Fair Use Image removal from userpage[edit]

Hi. I removed many fair use images that you were "using" on your userpage. Fair use images cannot be used in that manner. It appears that you may have just been using your userpage as a sandbox, which is fine, but when you are done editing, especially when using fair use images, you should remove them. You still have quite a bit of fair use images on your userpage in the anime (I think?) series boxes. If you are done with those, just remove that entire section. If not, please remove the images at least from your userpage. Please see fair use policy for more information on the restrictions on using fair use images on Wikipedia. --MECUtalk 19:49, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 03:02, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:08, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball General[edit]

Baseball Greetings fellow baseball fan! I notice you've made edits to baseball articles and thought you might want to become a WikiProject Baseball member. Among other things, we've recently started an article improvement drive just for baseball-related articles at WP:BBAID. Please take a look and vote on an article or add one of your own. Major League Baseball Lore[edit]

I hate to keep poking at the Major League Baseball Lore article but doesn't the 2004 postseason write up belong in the 2004 American League Championship Series article? —Wknight94 (talk) 17:26, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Working too long on any one edit presents that risk. It's better to work on something for a little while, say 15 minutes, and then save what you have so far. Just like you would with any other document. Meanwhile, I want to know if you have a problem with any of what I wrote that you reverted. I don't want to necessarily put it back if you're going to zap it again. Wahkeenah 13:47, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's good to see I'm not the only one staying up too late due to wiki-additiction. :) Arguing about Yankee Stadium? I don't recall. I can't remember one editor from another after a day or two. On reflection, you're right, the stuff about championships and trends is overkill. A lot of that is in the main articles. This article is about what makes the park physically unique in a broad sense. So the reasons for the closeness of the Yankee Stadium and Pac Bell right fields should be in their main articles article, and just the mere fact of these things is sufficient for this summary. Wahkeenah 17:46, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MLB Infobox[edit]

Why did you remove the ownership section from the infobox? That is quite important information about the franchise. Owner, manager, and GM should all be included in that section, in order to make leading personnel easy to find, and not just buried in the article. Perhaps adding the owner at the top looks a little out of place, but it should't be removed. I added that at 2 AM (and screwed it up multiple times before getting it to work!), but if i would have had more time, I would have added all 3 of theose people under a section called "personnel." Get back to me on this. Mr. Vitale 22:35, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why exactly did you alter the article to claim that they are based in Baltimore? IrishGuy talk 02:31, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's called "copying and pasting and then forgetting to change something." I never do that. Well, hardly ever. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 02:52, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure the Baltimore fans wish the Red Sox were playing there. The demise of the Orioles in recent years has given new meaning to "O's". Maybe they should follow the lead of the Angels and call themselves "The St. Louis Browns of Baltimore", since that's pretty much how they're playing these days. Those B-teams have had some past rivalries. Late one season, around 1970, somebody sneaked on the field at Memorial Stadium and used a herbicide or maybe gasoline to burn the words "RED SOX" onto the Baltimore infield grass. I wish I had a photo of that someplace. They had to hurry and cover it up, what with the post-season coming. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:04, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cathedrals[edit]

Well, that's a touchy subject. I've become a Babe Ruth fan over time (though not particularly a Yankees fan), and I'm quite interested in the history of ballparks, including Yankee Stadium for sure... but the 1970s remodeling was, to me, like replacing the Chartres Cathedral's famous stained-glass windows with plain glass and window clings purchased at Wal*Mart. :( Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 18:50, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yankee number 34[edit]

The New York Yankees have not retired this number yet. The player to which you attributed the number, Elston Howard, wore number 32 and that digit was retired in his honor. So, if you could, please correct this.

BTW: Number 34 was last worn by Mel Stottlemyre, both as a pitcher and coach. Though it would be nice if it were retired for him, I don't see that happening any time soon. Rollosmokes 18:31, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Hah! Thank you so much. If you look at the edit when I added them all, I put in a link to number 32, which led to nowhere. When I looked I realized that I had linked to an image that didn't exist, since I'd made 34. I linked to that one, thinking that the mistake was in linking to 32."
"Fortunately, I made an image of the circle with the pinstripes, and numbers 1-0, so I can easily make any number. I'll get right on this, and, thanks again."
I'm glad I could have been of service to you, a fellow Yankee fan. Rollosmokes 06:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think we should change the article name yet until the new stadium opens. If no sponsor name is in place, then we'll worry about it. One model to look at is Busch Stadium, which was only changed to the new stadium after it opened.

This new stadium is technically Yankee Stadium III, as the current stadium has been referred to as "Yankee Stadium II" or "The New Stadium" since the 1970s renovations.

