ISO 3166-2[edit]

Hi. Thank you for contributing. You appear to have created the pages ISO 3166-2:MA and ISO 3166-2:LY. I don't know if you've created others that are like it. Please allow me to point out to you that you are duplicating a lot of redundant information. The information that is not specific to ISO 3166-2:MA should go to ISO 3166-2 instead, rather than into each single one of the articles about each coutry code. I am not duplicating redundant information. I am making layouts for new pages, but as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:ISO_3166-2 concerns copyright of ISO 3166-2 codes, I have added no codes in new pages until the matter is clear, but I have added relevant newsletters so someone can follow the link. http://geotags.com/iso3166/ says that it reproduces ISO 3166-2 codes with permission, but some codes and names there are outdated. — Jusjih 00:22, 13 MAr 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}

OR

Option 2
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions to any [[U.S. state]], county, or city article as described below:

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" with "{{MultiLicensePD}}". I do not fully understand what you mean if I would be willing to multi-license all of my contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. What is multi licensing? As of now, I concentrate in Chinese Wikipedia where I am an administrator with much work to do. I have not logged in to English Wikipedia for very long time, so I have not replied until now. Wikipedia licenses articles using the GFDL license. I would like to use Wikipedia's articles using a different license, so I am asking people for permission to do so for their own contributions. This is accomplished by adding templates (such as "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}") to your user page which tells everyone that you give permission to do this. interwikiing note[edit]

Hi! I noticed you added a Chinese language interwiki link to the English article on French Polynesia. Unfortunately, these links do not fan out to all other language versions of the article, and must be added to each article individually. I realize this can be a pain, but I can almost guarantee that a Chinese laborer working on a farm in Israel who accesses the article and thinks it is only available in the languages listed on the Hebrew page would be very grateful to learn that a Chinese version of it exists as well.  :-) TShilo12 08:40, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

As I use Wikipedia in English, simple English, French, and Chinese only and I am an administrator in Chinese Wikipedia, I have no time to add interwiki in any other language versions. Traffic and the boycott[edit]

No, I don't. I've never read anything about traffic snarls, nor have I seen any evidence of it in the footage of the boycott over the years. Keep in mind that Montgomery was still a fairly sleepy southern city back in the 1950s. Traffic congestion wasn't that much of an issue. That doesn't mean there wasn't any impact on traffic patterns, but I deleted your language because it was vague and obviously purely speculative. Peace. deeceevoice 13:55, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

What is with your fixation with the freakin' traffic and whether or not I have a driver's license? Get over it! The speculation with regard to the motivations of white housewives picking up their black domestics is a matter of historical record. There is no way of legitimately knowing exactly how many were in sympathy with the boycott or just wanted their dirty drawzzz washed and meals cooked because they were too damned lazy to do it themselves. They were not polled, so it is impossible to know. However, finding out if there were traffic problems can fairly easily be ascertained. Read the historic record. If there were traffic snarls, presumably, they would be mentioned in reports of the period. There would be records on police blotters, reports in the press, ample documentary evidence in the footage shot of street scenes of people walking, empty buses passing, of private drivers. Speculation on something that can be verified or debunked with a little effort makes an article look sloppy and downright amateurish. If you're so wed to inserting language into the article about traffic patterns, then do your research. It's deleted. deeceevoice 28 June 2005 11:51 (UTC)

I understand that the comment "Some white housewives also drove their black domestic servants to work" is the subject of an edit war about the reason these whites drove their servant to work. I would suggest that this entire comment be deleted b/c there is a high chance this is merely an urban legend. I grew up in Montgomery and I repeatedly heard this statement presented as fact by white people who were embarrassed by their city's history and wanted to make it seem that the city's whites had not been so set against the boycott. Despite these statements, though, I never saw any documentation of this occuring. In addition, even if some whites did this, it was on a small, individual basis. In addition, for what it's worth, I doubt the boycott had any impact on traffic patterns in the city at the time. Montgomery was a small, "sleepy" city at that time. The city did not encounter traffic problems until the 1970s and 80s.--Alabamaboy 7 July 2005 13:35 (UTC)

Southeastern Europe and the Third World[edit]

Hi! I've noticed that you voted that the Southeastern European countries should be included as "maybe" on the Third World map, at Talk:Third_World/countries_vote. If you don't mind me asking, why should these countries be included as "maybe Third World"? Aside from Albania, Moldova and to an extent Bosnia and Herzegovina, Southeastern Europe is quite well off on a world scale. All countries except Moldova are middle-income in this region, and have middle-group HDIs (in fact, Bulgaria and Croatia have high-group HDIs). Also, they are very rarely referred to as Third World in common usage, instead being seen mostly as transition economies. Thanks, Ronline ✉ 07:23, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
