GA reviews

Hi there,

I've been hanging around the GA noms page for a little, and I want to help with reviewing them. I haven't been at Wikipedia long, so I'm apprehensive about reviewing one myself -- I don't want to make a mistake and cause a problem, really. I was wondering next time you review an article, if I could maybe review it with you so I know exactly what to do? I've noticed you review a lot of them so I'm sure you know what makes (and doesn't make) a GA. If you are interested please let me know :) Thanks -- Galaxy250 (talk) 17:48, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Sure, happy to help. Gimme a yell when you're reviewing one and I'll take a look. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:40, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll get to reviewing one in the next few days, and I'll let you know! — Galaxy250 (talk) 16:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan! dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 04:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I think I've addressed all your concerns adequately about the "Reception" section now. If there's anything else, please let me know. Thanks. Ashnard Talk Contribs 11:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Looking pretty damn good. Tell me when you go to FAC so I can support! dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 11:15, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
The only thing standing in our way now is some tenacious POV-pushing IP. I'll keep you updated. Your help has been great. Ashnard Talk Contribs 11:24, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
It's at FAC now. Thanks for the help. Ashnard Talk Contribs 19:33, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there!

I've carried out most of the recommendations you asked for. In relation to the image, it is hard to find one, seeing as the article relates to something which in theory never happened. However, would it be suitable to use an image of one of the people involved in Planet Relief before it was cancelled, such as Ricky Gervais?

Thanks,

ISD (talk) 13:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

That image idea sounds good. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 04:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for passing! Cheers. ISD (talk) 07:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Correction

Ta orthographe en français (sur ta page d'utilisateur) été assez mauvaise—j'ai corrigé. Je suis désolé si qu'il été trop bold. (Actualement, la Wikipédia française utilise n'hésitez pas, mais…). --Kakofonous (talk) 14:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Hilary Duff FAC

Hi there...sentence issues raised by User:indopug have been reworded and addressed. Well u requested for LoCE but i myself am a member of LoCE and had copyedited the article in november 2007 before listing it for GAC which it eventually passed. Some minor rewording has been done by me again after u and indopug pointed out the sentences. Now to address ur queries:

  • Early life and career is short because it talks abt her career till she attained the age of 8-9 yrs. Later accomplishments are covered in Television section->Early work. Also her early career features her ballet performance and few TV commercials. Her TV career is chronicled separately so that the article structure is maintained. "..and career" in the section title refers to her performance as a kid in the ballet and TV commercials.
  • Content is the "Further reading" section is properly formatted now. If u have any other suggestions then pls suggest.
  • Images of her during her acting days are a bit difficult to find but i'll try. But i dont think that lack of acting career image should be an issue for it to being promoted to FA.

Anyways i would appreciate it if u could review the article again and leave a feedback. You can do so at FAC page or my talk page....thanx Gprince007 (talk) 15:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I'll look at the FAC again. The issue with copyediting is that you need to get some eyes that aren't used to the text to look at it. I could sign up for LOCE and start copyediting my articles, or I could just copyedit them; it's the same thing in that regard. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 04:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Gethin Jones: GA on hold

Hi, thanks for taking the time to review the article. I've made some changes to the article as suggested by you, and have put some comments on the article's talk page. — Cheers, JackLee talk 20:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

On my way there now. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 04:10, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Home... already!

Hey Alex. Surprisingly 4 days after the operation, I've been sent home on the grounds that I keep myself healthy and free of pain. Look forward to my next 6-8 weeks of school to recover and I look forward to return to editing shortly. Thanks for your support! — E talk 12:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Giggy got funny mouth

This made me laugh (out loud btw). You're a funny guy. Regarding your last RfA, I said I'd support some time in the future. Just letting you know your efforts around here of late have "earned" my support, whatever that's worth these days :) Until you chose to run again... Cheers. -- Longhair\talk 11:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

If you want to run, give me a poke and I'll nominate you. Despite this. Keilana|Parlez ici 23:44, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
The sooner that stops coming up the better! :) I don't plan to run anytime in the near future anyways. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:10, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Next GA newsletter

If you have some ideas on topics to write about, I'd be interested in hearing them (or if you want to write an article, that would be great, too)! The article in this month's issue was literally put together over the weekend, so I haven't really been making plans for articles/topics too far out so far. Dr. Cash (talk) 16:17, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I'll probably end up doing DHMO's guide to being an awesome GA reviewer. :) dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 22:16, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

FAC Comments

I believe I have addressed your comments at Rise of Nations: T&P's FAC. Hello32020 (talk) 00:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou

I should like to thankyou for {{User:Dihydrogen Monoxide/Wikidrama}}. It sits on my talkpage at User talk:Newbyguesses#Don't go there. Once the /Mantanmoreland arbitration case is over though, I think i might retire it, I don't think I do actually like "drama" at all. Would you be interested in designing a template that said something along the lines of "This user contributes to Fringe theories/ PseudoSciences - ie. Wikipediaspace", if you see what i am getting at. Thanks, again. Newbyguesses - Talk 03:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

How about "This user contributes to articles"? Although, somehow I think that wouldn't be used much :P Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 09:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you muchly for your support in my recent request for adminship, which was successfully closed on 76%, finishing at 73 supports, 23 opposes and 1 neutral. The supports were wonderful, and I will keep in mind the points made in the useful opposes and try to suppress the Larry David in me! Now I'm off to issue some cool down blocks, just to get my money's worth!