I'll put this on the talk page. Milchama 17:46, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yankees[edit]

While I can understand the need to trim the megillah about the early history of the Yankees, I also think it's important to retain the facts about their nickname so that the average reader won't be misled into thinking it magically appeared overnight in 1913. "Yankees" appeared about as early as "Highlanders" did, and was in regular usage, along with "Highlanders", for much of team's decade at the Hilltop. By 1908, the New York Times was apparently using it exclusively. Baseball Bugs 00:51, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your updated pictures of the retired numbers of the Cardinals are violations of copyrights. They are based on the wall,[3] which, due to the artwork of the players, is creative work covered by copyright. By basing your work off it, the images become derivative works and cannot be "free"; they must be approved by the artist who drew the wall. Baseball Nicknames[edit]

Baseball "Nicknames"[edit]

Hi SWoD. I am sorry to say it, but I think the "nicknames" that you have added to the pages of all 30 teams in Major League Baseball have got to go. They are unsourced and unofficial, and do not belong in an encyclopedia. Names like "Redbirds", "Blue Crew", and "BoSox" are journalistic flourishes; it is always clear from the context what is meant, and a reader who had not heard of such names does not need to be told to use them by an encyclopedia. Names like "the Rocks" and "the Bravos" practically seem like you made them up just to have something for each team. There are a few names, such as "Bronx Bombers", that have enough usage to perhaps merit mention somewhere in the article. But even these do not belong next to the actual team name, in the introductory paragraph or the infobox.

In conclusion, "Dodgers" and "Yankees" are official team nicknames. Any other nickname is unnecessary to identify the team. You are likely to disagree with me here; as far as I can tell, you are the one who added all these nicknames to the pages. If that is so, then I would like for you to choose the forum in which we can discuss the matter. --BlueMoonlet 00:13, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where does it say anything in the infobox about "official" or "unofficial" nicknames? For that matter, why doesn't the separate line for "nickname" seem to work in the template? Baseball Bugs 06:26, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have put a number of them back. BlueMoonlet needs to study this subject a little more closely. A few of them are recent media (read: ESPN) inventions, but the teams themselves use many of them, sometimes in their own logos and publications, and in some cases for years or even generations. A good example is "Redbirds", which not only is a synonym for the Cardinal bird, but is also the inspiration for their own mascot, "Fredbird"... as well as being the pet name of the team frequently used by Harry Caray during his quarter-century doing their games, and also other broadcasters, all of whom were or are subject to approval by the Cardinals organization. In another example, one of the Oakland A's logo says "A's", which gives it official status, stemming from the days when Finley owned the team and encouraged the nickname "A's" as well as displaying it as the logo still used today. As yet another example, the Baltimore Orioles have used "O's" in their official publications. Some of us old-time Cubs fans don't like "Cubbies" very well, but they sing it that way every day at Wrigley Field, with the full knowledge and approval of Cubs management. Baseball Bugs 10:59, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's important to keep in mind that many of today's "official" nicknames originated in the media. The teams themselves later embraced them for marketing reasons, just as they have in turn embraced many of these "alternate" nicknames. Of the pre-expansion teams... "Dodgers", "Yankees", "Cubs", "Giants", and "Pirates" ... at least ... all originated in the media rather than being "chosen" by the teams up front. Baseball Bugs 11:20, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I invite both of you to discuss the matter here. --BlueMoonlet 15:15, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So noted. I approve deletion of my comments from this page if SWOD wants to. Baseball Bugs 17:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the point of "trying out" unsourced nicknames on the the team pages themselves. They can just as easily be discussed on talk pages. As they are now, they should not be in these articles. Fortunately for you, I didn't care enough to undo all of them.►Chris Nelson 04:23, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Nicknames[edit]

Thanks for you comments about the nicknames. Team nicknames is a subject that has always interested me. I've kept the History of baseball team nicknames page low-profile (only linking it from the the broader List of baseball nicknames page) until I feel like it's done better (especially the intro, which is too long and has too much that sounds like "original research") and/or someone else has had a chance to critique it, as it's almost entirely my own input, a "pet project". I am inclined to agree that ballpark nicknames could be another section. Two things to be careful of: (1) the length of the article, which may require breaking into separate sub-articles; and (2) some yahoo demanding citations for every last one of them. I ran into that problem with some idiot editor on a page about city nicknames (he wanted specific citations for Chicago being the "Windy City" and Boston being "Beantown", for example) and I put myself on a 48-hour block to cool down.

I share your disgust with the deletionists. I'll take a look at the link and see if I can add anything to it without it getting my blood boiling (which is dicey, and is why I seldom watch the "Images nominated for deletion" page). I knew that my uploaded Polo Grounds illustration might raise a fair-use question, but I wasn't prepared for the "you could redraw it" argument, which as I see it would be blatant "original research". The "fair use" page is extremely complex and basically useless. It should boil down to the simple axiom which is buried somewhere within that megillah: "Where's the harm?" And there's no harm in a small illustration of uniforms. I would say this, though: If, for example, they are copied from a recent work, e.g. Marc Okkonen's exhaustive volume on the subject (a great reference for my team nicknames page, by the way), it would probably be a good idea to seek permission.

