Hi, Maroubrakid, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, bonjour, salut, privyet, konichiwa, shalom, hola, salve, sala'am, bonjourno, and hi! I'm Sputnik. I noticed that you were new and/or have yet to receive any messages so I just thought I'd pop in to say "hello". We're glad to have you in our community! I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it's so big but we won't bite so Be Bold and get what you know down in microchips! If you do make a mistake, that's fine, we'll assume good faith and just correct you: it'll take a few seconds maximum! I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. You are very welcome for the welcome... It is a great community. Even though my nickname is sputnik, I actually am not russian, and as you can see from my userboxes, I actually speak very little russian. In reality I'm from Toronto. But the great thing is that inside Wikipedia it all (for the most part) drops away. You may want to add yourself to some user categories; just add the tag at the bottom of the page with your username and square brackets around it; for example, putting [[Category:Wikipedians_in_New_South_Wales|User:Maroubrakid]] will add you to the category of Wikipedians who live in NSW, etc... You also might want to add your areas of expertise on your page, perhaps through catgories and/or userboxes, so similarly interested users will recognize you. Hope to see you around! You mean the yellow bar that comes across the top to tell you that you have messages? That's automatic; the wiki does that for you; it's activated as soon are there are changes to your talk page; I still can't figure out how it goes away after you look at it. Munich massacre notes[edit]

You asked "Can anyone fix the notes numbering to reflect actual notes in the article please?" on Munich massacre article. Well, answer is: I don't think so. The problem is that the same note is used in several places. So it turns out that Reeve's book should be note nr. 1, 4, 7, 10, 24, 27, 28, 30... understand what the problem is? --Dijxtra 09:00, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, you have a point, but. The thing is that (as I understand it) Wikipedia guidelines propose to get rid of inline links (they are OK while the article is rapidly changeing, but are to be put in notes section after article stabilises, but then again, I might have got it wrong). But, nothing stops you to put the same link to "External links" section... there it would stick out, as I'm sure you're right - nobody sane would go and click links in the notes section... --Dijxtra 20:56, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:National route.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi. When you uploaded Image:Pmckinn.jpg, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Invitation[edit]

There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on 23 November. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.

As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. Please sign up on the editathon project page if you can participate either online or in person with other Wikipedians. Hope to see you there!