Thanks for the notice, I would feel bad taking credit for an article that you've worked so hard on, please let me know if there's anything I can do to help fix things. Keilana|Parlez ici 03:48, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Heya!

I noticed your comment here, and, ordinarily, I would have responded inline. However, you requested a talkpage message, so, here I am :P

Anyhow -- I wanted to mention, and, I understand that this isn't exactly a HUGE number (although, I think, for Cobi... or even me :P it would be.)

Not a huge increase, but, 400+, or, more than doubled. Not to mention, not everyone's great at articles. I'm not, and, I barely touch them. Folks like Cobi and I, and many many others, contribute in other ways. We make it easier for the article-writers to focus on the articles. In this respect, I firmly believe that this actually makes Cobi very well suited for the toolbox.

I'm also curious, what's changed your opinion since his last 2 RfA's? (You supported both).

Anyhow, I thought I'd drop you a note, per your request :) Have a good one, SQLQuery me! 09:26, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

It's all vandalfighting which is mainly what concerns me, and my attitude has changed somewhat since his last RfA (and, incidentally, since yours). That said, I'm going to strike my oppose because you know I think highly of you, and may move on to supporting at some stage in the week. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 09:42, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Favor?

rofl. Maybe I should take it easy on pants, they do have some uses, apparently. Funny to get a note from you, I was just writing you one (here comes the bad news). I wondered if I could ask you a favor. You've written a ton of GA's, could you look at concussion and tell me what you think needs to be done to get it up to GA? I was thinking of putting it up. If it's a long way away, that's useful information too. Hate to bug you but I could really use the help. Thanks much. Peace, delldot talk 10:08, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Ironically, I was just looking at it (OK, this is weird). I need to run now, but at a glance it seemed good; be bold and nominate it! I'll try and review it (cough this isn't canvassing for a GA review cough!) in the next few days. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 10:09, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Spooky! Yeah, I dunno if it's good enough yet, e.g. the prose lists under Concussion#Signs and symptoms. But I really didn't know, which is why I wanted to hear your opinion. I don't want to jump ahead in line and ask you for an actual review, but it's very nice of you to kind of offer XD Thanks a ton. delldot talk 10:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh well, I ended up reading and starting a review. It'll take me a while though, so tell me when it's at GAN. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 23:17, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Will do, thanks much. delldot talk 05:27, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, I went ahead and nominated it. I haven't found a replacement image for the boxing one yet, but other than that I think I've addressed (or explained why I failed to address) everything else you brought up so far. Thanks again for all the help, I sure appreciate it. Peace, delldot talk 10:23, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

A small correction

Hi Alex, I noticed your comment "A fi de acord cu Husond" in RfA just wanted to drop a line that it sounds better if you say "Sunt de acord cu Husond", infinitive is almost never used in Romanian. How you wrote would translate to "to be of accord with Husond" which doesn't sound good in English either. Sorry, I don't mean to go about correcting people, my English needs lots of revision too, but I saw that and I thought is funny that you wrote in Romanian and I just wanted to say "hi" and be useful at the same time. -- AdrianTM (talk) 05:04, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and "Ni hao" (no, sorry that's as much as I speak too) -- AdrianTM (talk) 05:05, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey Adrian, thanks for that. As you can see my Romanian writing is horrible - I actually got that text off an internet translation. Oh the shame! From now on I'll stick to witty commentary in English. :) dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 05:10, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
No, mate, don't be afraid, the verb "to be" is the most irregular verb in most of the languages (at least Indo-European ones), if you use computer translation you can learn stuff, but this kind of things are inevitable. -- AdrianTM (talk) 05:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
You're telling me! Learning French at the moment, and etre (minus the accents my keyboard can't afford) is killing me! Anyway, I fixed it up per your suggestion. Merci, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 07:23, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

