Hello, I reverted your closure of this afd. I provided an explanation on the page. Jerry delusional ¤ kangaroo 02:41, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you bothered to read the closing decision that I offered, you will have noticed that there were two reasons for my NAC -- the second reason, which you ignored, was the fact the AfD nominator complained about a no-sourced article and another editor provided more than enough reliable sources to confirm its notability. Coupled with the fact this was heading in a unanimous Keep (which included statements by other editors that supported the notability of the subject matter), I believe my judgment was correct. I stand by my NAC as being a proper decision. Ecoleetage (talk) 03:15, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
For the record, this AfD was closed again by an other admin about one hour after my NAC was improperly reverted. I consider this to be a vindication of my judgment. Ecoleetage (talk) 03:45, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry if you were offended by my comments, but if you wish to make non-admin closures, expect criticism of your actions. If you find criticism of your actions "insulting" then perhaps you should not be performing admin-like activities. Regards, Mattinbgn\talk 06:54, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When someone offers "criticism," I expect them to know what they are talking about. You obviously misread the NAC rationale and passed judgment based on your POV on the notability of high schools. As I stated earlier, my judgment has been confirmed. Thank you and be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 11:04, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of course it was my POV, what other POV would I have about your closure? In my view it was a poor rationale (and I have read it several times) and I stand by that. If you feel the eventual closure vindicates your decision to NAC, then fine. Note that I accepted your close: I did not ask for it to be reopened, I did not comment again in the AfD when it was reopened and I had no plans to take it to DRV. In fact I did not even !vote to delete the article in the first place! I have no general problems with articles on high schools and I am not a deletionist on high school articles. (see Our own school) I don't even disagree with the decision to keep the article. Its just that the "inherant notability" argument that you (at least partly) relied upon is bogus and should not be used to close AfDs as it is abundantly clear that it does not have consensus per WP:SCHOOLS. Again, if you want to undertake admin tasks, expect to be told when others disagree with your decisions. Regards, Mattinbgn\talk 11:20, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problems with people who disagree with me, and my contributor history clearly shows I have no difficulty in acknowledging the error of my ways when one of my mistakes is identified. Thank you for sharing your opinion and enjoy the day. Ecoleetage (talk) 11:42, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The use of inflammatory language such as "bothered himself to", "disruptive", and the like are not appreciated. If you review these cases, you will see that I !voted to keep them, as I almost always do for high school articles, so my reversion was not conflict of interest, and certainly not disruptive. I certainly read your entire closing rationale, and my reversion rationale applies to all of your closing rationale. I agree with the outcome, just not your closure. Please read WP:NAC (which I wrote), it defines the cases and criteria where non-admin closure is appropriate. Your closure was not proper because you used new arguments not already the consensus of the existing discussion to base your closing. This is a big no-no. The fact that another person closed it the same way you did does not vindicate your closing rationale or indict my reversion. Your closure was wrong, and my reverting it was right. If you want to introduce new arguments into an AFD then participate by !voting. If you want to close AFD's, then follow the consensus procedure in the deletion policy, as described and referenced in WP:NAC. Please refrain from closing AFD's until you fully understand and are willing to follow policy. Jerry delusional ¤ kangaroo 23:27, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The fact an admin closed the AfD with the same rationale used by a non-admin (myself) exposes the poverty of the argument against my action. And the claim that "new arguments" were introduced into the closing statement reconfirms my earlier comment about the closing statement being misread. If you wish to argue with the admin who supported my decision, you have that option. I stand by my action and respect your right to voice your opinion. Thank you and be well. Hi Eco! I want to thank you about your message. I didn't know that kind of rule, and I can't find it in wikipedia Italy. (I don't also know if this way of contacting you is right... I hate technology!) I am in the O.U.C.H Italy, and me and my group, helped by 2 neurologist, decided to write "Cefalea a Grappolo" because no one in Italy did before. I am in the Scientific Commitee of the Ouch and I tried to be more scientific as possible (I'm not a doctor). Now I'm trying to write the sources, and it's very difficult... Connecticut[edit]

Yes I'm very impressed by your variety of contributions. This is how a "real" encyclopedian should be. Looks a lovely place. The "New England" area of the states is beautiful. Never been to that area, but my parents say it is stunning. Keep up the good work amigo. P.S. I was only reading that holocaust article yesterday and was only thinking what a great article it was. I had no idea you mostly wrote it. Wow thats quite excellent. You seem to be greatly maturing as a writer on here. Count Blofeld 11:31, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, no! I cannot take that credit. There was an original article that was tagged as copyright violation. I rewrote the entire article, sentence by sentence, in order to erase the problems in the original text. But I was not alone -- there was input from Piotrus, Poeticbent and Moonriddengirl, among others. I could never take full credit for that -- this was a full collaboration. And, yes, New England is a lovely part of the USA. Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 11:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Eco, I enjoyed reading your new article Cenere. Nice work! You've written many articles about films. Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 20:56, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. BTW, I and Balloonman were discussing about your second RFA. I think your RFA 2 should have passed. Are you interested in running for adminship again? Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 08:18, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Eco, please don't get angry. There were many false things said about you during your RFA. This is a sad thing about RFA. Many people use it to settle old scores. You have every right to get angry, and I understand your feelings. You are a successful Wikipedian who has started and developed many articles and also contributed 50+ DYKs. When you are successful, people will try to pull you down. But, there are many people who recognize your hard work and your commitment to the project. There are positive people on Wikipedia, so it is best to avoid negative people, and work with positive people. If you ever run for adminship again, I'll support you. Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 13:36, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Li Yong[edit]

