Vandalism and Obvious Bias on Edits Shown at Miss Universe 2018 by this contributor User:Jjj1238

This contributor's edits have been shown to lean on racial and ethnic discrimination, leaning on bias and stirring negative commentaries and opinions on the judging panel of the Miss Universe 2018 competition, and page. I have reverted his biased edits; thus, I have re-edited his biased description of judges for neutrality; the nationalities of the judges are irrelevant, rather, I have included more information on their advocacies, professional life, and charities. The nationalities - and race - of these judges have been blatantly used to sway the opinion of readers that the judging panel was non-objective in its decisions during the contest, an unfounded rumor without proof, evidence, or valid source reference, therefore rendering it unneutral.

If this contributor continues to edit with his subtle and blatant bias, I will be forced to tag her as a vandal and will be pushing for her total ban within Wikipedia and all its platforms.

  • @Migsmigss: I'm addressing this once before I move on. You cannot be serious with your claims. First off, there was absolutely no mention of race. Secondly, nationality is a DESCRIPTOR that is used throughout ALL of Wikipedia. Odd that you aren't against removing the references to Thailand and Namibia with Bui Simon and Michelle McLean, but only the mentions to being Filipino. Perhaps you are nervous people think Gray only won because the judging panel was half Filipino? Do not project, no one is thinking this, they are just further descriptors of the judges. I really don't care enough to continue to readd their nationalities, but you are overcomplicating the rest of the section. That is not the place to put every accomplishment the judges have achieved; that belongs on their individual articles if they have one. The only thing in the judges section should be each judge's name, and then their occupation. You are the only person who is seeing this as "biased", and in fact, your constant suppression of anything that could possibly show Catriona Gray in a less than 100% positive light proves that you are the one who is not editing with a neutral POV. I am not getting into this now, but your constant editing on Gray's article regarding her educational background is proving this, as you're trying to hide the fact she went to an online school, instead making it seem like she physically attended Berklee in Boston. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 01:16, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

This clearly shows his subtle bias, leaning towards stirring racial issues and other negative feedback. Again, the nationalities of the judges, and even my own nationality, is questioned by this contributor. Does my nationality as a contributor matter, or is it qualified and brought up by this contributor because his arguments are non-reasons? His edits are simplistic at best and racial slurs at worst, focusing only on the nationality and race of the judges at the Miss Universe 2018 page, while the descriptors I have put in place are backgrounders of the judges careers, professional history, and advocacies.

Again, Wikipedia should be a place for tolerance, not bias, not racial discrimination, not unfounded and mal-educated edits from a biased contributor.

This is this contributor's second strike. Will be pushing for her total ban, if she will re-edit with bias again. Thanks.

Copyrighted images of Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters

Twice now you have added images to Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters that are copyright violations [1][2]. Copyright might not be your thing, and I understand that. However, I would encourage you to be more careful in adding images. You've been here four years with 18k edits. You know a thing or two here. A casual check of these images has shown they are blatant copyright violations. A little more care is all I'm asking. Ms. Nel-Peters hails from the Western Cape and is visibly Coloured, with an article describing her as such. You have suspiciously edited her page numerous time in attempt to Afrikanise her obvious mixed ancestry. Stop. Please do not accuse me of something. When editing Wikipedia you need to cite reliable sources. You randomly added that she was Cape Coloured without any evidence, so obviously I removed that. Well here's also the thing with Wikipedia. We can't write information based off of our own experiences. This is called original research. Everything we write has to be cited with sources. Originally your claim had no sources to back it up, which is why I reverted it. "Reverting obvious vandalism—edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitute vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive language".   • PageantUpdater, Jjj1238 left at least a number of explanatory edit summaries, and I am satisfied with them: there is no chance they'd get blocked for that. Having said that, more explanation is always better. Speaking of which, Jjj, you really need to address that signature of yours.