My RfB

I wanted to personally thank you, DHMO (or H20 or Agua, or my favorite, Hydrogen Hydroxide), for your participation in my recent RfB. I have heard the community's voice that they require more of a presence at RfA's of prospective bureaucrats, and I will do my best over the near future to demonstrate such a presence and allow the community to see my philosophy and practices in action. I am thankful and appreciative that in general, the community feels that I am worthy of the trust it requires of its bureaucrats, and I hope to continue to behave in a way that maintains your trust in me and my actions. I hope that over the near future, you will become comfortable and satisfied with my understanding of the particulars and subtleties inherent in the RfA process, and that I may be able to count on your support when I decide to once again undergo an RfB. If you have any suggestions, comments, or constructive criticisms, please let me know via talkpage or e-mail. Thank you again. -- Avi (talk) 17:21, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Maybe next time. :) Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 23:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

FAC reviews

I am hoping you will review the February FAC stats here and this FAC. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:02, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I've withdrawn the support, thanks for the heads up. I'll try to be more careful in future. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 23:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for understanding; casual supports can really contribute to a backlog at FAC, and divert good reviewers efforts to articles that might not be ready. It's unfortunate that I have to close out fine articles due to lack of review, while reviewers are working on cleaning up articles that don't yet have the basics (like reliable sources) in place. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks in turn for understanding, and for all your work around FAC. I know I couldn't do it; and I'm sure many share that opinion. You rock. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:05, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Super Smash Bros. Melee is also going to need some help to pull through; since you supported, hopefully you can help iron out the remaining issues. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:30, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
I'll do my best (after I'm done with my FACs!). dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:33, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Another source of concern is at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Defense of the Ancients (and there are others); a disproportionate amount of reviewer time (from only a few reviewers, who are stretched thin) is being spent on trying to pull these articles up to standard after others declare support. I hope you can help out soon; resources should be allocated across all articles, but reviewers are forced to concentrate on articles that are appearing at FAC in need of peer review, copyedit and reliable sources, risking neglect of other worthy articles. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:06, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm...I copyedited that one once, as noted in my support, but I'll give it another run through. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 01:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for understanding; I hope you can see the strain these premature supports put on FAC (in terms of backlog) and other reviewers, who then have to dig in to address the issues. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:13, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I've finished taking care of the points on your review. Is there anything else you can see that needs fixing? Thanks for the review btw :) Seraphim♥ Whipp 00:43, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I'll take a look in a moment. Just taking a blind stab; did you work on the issues of too much quoting and not enough prose? If yeah, that it should probably good...just gimme a moment to finish up with my FAC stuff and I'll be on my way. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:47, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
I did my best to minimise it. Take as long as you need :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 00:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Yay! I really needed the outside input as I was stuck. Thanks for the thorough review! :0). 01:01, 8 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seraphim Whipp (talkcontribs)

re: Super Smash Bros

Thanks for the note. I have stricken some of my comments about reliable source issues since the consensus seems to be that IGN is a reliable source. My request for a neutral copyedit stands. Ashnard expressed some frustration at finding an uninvolved copyeditor - is there someone at the video games project that might do it? --Laser brain (talk) 04:01, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

By the way, I'd like to say thank you for continuing to work at this FAC. One thing, since RockMFR hasn't responded to your question about the image, can't we just be bold and replace the image with the new one? Thanks. Ashnard Talk Contribs 14:38, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

If you think I should then nominate me nd if your reasoning is valid and strong enough, then I'll accept, but I don't know how my chances will fare. --rm 'w avu 11:49, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

A noob's guide to GA reviewing

Hey, your essay's interesting. I plan on reviewing some GA noms once the article I nominated is reviewed (whether it gets accepted or not, at least I'll be familiar with the process!). Had a question about something in your essay though - footnote 8 refers to a Veropedia parser. What's that and where is it? Thanks. :) Somno (talk) 12:27, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm in a hurry, but check out Veropedia. Register on the site, and it should be in your userlinks at the top. If you can't work it out (I couldn't for a while either), bug Riana, and tell her I say hi. :) Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 12:36, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I went to the site before but didn't know I had to register to see the parser thingy. Thanks! :) Somno (talk) 12:53, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
No probs; I'll try and take a look at your GAN soon. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 23:03, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
No hurry, there are plenty of noms that have been there longer than mine (and it's moving a lot faster than WP:RFF, which isn't moving at all). Somno (talk) 00:04, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Do you consider this a reliable source? [1] It's not ideal, but it may be the best available for info about the design process. Thanks. Somno (talk) 03:11, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
That should be fine. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 05:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

H-twenty?

