Can you write the reason for the tag on M101 howitzer

I am just simply writing the historical event based on the interview from people involved in the weapon project. I originally wrote it on KH178 105 mm Towed Howitzer, but decided to put it on M101 as it was more to license producing and gives background detail of the event rather than no explanation. Historical service for other nations, especially the US, should be added and hope for it, but it won't be done by me at the moment. Kadrun (talk) 08:49, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Hey!

Why did you revert my edit from List of centenarians,I gave so many sources yet you did it Can you provide why you revert it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.137.24.62 (talk) 17:32, 28 February 2022 (UTC) 1. You included Bakeman who doesn't belong on any of the centenarian lists. 2. You added the entries out of order. 3. You added irrelevant citations to other entries. 4. None of the citations for Bermudez prove that he celebrated his 100th birthday.

You can put Ecchevarria back in, in the correct place, as his citation is (just) acceptable. I don't have time to do that now. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 17:39, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

List of the verified oldest people: Revision history

Hi DerbyCountyinNZ, may you please let me know why did you revert my edit (see below)? 17:22, 8 March 2022‎ DerbyCountyinNZ talk contribs‎ 70,990 bytes −846‎ Undid revision 1075939731 by Pseudo-Welscher (talk)Rvt. Outdated, and these articles are not based solely on GRG data.

I'm sorry, but if the data are outdated, that's not the problem of the person providing a graphical depiction (as the data are here to be read anyhow!). If the-said data are outdated and/or do not all come from GRG data, blame the editor who did that, but 'not' the one who tries to provide clarity and reading-friendliness via a graphical depiction. I think that a graph helps to comprehend an article, especially when the article is mainly composed of bulky charts. If the data are not GRG-based and/or outdated, don't revert the graph, invite the editor to update them; ==> and I'll gladly provide an updated graphical depiction, based on updated data accordingly. But reverting my edit, because the data are outdated is quite discouraging (especially as it took some time to process those data in order to generate pie charts), unfair (as I am merely using what is existing and unquestioned so far) and does not promote wiki-edits, not to mention that it puts into question the whole article! => If the data are not workable, then why keep the article at all?!

For the record, I am not angry. Just disappointed and somewhat bemused... :-(

Thank you. Pseudo-Welscher (talk) 11:16, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi. You deleted Jean Bell Thomas from List of centenarians (musicians, composers and music patrons) on the grounds that her centenarian status was not confirmed. Please review these links. If they meet with your approval, can you please restore the Thomas entry to the List. Thanks:

65.88.88.200 (talk) 20:04, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

The Arts and Culture citation cannot be used as it cites Wikipedia as a source. Findagrave cannot be used as it is unreliable. This leaves no reliable source for her actual date of birth and therefore still no certainty that she was 100 or more when she died. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 05:19, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
I know findagrave.com is not considered a reliable source but the image of her crypt (4th image of 4, scrolling) should be. Also, what about the Kentucky Country: Folk and Country Music of Kentucky reference, which has a url? Yours, 107.122.161.16 (talk) 17:25, 9 April 2022 (UTC) (Same editor, using my cell phone. Going to library later, hopefully.)

Re your removal of Reinhardt from list of miscellaneous centenarians, the fact is she does have an article and you have not moved to AFD it. Also she has a German language Wikipedia article ([2]). Yours, 107.122.161.16 (talk) 17:08, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Irrelevant. The criteria for inclusion in the centenarian lists is that the person was notable before they got old. The fact that Wikipedia has been around for 20 years and no-one bothered to write an English wiki article about her until after she died indicates that she would not have had an article if she had died much younger, therefore she does not merit inclusion. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 20:40, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the improvement. I wasn't sure how much notability needed to be asserted. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:04, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

What is your opinion regarding this revert? I was removing blatantly POV/OR text/claims. I left a note with the editor (Wesoree) who made the revert but I am curious as to your opinion. Thanks. I'll check back here for your reply. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:08, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

The revert was unjustified. Take it to the article talk page and if Wesoree does not reply or does not give an adequate justification for their revert, remove the content again and if they revert take them to WP:ANI. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 22:16, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

RE: Arnold Yarrow's centenarian status ([3]), how is this link? Yours faithfully, 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:16, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

No good, the writer of the article is referring to a 2013 interview. That is no proof he was actually alive on his 100th birthday. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 22:18, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you reverted this edit in List of centenarians (actors, filmmakers and entertainers) for Rvt. Not proof she was alive on her 100th birthday.. Following this discussion in ANI (not directly related to you) I've restored it as it's still arguably better than IMDb, although if you feel the sourcing doesn't warrant an inclusion in the list at all then I'm not opposed to removing it (I'm not entirely sure of the policies here). Thanks FozzieHey (talk) 20:49, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

