Re Contested deletion of Salon du livre anarchiste[edit]

Doesn't this sounds like an advertising to you?: bookfair offers works that are published both traditionally or DIY, including zines, pamphlets, and posters. In addition to the bookfair, the event offers film screenings and educational workshops. The fair also invites a keynote speaker each year. Like, in my opinion company bio would have been much better then just a list of what it offers. And the two links aren't references, they suppose to be external links.--Mishae (talk) 13:25, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • It isn't a perfect article, but I think the event is notable. Wikipedia needs more articles about notable book fairs. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 23:58, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Eastmain: I see that you removed the G13 deletion template from the above article. I had already checked it out, found the hidden text, determined that it was a single edit copy-paste by the same editor as the article in mainspace, and so there was no article history to be preserved. Do you object if I now nominate it for deletion again? There's no useful content that isn't already in the other article. —Anne Delong (talk) 05:53, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for your message. I have tagged it for speedy deletion myself. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 09:40, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Great. There doesn't seem to be a way to leave an explanatory message (or in this case of unblanking the text) when nominating one of these G13 eligible articles for deletion without editing the article, which then removes the G13 eligibility category tag. Diligent editors such as yourself thus have no way of knowing what the nominator has already checked, which occasionally leads to some duplication of effort. This is a minor problem, however, and the rescuing/deleting of old Afc drafts (Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/G13 rescue) is going fairly smoothly. Only 46,000 more to go... —Anne Delong (talk) 12:38, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Declining of deletions[edit]

So, my guess is even if I am the author of the article as G7 says, I still have no right to delete them? If so, where is logic?--Mishae (talk) 03:44, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • G7 only applies if you are the only one to have made substantial contributions to the article. If other people have made substantial contributions, then G7 does not apply.
  • But even if you are the only one to have worked on the article, you should consider that other people may be able to improve the article. Since all species are notable, there is no risk that an article on a species of beetle will be deleted for a lack of notability. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 03:49, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Over one year, no improvement have been made and it drags too much on a server. Why fixing typos then adding a content then adding something else, when I can delete it, and reinstate it, only with one edit! Does that makes sense? Now, don't get me wrong, I was acting in good faith, while your declining is not in good faith in my opinion.--Mishae (talk) 03:53, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • There's nothing wrong with a stub article. If you or someone else can improve it, so much the better. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 03:56, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I've raised this matter at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive815#User:Mishae's deletion nominations. Mackensen (talk) 04:37, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can't believe how pathetic user Mackensen is! Now I will probably get blocked just because of one mistake. This is ridiculous!--Mishae (talk) 04:56, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

Dear Eastmain, thank you so much for explaining to me the reason behind declining of my speedy deletion rather then go to AN/I. I didn't read the article in the Russian Wikipedia prior your post, so I must admit I was wrong. Do however note, that currently I did it not for space sake, but of notability concern. You see, there are certain reasons why deletion template does exist, and Wikipedia might have some article on non-notable individuals. The only thing is to find them and this is probalbly not the best way (a PROD would have been better but I sometimes have technical issues with it, so I don't use it). Someone did explained to me that if an article have only one sentence (especially if its a biography, let alone on a living person), then it qualifies under A7 criteria. Though I must admit that over here I was wrong (again). Again, I would like to thank you for explanation, for adding honours, for pointing me to the article improvement (though I must say, I am currently busy), and for not sending me straight to AN/I!--Mishae (talk) 22:41, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Merton College (London) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

What makes this more notable than either of their other campuses?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi there. I see you changed the lede of this article from "an independent company" to "an independent regulatory agency" and then unspeedied it. I'm totally fine with having the speedy contested (I find A7 the most nebulous and hard-to-pin-down of the criteria, which is why I tagged but didn't do the delete), but I was wondering where your company -> agency change came from, because that definitely makes a difference to me, as well. It's unclear to me, reading the company/agency's website, which it is; were you able to find other information (or read Serbian) that cleared it up? A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 13:07, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Fluffernutter: The Energy Regulatory Office is listed in List_of_energy_regulatory_bodies under "Energy Regulators Regional Association" as "UNMIK: Energy Regulatory Office of UNMIK Kosovo (Associate Members)". On the agency's page at http://www.ero-ks.org/ , click English, and you'll see that the text is consistent with it being a regulatory agency. I think that the original reference to it as a company was a translation error. Perhaps a quasi-judicial tribunal like this one is considered a company in Serbian or Albanian.
  • There's another issue that I haven't dealt with yet. Poland also has a regulatory agency called the Energy Regulatory Office, and Hungary's is called something similar, suggesting that we will eventually need a disambiguation page at Energy Regulatory Office with the current article moving to Energy Regulatory Office (Kosovo). Perhaps all the agencies listed at List_of_energy_regulatory_bodies ought to have articles eventually, but creating those articles would be a lot of work.
  • I hope this makes sense. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 14:06, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Eastmain. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Professional and Technical Consultants Association".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Professional and Technical Consultants Association}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 23:25, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I thought that I should notify you regarding the Cliff's Amusement Site article. You were the first editor on the page that continues to have a talk page. A majority of information on the page seems to be bias in favor towards the management/owners of the park. I've done my best to remove the information I can, but what's left is still primarily uncited and doesn't meet Wikipedias guidelines.