Thank you for the copyediting! ~the editorofthewiki (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 22:26, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is practically a matter of luck that the article was started in the first place. Looking through the Agencia Brazil archives for free photos, I happed upon a photo of Li Yong and some Brazillian guy. I promptly upoloaded it and added it to Li Yong. About two days later User:M.R.Forrester notified me that our Li Yong was not the Li Yong with an article! To solve a major ambiguation mess (or to give my image a chance to be seen) I created this Li Yong and wanted to expand it to DYK status. He certainly led a very boring life, and I could not find much outside of he said this/he said that! ~the editorofthewiki (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 00:36, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish immigration to PR[edit]

Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you liked it. I want you to be the first to know that the Puerto Rican Government is going to recognize Isabel Gonzalez, whose article I wrote, as the "Puerto Rican "Rosa Parks". This is the amazing story of a young woman who stood up her rights and took on the United States government and won (in 1906). She had slipped into the cracks of history and was forgotten by everybody. No one, I mean no one had ever heard of her. I accidentally ran into her case while researching for another article and I had to write her story. I requested my government contacts to do her justice and I was informed that thanks to my story she will soon be recognized as a historical figure. What do think of that? Why I will oppose your next RFA[edit]

Hey, thanks for the welcome spam on my talk page. Before blindly wishing me "happy editing", did you bother to look at the quality of my contributions? Obviously not, since you didn't bother to revert any of them. I can tell by your edit history that you're aiming for an RFA in the near future, please count on my strong opposition on the basis that you are so blinded by your desire for "power" in the form of an admin bit that you are willing to commit countless hours of brainless activities that will look good on your next RFA. Let's see... AFD activity. Check.... Collaboration activity. Check.... Welcoming committee. Check. (oh, what an excellent example of WP:AGF by welcoming Banks0000). Cool, even some AIV activity today. Looks like an all-around productive day on Wikipedia. Too bad it's so superficial. Dumbass. We don't need admins like you, please don't bother. Try making some productive edits to the encyclopedia. Expand a stub. Write a featured article (trust me, THAT is a real rush). You're getting it all wrong. Banks0000 (talk) 05:47, 15 November 2008 (UTC) (p.s., thank you for the reminder about using four tildes to sign my talk page edits. Before now I hadn't edited any talk pages but it sure came in handy now!).[reply]

I liked his comment about writing articles, particularly the "expanding stubs" part. Apparently, either he isn't very observant, either that or he thinks you're lying. J.delanoygabsadds 06:03, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not even sure I even understand the basis of his anger towards you Eco. RockManQ (talk) 06:05, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, there are plenty of people who -- if given the chance -- would gladly clobber me with a shovel. Still, we have to be positive. At least he was appreciative that I taught him how to sign a talk page...though, at this point, the lesson may not be all that practical. Ecoleetage (talk) 06:09, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback[edit]

Thanks for your input at my successful Rfa. I'm already thinking about working on my content creation. Hopefully in a few months, I'll have passed the point where you would've !voted Support. Thank you for thinking of me, and I do need to start learning that particular skill; this will be a good spur to do so. But I have to admit that particular subject matter isn't my cup of tea. There's a lot of variance within the continuum of that material, and that's rrreally not one of my usual subcategories. (Yes, I am trying to be oblique.) ^_^ arimareiji (talk) 22:51, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment[edit]

