Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 20:21, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May 2023[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at National Hockey League. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. As of just now, you've made SIX edits attempting to vacate the Hawks' captaincy before Chicago's actually done so itself. You have not sought consensus for this change, nor have attempted to discuss this on the article's talk page. Any further edit warring on your part -- as opposed to seeking consensus -- will escalate matters. Ravenswing 10:10, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is my first time using this feature so not sure if this is correct. The Blackhawks season is over. The Blackhawks have stated their intention not to re-sign Jonathan Toews. Therefore, with no active season and Toews not a part of the organization any longer, the captaincy is effectively vacant. He does not need to be formally stripped of his captaincy for this to be the case. Hawksfan7358 (talk) 01:58, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The NHL season is not over, and Toews remains under contract to Chicago until it is. As such, he is still a part of the organization, and we don't pay attention to "effectively" here -- we pay attention to "officially." Toews has not been officially stripped of the captaincy. Done deal. Beyond that, for any contested edit, you are required to seek consensus on the appropriate talk page before making further attempts to change it, and you can be blocked for any such attempts before such a discussion. Ravenswing 02:23, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever you say. Hardly a hill to die on but, again, he does not need to be stripped of the captaincy. The Blackhawks season IS over. He is no longer a Blackhawk and, therefore, no longer the captain. But if it makes you so happy to see his name still listed for a position he no longer has, so be it. Hawksfan7358 (talk) 02:32, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we're not going to overturn standard Wikipedia practice because still seeing Toews' name in that article makes you so unhappy, and that seems to have been the hill you were willing to die on, after all. Ravenswing 04:23, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on National Hockey League. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Deadman137 (talk) 21:13, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

January 2024[edit]

Please stop adding unofficial information. A signing or transaction should not be added to Wikipedia unless it is officially confirmed by a team - not a reporter or insider, regardless of their reputation. See WP:XBALL and WP:NOTNEWS for more information. Thanks. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  01:18, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Have you not read the pages for both Thomas Brown and Chad Morton on this very site? Both cite their current jobs as coaches for the Chicago Bears. Hawksfan7358 (talk) 01:21, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should not rely on other Wikipedia articles as a reliable source. If you read the Corey Perry had an affair with Connor Bedard's mom on Wikipedia, would you believe it? Please read Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports/Handling sports transactions. The signing is not official until the Bears confirm it - Wikipedia, A reporter, Reddit or another news outlet are not an official source when it comes to this. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  01:29, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are comparing calling Thomas Brown the Bears Passing Game Coordinator, which he is and there are multiple sources to back it up, to someone inventing a story about Corey Perry sleeping with Connor Bedard's mom?? Are you serious? Hawksfan7358 (talk) 03:36, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It seems you are unfamiliar with sarcasm. :) On a serious note, I'm not saying the News about Brown is fake. Rather, we don't update articles/templates until the team officially confirms it - read over Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports/Handling sports transactions, which explains this process carefully and gives examples. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  04:23, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting that the coaching page for the Bears has now been updated by someone else putting in Chad Morton and Chris Beatty even though there's still no official announcement from the Bears but yet it hasn't been taken down. Apparently accurately updating the Bears coaching staff is OK to do as long as I'm not the one doing it. Hawksfan7358 (talk) 13:37, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
