2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs TV Schedule[edit]

So I was on the NHL Website and I found out that TruTV will be simulcasting both Game 1s this Saturday. However, I actually cannot edit the page as it is semi-protected, so if you can add them before Saturday, that would be great. Also, because of Islanders–Hurricanes (Assuming if it will be the whole series) being aired on CBC, it looks like we might be getting five series altogether on CBC in the First Round. If that is the case, then here is what the commentator structure would look like:

Maple Leafs–Bruins: Chris Cuthbert, Craig Simpson, Kyle Bukauskas

Islanders–Hurricanes: John Bartlett, Garry Galley, Sean Reynolds

Avalanche–Jets: Rick Ball, Greg Millen, Caroline Cameron

Predators–Canucks: John Shorthouse, Dave Tomlinson, Dan Murphy

Golden Knights/Kings–Oilers: Harnarayan Singh, Louie DeBrusk, Scott Oake

That would be two series in the east and three series in the west, which means CBC might have to do a triple header on alternating days, which means either ESPN on TNT will also have to do a triple header on alternating days in the USA (subject to change). That's all I have for now. I'll let you know if anything else comes up. Hopes this helps. 2601:647:4300:2D0:202D:EC63:426A:D873 (talk) 04:15, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

All the broadcast information should be up by tomorrow night or Friday morning as we'll probably get two schedules based on where LA and Vegas finish sometime tomorrow. As far as what is happening with CBC and how they will handle three western Canadian teams in the playoffs I have no idea. I will assume that Toronto will likely have all of their games on CBC because that's what normally happens.
I don't usually handle the broadcasting section outside of proofreading it, but what you listed for the broadcasting groups seems probable with the other series being simulcast in Canada. On the American end I'm not sure which series they'll cover or simulcast. Deadman137 (talk) 04:37, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Was your revert of my edit a mistake or am I missing something? Looks like you just added the link back in your edit after the revert. Next time just try to be more careful, thanks. Philipnelson99 (talk) 03:47, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There was no mistake. I can appreciate that you're trying to help though the last thing that I need is someone slowing me down no matter how well intentioned they are. Deadman137 (talk) 05:45, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How does a legitimate edit "slow you down"? that's not a valid reason for reverting an edit and in fact is the opposite of assuming good faith... Honestly, that kind of behavior is extremely close to WP:OWN. @The Kip was there something wrong with my edit? I know you edit in this space too. Philipnelson99 (talk) 12:05, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And honestly, I'm very confused as to how undoing my edit and adding the same link in your next edit is necessary. The link was live at the time I added it, and I made sure this was the case. Philipnelson99 (talk) 12:10, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, this concerns me even more now that I've seen User_talk:Deadman137/Archive_2#Unexplained reversion. If you think a change is unhelpful, that doesn't give you license to revert without explanation. Edit conflicts are not disruptive. Philipnelson99 (talk) 12:54, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had to undo your edit because the address that you put in creates an error in the web address supplied by the recap feature. The fact that you are not able to see the difference between the two edits is concerning to me as there is a distinct difference between them. No matter what I did I was going to have to fix your error, I just chose a time effective way to do it and then you went off the deep end. Deadman137 (talk) 19:58, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Deadman137 from now on, you should always give a reason when reverting another editor. I see I made a mistake in using the template, but to revert without explanation is unnecessary and unproductive. I'm not going off the deep end, I was reverted, and an explanation would have been the appropriate thing instead of saying my edit got in the way. Philipnelson99 (talk) 20:04, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please make sure grammar is correct. Khoa41860 (talk) 14:42, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

undo on 2024 playoffs[edit]

hey saw you undid my edit on the 2024 playoff page. makes sense it's a bit trivial in the intro section, should we remove the Pennsylvania statistic too? i'll just move my bit over to the first round section instead! Wolvescantread (talk) 03:54, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It will still get removed because it's just a coincidence, nothing more. Deadman137 (talk) 03:56, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hm i guess so. then the pennsylvania team thingy should get removed too? Wolvescantread (talk) 04:00, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome to ask Phoenix-Five why they made the edit. Though something happening for the third time in 57 years is more historically relevant. Ultimately you had one bad idea, move on from this one and if you come up with something better in the future then bring it forward. The bar for trivia in the main section is always going to be high. Canucks–Oilers Game 6 on ABC/ESPN+[edit]

