There was just too much speculation about this position that the post should have powers to do this, to do that, the first should be a navy or air force chief so that the fears of becoming army centric are removed.... opionions... i just left it all out and will come back to the article once more concrete info come. DTM, thanks a lot, these are some very fine hooks. Only problem is there is a WP:DYKHOOK rule that states "If the subject is a work of fiction or a fictional character, the hook must involve the real world in some way." This is a tough rule. Regarding the message you left on my talk page

Hi. A line at the top of your talk page caught my attention - "Genocide is happening in Kashmir and the world deserves to know." This is a highly contentious and I can't understand why it is there. As per my talk at the teahouse related to how to approach this, I would request you to remove the line. Here i am placing a few Wikipedia policies to support my request such as WP:UPNOT, WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS, WP:INCONSIDERATE. I guess this is a borderline case as pointed out in the teahouse, but nevertheless I request you to remove that line unless some context is added or there is some concrete supportive material. I did not write those words on my talk page. The quote you refer to was left there by an anonymous user. This user was abusive towards me and placed those words onto my talk page because I was trying to make sure that the articles relating to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were neutral as possible. If you had properly read the thread, you would have seen that. Therefore, after having to enduring abuse by anonymous users, I do not need people like you posting passive aggressive messages to my talk page about content that I did not write. I started making a few changes. Whatever is dubious should just be removed since the article is coming out quite nicely and removing one or two dubious lines won't make a difference. I sort of understand now the confusion in the number of views. One of the main things is that the song has more than one version on Youtube. So the main has 72M but combined 130M (as of now). TesterMan, I am in need of help. I am trying to create a page about an author -the page was ruthlessly attacked -which led to edit wars-which led to accusations of numerous sock puppet accounts, which led to a total ban of the subject matter except where mention is made with offensive and degenerative remarks included (made by certain administrators and his editor friends). Attempts to edit/remove these degenerative and biased remarks - especially about certain esteemed Kashmiri people, only resulted in further bans. I tried to create a new page. Would you be so kind to look it over and offer suggestions? I submitted it for publication on Wikipedia but it may take months. If you want to take over the article, improve it, and publish it on wiki, that would be great! Olsson traveled the world extensively at the height of terrorist conflicts when several ancient graves were destroyed by [[2]]. She then originated the idea to gather DNA from all remaining intact Biblical graves. In her book, she identifies approximately seventy-five historical and Biblical graves that are under threat. A family identified in her book makes claims they are descended from [Asaf], a saint buried in the Roza Bal tomb in Kashmir, whom they allege to be Jesus. As stated in her book, they would be among the first to submit their DNA for comparison.

Olsson made several attempts to initiate the Project, working with the Governments of both [[3]] and Pakistan, and with notable archaeologists as [A. Dani] (Pakistan) and [Fida Hassnain] (Kashmir, India) but was thwarted at last moment by threats of terrorism.

Olsson appears in several film documentaries among whom also appears the Dalai Lama and [Pagels], who both support her ‘Jesus in India’ theories.

Itsibitsy it is quite easy to see why this author will fail WP:NAUTHOR. I did some quick searches and I dont find her notable. So it is a wise decision on your part to abandon the plans of working on her WP:BIO, as your efforts would have been wasted after the article got deleted. Itsibitsy, give the Article for Creation (AFC) route a try if you haven't already. There is no harm in trying, (other than that you will spend time on it and an AFC checker will, but wouldn't worry too much about it). If the AFC route helps settle things for now and gives better closure than maybe that could be given go. Teahouse is also a really nice way to get comments just to reinforce the general perception of people towards the article. DTM (talk) 08:20, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

I disagree with DTM here, that AFC is a good idea now. No it is not and will only be a waste of time, which can be used for improving or creating other notable articles. BigXray and DTM, I thought that author (Olsson) was notable- especially for an India audience, because she proposed a DNA test project at several Pakistan and Kashmir graves ...and worked with renowned India and Pakistan archaeologists like Dani and Hassnain......but now I am working on a new article for submission about the 'Kolbrin', a book saved from the Glastonbury fire centuries ago. The tweet is partly correct but misinterpreting the words of the Bill and larger Act which gives a simplistic misleading biased and wrong picture as far as I can tell from what I have read in the Bill, Act and media reports, everyone doesn't have to be named persay........ I am afraid the constitutionality/unconstitutionality of the CAB is once again a gray area [6]. It might take several years for the Supreme Court to decide. I am also wondering if the debate is all about wording rather than substance. The Right wants to name the religions and the Left wants to make it religiously neutral. I don't believe that is correct. Remember that the Bill was introduced in 2016 and long-term visas for the refugees claiming persecution were granted in 2015. The refugees are quite real. All the opponents of the Bill are pursuing a revisionist imaginary history, which I can't accept.

