WikiCup 2018 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.

Our top scorers in round 1 were:

• Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
• FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
• Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
• Ceranthor, Numerounovedant, Carbrera, Farang Rak Tham and Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. WikiCup 2018 May newsletter

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

• Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
• Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
• Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
• SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
• Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
• Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
• Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

WikiCup 2018 July newsletter

The third round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

• Courcelles, a first time contestant, with 1756 points, a tally built largely on 27 GAs related to the Olympics
• Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three GAs on natural history and astronomy topics
• SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with a variety of submissions related to transport in the state of Washington

Contestants managed 7 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 120 good articles, 1 good topic, 124 DYK entries, 15 ITN entries, and 132 good article reviews. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 458 GA reviews, in comparison to 244 good articles submitted for review and promoted. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process; several submissions, particularly in abstruse or technical areas, have needed additional work to make them completely verifiable.

BLPPROD

Hi there, wanted to drop you a line about WP:BLPPROD as I just removed the tag from the William McGreevey entry and thought some more explanation was warranted. BLPPROD is a really odd process because (among other reasons) it departs enormously from WP's usual standards of sourcing--it accepts literally any source that supports a claim in the entry, no matter how unreliable or how it's formatted. So for instance, if I had a blog about ornithology and then made an "Innisfree987" mainspace entry that said, "Innisfree987 is really into birds" and put the blog as an external link...that would be enough to make the entry ineligible for BLPPROD. (It would of course qualify for regular PROD, AfD and probably A7 if not other CSD criteria as well.) So merely listing primary sources, as the McGreevey entry does, is enough to make it ineligible for BLPPROD even tho clearly that would never be enough to sustain an entry in mainspace. BLPPROD just a weird process that possibly should be abolished because it constantly causes eminently reasonable confusion... In the meantime, just wanted to send this FYI explaining my de-prodding.     • I'm not offended or bothered by your action, Innisfree987, as I understand why you removed the tag, but I can't help but feel that we're just wasting a second week of time to end up at the same result here. Respectfully, I would not call those sources myself; more like his portfolio, and it was and still is my opinion it's a BLP with no sources - I do not see a list of his selected works with links so you can read them as "sources", whether or not policy suggests they are. Given it also served the full 7 days of PROD I'm surprised it wasn't just deleted. *sigh* and I really don't think an A7 would be accepted given I think it at least makes a credible claim of significance, and using a straight-up PROD tag would have ended this by now, but because it was a BLP I felt the extra attention warning was warranted. Surely it would have been challenged if anyone thought it was a mistake? That being said, thank you for the heads up. I will be re-tagging with PROD and watching for another week. Deletion of Richard J. Marks article; possible solution and userfy

Hello! I hope this will reach you, regarding the deletion of the page for the article Richard J. Marks, in which it was suggested by two editors that userfy would be recommended. Therefore, I read the notes again carefully, and through my reading of it, may have a solution. Marks is IS notable as a film Producer. He is listed clearly in the credits as a Producer, in at least three publicly released short films/TV about key renewable energy and/or China convenings with interesting contexts: 1. Producer: LinkTV https://archive.org/details/linktv_earth20081114 (Time Code 25:30) 2. Producer: The State of Renewable Energy Finance” -- https://player.vimeo.com/video/133473382 (Time Code 7:41) 3. Producer: "WIREC: Washington International Renewable Energy Conference" -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxu1YDNI7k4 (Time Code: 8:00). I would like to propose moving the article back into user space, with Marks listed, more simply, as a Producer of environmentally-oriented films, using those links above. That would solve the problem of the lack of print articles about him at this point in time. It would give others a chance to benefit from his contributions. The opening may be rewritten: "Marks is the Producer of film narratives that provide environmental solutions and leadership voices, in the United States and China. Thanks so much. WikiCup 2018 September newsletter

The fourth round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The eight users who made it to the final round had to score a minimum of 422 points to qualify, with the top score in the round being 4869 points. The leaders in round 4 were:

• Courcelles scored a magnificent 4869 points, with 92 good articles on Olympics-related themes. Courcelles' bonus points alone exceeded the total score of any of the other contestants!
• Kees08 was second with 1155 points, including a high-scoring featured article for Neil Armstrong, two good topics and some Olympics-related good articles.
• Cas Liber, with 1066 points, was in third place this round, with two featured articles and a good article, all on natural history topics.
• Other contestants who qualified for the final round were Nova Crystallis, Iazyges, SounderBruce, Kosack and Ceranthor.