Hello, DHMO! I was curious how you selected your signature text. As I’m sure you know, the chemical formula for water is H2O (with the letter “O” representing oxygen), not H20 (with a zero). Did you substitute the numeral for the element deliberately? — Knowledge Seeker 06:04, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I assure you that it's all an elaborate typo! Time to fix it. :) dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 06:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I’m glad I spoke up then. I’m a chemistry major and a typography nerd, so I tend to have an eye for these things. — Knowledge Seeker 07:39, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

GA reviewing

Hi DM, do you fact check when you review articles in GAN? --Efe (talk) 07:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I try to. Why - did I miss something major? dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
No. You asked me before to review articles in GAN but I was a bit hesitant to pick one to fully review it because of this "fack checking" issues. Though it is not required to fact check (can be traced from older discussions in GAN), I have this feeling that I need to do so. But I have no time, and you know, we have no internet connection in the house. Thats partly why I missed to do your request. Maybe someday I can help reduce the backlog. For now, song-related articles improvement. =) --Efe (talk) 07:50, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I see your point. I sometimes will click the link if I find the claim being made suspicious, but I generally just hover the mouse over and glance at the publisher - if they're an RS then I'll take my chance. Yeah, it's not the best ethic, but I haven't blown the Wiki up yet (+AGF and all). dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:52, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Prove that Rawlins has not written an autobiography. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.149.223.218 (talk) 10:27, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

The burden of proof is on you to prove that he is "known for his vanity page", using a reliable source. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

The biography consists almost entirely of quotations from Rawlins' own site, www.dioi.org. The rest is mostly from Pickering, a friend of Rawlins. Even a small amount of Pickering's own scientific work is praised. Wikipedia rules ban links to a site connected to yourself. Rawlins used numerical sock-puppets, to hide the fact that he was writing a banned autobigraphy. They are registered to an American uni but used by Dennis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.149.223.218 (talk) 10:40, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm not interested in this sockpuppetry stuff, but if the content I revered is backed up by RS, feel free to add it back in. Citing ones' self is not an RS. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:42, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

The "revered" seems to be a mistake for "reversed". Rawlins' citing his own web-site, i.e. himself, is certainly not a reliable source. It is not wise to get near Rawlins. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.11.226.135 (talk) 11:22, 10 March 2008 (UTC) Dennis Rawlins' vanity page has been drastically edited by an administrator. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.41.51.240 (talk) 10:56, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Red Hot Chili Peppers

How is the information not notable? Allmusicguide, Q, Rolling Stone, VH1 and MTV all find it notable to mention in their biographies of the band. Why would not even two lines be notable on wikipedia? It's definitely sourced factual information. It's also comparable to stage antics by other bands which have no trouble being considered notable. An example is Iggy Pop's stage antics while he was part of the Stooges and Bobby Brown's stage antics. Munci (talk) 12:31, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Re:Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2008-02-22 Singapore Airlines

Perhaps you may have misunderstood, but I do recognise the importance of concensus building, adherence to concensus, and the good things the MedCab can do. But there was a reason why I chose not to "adhere to concensus" with regards to this case, why I decided not to participate in the first MedCab, and why I disregarded "concensus" in the second, all of which I will explain in fuller detail if given the right opportunity. Ultimately, I will participate in the case, as long as all individuals participate with an open mind and with full demonstration that no ill-will is involved. That "other parties are willing to abide by consensus if I will do so" is actually a moot point as far as I am concerned, for the said "other parties" is the very same group who has insisted that I, the minority, should abide by their "concensus" all these while, which they will obviously reprise and enforce during the MedCabm irregardless of circumstances and whatever I may say during the MedCab process. Have they demonstrated any willingness to listen to my case again without bias, and without bringing in personal agendas?--Huaiwei (talk) 15:04, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Let's put this in very simple terms. There is a possibility that at the end of the MedCab, the mediator, User:Dihydrogen Monoxide will issue a statement of consensus that decides against you... or in your favor. I'd like to underline here that what this statement says is up to the neutral third party mediator, not anybody else (or do you have credible reason to doubt H2O's neutrality?), so any closed minds, ill-will and anything else you'd care to allege for other participants is irrelevant.
Now, Russavia, Vegaswikian and I have stated that we will abide by this statement, meaning that we'll observe the consensus even if we disagree with it. The million dollar question is: will you?
Jpatokal, we all know full well why you are particularly energised by this particular exercise. Unfortunately, the Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal, for your information, does not "impose sanctions or make judgments". As the mediator, Dihydrogen Monoxide is not expected to "issue a statement of consensus" of any form. He merely facilitates "communication and help parties reach an agreement by their own efforts". This agreement is forged by us, not him. Do you, in all honesty, feel that you are approaching this dispute-resolution mechanism with a genuine desire to seek such an agreement, or are you here merely because a particular involved member pisses you off personally in other articles? And speaking of which, since when did you become an involved party in this particular case?--Huaiwei (talk) 20:42, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm involved because I use the Changi article probably more than any other on Wikipedia, I care deeply about its quality, and I'm pissed off not by you personally — I neither know you nor care — but by the endless edit warring between you and Russavia and the way it's affecting this article and many others. Jpatokal (talk) 03:56, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree, I will not be making any statements of consensus; all I want to do is try and help you guys agree on one. I can make proposals, see if we agree/disagree, and go from there. Can we go from there, with an open mind and no ill-will towards anyone? dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 22:14, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I am personally prepared to put aside past grievences and approach this MedCab with a reasonable level of goodwill and common sense. I hope I have some company in this respect.--Huaiwei (talk) 22:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Chances of passing an RfA

