Nice work!

Good evening: great job on wikifying the Rachel Carson NWR article! That was quite a task. I had planned on taking a crack at it at some point, but I always get sidetracked with other projects. Well done! –BMRR (talk) 00:55, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Wikification drive

Hi Gobonobo, just wanted to say good luck during the "competition"! Maybe between the two of us we will get rid of the backlog completely. Well, that's a stretch, but we are certainly making a dent! Great job with all your work, my friend. --Fang Aili talk 22:42, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi Fang Aili. Right back atcha. It feels good to get rid of some of that backlog, especially when it's not one of those articles where it feels like you're putting lipstick on a pig. I've been particularly enjoying CatScan for that reason. Good luck in the drive to you as well and thanks for dropping the note. Yours in Sisyphus, Gobonobo T C 23:15, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Heya.. so do you also feel like a tremendous wikinerd? :) --Fang Aili talk 04:18, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Absolutely. Proud of it too. Putting wikilinks in is an art. Well, hopefully it will enhance some reader's experience at some point anyways. You do get to unearth some interesting articles though. I liked Psittacism, Gua (chimpanzee) and of course Society for Preventing Parents from Naming Their Children Jennifer. Did you come across anything interesting? Gobonobo T C 05:18, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Those pages are excellent. I came across a place called Unalaska, which is, interestingly, in Alaska. I found that via Sitka Spruce Plantation, where some Russians decided to plant trees on a treeless island. Whirly tube was fun. --Fang Aili talk 05:38, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Wow, Bloogle Resonator. That page could really use a sound file. Gobonobo T C 09:38, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm out for the night. See you on the flip side. --Fang Aili talk 10:34, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Minnie Pearl.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Minnie Pearl.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:06, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Emperor of Exmoor.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 01:24, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Could you provide a clarification as to why a nude image is needed, when a clothed image of the artist concerned would have served the stated purpose just as effectively? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:15, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

I was unable to find any free images of Mark Morrisroe. I felt that this self-portrait was representative of Morrisroe's style. I did consider that the image might be a tad risqué, but thought that cropping it would misrepresent the artist's intent. I'm not really attached to that particular photo being in that article, so feel free to swap it out if you'd like. Gobonobo T C 11:35, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Green Boots

Gobonobo, I am assisting in the development of the Wikipedia article about people who have died on the eight-thousanders. I was hoping that I could obtain your permission to utilise the image Green Boots.jpg in that article. Bezza84 (talk) 01:57, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Bezza84. Unfortunately, I am not the owner of that image, so I wouldn't be able to give you permission to use it. I uploaded that image under a fair-use rational for use on the Green Boots article. You can see the rationale that I used at File:Green Boots.jpg. The same image could only be used on the eight-thousanders article if there were another fair-use rationale for its use on that article. WP:FAIRUSE has more on the relevant guidelines. Mega coolness!

Hey, how did you do those reflinks so fast on the Racehorse injuries article? I read the reflinks WP article, but it's total gibberish to me. All I know is that to do 71 refs in just a few minutes was an automated method, and I'd LOVE to not have to do ref work manually. However, I'm not great at programming stuff, and I run a Mac with Safari, so not sure some tools work. Any help in plain English would be much valued! Montanabw(talk) 22:24, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Montanabw. I just use the toolserver, which has a automatic referencing function here. Just be sure to double check what it changes, since sometimes it grabs some strange info for the author section especially. The toolserver is an online tool, so it shouldn't matter what you're running. They have a couple of other tools that are pretty handy as well. Good luck, Gobonobo T C 22:30, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Completely new abortion proposal and mediation

In light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted.

To avoid accusations that this posting violates WP:CANVASS, this posting is being made to every non-anon editor who has edited either page since 1 July 2010, irrespective of possible previous participation at the mediation page. HuskyHuskie (talk) 20:09, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