During round four, 6 featured articles and 164 good articles were promoted by WikiCup contestants, 13 articles were included in good topics and 143 good article reviews were performed. There were also 10 "in the news" contributions on the main page and 53 "did you knows". Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Reverting to not neutral text

The information on the Young Living page is not neutral. My edits are being rejected as not neutral, but the original text is not neutral and also repetitive. Young Living is in the Health and Wellness industry, please make the industry reflect that. Why is that sharing specific information about what the company does is not neutral? When I am researching companies, I would liek to know what they do, not just the lawsuits they have been involved in. To only include every negative aspect of the company is very biased and not helpful.

Except that you are removing sourced content. This can also violate WP:NPOV as bias the other direction to whitewash negative criticism. If you are certain this is undue criticism of the company, then what you need to do is discuss it on the article's talk page. @TheJoebro64: The source uses the term "Sonic Team" but makes it clear it's not the same Sonic Team. It's ridiculous, and quite frankly, if it becomes an issue I'll start a thread on the talk page to establish a consensus. I think all the work placed into Sonic Team makes this pretty clear by now how much the term "Sonic Team" has been thrown around without it actually being "Sonic Team" and that sources need to be filtered to determine accuracy at this point. Sega HQ pictures

See the images I uploaded here [1]. Four pictures are the new building and one is the sign in front of the old Ota office. It was really difficult to get a good shot of the building. And again, it's not a Sega exclusive building. It's a large complex shared by several companies. Sega just happens to be one of the larger companies there so they have their sign up front. There may have been a sign on the opposite side for another company, I can't remember. Out Run

In one of the Untold History of Japanese Game Developer books, there is some development history behind Out Run about how Yu Suzuki and I think Ishii went on a road trip in Europe. I have the books and can send you scans if you want.

Red Phoenix, I was wondering what you would like to do with these two. We could request a 2nd opinion, changing the status so that it makes it more likely that another reviewer will stop by. (The note field may attract someone, but the 2nd opinion is more likely to have an effect.) We could also just put one or both of them back into the pool of unreviewed nominations with no loss of seniority.

I also noticed that Indrian just opened another review of one of your nominations. If there isn't progress in the time proposed, I'm willing to arrange to have the (at that point, presumably unused) review page deleted and put the nomination back into the pool of articles needing review—indeed, we could do that with History of Sega since there is no review on that page.

@BlueMoonset: I'm all for a change of status to 2nd opinion. As for putting them back into the field and deleting the old review page, I would be fine with that for History of Sega, but the one for Sega definitely needs to stay since it does have feedback. As for the Out Run review, Indrian insists that it's a short article he can do for a change of pace. You did a minorly heroic job at Periscope (arcade game) by greatly fleshing out a husk, turning it from Start to B overnight. I wouldn't have known of the game's historical significance at all, without you prompting a notification on my watchlist. I am still a little confused about Sega's involvement. Is it correct that Namco totally invented the game as a 3-player huge model, and Sega only licensed and modified it to a size-reduced single-player less-huge model for export? And is Rosen a designer? It says "It has also been speculated that Namco may have licensed the game to Sega." so does that mean that Sega might not have licensed it but rather just ripped it off and copied it? lol. I don't know why Sega went with Periscope in particular, but I guess it was the most popular high-tech electromechanical game that couldn't be exported. Is it Namco who demonstrated it at the 1966 A.T.E. show? The only reception information the article has is about Sega, and then for the general design, but not for the original 3-player Japanese Namco version. The closest I see is the implication within "At the time, Periscope's large cabinet was cost-prohibitive for international export but its popularity prompted Sega to develop a smaller model." And Sega never made a 3-player version, just the one single-player version? I haven't read all of the sources, but these are somewhat confusing things to the reader. Also this removed the "release" variable from the infobox so I was wondering why that is. Thank you. — Smuckola(talk) 19:51, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Smuckola, I’ll try to answer your questions. I’ve done a thorough canvassing of the sources I can get my hands on for the moment, and here’s what I know:

