to be done. - BilCat (talk) 20:02, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

PGM-11 Redstone

BR, could you take a look at this edit? I've replied to the user on the article talk page, and issued a warning for unsourced edits on his talk page, but those may not be enough. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 06:52, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Given the nature of the removal (tagged as unsourced for over two years and not at all a WP:BLUE case), he needs to accept its removal, I'll see what I can do. - The Bushranger One ping only 10:49, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Textron

Textron has been the target of a lot of advert-type additions by several users in the past few months. One, an IP, even removed the advert headers today! Any suggestions on how to get some eyes on the article, such as a noticeboard? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 17:10, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Hm, not really my area of expertise, beyond WP:COIN? - The Bushranger One ping only 23:48, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Can you review his edits here? This is the user's second removal of the advert tags tonight, along with re-additions of advert-type language. I don't want to get into an edit war. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 03:17, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Yes, WP:COIN is helpful. But there's much more you can do yourself as well. I have replied at Talk:Textron/Archives/2015#How to keep this article free of PR speak. —Unforgettableid (talk) 09:27, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Do large vessels have inherent notability, or reasonable equivalent?

I think you and I may agree, or more or less agree, that large vessels haven't had to experience what Mangoe called "particular incidents", in the past, in order to merit a standalone article here. A year and a half ago you participated in those other four {{afd}}, where the nominator tried to justify deletion by calling on the tenuous and not really applicable authority of WP:Notability (vehicles). In the current discussion someone referred to WP:SHIPS, a wikiproject page, not a special purpose notability guideline.

In my reply to Mangoe I suggested we could use a new special purpose notability guideline, or alternately add a new section to an existing special purpose guideline, that would address ships.

I think that new guidelines should address other elements of essential infrastructure, beyond ship -- including things like canals, dams, bridges, power plants, railroads, and expressways.

You suggested that all vessels over 100 feet merited inclusion. The USCG's Marine Protector class of cutters are only 87 feet. My rule of thumb has been whether the vessel was crewed by full-time employees. I considered basing it on the construction cost, but inflation makes that worthless.

So, do you think formalizing the convention we both recognized, into a specialty guideline, is worth trying? Geo Swan (talk) 13:35, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

I believe it would be appropriate, but honestly, given the pain involved in doing it... there's a reason WP:SOLDIER hasn't been pushed beyond "only an essay". - The Bushranger One ping only 00:19, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

In cases where they do that, try using 1= before your comment - such as {{archive top|1=Text goes here - ~~~~}}. Sometimes you need the "1=" after the "|", sometimes you don't, I just default to always using it. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:25, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Ship cats

I've been building some new stubs for various ironclads and have attempted to create the appropriate hierarchical cats for ironclads of X and am having some odd issues with them not working properly. I hate to add more work for you, but I don't really understand all the cat templates and their interplay. The main issues are with ironclads of Argentina and Greece, but you might want to check on some of my Dutch ships as well. I was trying to copy paste from exiting cats, but it didn't seem to work so well. Thanks in advance.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 03:19, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Potential sockpuppet of Levineps

Recently, User:Oriole85 (contribs) has been sporadically popping up on my watchlist for category-related changes. A lot of new users do that, so it wasn't a particularly noteworthy thing for me. But then he kept showing up with a higher frequency, oftentimes making (what I thought to be) completely unnecessary over-categorizations to articles. I've been on Wikipedia long enough to know that User:Levineps (contribs) is one of the most notorious over-categorizers we've ever seen (and has the community sanctions, block records, and bans to show for it). So, I did about two minutes' worth of research and discovered that Oriole85's account was created / his edits began on November 5, 2013. When was the last edit by Levineps? November 4, 2013. That is not a coincidence IMO. I don't have (a) the time right now, nor (b) the motivation to formally open an SPI, but I'm hoping that one of the many people I'm notifying about this does. If you're wondering why you're being pinged about this, it's because I saw where you were one of the people who has left messages on Levineps' talk page at some point regarding his inappropriate editing. So now, in addition to all of the aforementioned issues with Levineps, it looks like a probably sockpuppet to throw into the mix. Jrcla2 (talk) 05:29, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