Please see the associated thread at ANI. The non-English comment on his talk page is a warning regarding 3RR from Piotrus. His own edit summary here [2] shows him to be well aware that edit warring is prohibited. I'm curious as to why you think yet another warning would have more effect? Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:39, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am from Mozambique -- I don't read Polish, so I have no idea what is on his talk page. His edit summary was a warning to Malik Shabazz about 3RR -- he was showing someone the courtesy of warning that Malik had problems at hand. And why do I think yet another warning would have more effect? For starters, Radek received no initial warning from any neutral admin, let alone another one. Also, this is clearly a very sensitive subject to the various editors engaged here, and it is bringing out the worst in people -- I think Angus and Boodles have been equally uncivil in making fun of others, yet they are not being blocked (I didn't appreciate Angus calling my work "dreadful" -- of course, he is an admin and no other admin is going to touch him). Locking the page was a proper course of action, penalizing a single editor without advance warning that his specific actions are problematic, I believe, is not. Ecoleetage (talk) 11:47, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. it needs to be pointed out that Radek's last edit was at 1:12am, the article was locked at 7:09am, and Radek was blocked at 7:12am. Six hours passed between the final edit and the block, and Radek was blocked three minutes after it was impossible for him (or anyone) to do further edits. Considering it is now impossible for anyone to engage in edit warring on that article and that Radek was not cited for edit warring elsewhere, the block against Radek can be seen strictly as punishment rather than prevention of a continued edit war on that specific article. You seem to be dead set on reading my comment to Boodlesthecat as an attack on you and your work. If that's what you want to think, that's your privilege. As for me, I'm not sure how you can suppose that you'd be one of the believers who'd make a travesty of the article. As you say, you're from Mozambique and have no dog in the fight. And as for it being dreadful article, what else would you call it, what with the edit-warring, bickering, axe-grinding, threads at the administrators noticeboard, blocks, page protection and all? And all entirely predictable given the cast. Angus McLellan (Talk) 14:07, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would call it a "work in progress" that has already been cited with a DYK and a spot on the Wikipedia home page. And, quite frankly, I have a huge dog in the fight -- the article. I am sick of seeing both sides bickering and calling each other names. Getting lost in the shuffle is the actual story of brave people who stood up at a time when it was more convenient to hide. I want their story told, in proper historical context and with all of the facts presented in a scholarly manner. I rewrote the entire copyrightvio-pegged article because I wanted the subject presented properly. That's my foundation at the base of the current article. I don't believe the article is "dreadful." What is dreadful is the attitude of too many people who prefer a good fight to a good article. Ecoleetage (talk) 14:19, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, WP:UAA is not the place to report problem users. If you feel the user page is a violation of Wikipedia policies, you should list it on Miscellany for Deletion. SNOW[edit]

Hi. Five or six keeps is not SNOW; nine is disputable. One was an inappropriate close, the other was disputable. Please reopen both and relist for full discussion or I will have to ask WP:DRV to do so. Thanks. --Justallofthem (talk) 14:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I was just in the process of commenting on one of the cases, after having gone out for a couple of hours, only to find that the discussion had been closed. Closure was premature, some of the Keep arguments were flawed; please give it a little more time. Cheers, Jayen466 16:19, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As an admin who happened to notice this, nine keeps and no other votes is surely not disputable. Five or six, maybe. In looking over the two discussions and the articles, I would have closed as speedy keep, but either way. لennavecia 16:57, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You name and your articles[edit]

Dear Eco,

I read this on Jennavecia's talkpage. I was also wondering about your username. I pronounced your name as 'Eco Lee Tage'. Now I will pronounced it as 'Eco Lee Taj' (Taj, as in Taj Mahal). :-) Very interesting story, thanks for sharing it with us.

You have written many articles about movies. The Blood of Jesus and The Girl in Room 20 are two new articles started by you, and both are interesting. Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 12:29, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You developed The Blood of Jesus.[3] Although you didn't started it, you did the major work. You are a positive guy. Whenever I talk with you, I feel great! Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 16:44, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I figured your name had something to do with the French word école (school) and the German word Tage (days)...school days. :-/ Cosmic Latte (talk) 17:26, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ugandan rabbi[edit]

Thanks for the heads up, but due to some rather limiting technical restrictions I won't be editing much. It doesn't help that the end of my first semester of teaching is coming to an end, and I'm surprisingly busy getting my students ready for their final projects. If I find some free time and manage to actually pick up my computer from the most inconveniently located repair store in LA, I'll try to look into it. --AniMate 04:17, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look[edit]

Hey Eco, how are you? I finished doing a complete overhaul of the Irish immigration to Puerto Rico which was among my first in the series. It is practically brand new. Take a look at it. I just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" for taking the time and effort to participate in my recent RfA. As you may know, the discussion closed 66/0/1 and I'm now a holder of the mop. I will keep working to improve the encyclopedia and appreciate the trust which you have placed in me. - Dravecky (talk) 23:58, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incredible[edit]

Could you believe that the "Irish immigration to Puerto Rico" article failed the "DYK" nomination because of some "unwritten" rules. Despite the fact that this article was rewritten and expanded to the extent that it can be considered practically "new" and that the "old" version was never nominated for 'DYK". This discourages me from nominating future articles for "DYK" and is one the reasons that I stopped nominating the articles which I have written for "FA", "GA" and "FL". However, what is really important is the positive views which the article has received by its readers in regard to its educational values. Isn't that something? Thank you for your constructive comment regarding my first DYK nomination ever. I believe I've made modifications to avoid the citation issue you referenced, but how do you think the hook should be reworded? Say it's "arguably" or "believed to be" the largest pageant?