In the talk notes, you contested the last time the page was up for deletion. It has been nominated again, and if you think that it can be fixed, I'd love to hear your input.

Nomination of Cliff's Amusement Park for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Cliff's Amusement Park is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cliff's Amusement Park until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Kolbybotka (talk) 23:50, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Brent Bambury[edit]

Ever since I discovered earlier this year that my Toronto Public Library membership card gives me automatic right-from-home access to ProQuest's Canadian Newsstand Major Dailies database, I've been on a major referencing-improvement binge. Today I hit up Brent Bambury, and noted your past talk page post noting that you had circumstantial evidence that he might have attended Dalhousie University — and with my newfound treasure trove of top-notch reference sources, I was able to confirm that indeed, he did.

The best part of this is that your request was posted exactly one year ago today. Almost like an anniversary or something! Bearcat (talk) 06:10, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eastmain. Thank you for trying to save this article when I posted it earlier as a live article. I am new to this game, so only worked out later that it is best to take the draft route, so deletion of the live article is not a problem. CSD G13[edit]

I am currently tagging articles in Category:G13 eligible AfC submissions with {{db-g13}} however I noticed on some drafts, such as Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/American Technion Society, you removed the CSD tag AND moved the page to the Drafts namespace. Could you explain the need for this when you haven't even edited the draft at all (the example given was primarily edited by Ersilverbush)? - RichT|C|E-Mail 19:53, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Rich Smith: The topic appears to be notable, so the draft should not be deleted. In general, if the topic is notable, you should postpone the AfC submission rather than tagging for {{db-g13}} so that some other editor can make the draft publishable. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 20:22, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
G13 is quite clear. If the article hasn't been edited in 6 months then it can be tagged G13, as long as it has been rejected or non-submitted. Nothing to do with being notable... also hence why WP:REFUND/G13 exists. G13 is unique because it's instant undelete on request - RichT|C|E-Mail 20:33, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Rich Smith: You are correct about what G13 permits. The question is what course of action is in the best interests of the project. If the draft is hopeless, then there is no harm in deleting it. On the other hand, if the topic is notable, then postponing deletion so that the draft can become an article (and perhaps editing and resubmitting the article yourself) is a way to help the project. WP:REFUND/G13 is of little value if nobody knows about the deleted submission. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 20:42, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Eastmain: "WP:REFUND/G13 is of little value if nobody knows about the deleted submission." - And keeping the draft is of little value of nobody knows about it existing (as a rejected or non-submitted draft doesn't appear in any maintained lists) - RichT|C|E-Mail 21:03, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are you going to edit these drafts anytime soon ? A simple Yes or No will suffice. Nick (talk) 21:11, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews[edit]

Hello Eastmain. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).[reply]

ADL as Reliable?[edit]

I don't believe an Anti-Defamation League website, as you indicated here can be classified as a WP:Reliable source. How do you feel about this? Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 04:04, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • An advocacy group with a reputation for reliability, such as the ADL or the Southern Poverty Law Center, can be a reliable source. In this case, it is possible that the information is out of date and the paragraph about the skinhead group should indicate that it was present in the past but not today. Of course, some advocacy groups are not reliable sources of information. Evaluating sources is a judgement call. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 07:35, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of TG21[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on TG21, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Elgin Children's Chorus[edit]

Hi, Eastmain! Way back in 2014, a user who's had an overzealous deletion history towards me tried to delete my article, Elgin Children's Chorus, and you saved the day by reverting it. First of all, I guess I never thanked you for that. So, Thank you!!! I had just joined Wikipedia at the time, and honestly didn't know how it worked. Well, that same article is at risk for deletion again, and I was wondering if you'd come to the rescue again. I would appreciate it so much! I've been bullied a lot on Wikipedia, and all of my edits are in good faith. I love your blurb on your user page about being a good example and fixing articles that are in danger of being deleted. I wish that there were more users out there like that too. WikiConqueror (talk) 07:29, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts on my other pages[edit]

Hey, Eastmain! I really appreciate your help with the Elgin Children's Chorus page. I really hate to bother you again, but I have a few other pages up for deletion, and I was wondering if you'd mind taking a look at them. They are: Jay Kellner, The Planets Gala Concert with Leonard Nimoy, West Suburban Home School Band, and A Concert of Remembrance. Thank you for being so helpful! Proposed deletion of Computer University, Pakokku[edit]

The article Computer University, Pakokku has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable source has been shown for existence - "official site" given is dead link.

Ways to improve Truro Junior High School[edit]

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Gab4gab (talk) 01:36, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on 21st century technology plc requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Hello, Eastmain. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Noveko International has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't meet Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A silly action[edit]

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

With respect to Draft:Reportazh mbi Kryeqytetin e Shqipërisë, declining a CSD:G13 nomination only to AFC review the page and decline the AFC review because it's not written in English does not help the author. Please read over WP:BURO and WP:IAR to realize all your actions did was to kick the deletion down the road 6 months on something that was going to be deleted anyway.