This source is a standard "These people were born on this day and we haven't heard that they're dead so, assuming they are still alive, it would be their (xxth) birthday". This is not evidence that the person is in fact still alive. The requirement for inclusion in the list, per previous consensus, is that there is a reliable source which conclusively states that the person was alive on their 100th birthday. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 21:54, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
If there is clear consensus on that then I think you should just remove the entries cited to IMDb per WP:IMDB (if you have time obviously, I won't at the moment as I'm not fully aware of the consensus), there seems to be very little point in reverting revisions adding these sources if they're being reverted straight back to IMDb. Succession boxes are only for clearly defined and recognised successions: Official positions, award winners, record holders etc. There is no official title of "Oldest state leader" so the use of succession boxes is not appropriate. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 09:59, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Again, so sorry what I could use instead? SPEEDYBEAVER (talk) 14:06, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Any kind of succession is WP:OR. Unless there is a WP:RS mentioning that anyone is or was the oldest living state leader it should not be included in the article at all. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 22:01, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

World Athletics and Oceania Athletics are often wrong when it comes to names. He is Sam Tanner and that is what his article should be named, just as Tomas Walsh is always referred to as Tom Walsh, except by ignorant commentators, which is why his article is Tom Walsh (shot putter). Janis Paige on List of centenarians (actors...)

Paige already appears in List of living centenarians. Also, as she clearly has not died, she must be alive. There is no other alternative, it is either one or the other. How do you know Micheline Presle was alive on her 100th birthday? Your reasoning for removal (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1114759285) seems bizarre.

Please restore.

Thanks. MurrayGreshler (talk) 05:05, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

List of Living Centenarians was resurrected after the occupation articles were created, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of living centenarians, and I have had no input since then so have no idea what the inclusion criteria are (I suspect they are pretty minimal). The Lists of centenarians by occupation articles on the other hand have always had the requirement that there is a reliable citation indicating that the person was alive on their 100th birthday. Fansites, or even generally reliable sites, which merely wish the person happy birthday with no evidence that the person was in fact alive on their birthday, are insufficient, even if they were certainly alive a few weeks ago. For more notable celebrities such as Paige one would expect an article in a mainstream publication shortly after her birthday, but I have found none so far. When one appears then she can be included. Maria Morera

Hi, are you okay? Obviously what I wrote was in line with Wikipedia's standards and is supported by numerous other pages on Wikipedia. Not sure what your problem is, but it's quite concerning. Morera is the second oldest person in the world, just as verifiable as her status as the oldest living Spaniard with the source provided. Daedal45 (talk) 01:48, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

No, what you wrote IS NOT in line with Wikipedia policy. As evidenced in countless discussions relating to longevity articles, including Afds, stating that a person is the xth oldest/oldest ever, MUST be supported by a reliable source stating this specific fact. Referencing a Wikipedia list, or even the GRG list of oldest people, is insufficient. Note that the 110 club is specifically excluded as a reliable source. If you want to state in her article that Branas "is the second oldest verified living person" (or words to that effect), you need to find a reliable source stating this. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 01:56, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
"Referencing the GRG list is insufficient" Oh yes, wise man of Wikipedia, please do tell more. You seem to make yourself out to be above these very highly regarded organizations who take their meticulous time verifying the authenticity of their claims. Morera is verified by the GRG and is included in numerous other lists you yourself preside over and confirmed. It's unfortunate I have to deal with you every time I edit in the gerontology space, but you love being the enforcer of rules, not the enforcer of logic. Daedal45 (talk) 02:04, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

Elizabeth Francis

Hi @DerbyCountyinNN, Since Elizabeth Francis was recently validated by LQ, is that enough to add her to the List of the oldest living people?

I believe as soon as someone is validated by GRG they can be automatically added.

Thanks. Rklingmann (talk) 19:24, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

I am not familiar with LQ. If it is a reliable source, i.e. not a blog, fansite or any sort of social media site, then it would probably be considered a WP:RS and she can be included. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 20:49, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
LongeviQuest (LQ) is a de facto replacement for GRG with many of the same people.
Please check out https://the110club.com/introducing-longeviquest-t28778.html. Rklingmann (talk) 21:21, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Just wondering: how was the edit that you reverted vandalism? I'd say that "professional" is an accurate description. Schwede66 03:27, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

If you check the user's edit history and talk page they have been reverted multiple times, sometimes more than once in the same article, including once by a bot. The edited pages are not new and something as obvious as "professional" is extremely unlikely to have been omitted without good reason (I can only assume that there is a policy or consensus somewhere that it is not appropriate). The user has received multiple warnings for making this exact edit. Despite this they have continued making this edit over a considerable number of articles. I consider people that continue to make the same edit despite being warned not to, especially without trying to justify it, as vandals. I also suspect they are a sock of Mackanbiljard who was warned for making exactly the same edits. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 03:43, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Can you please point to where it says only the top three is notable. It is common standard to include the top 10 in one-day and overall classifications as seen here Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cycling/Standard_cyclist_biography#Major_results. I see you've been reverting a few category additions made by an IP for being "Unnecessary parent categories." I've had a look at 2023 in the United States for example and that article also has these categories so I think that the IP is making the correct changes. Also, I've noticed they've been making these changes for about 6 hours straight (and sometimes making typos, so they aren't a robot) which is quite amazing. —Panamitsu (talk) 23:03, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