As for my user name... thanks for noticing. :) And if you're interested in another megillah, read this link that I included in the externals for Baseball Bugs. [6] It's a mock-serious analysis of the cartoon. When I decided to come back with a much-narrower watch list, after nearly quitting last May, following another stupid argument over another stupid issue (and purposely having my old user ID blocked for that reason) I was stumped for a new name. Then I recalled the cartoon "Baseball Bugs", which was one of my favorites and which I had already pointed out was a now-obscure play on words (typical of the WB artists) having to do with "bug" as an old synonym for "fan", something more akin to "fanatic" than the word "fan" actually is (which comes from "fancy", not "fanatic"). "Bugs" or "Bugsy" as a noun or adjective meant "crazy", and everyone who had that nickname in the first half of the 20th Century got it for just that reason. That nickname is passé now, although the expression is still recognizable in the verb form, as in "that bugs me". And it does have to do with insects, as someone who is "buggy" is liable to be agitated, as if he had bugs crawling on him, which I would assume is where it came from originally. Which will bring us back to "Do"... er, no, back to word origins. I could go all night on that subject. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:15, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One other thing about nicknames. Sports figures have inspired countless nicknames, especially for baseball players. Some of those nicknames in that list are "Bermanisms", which could practically be an article unto itself, and would drive citationists "buggy" (to coin a phrase). It also occurred to me that listing them by team is kind of tedious, and it might make more sense to list them alphabetically, especially if team and ballpark nicknames are off-loaded to make the article somewhat smaller. The team nicknames page is practically there already, except I could add more of the "unofficial" nicknames. In the article, I've added only the most obvious unofficial nicknames that are easily cited if someone presses the point. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 06:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've voted for "keep", on principle, and pointed out that this hare-brained notion of inventing home-grown drawings not only makes wikipedia look like it's run by amateurs (which it is, technically), but it also amounts to original research, which is forbidden by wikipedia policy. The deletionists are so hung up on their blinders-on zeal to delete, that they don't think about the bigger picture (pardon the ironic metaphor). Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 08:48, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball team nicknames[edit]

You've been doing a lot of work on nicknames. I think it's fair to keep that digest of team nicknames in the nicknames article, as you've done. I wrote the separate article about the history of the [official] nicknames, which I took to be too much minutia for the main nickname article. However, it has gotten kind of elephantine. If that subject interests you, I invite you to take a look at it and suggest ways to improve it. I know already that it has repetitive information due to the hodge-podge effect. I'm thinking of re-arranging it by chronology rather than by team alphabetically, to remove some redundancy (how many times do we need to re-explain the Red Stockings / Red Sox / Reds story?) and emphasize the evolution of the nickname concept from ballclub self-identification to popular media tag to corporate logo. Hi - I changed the Boston Red Sox cap logo as you requested. I think 1 pixel top and bottom is far too stingy for cap logos, especially when its outermost color is white - it bleeds into the rest of the page (see Los Angeles Dodgers) but hope you think this new one is better. Should scale better now, with less navy around it. SixFourThree (talk) 15:30, 26 March 2008 (UTC)SixFourThree[reply]

Yankee Stadium photo[edit]

Terrific shot of the new ballpark playing field! Little did you know that would turn into one of the more infamous days in Yankees history. I wonder if you have a shot of the scoreboard with that football score number up there. More importantly, do you think the outfield is really the same shape as in the old stadium? From that photo, it looks to me like the 399 sign is closer to center than it was in the old park. But that might be an illusion. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 13:22, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I guess the key question is whether the new Stadium is cozier than the old. It may turn out there was a practical reason the original Stadium had such a deep left field area - maybe the ball carried too well there. As a Yankees fan, you should read The Year Babe Ruth Hit 104 Home Runs, by a guy named Jenkinson. In the 1920s, when left center was even more cavernous than in the "classic" Stadium layout, Ruth hit a number of shots out to that area that would have been home runs any other time. Of course, that boy could seriously hit, under any circumstances. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 12:42, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Uniforms[edit]

Socks with uniforms[edit]

Can you include socks with your template. Many teams uniforms, like the Red Sox, are characterized by their socks.

I posted this on the Red Sox talk page the other day but I thought I'd bring it up with you directly: An article in the Boston Globe a couple of days ago quoted a Red Sox official as stating that the blue socks are not the official road socks and he strongly implied that the team will be switching back and forth between the colors of their socks all throughout the season. Sure enough, this week, they wore red socks on the road in Cleveland. Because of this, it might make more sense to cut off the uniform box on that page at the knee.

