Let me help you out. I don't know what game you are playing with the Kristi Noem article, but it is simple matter of how to edit it. If the traffic violations are a valid topic for inclusion in the Noem article then the traffic violations of Noem's opponent's chief of staff ("COS") are ALSO valid for inclusion in the article. Now, if the traffic violations are not valid for inclusion then the traffic violations of the COS are not valid for inclusion. An admin removed the COS's DUI conviction for the Herseth Sandlin article because the admin argued that personal articles are NOT the place for every tit for tat of the campaign. Noem's traffic violations are only in the news because of the give and take of the campaign--just as the DUI of the COS. So applying the logic of the admin working the Herseth Sandlin article to the Noem article then traffic violations should not be included. Also, there are BLP issues involved. Do we want to put in Wikipedia the traffic violations of each and every person that has an article about them? No. Please review the BLP rules. There is also the issue of undue weight. Listing all of her violations one by one takes up a huge part of her bio. Now, you have been editing at Wikipedia for quite a long time now. I have butted heads with you in the past. You have given me the same inappropriate warning in the past. You do not discuss the issues you just revert and then put warning above on my talk page. From now on the burden in on you to DISCUSS. Just don't tell people to discuss. Start discussing. It is a delay tactic on your part. If this had been the first time that you gave me that warning then I understanding but we have had this exact same discussion. Also, I did discuss the changes on the edit summary. And you know this. I can tell by the way that edited my talk page. The original warning asks that comments be left in the edit summary--which I did--so you edited the warning to remove the part about discussing in the edit summary. Now, unless you provide good reasoning on why either ALL of the traffic violations (and that includes the violations of Noem and the COS) belong in the article about Noem then I am going to remove the references to the traffic violations because they violate BLP and undue weight. template capitalization competition & reflist columns

Thank you for your attention to detail.

I've noticed that both {{cite . . .}} and {{Cite . . .}} replace each other. Either another user or a bot is going around capitalizing and you're decapitalizing. I don't remember who's capitalizing or I'd suggest something there, because, whichever convention is accepted, it would save the two of you a lot of work if agreement was reached. I capitalize since that seems to be the convention but I'm not sure that all templates have a consistent style.

On Reflist/reflist, I think a two-column layout is more readable than a single column, although I agree that a fixed width may be bad on some hardware and three or more columns is bad on some hardware. I'm going to continue using two columns unless you suggest a good reason for not. One difference may be that one column may be better for long URLs, although as long as they're clickable I'm not sure that matters, and I prefer to label external URLs with document titles or other information anyway.

Hi Nick. Thanks for you note. I've been using the Reflinks tool from the toolserver and set up the preferences to have it "apply common fixes," such as reference formatting. I'm usually filling in references for articles where I see bare urls or disambiguating - the changes in capitalization of {{cite}} and in parameters for {{reflist}} are often incidental (and hopefully benign). To my knowledge, it does not matter whether or not the c is capitalized in the cite template as it will render regardless. I agree that three columns should be avoided and I support you using two columns for reference sections. I'm generally happy when anyone uses references at all and especially so when they are well labeled. I've been making the switch to {{Reflist|colwidth=30em}} instead of fixed columns for the more heavily referenced articles since it allows the number of columns to be selected based on the browser's width. United States Congress & Dab solver

Hi, you recently used this program (or some other additional program?) to make many changes to the above article. Unfortunately, in correcting miscapitalizations, the program introduced some of its own. For example, in author names, it changed RICHARD L. Lossy compression artifacts in File:Wired magazine June 1997.png

I noticed you swapped out the article image for Wired (magazine) with a picture of the cover, replacing the .svg logo that was already there, but the image you replaced it with is a .png with visible .jpg artifacts. Now, I've looked around at some of the other magazine articles, and I noticed that they have covers and not logos for their article images, but the image you put up is blurry, even in the thumbnail on the article. I've decided to revert your change, because overall, I think the logo looks better, even if it isn't the whole cover. If you have the original jpg image that was converted to png, or better yet, a png of the cover, it'd be great if you could upload that to replace the logo. Or, if you think having a cover image instead of a logo is more important than decent quality, go ahead and revert my edit to put yours back up. Lx45803 (talk) 07:59, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Lx45803. Thanks for your note. I've uploaded a new version of the file that I hope is devoid of .jpg artifacts. I took the cover image from here as it was one of the only images I could find of that particular cover. I wanted to use this specific cover as it was listed as one of ASME's top 40 covers of the past 40 years [2]. Could you take a look at the new version and see if it looks any better? I'm not attached to having the magazine cover in the infobox and could see including it in the body of the article if it's not too blurry. Gobonobo T C 16:53, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

"Left-wing" & "regularly"

Please explain why you went through many of my edits and removed "left-wing", and in the case of Jane Mayer and Jim Wallis, removed "regularly." The description "left-wing" succinctly gives the reader an idea of what the show is about and provides an explanation of why it matters that these journalists appeared on the show. I have 5 reliable sources that characterize Democracy Now! as "left-wing" (one of those sources was added to the SPLC article after being challenged by someone else). As far as "regularly" for Jane Mayer and Jim Wallis, I provided 5 example references each over a lengthy period of time to demonstrate their regular appearance on the show. Thanks. Hi Drrll. I feel that it is unnecessary to precede every instance of Democracy Now! in Wikipedia with "left-wing." As it stands, the article for Democracy Now! does not even mention that the show is left-wing. I would support some referenced inclusion of the left-wingedness of that show in its article, but your inclusion of a stand alone paragraph saying He/she appears regularly on the left-wing Democracy Now! show. on multiple BLPs stood out to me as coatrack-y. I don't have a strong opinion on the inclusion of the word regularly, but I do have concerns about giving undue weight to that particular show when people may have appeared on many different shows. Roxman

Thanks, Gobonobo, for moving the photo of Susanna Roxman to the more normal position; also, for enlarging the picture a bit. The page looks much smarter this way. Would it be possible for you to enlarge the photo a little more? Most portraits on the Wikipedia seem to be larger. I'm not sure how to do this. The picture would have to be moved down, slightly, for this purpose. Hi Smilesofasummernight. I resized the image to 300px which is about as high as we can go according to MOS:IMAGES. It is of course possible to crop the image as well, but that probably wouldn't increase the resolution significantly. Cheers, Gobonobo T C 15:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Suggestions for next Minnesota meetup?

Hi, Gobonobo, do you have any suggestions for a next date or place for a Minnesota meetup? I was disappointed to miss last Sunday's meetup once a work meeting coincided with the time announced for the meetup. Ganas article

Do you have any recommendations for the article on the Ganas community? I seem to be in an edit war with Eroberer, whose only history with Wikipedia is in editing Ganas related articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Campoftheamericas (talk • contribs) 08:13, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. Since you are a member of the community, you should be aware of Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline. There is a guide for dispute resolution that may be of some help here along with links to different noticeboards that might be useful. Above all, I'd recommend working on one change at a time and discussing changes on the talk page. Knowing Wikipedia's policy about neutrality may be useful as well, since this seems to be where the article has the most issues. Gobonobo T C 10:59, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
I appreciate the tips, but this situation is somewhat different. I have reason to believe Eroberer is the person that was accused, and by my opinion, is the one, that shot Jeff. That's why the the article sounds like an attack on Ganas. I would rather someone of authority interfere because of the article's severe POV. Take a look at the POV before Eroberer's first edit:

Take a look at all of Eroberer's edits: most if not all, are about Ganas or members of Ganas.