• We don’t actually know much about Namco’s model at all. No reception, and barely any press, just the one media release in Cashbox and a few pictures of it floating around the Internet. Unfortunately we can only take Namco’s word on 1965, but video game companies in general did not keep quality records that reach the Internet like they do today, a problem I’ve encountered in other video game articles I’ve written. The Cashbox source is from 1967 and talks about it being a new game, but that could very well mean new to the English-speaking world, or for export - who knows, they weren’t terribly clear either.
• Related to that, no one’s really sure how Sega got the idea, if they stole or licensed it from Namco or what - there is only speculation that it “may be this” or “may be that”. Rosen has said he designed it, but two issues here: he doesn’t make any mention of Namco’s version ever, and I’m inclined to believe he may have come up with the concept but he’s not the “designer” like Nakamura would have been. I’m trying to find a translation of an interview from the book “Sega Arcade History”, but I’d say it’s more likely Sega’s designer of the game was Hisashi Suzuki (not to be confused with the one from Square Enix). Again, though, I don’t have a source for that yet.
• Sega’s version, not Namco’s, was on display in 1966 in the next Cashbox source. Sega’s version was also on exhibition in 1967 in France. It was a 3-player cabinet. The source understanding is that the single player version was made for export since the 3-player version usually had to be fitted into a space - a poster picture from the 3-player version notes the machine at over 13 feet long, so that would be very impractical to export.
• I removed the release years from the box because we don’t have sources, at least in Namco’s case, to say for certain when it was released. Calling it a Japan-only release may also be wrong since the 1967 Cashbox article talks about Nakamura being willing to export it. Although the sources certainly indicate how important the game was to Sega, it didn’t make sense to me to list one manufacturer and not the other in the infobox.
• I will review my prose for ambiguity to the reader tonight and ensure these small issues are addressed. I’m also finding more mentions, including period-based, and will incorporate those as well.

WikiCup 2019 May newsletter

The second round of the 2019 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to scored 32 points to advance into round 3. Our top four scorers in round 2 all scored over 400 points and were:

• Cas Liber (1210), our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three DYKs. He also made good use of the bonus points available, more than doubling his score by choosing appropriate articles to work on.
• Kosack (750), last year's runner up, with an FA, a GA, two FLs, and five DYKs.
• Adam Cuerden (480), a WikiCup veteran, with 16 featured pictures, mostly restorations.
• Zwerg Nase (461), a seasoned competitor, with a FA, a GA and an ITN item.

Other notable performances were put in by Barkeep49 with six GAs, Ceranthor, Lee Vilenski, and Canada Hky, each with seven GARs, and MPJ-DK with a seven item GT.

So far contestants have achieved nine featured articles between them and a splendid 80 good articles. Commendably, 227 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2019 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. The judges are pleased with the thorough GARs that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

Nice work on the Sega and History of Sega articles, which are now GAs. As for the development studios, the Sega development studios article and its own articles outside of Sonic Team may need to be extensively reworked for GA. Shall we join forces? @Sjones23: I have been thinking about that. I've looked at Sega development studios a lot and it really needs a good cleaning. If it's done right, it could basically serve as the list at the core of a Sega development studios featured topic someday. On studios of Sega, I did Sega Technical Institute and United Game Artists a short time ago, and they are GAs as well. I've been looking at doing Sega AM2 or Sega AM3/Hitmaker and Sega Rosso as a project here soon. As it stands, though, I do have some time limitations I have to overcome; I work a job with overtime every week and I have a family life at home, so what I can do is just as I have time. I've also got a couple of other things going - Sega to FA status and getting Sega Genesis on the Main Page in August for the console's 30th anniversary of its North American release are at the top of my list. That being said, I'm certainly down for collaborating on the subject, and I do make a point to at least check Wikipedia daily and answer talk page queries. Acutally, it's quite old news :P Sega Saturn & Game Gear has became FA, and Sega Channel & Sega Meganet has became GA in Chinese Wikipedia, all translated from English version by me. As the translator, I truly appreciate contribution done by you and the SEGA task force members.