Thanks for the help and congratulations on the awesome images you make. Nsfreeman (talk) 15:08, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, can I ask you to create uniform boxes for the eight teams of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball? Most of your current templates would suit most of the teams, with the exception of York. JaMikePA 01:10, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MLB uniforms to Commons[edit]

Hi!

It's so great that you created freely-licensed images of major-league baseball uniforms! I'd like to use them in the Hungarian wiki and I think editors in other wikipedias would appreciate if they can use it as well. So, do you mind if I upload them to Commons? Thanks, Hu:Totya (talk!) 19:35, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Silent Wind!

When I asked it there was no dispute about the license of these images. Now I'm a bit afraid to upload it to Commons as license is treated very seriously there, if it's not absolutely clear then it's deleted. Also there's no "fair use", every picture must be free. I didn't follow the dispute, so please let me know what's the license status of these images now? Are they clear?

About Commons: Yes, it's a different account, it's pretty much like another Wikipedia but with less article and a lot more pictures. :-) Anonymous upload is not allowed, but if you have an account you can easily upload a new version of an image, just like here. If you don't want to register, I can update the images for you. --Hu:Totya (talk!) 00:21, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a fourth Sox uniform called "Celtic green", which refers not to the Boston Celtics, or "Peter Pans" which reflects color of Fenway Park. These uniforms are worn on St. Patrick's day. Could you add it Sox uniform image you created?

  • I uploaded the alternate uniform, which I recolored myself. --killervogel5 (talk)
  • Thanks for the updated uniform image, but I wanted to let you know that the uniform has been reported as cream-colored, not white. There are several links to the unveiling press conference (just search Google) that show the uniforms being a very light off-white. Also, seeing as the uniforms are modeled after the Phillies' 1946-49 uniforms, I would guess (though you cannot tell from the press conference images) that the socks will be blue, not red. Thanks! --killervogel5 (talk)
    • No, I didn't mind the rewrite at all. There probably are some lighting issues, but I went ahead and updated it last night anyway. If it turns out to indeed be white, I can gladly put it back the way it was. Thanks. --killervogel5 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 16:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • So what are we using for the source now that the Phillies have worn their uniforms outside? It's really difficult to tell, because every news outlet including the Phillies website reports them as being cream or off-white, but they really do look almost white. Look here in the Phillies photo gallery for pictures of today's game. Killervogel5 (talk) 01:44, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Socks[edit]

Hey SWoD,

Recently, the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals unveiled new uniform designs for the upcoming 2009 season. Here are descriptions of the new duds, with links included for reference.

BALTIMORE ORIOLES HOME: Black cap with new bird logo (right of link) and orange brim. White jersey with orange "Orioles" script and jersey number below it (both outlined in black) on front, Orange stripe (also outlined in black) along sleeves, patch with Maryland flag pattern inside orange circle (outlined in black) and "BALTIMORE ORIOLES" lettering in white (and outlined in black) on top and bottom of circle on left sleeve (where most baseball patches go). See this image for clarification. AWAY: Cap same as home uniform (yes, including orange brim). Grey jersey with orange "Baltimore" script and jersey number below it (both outlined in black again) on front, sleeve stripe same as home jersey. Left sleeve logo same as home jersey, except "ORIOLES BASEBALL" on top and bottom of circle. Right sleeve logo is smaller "Orioles" script. See this image for clarification. ALTERNATE 1: Black cap with "O's" script and orange brim. Black jersey with "Orioles" script and jersey number below it on front, sleeve strip same as home and away jerseys. Left sleeve logo "ORIOLES BASEBALL" logo from road jersey. Left sleeve logo is smaller "Baltimore" script. See this image for clarification.

Also, the old Orioles logo with the baseball diamond is dunzo.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS HOME: Same as previous home uniform, except red interlocking "DC" monogram (outlined in gold) is new left sleeve logo. No patch on right sleeve. AWAY: Cap same as previous away uniform. Grey jersey with red "Washington" script and jersey number below it on front (both outlined in blue) on front, red sleeve stripe with blue pinstripe in middle. Left sleeve logo same as home jersey, no patch on right sleeve. See this image for clarification. ALTERNATE 1: Cap same as home uniform. Red jersey with left chest monogram now script "W" as seen on home cap, striping white. Left sleeve logo white interlocking "DC" logo as seen previously on left chest, no logo on right sleeve. See this image for clarification. ALTERNATE 2: Navy blue cap with "DC" logo, but in a "Stars and stripes pattern" Navy blue jersey with same "DC" logo as on cap, red, white, and blue striping. Left sleeve logo Nationals primary logo. See this image for clarification.

