Lali Kandelaki

Thanks, I thought I saw refs on Lali Kandelaki, which is why I did patrol it. Though there are el's and some people do count them as refs while others don't. Wgolf (talk) 17:03, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

You left a note saying you had unreviewed this article. Any particular reason why? 16:37, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Information icon Hello OluwaCurtis. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3), or significance (CSD A7) moments after they are created, as you did at Dekemhare Comprehensive Secondary School. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks.. Three minutes is quite plainly an insufficient amount of time to allow a new user to complete work on an article. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by admins since 2006. Yes, I nominated "Ayo Sogunro" for deletion few months ago. It's re-creation will amount to a waste of time because it will be deleted with speed per G4. Oluwalatte, please Invest your energy on other notable topics and let me know how I can help. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 23:02, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Dear Oluwa Curtis please i don't know what is not neutral about these update, these are basic fact about these man, it simce you are not happy about his progress , May your children leave long . typical Nigerian full of envy and date — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joelthewriter1988 (talkcontribs) 16:18, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

RE

i am very curious about what you mean by not neutral. Every single assertion that has been made in the post is factual both about the child, about the mother and about Femi Fani Kayode. Each of the assertions about the birth of the child and the monther are backed by verifiable links and news paper reports. No opinion was offered, only facts. Yet despite that you not only removed my contrubution about his new son but you also removed his whole family column. This is not the standard we expect from wikipedia editors . Frankly you must have a personal hatred for this man and for some reason you do not want the fact that he now has a son recorded in wikipedia. Luckily the fact that you have the power to remove my contribution from femi fani kayode's wikipedia page does not mean you can remove it from other parts of the social media. Thankfully the fact that he now has a son is well recorded all over the social media and the internet .By the way if you are talking about neutrality why did you not edit the part where someone wrote that he insulted the ibos . there is no link or newspaper report backing the quote that was put there yet you left it. Is that what you call neutrality ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joelthewriter1988 (talkcontribs) 17:09, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Do not mark your edits as 'minor' when you tag articles

Hi OluwaCurtis,

I noticed that you are using AWB to tag articles. You mark these edits as minor, but they are not! (WP:ME states that edits that add or remove visible tags from a page should not be marked as minor.)

Many editors hide minor edits from their watchlist, and won't be able to notice when you tag articles on their watchlist. That defeats the purpose of tagging them for improvement.

Thank you,--Lemnaminor (talk) 17:07, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you Lemnaminor, I just started using AWB software. Will check on that. —OluwaCurtis »» (talk to me) 17:10, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Vandalism not good faith!

Do not tag vandalism reverts as made in good faith when they are clearly not. As here for example. --Keshetsven (talk) 01:42, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello Keshetsven, thanks for noticing. However I think vandalism reverts are generally summarized as AGF reverts and sometimes test edits when using STiki. Thank you! —OluwaCurtis »» (talk to me) 06:37, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

March 2017 WikiCup newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, last year's winner, led the field with two featured articles on birds and a total score of 674.
  • European Union Iry-Hor, a WikiCup newcomer, came next with a featured article, a good article and a tally of 282 bonus points for a score of 517. All these points came from the article Nyuserre Ini, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh,
  • Japan 1989, another WikiCup newcomer, was in joint third place at 240. 1989 has claimed points for two featured lists and one good article relating to anime and comedy series, all of which were awarded bonus points.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 shared third place with five good articles and thirteen good article reviews, mostly on naval vessels. He is also new to the competition.

The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.

So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! NeilN - and how does that help, threatening to block an editor because they reverted another edit after just one single warning. Wonder how many good editors we might have lost by attitudes like this. You leave less to be desired as an administrator. ʍaɦʋɛօtʍ (talk) 19:49, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
ʍaɦʋɛօtʍ, given your post at ANI urging the use of original research and ignoring WP:BLPCAT, you're hardly a good judge here. Oluwa2Chainz knew Eruditescholar was facing sanctions for this type of edit and did it (for the third time) anyways. --NeilN talk to me 20:01, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

fsxNet

Thank you for the feedback and tag applied to the page. The content is intended to add to the encyclopedic body of work related to known and/or and active Fido Technology Networks and I would welcome feedback and guidance to improve it. It is not intended to be an advertisement and was recently re-written after a previous deletion discussion with citations added etc. I have responded to the proposed speedy deletion tag as per the suggested protocol. With thanks Paul. Paul151 (talk) 02:30, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

HI there I can see the page was deleted and am really disappointed to see it was removed after trying to follow due process. It seems one person has deleted it and then restored it after noting the last contested deletion process only for another person to just delete it. My questions are did they follow due process? How can something be being discussed/progressed regarding a page deletion between us for it to only be acted upon by two further people? All this when I have yet to even read a reply from you. Thank you for your anticipated reply and assistance. Paul151 (talk) 03:24, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Paul151 You need to understand that whatever article you intend to write on must meet Wikipedia's notability guideline. Unfortunately, FsxNet doesn't meet the aforementioned policy, hence it's deletion. Regards --—Oluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 12:33, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Oluwa2ChainzOK thanks for the feedback. It looks like the key is to be able to point to independent content about fsxNet to demonstrate notability. I actually thought I had done that by citing discussions in Fidonet and in other developer networks that discussed fsxNet but it would seem they were not enough. I'll need to ponder some more. Cheer. Paul151 (talk) 01:33, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.

Our top scorers in round 1 were:

  • United States Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
  • Germany FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
  • India Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
  • United States Ceranthor, India Numerounovedant, Minnesota Carbrera, Netherlands Farang Rak Tham and Romania Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.
