A remedy for the status of your MoodMetre...[edit]

Kyoko has returned (obviously if she returned, she had to have left)! ;) There is an essay she wrote about her absence which explains most of it, plus a small tidbit left on my talk page. I know you have a thing for cheering people up (I've yet to see the good old Sharon hug fail), so as well as her request that I do this, it is also me doing this so you can work your magic. ;) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  18:06, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Thank-you card[edit]

You're welcome; I was pleased to offer my support. — Knowledge Seeker 21:11, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask why your talk page is semi-protected? Talk pages, in general, should not be, especially for administrators. — Knowledge Seeker 21:13, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This user seems to be mostly absent of late. The protection log shows that User:Sceptre protected it on 30 July. It seems to attract a high level of vandalism, although it also is on a fair number of watch lists. If you think this protection is inappropriate you could take it up at the Requests for Page Protection page. ++Lar: t/c 22:13, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Talk pages, especially that of an administrator, should rarely if ever be protected, and protection for two months is an absurd length of time. This is inappropriate. It doesn't seem to be listed on Wikipedia:List of protected pages either, so I removed the protection. — Knowledge Seeker 04:21, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Absurd seems rather a strong term. This administrator is not active (you didn't get answered by her, did you?) so I'm not really seeing the harm in having the page (semi) protected. I don't revert war but I think your just removing it without discussing it may not be the best approach. I'll be restoring it if there is any vandalism that isn't instantly reverted, and listing it in the appropriate place. ++Lar: t/c 05:45, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is absurd.SP isn't meant to pre-empt vandlaism; it's only to be used in extreme cases when there is so much vandalism that it becomes bothersome to revert and clutters up the history.I've had situations where I thought SP was warranted but the sysops disagreed.Obviously, SP is discouarged as much as possible and used only in extreme circiumstances. Hbdragon88 07:20, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The page is not semiprotected as of this writing. I'm not seeing a real issue to belabor this point but Phaedriel was the target of some particularly unsavoury and pernicious attacks. I'll repeat myself to be clear, if I see vandalism that the community isn't doing a good job of clearing, or if there are anon edit summaries that attack, as there were before, I'll semiprotect this page again, and take the heat for it myself (I wasn't the protector last time, but I will be this time). I will do so whether you think it absurd, inappropriate, or whatever term you choose, or not. ++Lar: t/c 14:52, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I could cheer you up[edit]

Hi Phaedriel, I saw that you were feeling melancholic, and I wish I could cheer you up. I'm not sure if we've ever actually corresponded (I did leave a get-well message one time under my prior nick "Tachikoma", and I also supported your RfA), but I do look up to you as a model of sweetness and kindness. I hope you feel better soon. --Kyoko 22:08, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your (Kyoko's) essay is very inspiring, thanks for sharing it with the rest of the community. ++Lar: t/c 22:13, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and very informative. Thank you very much! (Move to User talk:Tachikoma?) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  01:23, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you say that my essay was inspiring, then I guess so... Personally, it doesn't have that effect on me, but it's probably because I end up reliving all that's happened whenever I look at it.
At the risk of adding even more to Phaedriel's backlog, I really do hope she feels better soon. --Kyoko 14:15, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Any comment like that deserves to be added to the backlog. :) (Now of course, she could just move this entire page into an archive, but that may cause its own problem.) ;) — $PЯINGεrαgђ 15:35, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Portal needs new features![edit]

Hi Phaedriel, I just made Portal:Indigenous peoples of North America the "Portal of the Month" at Portal:Browse. Then I noticed its featured sections need to be updated for October! Could you find someone to do that? Rfrisbietalk 13:18, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as Phaedriel's on an extended wikibreak, it may be best to find a couple of willing and knowledgable members of WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America (I've heard that User:ish ishwar and Skookum1 are knowledgable on the subject, and I've had good experiences with User:Kevin Myers) and see if anyone there can help. I see you've put up a notice on the wikiProject's talk page, so that will hopefull get some people interested, but, unfortunatley, I doubt Phaedriel will be avaliable for awhile. Hope I've been of some help :) Thε Halo Θ 13:54, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'm going to just copy over the September pages to October and let the project know. Rfrisbietalk 14:06, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Glad I could help a bit ;) Seems like your solution is a good idea. Thε Halo Θ 14:14, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It turns out I couldn't find "September" subpages, so I picked some items from the applicable archives. I also put a note at the project. Rfrisbietalk 15:06, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot congratulate you enough, dear Sharon. If your child is anything like you, she will make a wonderful addition to the, oh, almost 7 billion people in this world? ;) Now, who do you think will give birth first, you or my wife? :P —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  02:43, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations/Félicitations![edit]

Congratulations on your pregnancy, and good luck! And just for fun, here's the same thing in French: Félicitations de ta grossesse, et bonne chance! (yes, the French word for pregnancy is "grossesse", and it has nothing to do with being gross, but rather the idea of growing larger, but I'm not going to dwell on such etymological matters here). --Kyoko 12:09, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, in German, groß or große means "big", so… <clamps hand over mouth> ;) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  02:37, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A bold move[edit]

It is rather a bold move to publicly announce that you're to be a mother, and one, were I in your shoes, I am not sure I would have made, but my hat is off to you for choosing to do so. I'm glad you did though, as it allows me to say publicly rather than privately: Heartiest congratulations and best wishes! ++Lar: t/c 14:42, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, congratulations!!![edit]

No wonder you haven't been very active recently!!!

That's great, though. You'll make such a wonderful mother.I had no idea you were married (or with a serious boyfriend, or what have you).

For some reason I get lots of new-mother gifts in the mail (don't ask me why), so if you ever want any forwarded or anything, just let me know - if you have a PO Box that is; I wouldn't be comfortable giving my address to a stranger!I have no use for them.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you're pregnant - I'm sure your little boy or girl (or both!) will be quite a blessing. :)

Hugs, Srose (talk) 15:55, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does this now mean we need Category:Pregnant Wikipedians? Congrats! – Chacor 16:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats Sharon![edit]

Now that you have a kid, how about a nice, comfy Ford Taurus to scoot him/her in?

Congrats on your pregnancy! Another Phaedriel will greatly be welcomed to the world! You will for sure make a great mother, and it is nice for you to be able to carry on your indian traditions. I will be here if you need me! :) Karrmann 19:12, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
