Hi Valentinian, good to see you back, sorry to see you're still experiencing the same kind of POV pushing that made you leave. I hope [1] this was a right action, I just presumed removing that was an accident. If not, please feel free to revert my edit. Regards, Finn Rindahl (talk) 22:26, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, that one was fine (and thanks for your other message as well. I'm busy IRL at the moment, and I never got around to answering it.) I just don't feel inclined to waste any more of my life on German nationalists and their Dane-bashing. But I guess these things will just never change, and this is one of the main reasons why Wikipedia will never evolve into anything that can be relied upon for any serious purpose, and why I don't belong on this project anymore. Valentinian T / C 22:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My experience: the trick is to engage with such people in the right moment. Don't do it just before Monday when you have to work IRL because then the problem editors interfere with other kinds of everyday stress.--Berig (talk) 04:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Slesvig" in the Great Danish Encyclopedia[edit]

In Danish wikipedia "(Hertugdømmet) Slesvig" and "Sønderjylland" are described as synonyms. Is it the same in the Great Danish Encyclopedia? Orphaned non-free media (Image:DK-Minoritetspartiet-logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DK-Minoritetspartiet-logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Milinkevich.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Milinkevich.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kjetil r (talk) 00:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Culture of Denmark[edit]

Valentinian, I see that some time back you tagged Culture of Denmark as part of the Danish project. In this connection, I wonder if you would like to take a look at the current version and see whether you agree with my feeling that it should now be class B. I would also appreciate it if you took a look at the article Art of Denmark on which I have now been working for a couple of weeks. Perhaps you would also like to tag it and give a preliminary assessment. Thanks.-Ipigott (talk) 15:49, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Foreign heraldry blazons[edit]

Oyez, oyez! Greetings and blessings upon all to whom these presents shall concern: the honor of your presence is humbly requested by WikiProject Heraldry and Vexillology, that your thoughts may enrich and enlighten our discussion of non-English blazonry at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology/Style guide for foreign blazons. The purpose of this discussion is to craft a guide to presenting blazons translated from foreign languages in a style that is clear and consistent. The fruits of this discussion will amend Wikipedia:Blazon as the portion of this guide dealing specifically with foreign-language blazons. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Valentinian! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 952 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

The article Elma Ross has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Nothing to indicate that this person meets the notability criteria for academics. In addition, notability is not inherited from great-grandparents.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. NW (Talk) 21:52, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Crown and coat of arms of Denmark[edit]

Thank you for taking such an interest in the artwork. I have edited all the modern coat of arms of the Danish Royal Family to leave only two tassels as you have pointed out to me. I must thank you for all the information you have provided for me, in fact I wished I had them earlier. I totally understand and appreciated the fact that you wished the user-created coat of arms to be as close to the original as possible, however as you can see from many of my work, I have not always been able to follow this ethos. What I do believe is that no matter how good a user-created work is, It can never replace an original, therefore I have never set out to out-do the original work or to replace it. What I do is to create a SVG version, which in accordance with the blazon is entirely correct and accurate as well as encyclopaedic: So that it serves its purpose here on Wikipedia to illustrate and illuminate (that is the best I can hope for really). Best Regards and Thank you. Sodacan (talk) 16:21, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Peter Munch has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:N, I can't find reliable, independent secondary coverage of the article subject on which to build an article. Certainly most of the article content is likely unsourceable. Two hits on Google News archives, both incidental. Mentions on web search are incidental, not independent, or Wikipedia mirrors as far as I can tell.

Hundreds of Denmark[edit]

Good morning, do you have some time for follow up on this category discussion? Marcocapelle (talk) 07:56, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I only edit Wikipedia extremely limited these days. The hundreds (herreder) are quite notable, since they - (along with the parishes which still exist) - formed Denmark's most continuous administrative division. Between 200 and 300 of them existed, and each were composed of a number of parishes. The Hundreds existed from the early medieval period (at least since the 1200s but very likely a few centuries earlier than that), and was a base component of the judicial divisions of Denmark until abolished by an administrative reform in 1970.
The Danish Wikipedia has more about them. Image:Administrative_division_of_denmark_in_medieval_times.jpg shows the hundreds (indicated with red borders). Of course, a few alterations to the divisions occurred during the 800 or so years, but all in all this medieval division was remarkably stable. Valentinian T / C 10:16, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

I expanded it with what I could (I needed it to be ok for my work with sockens on Gotland) but since my knowledge only extended to Sweden, I was rather hoping some editors with knowledge about the other countries could add to it later. Any help with this is of course much appreciated. Cheers, cart-Talk 19:49, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edits on Jammu and Kashmir[edit]

Not sure why under the guise of edit summary explaining other edits to Jammu and Kashmir you chose to remove the link to human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir and the File:Police in Kashmir confronting violent protestors December 2018.jpg. Please take note of the unexplained removals. --Tamravidhir (talk) 08:24, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on your talk page. I find your insinuations deeply offending. Valentinian T / C 11:04, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Denmark in World War II[edit]

I see you haven't been on wikipedia for a couple of years, but I was trying to read about Denmark in WW2 and came across your 2006 comments on the talk page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Denmark_in_World_War_II/Archive_1

The current article lacks a lot of the context and nuance, yet your comments 16 years ago were absolutely fascinating. Your writing style is irresistibly engaging and I felt like I was reading a renowned text on Danish history. I was born in the 80's in Northern Ireland and Denmark was never mentioned at any point during my history education. The many thousands of films and documentaries about WW2 only reference Denmark as part of a larger operation, almost as if the Danish people didn't exist during the war.

You clearly put a lot of effort into your comments that were only destined for a talk page that few would see, responding to short questions that didn't deserve such a fantastic response. I just wanted to thank you and let you realise that the effort put in 16 years ago is appreciated and still being enjoyed.

Wish you all the best.