ARCA cars

I uploaded the cars for the main players in ARCA from the Road America race [5]. I uploaded a few interesting images as well. Do you think that I should upload images of all of the cars, or would you rather have someone ask me for an image if another driver become notable? Royalbroil 14:04, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Nice work! My personal opinion would be to go ahead and upload them all - that way, they're available if and when they're needed, and can be used for "general Commons purposes" as well. - The Bushranger One ping only 23:05, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Do you think that anyone would look if they created an article? I keep finding new articles where no one even looked for my image! Also, is the WikiProject NASCAR newsletter coming soon? I have to upload the images of the Nationwide field and I was waiting a little so there would be images for the newsletter for the offseason. No problem if not planning on a newsletter - then I'll just upload them right away. I'm trying to finally catch up on images for the first time in about 2 years. I have a major trip to Montana, Alberta, and British Columbia to finish before I catch up. Then I want to work on some articles on the major off-road racing people. BTW, I've gone to the off-road World championship race for the last 4 years (another set to upload). I've done a great job of capturing all the main off-road people. So let me know if you have an article on even a minor off-road driver like Jarit Johnson. In 2013, all the main guys from the Midwest and the West Coast showed up. I have the trucks and some drivers in Robby Gordon's Stadium Super Trucks. I have MANY off-road images... Royalbroil
Well, I try to look at least, can't say about others though...as for the newsletter, distributing it is up to Nascar1996, so I'm not sure. I'm not too deep into the off-roading stuff, but that is an area where current coverage is lacking, I'd agree! - The Bushranger One ping only 19:42, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
I'm new to watching off-roading, though I'm a big fan since I've been playing off-road games (MX vs. ATV Unleashed), so maybe I could put those SST images to use. ZappaOMati 19:46, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I'll load the ARCA field after I'm done with the more pressing uploads. ZappaOMati, I'll do the SST pics next and I'll leave you a message. Then I'll do the Nationwide field from Road America. I'm a long term fan of off-road racing. I just found my old VHS tape from a 1994 SODA race on ESPN Speedworld - boy was that interesting! The young guns are now the old veterans. If anyone's interesting at looking at my racing pics, I upload to flickr using the name royal_broil. Royalbroil 02:42, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
'Tis a shame that racing coverage isn't as extensive as it was then. 600 channels now and yet... - The Bushranger One ping only 10:43, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Her article is contradictory. It says that she was both born in Andrews, North Carolina and Cedar Bluff, Alabama. Curiously enough, both places are in Cherokee County. This source[6] says Gordon was born in Cedar Bluff but this another one that WP has blocked supposedly says Andrews. Since you work alot on NASCAR articles, I thought I would bring it to you....William 17:03, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. That looks to be a case where "current residence"/"notable for being from" was confused for "birthplace" (by a bot that did persondata); Andrews is correct. - The Bushranger One ping only 19:49, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

I am unclear why you reverted my changes on Jerry Glanville's entry. I took out a lot of irrelevant (and generally unsourced) data about his supposed relationship with Brett Favre which, even if true, certainly is not "encyclopedic" in nature with respect to Mr. Glanville. It's unnecessary details. I also provided an Edit Summary at the time of the original update. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.70.81.154 (talk) 22:11, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

It was an incorrect edit summary, as it stated that the information was unsourced, however there was in fact a source for part of the removed information. That was the basis of the reversion; if you still think it should be removed, then you need to propose its removal at Talk:Jerry Glanville to gain a consensus for its removal. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:18, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

I do think the information should be removed, as I stated in my original edit summary that it was irrelevant, but I'm not inclined to start a roundtable discussion about it. It's actually somewhat entertaining to read, just not encyclopedic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.70.81.154 (talk) 23:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Simiprof (talk) 16:20, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Have you considered that perhaps it is because the 'non-Western' references do not meet Wikipedia's standards for reliable sourcing? - The Bushranger One ping only 20:01, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
I have flagged 1 page for deletion (which I followed from a irrelevant link that had been added to a page I was editting), and only after asking for input from other members of the project. Someone else flagged the images (which lacked adequate copyright information) for deletion, however all you have to do is add the missing information and they get to stay. I have deleted text Simiprof added that was both inaccurate AND unsourced, which anyone is free to remove, but which you persisted in undoing (as well as undoing other editors efforts) so that you came close to being in violation of the 3 revert rule. None of which constitutes stalking.NiD.29 (talk) 20:10, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi Bushranger, might I trouble you to take a look at Frederator Studios. There is a new editor (Toothy) making dubious hoax-like contributions, but I don't want to get into a 3RR situation. Textron COI issues again

BR, Textron is experiencing the same COI issues as we discussed before. Can we initiate a Sockpuppet/meatpuppet investigation against these users, and seek a block/ban? They refuse to follow COI guidelines, and are insisting on adding promotional material to the article. I've issued a 3RR warninv to the latest account used for this, User:Saabin23. Ryan kirkpatrick sockpuppet(s) and 2014 Norfolk helicopter crash AFD

I noticed you blocked that one editor as being one of Ryan K's socks. He took part in the AFD for the Norfolk article. Does his edit to the AFD get reverted?

