Hurricane Cindy surface analysis

Great! Could you just trim out Cuba (on the bottom) but make sure not to cut out Florida? And also, can you trim a bit out at the top starting from the southeastern tip of Pennsylvania? Thanks! HurricaneFan25 | talk 21:01, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Done - I've edited it so that it still includes the north end of the Chesapeake Bay (like you said originally). If you want it trimmed more, just let me know. Inks.LWC (talk) 21:07, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Also, can you trim the "Wednesday, July 8..." thing from the right column? And get rid of those longitude numbers on the right too. Thanks! HurricaneFan25 | talk 21:09, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Do you want the labels for the lines of latitude left in or taken out?
Left in. HurricaneFan25 | talk 21:11, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
I just want to make sure I get it right - do you want them taken out (as you said 3 lines up), or left in (as you said one line up)? Inks.LWC (talk) 21:12, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Removed, I got confused, my bad. HurricaneFan25 | talk
Thanks! HurricaneFan25 | talk 21:17, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
No problem, and in the future, if you need any more images uploaded, let me know--I have no problem doing it. Inks.LWC (talk) 21:19, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Eh, not to bug you, but could you do the same for July 7? Cut off at the top starting from the southeastern corner of Pennsylvania, and cut out Cuba but not the Florida Keys, and get rid of the latitude markers and the stuff on the right. Thanks! HurricaneFan25 | talk 19:00, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Done! [1] Inks.LWC (talk) 19:30, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks :) HurricaneFan25 | talk 19:34, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Would it be possible if you could get one each for October 17 and 18 in 1959? Specifically, try to get the eastern portion of the Gulf Coast and Florida. Thanks :) HurricaneFan25 21:16, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
How's this: [2] and [3] ? Inks.LWC (talk) 07:41, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:50, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 4

Hi. When you recently edited List of North American tornadoes and tornado outbreaks, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Central Plains and Mid-South (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Redirecting

Hello, In response to your message, most Midsomer Murders episodes aside from the ones that are based on the books by Caroline Graham are not meriting of their own article because a general description is already given in the "List of Midsomer Murders episodes" article. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.16.88 (talk) 00:16, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Is there a guideline somewhere that says it doesn't merit its own article? The article, while largely unsourced, contained much more information than simply the list page. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:11, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Cyclone Fay

The article Cyclone Fay you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Cyclone Fay for things which need to be addressed. Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 13:30, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

AutoWikiBroswer

Just a notice: Today we uploaded a new AutoWikiBroswer version which corrects a lot of exceptions and other annoying stuff. I suggest you download it from: http://toolserver.org/~awb/snapshots/ I really encourage the use the latest version of awb availale. It helps the developers spot and fix more bugs. -- Magioladitis (talk) 05:04, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Declined speedy

I declined your speedy deletion request of Philippe Bruggisser because the A2 criterion is specifically for articles on other language wikis that have been copied without translation into English. The article in question is, of course, in English. LadyofShalott 23:00, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

My mistake. It was a copy-and-paste of the Google translation for the German page. Is there an appropriate tag for that or should it just be tagged for clean-up? Inks.LWC (talk) 23:50, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes, you can use {{Rough translation|language}} for that. Cheers, LadyofShalott 17:35, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Deletion discussions

There are currently two ongoing deletion discussions here and here. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. United States Man (talk) 06:35, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Dude, whatup?

The droughtbox wasn't a test page. It just had a code error I couldn't find. If that error had been fixed, it would have been fully operational immediately. Not to mention I spent approximately 2 hours on that formatting that box. I asked for legit help and you call the box a TEST PAGE???  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 09:27, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

It wasn't functional, it had a poor title (something like "Infobox US droughts" would've been better. It had no documentation on how to use the template. And the field "years" is very vague. combine those 4 issues with the fact that you didn't try to get any consensus or develop the template before launching it into the main Template space, and yes, it was a test page. Stuff that's not functional shouldn't be in the Template namespace. Inks.LWC (talk) 13:05, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

I never recieved the message. I'll check it out now.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 01:50, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Where is it?  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 01:51, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
It's at User:Inks.LWC/Template:Sandbox. I posted the link on your User talk back on August 6. Inks.LWC (talk) 03:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
I never saw it back then. Well, anyway, the only issue I see left with the box is that for some reason the color coding to make the header at the top color-change as the hurricane box does from one intensity to the next isn't working, and the static color coding for the peak coverages of each category down lower aren't working either. With fixes to that code, the box should theoretically be fully operational, just needing documentation and usage conventions.  --Bowser the Storm Tracker  Chat Me Up 03:31, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Well unfortunately I started law school today, so my free time to help out on Wikipedia is severely diminished. But feel free to play around with it on my Sandbox. Inks.LWC (talk) 04:27, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of METRIC