    Now, this is a longtime problem; Golf-ben10 seems to know about it too, as does Frietjes--Frietjes, did this not come up on ANI recently, this "The Face" BS? The article about H'Hen Niê was deleted before the AfD was completed or closed. It is very fishy. That the article was created by a sock is not a reason for deletion unless the article is deemed to be nonsense etc. the consensus was not even close to Delete. I've noticed that a lot of beauty pageant titleholder articles get deleted because they were created by socks, even though they are fully functional articles that belong on Wikipedia. Both of these articles fall under WikiProject Eurovision, and a rule of the project is that the EBU is the supreme source if some of our sources contradict. The EBU refers to Terzi as "Gianna" and the song as "Oneiro mou" (source). So no, these shall not be changed unless the EBU changes their spelling. Remember that the EBU doesn't simply make this information up on their own, they're in direct contact with the Greek delegation so this is how the Greek broadcaster is also spelling it. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 18:21, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Before you lay claim to someone's national birthplace make sure you check all of the famous ex yougoslavian enclaves and read some of the history that is in wikipedia atleast!,After not being on par with many albanian/kosovans reviews i made sure i fixed it to be on par with most of other ex-yougoslavian born people. Take for example Luka modric,perisic,melania trump,and many other famous people that were born in yougoslaiva before you actually lay claim to what's right and what's not do some actual reading behind the biography,her certificate and other national deciding documents. Thank you for your time , aslong as it is on par with being Kosovo as well as Yougoslavia so not even serbians or neither nationalists can lay claim on her nationality just after she became famous. @Armeendb: I am very pro-Kosovo but that has nothing to do with anything here. You had no consensus to change the birthplace, yet you did so without anyone supporting your decision. Clearly there was backlash regarding it, and it was reverted. This follows Wikipedia's bold, revert, discuss cycle. You were bold by changing the birthplace, I reverted it, and since it was reverted you have to discuss why you think it should be that way on the talk page, in order to gain consensus. Miss France 2018

but they are included on the other pages wikipedia "Miss France 2017, 2016, 2015 ..." So why not on this page? These are official titles after all, the Miss France organization officially designated Maëva and Eva as Miss World France and Miss Universe France. The Miss France 2018 article is specifically for the pageant, not for anything else. Anything regarding Coucke or Colas's extra titles besides Miss France 2018 and 1st Runner-Up should be detailed on their subsequent articles, or given a sentence in the Miss France 2018 article. The results box is exclusively for titles awarded at the pageant. Also if other articles are including this then they should be removed as well. When you see a name missing a space, but everywhere else it is mentioned (on the same article as well), it has a space, it's typically safe to assume it's a typo. I disagree with you there, the difference is that with other articles we don't have many (if any) photos of the contestants - especially of the contestants during the pageant activities. They're relevant and they should be included with the article. Slovakia/Slovak Republic

Hi, my name is Michael and I come in peace! Like you, I am very thorough in my research when it comes to the Miss Universe pageant. It is my hope that we will be able to work closely with one another going forward. It is not my intention to get into an edit war over the name, but if you refer to past pageants, Slovakia has always been known as Slovak Republic. This is how pageant officials differentiate the country from the Czech Republic. Wikipedia Commonname does not apply when it comes to the pageant pages. I am something of a perfectionist when it comes to these kinds of details, which I'm sure you can understand. The country of Slovakia has competed under the sash name "Slovak Republic" since their debut back in 1993 at Miss Universe. South Korea competes under the sash name "Korea" since a long time ago. Those policies are just in place for reference doesn't mean that it has to be followed. We are not putting "Slovak Republic" nor "Korea" just because we feel like, they've always competed under "Slovak Republic" and "Korea".

Same with the United States of America in Miss World. With Miss World they've always competed under the sash name "United States" which is why that's how its written for the past 52 years on the yearly Miss World articles. Their website isn't even there anymore and there's been no word from other sites. How long do you usually wait before you delete the country from the list? Something tells me that they have dropped out of Miss Universe again, making this the second year in a row they haven't participated. That will bring the count down to 94 countries. @Rahu22: Personally, I don't typically deal with adding contestants to the Miss Universe page, unless it is a pageant that has their own article and I was updating the results live (such as Miss USA, Miss France, or Miss Russia). Due to this, I am unsure whether or not to remove Sierra Leone from the list. My best advice would be to leave them on the list and try waiting to see if any information comes out later. Sometimes countries (especially less developed countries) are more off-the-grid when it comes to pageantry, and it may take awhile to actually find their results. Hi, you will be happy to hear that the Miss Universe Organization has changed the name of Slovak Republic to Slovakia. You will see this on their official website under Contestants. I have a feeling this is because Slovenia isn't participating this year. The two country names are very similar, so they probably wanted to avoid any confusion in the past. The editor's intentions are clearly to degrade or put down the person. He keeps on reverting my edit, back to his bais content. Kindly request you to look into this matter. So, what's the reasoning for the order in the "Contestants" table? It's not alphabetical and it's not chronological. It doesn't seem to make sense to put the ones that haven't yet performed above those that have. -Musdan77 (talk) 01:46, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

What? It is alphabetical and chronological. Are you reading it upside down? It's alphabetical from top-to-bottom, and then they're moved to the bottom when they're eliminated. This is how the tables work. First eliminated ---> bottom, second eliminated ---> second bottom, third eliminated ---> third bottom, etc. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 01:48, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
According to what? A table can't be in more than one order. That would be no order at all. It either goes by the name column (alphabetically) or the episodes (chronologically), but since the episode section is chronological, this table doesn't need to be. --and we could make it sortable.