So the Hurricanes beat the Rangers in Game 4 and we know that Game 5 will be on Monday on ESPN as the Rangers will look to get a gentleman's sweep (4–1 series win) and advance to the ECF. However, the league announced that a potential Game 6 will be on Thursday on TNT/TruTV/Max. If the Rangers do not win either one of those two games, then Game 7 will likely be aired on ABC/ESPN+ next Saturday. However, if the Rangers do win either Game 5 or Game 6, then ABC/ESPN+ will air Canucks–Oilers a potential Game 6 next Saturday, which is an all-Canadian matchup that can hurt both the ratings and the viewership. Please note that the playoffs so far have been averaging 1.03 million viewers across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, and TruTV, which is up 7% from last season according to Sports Media Watch and an all-Canadian matchup on ABC/ESPN+ could in theory bring the average viewership down. I have some other things to bring up about what would happen if does tend to become the case, but I might have to bring that up another time. Anyways, thanks. NHL Saturday Night[edit]

So the league has announced that a potential Game 7 between the Hurricanes and the Rangers will be aired at 8 pm et on ABC/ESPN+ if the Hurricanes win (Currently leading 3–2). If the Hurricanes hold on to the lead, then Canucks–Oilers Game 6 will likely be aired at 5 pm et on ESPN, but CBC will not air it in Canada in lieu of the Olympic & Paralympic Swimming Trials in Toronto. However, if the Rangers can make a comeback, then Canucks–Oilers Game 6 will be aired at 8 pm et on ABC/ESPN+ and CBC will be able to air it in Canada. Anyways, thanks. Revert on 2024 NHL Draft Lottery[edit]

I saw you reverted my deletion of the statement that the Blackhawaks are not eligible to win the draft lottery anymore until 2028 but I thought it stated in the NHL rules that it does not include situations where teams retain their draft position (Blackhawks finished with 2nd best odds and won 2nd lottery) or even move down (team with best odds wins 2nd lottery). 69.116.123.16 (talk) 03:31, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Watch the video that's attached to the subject. They won the second lottery if they didn't and still picked second, the results of the lottery would've been very different. Deadman137 (talk) 03:34, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see but the rules state teams are allowed to retain their draft position with no penalty based on this article: https://records.nhl.com/draft/draft-lottery?view=draft-lottery-formats. “No single team can advance in the draft order by reason of winning a Lottery Draw more than two times in any five-year period. This limitation will not affect a club’s ability to retain its presumptive draft position in any Draft Lottery, nor would it preclude the possibility of the club moving down in draft order to the extent other clubs advance by reason of winning the Lottery Draws.” 69.116.123.16 (talk) 03:42, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Presumptive – believed to be something, or likely to be true, based on the information that you have. Before the lottery San Jose was the presumptive winner of the lottery.
Did you check the link embedded in the link that you provided? In order for the draft order to remain unchanged both San Jose and Chicago had to win the two lotteries that took place. If neither of them won they'd most likely be picking third and fourth. The statement that you're referring to means that Chicago or San Jose could have retained the first or second pick without winning the lottery (teams 12-16 win first lottery, San Jose keeps first pick, teams 13-16 win second lottery, Chicago keeps second pick). Chicago can still pick first or second in any of the next three drafts they just need one of the previously listed scenarios to happen and they have to finish 31st or 32nd overall. Deadman137 (talk) 04:11, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you’re saying, it’s probably buried somewhere in the rules in regards to this scenario. I guess we will just have to wait a year (assuming Chicago misses the playoffs) to see where the league stands on this. 69.116.123.16 (talk) 04:21, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