I really do not understand. The METRIC article was created a long time ago, in 2009. The article which was quoted as source was published in 2012. I indicated that in the talk page of the article. However the article was deleted for copyright infringement. I really do not remember from where I got the information and even that I posted the article and do not care if it is deleted or not. But I do not understand the logic on how an article posted in Wikipedia three years before the claimed source was published can be a copyright infringement which justifies the deletion. Would it not be a prerequisite that the source be published before the article in Wikipedia? Afil (talk) 06:06, 22 September 2012 (UTC)06:03, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

It was a direct quote from the poster on that website. The website may have been made after the Wikipedia page, but the poster was made before. Inks.LWC (talk) 06:24, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Hurricane Satellite Images

I saw that you recently updated satellite images for Hurricane Nadine (2012). I tried to follow the URL of the image, but it doesn't ever seem to load. I am using Safari on a Mac. Does this page usually take a long time to load – should I just try to be patient? Or are there some browser incompatibilities? –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 06:25, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Just a second... I think it might be working now. –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 06:27, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
It's working now, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't working earlier today – maybe it's the server. –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 06:28, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Re: fair use

I believe it would, since the website says it's for non-commercial use only. Seeing as Wikipedia applies to that, and since I assume you'd use it for the article on waterspout#snowspout, I think it might apply. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 00:41, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Re: Timeline of the 2002 Pacific hurricane season

Well...that's the plan. I'm not exactly new at this, you know. I promoted 2002, 2008, and 2011 for FL status. The one I'm working on now should be completely done by tomorrow night. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 11:36, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Your end result isn't the problem. It's your means of getting there. What is the point of deleting accurate, sourced information only to temporarily replace it with unsourced material? Why not do all of this in your sandbox? Inks.LWC (talk) 18:21, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Empty sections

Rather than add clutter like {{empty section}} tags, as you did to Battle of Petitcodiac, you could instead remove the empty section; it's not like anyone will miss it, or can re-add it if they have something relevant. Alternatively, you could spend some time looking for content to add. Thanks. Magic♪piano 21:56, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

I usually don't add {{empty section}} tags, especially for See also sections. I'm not sure how I missed that one. Thank you for bringing it to my attention - I've removed the whole section. Inks.LWC (talk) 22:00, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

hats

Hi I am glad someone hatted some of the H Sandy talk threads.... FYI last time I looked at the hat template it said it was for admin use only and unless I missed it on your user page you are not one. I am not complaining just passing on that info in case you did not know (and hoping you do not get slammed since these tags were needed and I am happy you did it) NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 05:10, 5 November 2012 (UTC) It must be time to go to bed. After I wrote you I asked myself why I had not taken a refresh look and it says uninvolved editors which sort of sounds like you. Never mind. Thanks for hatting. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 05:12, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

For stuff like AfDs, etc. you usually have to be an admin. And the regular {{Discussion top}} tag didn't work, since I didn't want people starting a new section to discuss climate change, so I started a new template: {{Discussion centralize top}} to be used when a centralized section has been started to discuss a particular issue. Inks.LWC (talk) 19:16, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
That is a handy tag assuming people want to cooperate. I have seen instances where it seems discussion (mis)organization has been used as a battleground tactic. But a good idea I will have to keep this tool in mind. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 19:22, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

A cup of tea for you!

Thanks for the grammer correction in Athena. Also, I'm sorry if I have seemed a bit attacky or escalaty in my previous comments. Not trying to :) gwickwire | Leave a message 22:28, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
No problem... I know you're trying to help the project. I just feel strongly that going down this path is a really bad precedent to set. :) Inks.LWC (talk) 22:29, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
I totally understand. I live in Texas, so I don't have as much experience with nor'easters as others probably do. I just feel like Athena is more used than any one other descriptive name (such as "November 2011 nor'easter" etc.), so we should use it. But one thing I just realized, the article up for deletion is the "season" article, which Wikipedia already has a few of... I think we got a bit off topic (probably my fault). Sorry again :) gwickwire | Leave a message 22:34, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Re:Non-trop storms

Hi. In short, I believe we should assess individual storms based on their notability and only write an article if it has caused significant damages and/or loss of life and human properties, broken records for temperature/pressure/timing, etc. Compare Lake Storm "Aphid" (2006), Cyclone Klaus (2009, Europe) and October 2011 North American Winter Storm (no, not that one, I mean the one that struck last year in October near Minnesota and caused an all-time low pressure record over Lake Superior), for just a few examples of notable winter storms prior to TWC's media-based naming began - we also used to have comprehensive articles for each winter season since 2006 and their associated storms around the world, before the tornado integration controversy caused most of the pages to fall into virtual disrepair. "Athena" was notable in that it struck right after Hurricane Sandy and prolonged the power outage that in some locations has been ongoing since Sandy hit. Thanks and regards, ~AH1 (discuss!) 03:56, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