Hello H2O.
I am hoping you can give me some advice.
I was nominated for an RfA two weeks ago. I failed on the grounds that I had too little experience in non-vandalfighting areas.
Since then, I have not really changed my editing patterns. However, I have done a lot of vandal fighting since then.
This is a fairly hard-to-read text version of my wannabe kate summary at the start of my failed RfA
Here is my wannabe kate summary now.
Someone asked me today if they could nominate me for admin. I told them I would have to ask some experienced users what they thought about me trying again so soon after failing an RfA.
Based on what I have done in the interval, do you think there is any chance that I would pass an RfA? J.delanoygabsadds 16:48, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

In short, no, you won't pass. For a start, make Panasonic DMP-BD30K better. I saw your comment re. me in your last RfA (sorry about my mistake on that other article), but the reception section isn't the only problem. There are random linebreaks, badly formatted references, no images, and a stack of listcruft. Show that you know MOS and care improving and developing more than one article and you'll have a better chance of getting my support. Sorry if this seems blunt, but as you've come for honest advice, it's best, IMO, if I give you my honest opinion. Hope you don't mind :) Give it a few months, branch out into other areas, develop more articles, and I'd be happy to give more advice in the future. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 22:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
No offense taken. I do have a few questions. Do you have any suggestions about how to eliminate the listcruft in Panasonic DMP-BD30K? As I said in my RfA, I patterned the article around another (rather poorly written, apparently) article (Panasonic DMP-BD10) about an almost identical product. I have no ideas of how to properly integrate the mundane info into coherent text. Also, I am not sure what you mean by random line breaks. It looks fine on my 1280x800px screen, and when I changed my screen resolution to the other available sizes, (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768. I have a notebook) it still looks OK to me. Hi water =), i had posted an entry in mediation cabal and you promptly answer. I am sorry my english is not fairly good so i want to try my best to communicate with you.

Basically i had updated the section which i was working on few minutes ago (adding details of my request and so on). I am not sure what would happen next but i hope my problem can be solved. Thanks --HappyApple (talk) 10:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I very much doubt that will happen. I recall working with Dodo in the past and not seeing any such issues with him. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:42, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, i dont know if is rather illegal, or is it allowed?. But Am i able to have two different accounts in two different Wikipedias?. i.e. i am known as HappyApple here, and CleverChemist in spanish wikipedia (i am not sure if this is legal?).
By the way, i had recently check my discussion page on spanish wikipedia and Dodo has said that i am defamating him because i had posted my request for mediation. And he also has said that my attitude is resulting rather destructive. Do you agree?. per see A la vuelta.
You know i really want to say thanks for your advise and guidance on this. But since Dodo's attitude, shown to me today i really frowned down to assume good faith. However i want to remark i am polite and i wish this situation can be solved. Like i explained myself in the mediation cabal request, Dodo, has blocked a friend account and he has since behaving like a bully. --HappyApple (talk) 10:57, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi again. I hope to do not being unpolite or annoying with my request. But as i suggested in my previous message. It just happened. Dodo's friend. Petronas has blocked me for about three days. [4] --HappyApple (talk) 11:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Pd. i know this would happened, i rather would say he is very angry because of my request.

You accidentally deleted references

I noticed that you changed the Australian Idol 2007 page, to tidy it up a bit, but in doing so you accidentally wiped 6 references, and then put a note at the top to remind people to add in references! I have added the 6 references back in to the page, and added in some more useful information. I thought that it was a bit biased to simply stated that "in reaction to Mark Holden's encouragement, Tarisai Vushe lashed out", because in actual fact she lashed out in reaction to Mark Holden telling her live on air that she was fake. I am sure that the YouTube videos of the shows themselves provide sufficient evidence to back up all of the claims. Also, it wasn't just Ben McKenzie who was affected by the Hillsong Church allegation. As at the time that the allegation was made, the favourites were 1. Tarisai 2. Matt 3. Ben McKenzie 4. Daniel 5. Marty with Carl and Natalie favourites to be eliminated. The Hillsong Church claim had the effect of reversing the voting, such that they finished in roughly the opposite order, and it is very important to note that. They didn't just fall randomly either. 7th, 6th and 5th were all named by Hillsong.