Glad I could keep you up to date! Let me know when you've finished this, OK? Peace, Tom Danson (talk) 02:57, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blue socks on the Red Sox?[edit]

What's your source for Red Sox graphic with blue socks on the road? Speaking of the Mets, it appears that the team has eliminated the black alternate "NEW YORK" road jersey, as it is no longer being sold in the official MLB online store (http://shop.mlb.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=706416&cp=1452359.1452830) or the Mets team stores. Also, the team has thus far only worn their road grays in the 2009 season. Perhaps the stirrups should be cut a little lower, as most of the major leaguers who currently wear them, wear them with a lower cut than the cut you depicted. Also, with the stirrups cut that high, there would be sanitary sock showing in the back.Redsox00002 (talk) 20:05, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a long process, which you can see by looking at the history of the images on the image page. They started as a recoloring of the uniform images found on the Hall of Fame website (http://exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/database.htm), but they were attacked for infringing on the creator's copyright claim, so I had to create a new version from scratch, and I just kinda emulated the original design in Paint. That design has been slowly refined, and I just recently made what I hope to be the final version. The simplest answer is that I just draw them in Paint using images for reference. --The Silent Wind of Doom (talk) 21:22, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I can twist your arm to create a similar image for the Daytona Cubs so I can add it to the page? The uniforms are similar, the home-white uniform has blue pinstripes (they have the Chicago Cubs logo in front and Daytona Cubs logo on left sleeve), the away uniforms seem to be either light grey or light blue (two types apparently?) with pinstripes and have "Daytona" in red letters emblazoned across the front. I think it would be cool if there was something for the Washington Senators too. There have been two franchises with that name yes, but I'm thinking a separate page of their history (first and second franchise) would be beneficial for readers.

May I use your MLB uniform designs in my project?[edit]

I am working on a project involving all major sports teams uniforms per city in North America. I love your designs and was hoping you would give me permission to use them. I will give you proper credit in my final document. So you know, my project involves changing team colors. I will not be selling this project or using it to defame your name or any team names. It is simply for my personal display with my portfolio. And I will be happy to send you the project upon completion! Thanks.Johncodysmith (talk) 14:33, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much! I may reach out to you for help with those as well if you are game. Speaking of, ever done any for the NBA? or MLS? 24.214.57.106 (talk) 16:09, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yankees Jersey[edit]

Hello dude, I love your baseball jersey edits, especially your Yankee one. Can you please put it on the Yankees page, because the other jersey on the page looks terrible. It's not up to dat at all. I would really love it if you updated the logo and kicked of the other logo. I understand it's passed opening day, but can you please make an accept ion. Thank you.

New Baseball uniforms of 2017[edit]

Hey dude, I love your baseball uniform templates. I was just wondering if you going to update them for 2017? I know it's still very early until the season but just wondering lol. ANTbook365 (talk) 20:47, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

USA Baseball uniform[edit]

Hey, I see that you make all the mlb uniforms, and you have good templates for all of them. I was wondering if you could make a jersey template for the current USA WBC jerseys. This is the link to the US national team page--> https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_national_baseball_team. I just think it would look much better on the page, as teams like Japan, Cuba, and Italy have jersey templates for their national baseball team page. Since Your templates are very good I was hoping you can make one for the US. -Jim Donbostki — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baseballfanallstar2247 (talkcontribs) 16:58, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

USA Baseball uniform (Follow up on last guys request)[edit]

Hello Silent Wind of Doom, I was reading through your talk page and found this request from the guy above about making a uniform template for the USA baseball page. Im a huge fan of sports, Wikipedia, and the U>S> of course. Since their is no current uniform template layout on the page, it would be great if you can make a template for the page.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_national_baseball_team. If you can accommodate this request, I along with many other people will be grateful. Because at the end of the day, your the current best baseball uniform template for Wikipedia user out there. Hey again, I was wondering, since you make templates for all the MLB teams, if you could make one for the USA national baseball teams page. Their is no current uniform template layout on the page, it would be great if you can make a template for the page.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_national_baseball_team. Ypur very good at designing these templates. It would be a great addition to the page. I also realize that I keep asking you ally of things. I'm sorry if I'm annoying lol. Thanks. ANTbook365 (talk) 23:16, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does that mean you can't make the US uniforms, or that you are just waiting to see that all the MLB jerseys are correct? ANTbook365 (talk) 19:40, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, my bad. On the lin that you sent me I didn't see the thing about the jerseys. I was looking on it but didn't see it lol. My bad. ANTbook365 (talk) 19:58, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Padres Baseball Uniforms[edit]

Hey, sorry to bother you again, but I just noticed a small mistake with the padres uniform templates. In the padres second game of the season against the Dodgers, they wore the navy blue jerseys with the SD logo on the right breast. You don't have them in the template but the padres seem to be using them again this year. I just noticed it a couple of days ago so I decided to tell you. WBC Teams uniforms[edit]

Sorry it took so long. Thank you so much for saying something. It's been a very busy month and this really snuck up on me. Got it done, though, and also fixed the copyright issues. Uniform Templates[edit]

Hey man, I really love your uniform templates for baseball (the NC Dinos one caught my eye). I was wondering if you could email me a set of blank templates or if you had templates for hats and/or shirts as well. I’d like to use them for designs as I am looking at getting into sports fashion design as a side hobby. 69.116.145.6 (talk) 04:32, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Added them to a talk page for your IP. Dunno if you've got a screen name and just wasn't signed in at the moment, but here's where I put them in case you're checking here while signed in.

