File source problem with File:(G)I-dle – Super Lady (promotional poster).jpg[edit]

@Paper9oll Hello, regarding "Super Lady," I've included a promotional graphic in the infobox. According to Template:Infobox song#cover, it's acceptable to use an image that isn't the cover, such as a concept image. However, I might have chosen the wrong template. Additionally, even if the image is used as a concept image, it could still be considered promotional, correct? Lililolol (talk) 23:20, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Lililolol First misconception, infobox's documentation does not overwrites the actual policies that is at WP:NFCC and WP:NFC. Second misconception, your wrong understanding of "promotional", this is neither a "album cover" or "promotional's promotional poster". Additional, I'm not sure why in the first place, you even decided that it's okay to upload here when it's pretty obvious that such types of images is unacceptable for Wikipedia usage, simply just search around, you would already have gotten the answer which should have been the case prior to uploading, which I doubt this was even the case to begin with, other than what is seemingly just reading the infobox's documentation without reading the NFCC/NFC policies. Lastly, I have been watching Wikipedia:Files for discussion for few years already, I have never ever seen any examples similar to this images getting not deleted with rationale similar to yours. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 00:51, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Paper9oll I admit I didn't take the time to review WP:NFCC and WP:NFC. After seeing similar images labeled as concept or promotional on other pages led me to think it was fine to upload mine. However, I now recognize that such types of images are not suitable for Wikipedia usage. Lililolol (talk) 21:20, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Artist songs categories already filed under genre categories[edit]

Hi, just to let you know there's no need to add songs to a genre category if the artist songs category is already under that specific genre category. For example, Category:Paramore songs is already under Category:American pop punk songs, so there is no need to add Category:American pop punk songs to any of Paramore's song articles. Thanks. Inaccurate edit summaries regarding article sourcing[edit]

Recently I've reverted two of your edits in which you indicated an article had a lack of sourcing in the edit summary, when in fact the articles in question already had 39 and 149 references respectively. As such, it's inappropriate to put an article-wide maintenance tag indicating a lack of sourcing, and frankly the edit summary is misleading. Please use section templates, or in-line templates, to indicate a lack of sourcing in a specific section of an otherwise well-sourced article. Please also take care to avoid over-citation -- not every statement requires an in-line source, only those likely to be challenged. Finally, please also take care when introducing translated content from other wikis. Machine-translated content is generally considered unacceptable, as are translations that introduce significant amounts of grammatical errors to an article. Thank you for your consideration. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 21:36, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Swatjester Hi, obviously, I didn't tag the entire article, only a section, which consists of lengthy paragraphs that needed to be sourced. Secondly, I didn't use machine translation for the article; I only used a grammar checker, which didn't indicate any grammatical errors. Like can you point out these significant grammatical errors? Lililolol (talk) 21:57, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously right? Except, no. You did actually tag the entire article. This was the wrong template --you used {{More sources needed}} not {{More sources needed section}}. And secondly, the reason I strongly suspect you did in fact use machine translation are the *easily caught* grammatical errors you introduced like: The Mossad also inclined Nablus to the war on terror, and under the tenure of Meir Dagan , it was attributed the killing of senior terrorist figures abroad, including the killing of Imad Morenia , the military commander of Hezbollah, and Mahmoud al-Mabhouh , a senior member of Hamas . A sentence rife with extraneous spaces, nonsensical phrases like "inclined Nablus to the war on terror", and grammatically inaccurate passive voicing typical of machine translations like "it was attributed the killing of...". Not to mention nearly every reference to Mossad in your insertion says "The Mossad", which is incorrect (it's just "Mossad") but typical of a machine-translation. Nearly every sentence inserted into the article has some degree of error, much of it around spacing and punctuation, that adversely affects readability. To be honest, I don't really care whether you translated it by hand or machine service -- the result was of poor quality and not suitable for inclusion in the English language Wikipedia. It's disappointing that instead of taking this feedback as helpful advice to improve your editing, your initial response was to deny having made these mistakes. In any event, please do better in the future. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 22:08, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Swatjester Sorry about that. I intended to tag the section, but I accidentally used the wrong template, as you've said. That was my mistake, so I'm sorry :)
Also, contrary to what you may think, I wanted to explain, not deny what I did. Anyway, I apologize if it seemed otherwise and I'm open to any feedback you have so I can improve. If you have more feedback, please share. Lililolol (talk) 23:45, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