Anyway, if you think that there is some problem with showing video footage of the show itself, and quoting its content, then please feel free to make the necessary amendments. Dyinghappy (talk) 15:43, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Articlehistory on GA passes

Hi, Dihydrogen, I spend far too much of my time cleaning up GA passes, wanted to let you know for future reference. Please see the instructions at Template:Articlehistory. When the ah is installed incorrectly, it causes extra work for me and for GimmeBot (it stalls the bot, and he has to make two passes). When there is a previous peer review, it is the first event in articlehistory, so building GA as the first event stalls the bot. I've reverted the incorrect template, replaced it instead with the GA templates, and when GimmeBot goes through, he will get it right. If you don't build the ah correctly, it's best to use the old GA templates and let GimmeBot do it correctly.[6] Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:13, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I copyedited this article today, and all of my concerns about punctuation errors have been resolved. If you want to perform a GA review, please feel free to do so. I don't want to come out of this bearing ill will toward anyone, but I did feel attacked yesterday. I have been working to try to cut down on the GA nomination backlog, and I applied the criteria as I understood them. I am apparently the only editor who didn't know not to take the stability criteria literally, but I am glad to see that the criteria have been rewritten. I just felt that, instead of other editors appreciating my effort, they spat in my face for making an honest mistake. I'm sure that I'm taking that too personally, though, so I wanted to let you know that I have moved on. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 04:56, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm a bit too involved (IMO) to do a review, but thanks for the comment. I appreciate your sincerity. You have been doing good work, sometimes people just don't notice this when you make a mistake. I apologise for doing so. The stability criteria has been changed to what actually happens, which is good - again, I'm sorry that I (we?) attacked you for going by the letter of a guideline when you were't aware of the spirit. Thanks for your help; I do hope to see you around GAN again, if you can find it within you to forgive me (us?). Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 05:20, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
To be honest, you probably didn't attack me. I think I just need to take a few days away from Wikipedia to clear my head (not just about this situation, but just in general). Fortunately, I leave for vacation tomorrow morning, so I am forced to do just that. I apologize for my unwillingness to listen to feedback. I was caught off-guard and was too defensive to give an appropriate reply, which just snowballed from there. I am very glad to see that the stability guideline is changed so that this can be avoided in the future--perhaps it was good for this to happen because it prompted that change. Thanks for your understanding, and perhaps I will get back to reviewing articles once I get home. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 05:54, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Enjoy your holiday :) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 05:58, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Reponse to mediation and end to dispute

Hi, i contacted you at first hand so i could show my case regarding to spanish wikipedia. But since arguments and counter arguments have been shown. I have decided to walk away from any further dispute. And on the following statement i want to make things clear, before closing my case.

First of all I asked Kim Brunning's assistance with that.
And in response to Dodo's arguments in his commons page, i must add, that i had publicly declared apologies to him for the incident and i stated that it is my wish this will never happen again. [7]
And as for the Wikimeet up incident, i have to declare that my words were already deleted and such issue has been closed.
As of March 15. The page has been cleared and updated and no any sign of endorsing nor following previous comments i had made have shown up [8].
I am sorry if i sounded a little bit paranoic in my first post, but i didn't know what to do. (I even asked for help as it could be seen from here [9] (Of course that can't be taken as an excuse but certainly it is my wish to settle down this dispute and make it finished or let case closed).
i also want to state: i had made many mistakes over the process (during and after the incidents) i admit i should have remained calm. so i want to address apologies to all parts involved and declare that i will never state any arguments against anyone, like the way i did.
Dodo and petronas have left Spanish wikipedia, but i am sure this was motivated not by me, but by other users involved (personal affairs or disputes) on that as you can see here [10]. So i wish this could be set on the record.
I know you had expressed to Dodo on his user's page that you will not buy my story [11]. it is ok, i admit i had been paranoic. but not anymore.
This time, i had being neutral with myself, and i am showing to you evidence based on records and edits made by other users.
So i wish as part of cabal mediation, you could give me a chance (as i had no other previous incident made, except the showed on cabal mediation during these days) (assuming good faith) and let the case closed on mediation cabal discussion. Thank you for your patience, --HappyApple (talk) 07:16, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I've Requested A Peer Review

I've requested a peer review of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver following an intense clean-up and restructuring of the article. Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated. The Clawed One (talk) 23:50, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Peer review idea

Hi, I have made a proposal that no peer review request be archived without some response. To aid in this, there is a new list of PR requests at least one week old that have had no repsonses beyond a semi-automated peer review. This list is at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog.

There are just over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, so I figure if each of these volunteers reviewed just one or two PR requests without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog (as there have been 2 or 3 such unanswered requests a day on average).

If you would be able to help out with a review or two a month from the "no responses" backlog list that would be great (and much appreciated). Please discuss questions, comments, or ideas at the PR talk page and thanks in advance for your help, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:03, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

You Tube footage of the show itself isn't considered to be reliable?