Another thing- Two IP editors based out of the UK, 85.210.175.111 and 86.145.34.52, have taken part in the AFD. Both without much of an edit history outside of the AFD and the Norfolk article. The first of the IPs chimed in a similar way to the banned sock of Ryan. I don't know for sure if these are also Ryan's socks, but I thought I'd bring it up. You are WP:INVOLVED with the AFD because you voted as did MilborneOne who also hunts down Ryan's socks, but I didn't know who else to mention this to. BTW I'm going to ping MO and The Rambling Man about this thread so they can put in their two cents also....William 15:46, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Here is a proof that George is romanian. He is romanian /moldovan (no difference, the same people), but he can't be russian. Russians never has the second name Botezatu. This is 100% romanian name. Also look on russian wiki, they not change his birth place. Or ask some russian people if they know something about George as "russian" )). But in Romania and in Republic of Moldova, George is mentioned in all books and school books as our co-national. If you need more links look here [8], here [9] and here [10]. But better read books, many books, before editing wikipedia. You really need it.
Why you try to privatize this person to another coutry? Are paid to do this thing? I can report you. XXN (talk) 00:23, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia's standards on reliable sources. Please also refrain from making personal attacks. The fact that Romanian sources state de Bothezat is Romanian is hardly surprising, but since the vast majority of reliable sources - and, as it appears, virtually all non-Romanian sources - state that de Bothezat is Russian, then Wikipeida must state that de Bothezat is Russian. The place to advocate for de Bothezat to be recognised as Romanian, if he in fact is, is in published, mainstream works - not on Wikipedia. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:26, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Who decides which sources are reliably and which not? You? Don't make me laugh. I provided you 4 sources that present this persoan as romanian. Please give me at least 4 non-russian sources which will infirm that George is romanian and i will leave this article. Otherwise i will change his birth dates. XXN (talk) 00:37, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Please read Vandalism, and (more specifically) Disrupting Wikipedia to make a point, which is what you have just stated you will do. You provided four unreliable sources that support your claim. Romanian sources that state a person of disputed birthplace was born in Romania cannot be considered as reliable sources for proving the birthplace, as they are obviously going to reflect a pro-Romanian point of view. If you want to run them past the Reliable Sources Noticeboard, you can feel free, although I would strongly advise you against wasting your time in doing so as the result there will be exactly the same as you are being told here.
However, since you insist:
"...hosted a lecture by the Russian-born mathematician George de Bothezat... (The God Machine, James R. Chiles, Bantam Dell (New York), 2007)
"...she had hired Russian-born engineer George de Bothezat..." (Gloria Swanson: Ready for Her Close-Up, Tricia Welsch, University Press of Mississippi, 2013)
"The first manned "flyable helicopter"...is attributed to Russian-born George de Bothezat..." (First to Fly: North Carolina and the Beginnings of Aviation, Thomas C. Parramore, University of North Carolina Press, 2002)
"...Russian-born Professor George de Bothezat..." (Reuben Fleet and the story of Consolidated Aircraft, William Wagner, Aero Publishers (California), 1976).
I hope this is sufficient to satisfy your request. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:54, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Milka Duno

Hi Bushranger,

I handle Milka Duno's PR and we have a desire to change her profile image to one that is more current (2013) and is of her at an ARCA race in current uniform.

I don't have the necessary time on Wikipedia to be able to do so.

Is there a way that you can help me?

We have the rights to the image and the rights to use the image from both the photographer and the series.

Many thanks,

Hi there. First, just having the rights to the image and the rights to use the image isn't enough; the image, to be used on Wikipedia, must be released under either the GNU/GDFL or Creative Commons licenses. If it is, what you need to do is to upload the image at Wikimedia Commons, and then submit a OTRS ticket verifying that you have rights to the image and that it has been released under a compatible license. In addition, you may wish to change your username, as usernames like the one you currently have are actually violations of Wikipedia's username policy. Hope this helps. - The Bushranger One ping only 20:29, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