The perception issues are summed up nicely in this quote of Ramakrishnan [8]:

“Now, people say that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill doesn’t affect Muslims who are already in India and are Indian citizens. But that’s not the point. The point is that it makes those 200 million Muslims feel as if somehow their religion is not as valid or as Indian as the others. That’s not a good recipe for harmony. India should not be competing with Pakistan or Afghanistan.”

It appears to me that you did not read The Print yet. This article clearly explains what was the need to bring in CAB. The NRC in Assam found more Illegal Hindus than Muslims, and BJP wouldn't want to hurt its votebank, hence it brought in CAB to fix this problem. But Assamese and People in NE are not happy about this. Except that the CAB was brought in in 2016, long before the Assam NRC happened. And, it was passed by Lok Sabha in January this year, before the Assam NRC results came out. Assam had good reason to burn for at least a couple of decades now. Why it didn't burn is a mystery, perhaps a bit of false hope that the Union government would play ball. With the CAB those hopes are completely dashed. By the way, it is not proper to call those people "illegal" until a tribunal determines so. The guy is a Guwahati lawyer and lawyers are trained POV pushers. They pick and choose selective facts to make their case, ignoring other inconvenient facts. I have no idea why we are even reading it and discussing it.

We do know that the BJP tends to regard the Muslim immigrants as "infiltrators" and the Hindu immigrants as "refugees". But we have no idea whether it can manage to pass off all the Hindu exclusees of the NRC as "refugees". The Intelligence Bureau has said that there are stringent conditions for claiming persecution. It depends on when his parents came to India. Anybody that came before 26 January 1950 was automatically a citizen of India (see Indian nationality law). What happened to people that came afterwards is not clearly known. Nobody kept track of these things. My impression of the partition-migration is roughly like this:

Punjab and NWFP refugees came immediately after partition was announced.
Sindhis came a little more slowly, but I believe the majority of them came by 1950 anyway.
Balochis probably stayed put, except for a small number from Quetta.
East-Bengalis kept coming and coming for a long time. The Indian government as well as the West Bengal government looked the other way. The Assamese kept complaining but nobody listened. That is why we have an Assam problem now.

He cannot be countered, frankly speaking. There is a tendency in India to brand everything you don't like as being "unconstitutional". But the constitution doesn't dictate policy. The policy has to be fought on the political field, not on the constitutional field.

Only the Supreme Court can decide if it is constitutional or not, and I think even it would be split right down the middle. So I am not going to venture to predict. Even if the Supreme Court decides it is unconstitutional, it is easy enough for the Government to fix it by adding Muslims to the list. Does it make a difference? Kautilya3, yes I noticed it yesterday but thank you for pointing it out. EPW is a good and well known journal. I do try to keep a tab of where the photographs I put on Wikipedia end up:

The picture landed up here too.
An article written by Ramchandra Guha (who was all over the news yesterday) had a picture of mine of the National Archives of India.
The pictures have also found their way into The Wire (related to Bihar Museum) and The Print (related to IAS) too and The Telegraph India and in Brut India FB (related to Vikram Sood) and a pic of a Delhi Fire Service truck found its way here.
A picture of Kathua Rape Case protests found there way here among other places and so many blogs such as these 1, 2, 3
Over approx forty different websites have used the pictures I've uploaded here.

Every now and then I've also been following the text usage of Wikipedia articles by the Indian media. That is even more interesting sometimes. But now it is kind of boring following all this as it was originally. But yes, it's always nice to see the pictures flying around. But the trend on Wikipedia based on some of the conflict pages that i have participated, seems to be that editors here generally put their faith on "international media". That they (some of these international media) have an axe to grind in spreading and supporting the misinformation or they do it unknowingly is generally overlooked. DTM can you self revert your last edit. That bengali editors edit is not vandalism. A talk page discussion named Background has been going on and the consensus is to get rid of that section. @DBigXray: thanks for sharing this link! This is such an interesting set of events. The tweet of course is interesting in itself in so many ways, I read the vandalism and it is LOL, the comments on the tweet by users are also revealing... and the Times of India did an article on this - UP Police’s Wikipedia page ‘vandalised’.(TOI). I will put this in the media section that Wikipedia has for media mentions Wikipedia:Press coverage 2019... and the article of UP Police really needs sorting out. But what is also ~~of concern~~curious is the PDP Bill 2019 and Wikipedia writes to IT Minister: New govt guidelines will severely disrupt our model DTM (talk) 06:02, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