I am confused and surprised by this suggestion. Surely if it is a YouTube clip of the show itself, which proves quite clearly that it is of the show, and the show is being quoted, then it counts as a reliable reference. Why doesn't it? Dyinghappy (talk) 12:44, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Boredoms GA stuff

Hi, I've made most of the changes you recommended (here are some notes):

  • I have added some more sources and a lot of ref tags; I hope the use of ref tags isn't excessive.
  • Yes, that one band is called UFO or Die.
  • I've moved the "Some people disputed these claims" sentence and rewrote it because apparently it's supported by the Vice article.
  • For access dates as refs, I either pulled them from the page history or just put today, since all the sites are still up as of today.

Thanks for the review. = ∫tc 5th Eye 18:01, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Okay

There must be some straaaange rules here.

So let me get this straight here.

Something happened on a TV show that had approximately 2.5 million people watch it.

There is apparently some dispute that it really happened.

You Tube has a clip of this TV show, that anyone who wasn't amongst those 2.5 million people who watched it live can watch to see it and prove that what had happened really happened.

This clip is apparently a copyright violation.

If its not a copyright violation, there is a suggestion that it's not a reliable source, even though its a pretty obvious copy of the show itself, that can be verified by the 2.5 million people that saw it.

And without that clip, you're left with personal testimony from one of the 2.5 million people who saw it, or one of the however many people that saw the clip.

And without the clip, you at least seem to dispute that it really happened.

Somewhere along the lines there, sanity has escaped, and what we are left with is idiocy, and red tape gone crazy. Dyinghappy (talk) 14:04, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I notice you replaced the logo in the name field of the infobox there. You might want to read Template talk:Infobox Musical artist where this has been debated extensively. The consensus is that this is a text-only field, that logos are not automatically encyclopedic, and that the few exceptions to this should be handled by adding them to the body of the article with a referenced explanation of why they are worthy of inclusion. --John (talk) 00:48, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

No problem at all. I took it out again already but I wanted to let you know why I was doing it. Best wishes, --John (talk) 01:04, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I've noted that you are the author/part author of several highly-rated articles and I'd very much appreciate you reviewing the Estelle Blackburn article which I have commenced. I'm doing this sooner than I would have preferred in the article's development (i.e. after proper citation and expanded links and other references) but I am at an impasse on certain inclusions which Cygnis Insignis is objecting to and which I believe are actually worthy of retention.

I would like to include a couple of sections in the article which precis the educational and career details of the subject. Cygnis is removing them on the pretext that they should be incorporated into the main text or deleted. My intended approach was to give a fluently-written overview in the main text and recapitulate with more specific details in the precis sections. As to notability; if anyone is interested in the subject's life at all, who's to say that the materials in the precis would not be of interest to them? They could be incorporated as hide-bar sections or sized-down "fact-boxes" such as one finds in newspaper articles. Why don't I like that stuff in the main text of articles? Because it reminds me of the old Soviet joke: "What happened in 1883? - Lenin's thirteenth birthday." I notice that it becomes a dreary and unmemorable litany on the lines of "In (year) he did this. In (year) he did that. In (year) he..and so on. Frankly, if that's how it has to be, I couldn't be bothered writing any more of it; essentially because I detest reading material written in that style. I don't intend this as a request for dispute resolution; I'm simply stating the background and asking for your opinion on how to best progress the article. Retarius | Talk 01:22, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Generally, hide-bar sections are a bad idea and I agree with what Cygnis did in this case. I see your concern about writing in a "year, action, year, action" form...it does get dull, but you don't have to do it that way. You can have sections devoted to educational/career details that aren't governed by time...just put the information in as you please. In response to My intended approach was to give a fluently-written overview in the main text and recapitulate with more specific details in the precis sections., I believe general consensus is to give a good overview in the intro, and go into detail in the sections. I know this isn't exactly how you'd like the article...but it does have consensus, and it my opinion it's a better way. In any case, good luck with the article, and I hope this helps a bit... dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 07:24, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I have made all the changes that you requested in your review of The Chronic and was hoping that you could look over it in its present state. Thanks. - Guerilla In Tha Mist (talk) 22:49, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi would you make a second opionion on the thriller album. Hes left a 1 line statement about the article, it doesnt make much sense, not sure what he wants to do or to be done with article, Cheers. Realist2 (talk) 21:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to relist the article at GAN. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:03, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Is there a way you can speech to that user about his actions. I posted three messages on his page asking for feedback, advise on improvements etc to which he never replied to me personally or on the talk page. He never left advise on the talk page and never changed the HOLD sign at the nomination list. I have spent months working on that article and his actions were entirely disrespectfull. Im now going to have to wait another month before our turn comes back around. Realist2 (talk) 13:41, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Your article is fairly close to the top of the list, so you shouldn't have to wait long. I'll speak to the user if something like this comes up again. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 03:59, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Milk's RfA