Mets uniform graphic[edit]

Just as a note, the Mets don't use their regular mostly-blue city skyline socks with the revived black uniforms, but plain black socks, as was the case when the uniforms were first in use. This I can confirm because I'm sitting in the upper deck of CitiField watching the game with them wearing the uniforms as I type this.

Oh, yeah, greetings from CitiField. oknazevad (talk) 02:25, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jersey designs alone, for a meme[edit]

The fact that they're now the Cleveland Guardians sent me down this Sailor Moon meme rabbit hole, so I wanted to make graphic using some of your designs, but only the jerseys, and of course I'll credit you. Here are the ones I want. I'd like them as .png files. I rarely check my Wiki account, so if you do respond, may you do so via Discord? Saavik#8917 You're such a rockstar, I love your images. file:MLB-NLE-NYM-Uniform.png[edit]

Hey, just as a note, if you're planning on doing any updates for this season (a service I appreciate more than you can imagine), on tonight's Mets radio broadcast they were discussing that the road blue jerseys (the ones reading "New York" that are labeled as Alt 2 in the image) are no more, as, according to the announcers, there's now a limit of 4 jersey options outside special MLB-wide programs (like those City Connect ones from the past few seasons and the Players Weekend ones). Now, the immediate reason for this discussion is that the Mets had to drop one of their blue jerseys in order to keep the resurrected black ones. But if the announcers were correct in their understanding (they're usually pretty good), the implication is that there will be a lot more changes as there are currently many teams with fifth (or more) jerseys. oknazevad (talk) 01:30, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Football Uniforms[edit]

Chargers uniforms[edit]

Hey, nice additions to the NFL pages on the uniforms part, to go along with the other sports pages. But you made a mistake on the San Diego Chargers uniforms. Remember, they switched back to white helmets this year when they redesigned their uniforms. Otherwise, good job.Jgera5 (talk) 16:23, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also want to add that the templates for the Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all wrong as well. You have the old Vikings uniform style on there, and neither the Rams nor the Bucs have a third jersey, even though both of what you have listed is sold as "fashion jerseys". Just wanted to add that as well.Jgera5 (talk) 16:44, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beat me to it. Was going to remind him of the white helmets. Pats1 T/C 03:07, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NFL uniform images[edit]

I see that a few people have posted a few complaints above about the NFL uniform images you recently uploaded and added to appear Template:NFL team. I have a more basic complaint: I would prefer you do not use the terms "Home" and "Away" because NFL rules state that teams can choose whether to wear their colored jersey or their white jersey at each home game. For example, the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins, and the Miami Dolphins traditionally wear white at home. The Carolina Panthers, the Houston Texans, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and a couple of other teams traditionally wear white at home during half of their home games.

Because Image:NFCE-Uniform-DAL.PNG, Image:NFCE-Uniform-WAS.PNG, and Image:AFCE-Uniform-MIA.PNG are not accurate because of the "Home" and "Away" labels, and the other accuracy complaints posted above, I am going to temporarily disable it on the template until you fix this. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 03:55, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I agree. I think some representation of the uniforms should be there, but it can be done differently. As Chris was saying (see two sections above), most teams mix-and-match their pants/jersey combos, so it can be confusing. Pats1 T/C 03:19, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The template has been reverted so the images can be shown again. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:40, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago Bears uniforms[edit]

I like the uniforms, but it seems that for the Chicago Bears when you created the uniform you forgot to create the orange alternate home jerseys that the franchise wears. I would like to know if you could create that one too, please. --Happyman22 (talk) 00:21, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miami Dolphins uniforms[edit]

Regarding your picture of the Miami Dolphins' uniforms, you are missing the jerseys they wear at every home day game - white on white. They only wear aqua at night games or on the road when the home team elects to wear white. White-on-white is their most frequently used jersey.►Chris NelsonHolla! 18:08, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well white-on-white is worn pretty much all the time. Do you think if I told you a list of Dolphins uniforms you could make a pic of it?►Chris NelsonHolla! 05:36, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well basically, here's how the Dolphins' jerseys break down right now:
  • White-on-white - home/away
  • White-on-aqua - alternate away
  • Aqua-on-white - Night home
  • Aqua-on-aqua / Orange-on-white - both alternates, though neither has been worn for quite some time.

