I'm new too![edit]

Hello, I saw your note at the Tea House, and wanted to extend a hand of welcome. I am brand new myself and have almost no idea what I'm doing, so take this with a grain of salt... and of course, wait for more seasoned editors to respond to you because I think they will. I don't know how to add color or boxes either!! What I found interesting for myself is going to topic areas I am interested in, and seeing if there are suggestions I would like to make. So that I don't offend the authors/editors, I edit the Talk page of that article and suggest some revisions, and then "watch" the page and see if anyone responds. I've also taken bolder steps, such as making the edits, but I think it's better to edit the talk page first out of courtesy to the Wikipedians that are active in developing the article. As I said I'm brand new and can't offer any real advice, but if you want to ask me anything, feel free! Nice to meet you. Cityside189 (talk) 00:33, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice! Nice to meet you too. Glacialfrost (talk) 00:43, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted your comment on Teahouse because it was also on here. I hope thats ok. Glacialfrost (talk) 00:46, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also Cityside189 I think we should be buddies on here because we are both new as far as sharing new things we learn so be can both progress faster. I suggest doing the wikipedia adventure because that taught me a lot but it took like 45 min for me and I got all the badges on my page. Glacialfrost (talk) 00:50, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse talkback: you've got messages![edit]

Hello, Glacialfrost/Archive 1. Your question has been answered at the Teahouse Q&A board. Feel free to reply there!
Please note that all old questions are archived after 2-3 days of inactivity. Message added by Liz Read! Talk! 01:05, 13 August 2015 (UTC). (You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{teahouse talkback}} template).[reply]

Thanks[edit]

I'm just popping by to say thanks for adding your 2 cents to the CSI discussion. It can get irritating sometimes, and of course the senior editor is always given a lot more levity than other editors which can make for a very one sided discussion. I appreciate your advice and I look forward to seeing you bobbing around wikipedia. For some reason Drmargi deleted your comments, but I wouldn't take it too personally, it happens to us all! --Unframboise (talk) 23:51, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I know Unframboise, Drmargi called me a twerp and started a sockpuppet investigation on me that turned out as a no so I feel for you. I dont know if you read the comment but I pretty much made some suggestions to make the conversation less mean overall. Drmargi was just angry at my opinion of them and thats probably why they deleted the comment. Im not coming back to the CSI discussion after the harrassment from Drmargi but I wish all of you the best in coming to a decision. Glacialfrost (talk) 00:08, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I did read the comment, yes. What's funny is during our disagreement I quoted word for word things she has said to me in the past (such as the 'Troll be Gone' edit summary) and, when she did it, it was not blinked at, but coming from me it suggested I was being intimidating etc. It's very odd and I hoped that wikipedia would be more of a community than a matriarchy, but alas, we can't have everything. Hopefully one day an admin will take note and realise all is not as it seems! The conversation was very mean overall and whilst I admit I was not very kind, it was definitely a two way thing, so me being blocked I felt was unjustified (especially when the reason given was "being a jerk(!)". Anyway, glad your investigation worked out in your favour! --Unframboise (talk) 00:32, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I do think the block was justified after your comment, not necessarily with the exuse being a jerk, but was justified. But after today, I have seen how Drmargi can push one to their edge and cross the line in pushing peoples buttons so I think that your response was asked for in a way after Drmargi's actions. Ill see you around Unframboise and im sure that youll get through the CSI feud and again, I wish you good luck on coming to a compromise as it seems like everyone over there needs it with Drmargi spreading fuel over everything . Speedy deletion nomination of Oto (Valle de Broto)[edit]

Hello Glacialfrost,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Oto (Valle de Broto) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Amitbanerji26 (talk) 05:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there GF, from Portugal,

I don't doubt your best intentions whilst reverting me, but judging by the fact you yourself have been reverted by an administrator in this footballer's article, I knew I was onto something. I have been fighting vandalism with all my heart in the almost nine years I have been here (in this case, it's not exactly vandalism, but the other person wanted to insert TRIVIA in an ENCYCLOPEDIA).