Now I'm working on bringing all SEGA FA/GA articles to ZHWP. There is only me doing SEGA topic (zh:WP:SEGA) in ZHWP now ( which is sad:( ) , so the procedure may br really slow. But with the high quality average of the English articles, I'm quite positive about the future.

WikiCup 2019 July newsletter

The third round of the 2019 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round needed to score at least 68 points, which is substantially lower than last year's 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

• Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with 500 points derived mainly from a featured article and two GAs on natural history topics
• Adam Cuerden, with 480 points, a tally built on 16 featured pictures, the result of meticulous restoration work
• SounderBruce, a finalist in the last two years, with 306 points from a variety of submissions, mostly related to sport or the State of Washington
• Usernameunique, with 305 points derived from a featured article and two GAs on archaeology and related topics

Contestants managed 4 (5) featured articles, 4 featured lists, 18 featured pictures, 29 good articles, 50 DYK entries, 9 ITN entries, and 39 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and it is imperative to claim them in the correct round; one FA claim had to be rejected because it was incorrectly submitted (claimed in Round 3 when it qualified for Round 2), so be warned! When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

Various sources (Vincent Bugliosi, Jeffrey Toobin) have resulted in the consensus that reliable sources state that O.J. Simpson murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Lyle Goldman. The comments made by Bugliosi and others about the actual evidence are pertininent, and WP:NPOV requires that we present various sides of a story, if there are good sources. Hey, between you and me and the fencepost, I don't disagree with you. I've watched O.J.: Made in America. But that's handling it completely wrong; we can say some sources say OJ murdered them, but this contradicts the court case and there's never been anything definitive that's been provided since the evidence in the case otherwise. The way you're presenting it, though, is POV unless there is definitive proof and a universal consensus.

Hey, I appreciate the support you gave this article through the process. It'll be all right about the FAC - I predicted it might not get enough feedback at the start because it's a large article on a subject most people would call obscure (video games don't tend to draw non-video game reviewers well). Not the first time I've had a FAC burn out anyway, but I'll keep working at it, and I'm sure I'll still meet my goal of having it through in time to be featured on the main page on June 3, 2020. You could simply have looked at the history and restored the redirect that had been hijacked. It's usually a good idea to check history before trying to nominate anything for deletion as well-purposed pages can be hijacked into vanity or non-notable topics. Undoing or restoring is preferred. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it created as a redirect and hijacked at least twice? I'm well familiar with WP:BEFORE, and for a page with 18 views in the last 30 days, perhaps deleting it so it wouldn't be hijacked the same way again and the redirect recreated would be the best option. WikiCup 2019 September newsletter

The fourth round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 454 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants with over 400 points being eliminated, and all but two of the finalists having achieved an FA during the round. Casliber, our 2016 winner, was the highest point-scorer, followed by Enwebb and Lee Vilenski, who are both new to the competition. In fourth place was SounderBruce, a finalist last year. But all those points are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.

Round 4 saw the achievement of 11 featured articles. In addition, Adam Cuerden scored with 18 FPs, Lee Vilenski led the GA score with 8 GAs while Kosack performed 15 GA reviews. There were around 40 DYKs, 40 GARs and 31 GAs overall during round 4. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

This month's refresher course

Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.

Deletion tags

Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.

Paid editing

Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion

• Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
• Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.

Not English

• A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.

Tools

Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.

Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.

Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.

DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

New Page Review newsletter November 2019

Hello Red Phoenix,

This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.

Getting the queue to 0

There are now 819 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Tools

• It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
• It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.

Reviewer Feedback

Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.

Second set of eyes

• Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
• Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.

Arbitration Committee

The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.

Community Wish list

There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.