Chris NelsonHolla! 05:50, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well if I may be nitpicky myself for a second, it's aqua and not teal. Teal is the Jags' color. ;)
But anyway, what about this: how about you make a pic, similiar to the original pic, with all five combinations in this order - white-on-white, aqua-on-white, white-on-aqua, aqua-on-aqua, orange-on-white? No labels or anything. Any section on jerseys at the Miami Dolphins article can simply have text explaining their usage. But do you think you could make a pic of those five combinations side-by-side like your original pic, minus labels?►Chris NelsonHolla! 06:10, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And in case I wasn't clear, when I say color-on-color I mean jersey first, then pants.►Chris NelsonHolla! 06:11, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2008 NFL Season Uniform Updates[edit]

I've started to update the NFL Uniforms to make them up-to-date. I have no problem going through all 32 teams. So far, I have updated the Browns, Cowboys, Bills, Chiefs, and 49ers. I am very passionate about my work and team uniforms. I take my work very seriously and as detailed as posible. However, if you feel like I'm overstepping my boundry and you do not want me to continue, please let me know ASAP. Thank you. JohnnySeoul (talk) 01:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Once I've finished recreating the uniforms, I will switch them to the original name. Thank you. JohnnySeoul (talk) 01:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uniform request[edit]

Hey SWD, I love the current NFL uniforms you did. Since I probably couldn't match your technique, would you also be able to do a handful of historical Pats uniforms for me? Specifically, I want their 1995-1999 home and away, their 1994 home and away, their 1993 home and away, and their 1992 home and away (which is basically their jersey from 1960-1992, only with a few minor changes along the way, like away pant color and striping). Also, could you crop the current Patriots jersey picture for it only includes their home and away (not silver, so 2000-02). Thanks. Pats1 T/C 22:26, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anything? Pats1 T/C 19:27, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Giants[edit]

Have you ever been to uniwatchblog.com. It is an excellant source for recent uniform changes. The Giants decided to scrap the alt. red uni and just go with blue and white. But the giants will have a couple of throwbacks in 2011 according to this. [10]

NFL uniform templates[edit]

Okay, you, JohnnySeoul, and Pats1 have made changes to the uniform templates the past two years. We are now on the THIRD template in the past two years. I put a topic up for discussion on the talk page. We need to have one template long-term. Jgera5 (talk) 13:09, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree with you in that there needs to be one template long-term, but I would just like to say, and this is directed to Silent Wind of Doom, that the new template is worse than the old one. The proportions of the uniform are really off, making it look cartoonish and bloated. Also, the resolution and level of detail are much less than the old ones. They just look really, really bad. I'm sorry to say that. Pats1 T/C 20:13, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with Pats1. That new version you made kind of looks like a retro Nintendo video game. I think the versions we have created since the 2008 season have worked great and the 2009 version was an even greater improvement. Johnny "Seoul" Factor (talk) 00:40, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Football template talk[edit]

I'm about a month late, but I've gone ahead and offered my suggestion regarding the issue. I'm still working to perfect my template and it would require a good bit of modification for pro uniforms, but I think it addresses some of the issues you mentioned and I'm open to suggestions for how to improve it even more. I think it's a good middle ground compromise. --Kevin W. 09:12, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An invitation[edit]

It's about high time that I get to work on the updates to my college football uniforms for the upcoming season, but I've come to the realization that there is a fundamental disconnect between my artistic vision and Wikipedia's rules. The rules don't allow my work to be expressed to its full potential and I can't continue to put in artistic work on Wikipedia, only to see it damaged and warped to fit the rules. I understand the justification for the rules but I won't compromise with them. I'm just not going to continue that work here. However, I do not want to give up my work entirely. I'm working on an independent website that will be a database of college football uniforms, similar to the Gridiron Uniform Database and the Hockey Uniform Database. I know that you are quite knowledgeable when it comes to sports uniforms, so I was wondering if you might be willing to be a collaborator on this project. It's not something I can do on my own and I've asked several other people if they're interested. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks. --Kevin W./TalkCFB uniforms/Talk 08:37, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, in the St. Louis Blues uniform you made, in the away uniform the Blues logo in the center of the jersey has the wrong colors. Any chance you have a recent version of this file to re-upload. I've already reverted the incorrect graphic because it's mishandled, but would like to restore the more carefully curated and licensed version. oknazevad (talk) 23:47, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I got a notification of the image being orphaned and checked it out. Realized someone made a bit of an HD remake of my original template. I found it cool. I haven't maintained the NHL uniforms in what has to be well over a decade at this point, so you'd have to ask the uploader of the previous version, or discuss the copyright with the creator of the update so that it can be reuploaded properly. The JaMikePA Saga[edit]

Orioles uniforms[edit]

You need to check out the current Baseball Hall of Fame site for the actual uniforms. The O's don't wear black pants, and haven't in any recent season. The home cap has an orange brim. Don't revert something because you feel insulted that someone edited your picture or article when you were wrong.