Attentively, happy editing --84.90.219.128 (talk) 01:10, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Im sorry if I offended you, I assumed you were blanking the page as vandalism. GlacialFrost (Talk) 01:13, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hi Glacialfrost, I've noticed your anti-vandalism efforts on AIV and you've done a good job. I have a few tidbits to help you out. First, please only give out one warning at a time – not four as you did here. The general rule is one warning per one reversion. Those edits by the IP were fine, as well. The section that the IP deleted was not sourced and it kinda read like it should belong on promotional website for the movie. Also, there is a great tool called twinkle that is very useful in reverting vandalism. It is far easier and faster to use than to manually undo edits as you have been doing. A couple of days using twinkle and I can add the rollback feature to your account. Welcome to Wikipedia you are picking it up fast. GFOLEY FOUR!— 00:01, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You Gfoley4. I read about twinkle on my mentor's essay on vandalism but I am not confirmed so I can't enable it yet. But when I get confirmed, Ill be sure to test it out. Sorry about the multiple warnings, I thought the edits were wrong so Ill make sure to see if the content was ok to be removed in the future. Also sorry about the multiple warnings, I gave one for each edit. Ill just give one in the future. Thank you for the tidbits, they are helpful to me learning. GlacialFrost (Talk) 00:06, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I totally forgot that you were not autoconfirmed yet... so I just confirmed you. Go have fun with twinkle, it's great for adding warnings to users as well! GFOLEY FOUR!— 00:12, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thats great! Thanks for helping me get started a little faster and being so friendly, Ill get started with figuring it out Gfoley4. GlacialFrost (Talk) 00:17, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wow thanks Gfoley4. I already used it to revert two vandals and it made it much easier to send them the message so now I dont have to copy and paste it and go to their page from history and whatnot. Itll still take a while for me to get the hang of it fully but it makes things much easier for me. Ill update you in a few days on how im doing. If you have any other tips on vandalism, let me know because its better that I learn the right way rather than having to correct myself later. GlacialFrost (Talk) 00:30, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I have a few more tips for you. If you revert vandalism it's even easier to give them a warning using twinkle. On a talk page click the "TW" tab on the top and hit "warn." It will then give you all of the different warning templates that are available. And if you decide to manually warn an user, put {{subst:uw-vandalism-1}} ~~~~ instead of just {{uw-vandalism-1}} ~~~~. This will substitute the template which is common practice on warnings. GFOLEY FOUR!— 00:41, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I just finished reading on twinkle and figured out the first tip but Ill keep the second one in mind. GlacialFrost (Talk) 00:55, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've got an essay for that... Yunshui  07:37, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Glacialfrost - I noticed you filed this sockpuppet investigation. In the future for those might-be-but-not-sure cases, leaving a {{uw-agf-sock}} warning on the users' talk pages might be enough. I've found that some new users are just ignorant of the rules surrounding multiple accounts, and this one warning is enough to stop them. Of course, persistent behaviour by one or more of the suspect accounts would warrant an escalation to SPI.

Thanks for your efforts so far to fight vandalism... there's no such thing as having too much help. Cheers. --Drm310 (talk) 05:24, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to meet you Drm310. Thanks for the advice, Ill use that template in the future. See you around GlacialFrost (Talk) 05:27, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You need a great deal more to go on in an SPI that that, I'm afraid. The writing styles, which you claimed were similar, were in fact completely different (see my comments at the SPI) and other than the fact that all three users created pages named after their accounts (which, as North of Eden pointed out, is very common) their edits show no relationship to one another at all. Please be careful when filing SPIs; you need to be able to show substantive, plausible evidence that accounts are being operated by the same person. Yunshui  08:00, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the three accounts showed up in recent changes doing the same thing like two minutes right after the other with similar usernames doing the same type of thing so I made an improper assumption. I will make sure I have more to bacj myself up if something else happens in the future. GlacialFrost (Talk) 17:33, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