# "I would love to take it one step further" (Q1) - not comfortable with someone who would enjoy blocking. Come on now H20... isn't that what Admins do on a regular basis for fun ;-) Balloonman (talk) 05:47, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Blocking; yes. Loving it; not so much. I dunno, I'm not an admin here, but on Commons I don't particularly enjoy taking away someone's ability to edit. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:03, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words - however, as you may or may not have noticed, I am no longer editing at Wikipedia (apart from here) after my vampire-FAC-meltdown. I did receive coaching from Firsfron after I'd put my name up for admin coaching, and I'd planned to run in April for adminship. However, as I mentioned, I plan to be gone a long time - if not forever - but it was nice to hear from you. Hopefully I'll come back some day... Cheers, Spawn Man (talk) 07:39, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

FAC caps

I see you're getting requests to hide your comments at FAC once they're resolved; feel free to tell nominators that caps aren't required, and Sandy doesn't care if comments are uncapped; I care if I can tell if issues are resolved, and a subsequent Support implies that issues are resolved  :-) I do like the cap, but don't pretend that others need to or should use them. Silverchair

Congrats on the FA! One minor thing though, I think only the first mention of a Publisher among the references needs to be wikilinked, whereas here, they are all linked. For eg: every instance of Rolling Stone and AMG is wikilinked while only the first time should each be linked. So could you remove the overlinks? Thanks :) indopug (talk) 18:50, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I've written a big long essay, somewhere, on why I think it's worth wikilinking the publisher every time. I'll go find it one day...but for now I'd rather they stayed. Just imagine I have a good reason ;) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 22:55, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Australian Musical Group being worked on for an FAC

Hey H20, I have an Australian musical group on my watch list. The primary editor is trying to get the article to FA status. As you appear to be interested in Australian Musical groups and an expert at getting things to FA status, your thoughts/insight/help would be appreciated. Also, I should have a response to your query on my talk page in a few minutes.Balloonman (talk) 19:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I helped out a bit in that article's last FAC. It's on my watchlist now, I'll try and boost it up a bit. Oh, and I got the reply on your talk - will talk further there. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Did you notice anything that is needed in order for United Abominations to be featured? I'd like for it to be, but it is my first album article so I don't quite know what I am doing. Burningclean [speak] 00:38, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Take a look at some of mine...Internationalist (album) is my best, while Californication (album) is something I've used as a model a few times. Could do with more reception, I think, and the prose can always be improved. That's just at a glance. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 00:40, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Do you think I should do another peer review? Not much was done in the last one. Burningclean [speak] 00:52, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
That's probably a good idea. I might pitch in a bit after a few others do, if you like. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 00:53, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Metroid Prime 3 - Peer Review

I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave some more comments in the Corruption Peer Review. I've tried looking for a script of the game on IGN/GF, but I can only find documents that copy "log books" from the game. Hi DiM. I was wondering (mainly because your such a good GA reviewer!) whether you could possibly when you have a spare half an hour review the 1995 Japanese Grand Prix article. I'm asking as it was reviewed earlier, but the reviewer passed it without reviewing the article correctly. Could you possibly review it for GA-status for me? Much appreciated, D.M.N. No harm in going for FAC, I'd say. The worst case scenario is that you're not successful and you can try again when the issues are resolved. Tell me when it's up! dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:33, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

User:Sharkface217/Award Center – Hopefully a more productive task

I noticed the above project today and the MfD so I decided to balance things up a bit. Hopefully, the chance of a barnstar will encourage some of the participants to take up a task that is vital so as not to scare away new editors and to not shamelessly disregard their (possibly valuable) content. Regards, EJF (talk) 21:09, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm still not overly keen on the entire idea of the center, though your challenge seems (to me) a bit better than some of the other ones there (though it's still gameable, which still moves towards the attitude of doing things for barnstars, which is bad...and that's my main issue with the whole thing). Thanks for the note, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:33, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Personally, I don't think it or the reward board are really suitable for what is a volunteer encyclopedia, as I consider the reward to be the finished product, ie. the encyclopedia, but if other editors enjoy a structured setting where worthwhile tasks can be completed I have nothing against it, and good luck to them. Happy editing, EJF (talk) 16:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Editors Good Article Nomination Review

Hi, thanks for reviewing the article on Editors. I've addressed all the issues you have raised so do you think you could take a look at it again to see if it's ok? The only problem I had was changing the image to Wikipedia Commons - all the licensing is quite confusing so if you could help me with that I'd appreciate it. Thanks.Wikipéire (talk) 21:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey there, I'll try and take another look at some stage today. In the meantime, the CommonsHelper tool can do all the work for you. When you're done with that, add {{subst:ncd}} to the image page on Wikipedia. Hope this helps, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:14, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