JaMikePA 22:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

D-backs uniforms[edit]

Also, it is obvious that the D-back template was created by someone who didn't know the correct uniform design. Your template is grossly inaccurate and obviously not from the Baseball Hall of Fame site.

JaMikePA 22:26, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uniforms[edit]

Obviously you're the one who's pissed about someone changing material you created. Your D-backs template sucked. The colors were totally wrong, and the Orioles never were black pants. No, I'm not a fucking hermit, unlike yourself. I didn't insult you in the way you insulted me. I insulted your contribution for being inaccurate, so don't impose your antisocial BS on me. I am in the Army, so I am definitely not the antisocial one. Also, don't pray for me since it's obvious that any Christianity you may have is hypocritical and judgmental.

Stop adding your grossly inaccurate uni pics to MLB teams. I am reporting you, as you don't care about accuracy. Take the Dodgers page for example.

Don't ever write to me like that again! I copied your message and reported it to an admin. You're the one being immature and rude. It is apparent that you're concern for accuracy is minimal and just want your 'concepts' on the MLB pages. You just want your images to be on every team page, disregarding the rules that Wikipedia is founded on. Also, not all of the inaccuracies are minimal. Take the Phillies, they don't or have ever worn a red jersey with blue piping.

MLB uniforms[edit]

Hi. First off: I'm not an admin and I'm not interested in getting involved in any personal dispute between the two of you. With that said I reported back to him my observations of the team uniforms he mentioned to me: User_talk:JaMikePA#MLB_uniforms. I'm not sure whose versions I was critiquing. I'm a Phillies fan, so I know that one well, otherwise I'm just looking at the online team shops and photos from recaps throughout the season. I'd suggest taking this to whatever wikiproject handles baseball. Let me know if you do, I'd be interested in the discussion. Thanks. ccwaters 12:45, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let's get something straight, schmuck, you're not any kind of authority on this site. I don't have to talk to you, especially when you act like a jacka$$. Not every uni pic has to be of your design.

As for the errors: Washington Nationals, the alt is not a solid, white interlocking DC. There is gold and navy blue outline. Arizona Diamondbacks, as I told you before, the D-backs alts have the wordmark in sand with black outline, not white. I understand that the wordmark appears white with certain media, but look at the MLB fashion guide and any coverage of their uniform unveiling last year. Also, the home wordmak lacks black outline. Colorado Rockies, the alt is never worn with purple sleeves, but black. Seattle Mariners, the alt looked horrible with a totally different shade of blue and the wordmark is silver with Northwest green outline, not white with green.

It is not for you to decide whether a depiction is accurate, as your opinion doesn't hold water with the rules of Wikipedia. An encyclopedia is and always has to be the most accurate source of information, or else other sources will use the incorrect info, too.

And the obvious solution is to post illustrations that have some sort of official standing, rather than trying to draw them just because the deletionists think that's how it should be done. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 17:41, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Deletionist Saga[edit]

Hi, please take a look at Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion/2007_August_24#Image:ALE-Uniform-BAL.PNG. If you would like to contest this deletion, you may want to contact the closing admin or challenge the decision on WP:DRV. You should refrain from re-uploading this image pending any form of review. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 08:11, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be a common problem with Nv and his group. You might want to have a look at this arbcomm case proposal. I'm not asking you to get involved or anything of the sort, but I think you'll find the actors and the situation familiar. As it stands now, it seems like a small group has taken on "ownership" of the image deletion policy and replaced consensus with their own decisions, which tend to bear little relationship to the consensus on the IfD. Image Deletion[edit]

The accepted forum to take your disagreement about the image deletion to is Wikipedia:Deletion review. -Nv8200p talk 13:49, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at the principles established by the ARBCOM in this case. -Nv8200p talk 13:54, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Where the deletionists will be waiting to pounce, I'm sure. Until this past weekend, I truly thought the issue was copyrights, which I can understand. When it turned out to be about making wikipedia look amateurish (as though mediocrity were somehow a good thing), I was shocked and appalled. And angry, and depressed. It's all very offensive. These characters are out of control. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:29, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another important deletion review[edit]

You didn't participate in the deletion discussion on this one, but you're as qualified as anyone else to judge whether the deleting admin respected the clear language and spirit of our deletion policy and guidelines. Here's the deletion review I initiated: Wikipedia:Deletion_review#Image:KinseyTIME.jpg. Best, Dan—DCGeist 07:00, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
