Beatles[edit]

I had been considering the "Other charted songs" idea but ultimately decided that such a change would be too major to carry out without some consensus and left them as they were (it appears almost all of the B-sides are listed with the single infobox in their respective articles). It's not exactly something I would do for the standard discography article, but I suppose a special exception could made for a discography for an artist as prolific as The Beatles. Airplay was indeed a large factor in the B-sides' chart positions, with stations usually playing both sides of the single upon release; Billboard almost certainly counted sales of the physical single, however, for both the A-side and B-side when formulating chart rankings – singles didn't get to chart based on airplay alone until 1998.

It would also seem rather odd to have an other charted songs table almost as large (if not larger) than the singles table, with one B-side corresponding to each single release (a separate B-sides table would probably be more appropriate). It's a rather complicated discography, but for now I see no problem with leaving the B-sides in the table. But that's just my take on the listing. Holiday56 (talk) 09:24, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ke$ha discography[edit]

Yeah but this is a proper indication of updated sales in the US - which is pretty much her core. And if we're going to abide by the RIAA certifications, then TiK ToK would be 5xPlatinum, Blah Blah Blah would be Platinum, Your Love Is My Drug would be 2xPlatinum, Take it OFf would be Platinum, but those certs were updated by Wikipedia users based on actual sales and that's what I did, so unless you're going to change those certs, I'd think those certifications that I put up are a reliable indication and a substitute for the RIAA's certs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SayaamRulz (talkcontribs) 17:02, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A personal RfC[edit]

Hey Sufur222, how is it going? If you have a chance, I would really appreciate it if you commented at Talk: Venus (Lady Gaga song)#Single?, and help me explain that a song does not need to be released to radio to be a single, and songs that are just released for official digital download prior to the album's release (as long as it comes with their own download page) are still singles, even if the artist wants to call it a promotional single. I guess I just made the mistake of deciding to get involved with editing a pop album, maybe I will just stick to hip hop albums after this is over lol. Again, I would really appreciate it because I know there were many discussions about this at the WikiProjects. STATic message me! 05:06, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RE: A barnstar for you![edit]

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. You have also done a great job on a number of discographies. Metallica was one I thought would never happen. It used to be a complete mess. I tend to follow the edits that have been made by Holiday56, but pretty much all of the discographies I've cleaned up need additional work. It's usually the guest appearances and lead sections. Have either you or Holiday thought about cleaning up the Linkin Park and Pearl Jam discographies? I'd love to help out. I took this semester off so I have a little bit more free time than usual. Anyway, I'll talk to you soon. Infex (talk) 20:04, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A strange one[edit]

Hi Sufur222, hope you're well. If you're not too busy, would you be able to look in at User talk:Quadell#mirror images? A very odd situation, regarding a new Harrison biography, which … well, it basically rips off Wikipedia's Harrison album and song articles. Strange but true.

What I'm hoping is, you might want to follow the link from Quadell's page and hit "helpful" on my Amazon review for the book – which I've signed as "HariG". In the interests of drawing attention to this issue, I'd simply like to ensure that the review is helpful/popular enough to register in the listing's main space. Quite understand if you'd rather not of course. Many thanks. Best, JG66 (talk) 18:04, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Salsoul Nugget (If U Wanna) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of Salsoul Nugget (If U Wanna)[edit]

The article Salsoul Nugget (If U Wanna) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable song, no info found on performer, who does not have article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Australian chart peaks outside the top 50[edit]

Hi, back in November 2012, you added an Australian chart peak to the Ain't Talkin' 'bout Dub page, cited from one of David Kent's chart books, but listed as an ARIA Chart peak. Just so you know, David Kent's books are based on his Kent Music Report chart, which ARIA licensed between mid 1983 and 19 June 1988 inclusive. From the chart dated week ending 26 June 1988, ARIA commenced producing the chart themselves, and so Australia had two different charts until the Kent/Australian Music Report chart ceased publication in the late 1990's. ARIA, being the music industry body for Australia, declared its chart Australia's 'official' chart following commencement; and since the Kent-produced chart ceased publication, it has been Australia's only chart. Sometimes there were large differences between the ARIA and Kent Report charts, particularly in the lower half of the top 100.

I've replaced the peak you listed with "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Dub"'s ARIA chart peak, and added a new reference for this. Admittedly, Australian chart data outside the top 50 pre-2001 (when Pandora commenced archiving the weekly electronic ARIA Reports online) is not easy to find online, but Gavin Ryan's "Australia's Music Charts 1988-2010" book collates ARIA top 100 peaks from January 1990 to December 2010 inclusive.Nqr9 (talk) 08:42, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

List of number-one songs in Norway[edit]

Hi. Can you please work on List of number-one songs in Norway in your sandbox first, then copypaste it over to the article? Just copypaste what you did already and work on it in your sandbox. As I said in my edit summary, you're making the page quite inconsistent by working on it there. You're using mdy date formats in the references then insisting on dmy in the table—this should be consistent throughout. You're using publisher as a parameter in references where work is defined when we don't need Hung Medien listed for every ref, and we definitely don't need to un-italicise "norwegiancharts.com". Websites are italicised, it's just the done thing. You're also missing out the weeks that VG-lista, the official chart provider, actually uses, and instead relying on norwegiancharts.com, which does not show the weeks, has a lot of issues and doesn't even archive songs properly. Norwegiancharts.com is full of issues so until you can incorporate the actual week the official site uses, I don't think it's right to be worked on there. Your table was also left under the heading "2015", which is not correct. There's just a lot of issues as is. Until it's complete, it's best to make it a WIP in your own space. Thanks. Ss112 04:11, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please consider changing the column header "Single" to "Song". It used to be the case that everything that reached number one was a single, but not every song that reaches number one now is technically a single—for instance, the latest number one, "Better Now" by Post Malone, is not a single. This also goes along with the fact that the page is titled "list of number-one songs". Ss112 04:30, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Regarding your recent edits, please be advised that chart positions lower than 200 should not be added. This was decided by consensus and is now a chart guideline at WP:Record charts#Charts with more than 200 positions. Also, there is no need to add the song= parameter to Billboard charts (Canada, US, and the US R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts) as it is not a supported parameter per Template:Single chart#Billboard charts. Thanks. Ss112 00:23, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ah wasn't aware of this, thanks for letting me know - will bear in mind in the future. I've generally added the song= parameter for Billboard stuff as a precaution in case they change the site structure again in the future, but if that's advised against I'll stop doing it.
