Welcome!

Hello, Cookie90, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. National Film Awards[edit]

Can I suggest that rather than creating lots of different articles - National Film Award for Best Music Direction, National Film Award for Best Costume Design, etc. - with no context and no information, you create and add the information to each in turn? As these stand, an admin is likely to delete all of the articles before any data is added as they contain no useful information and no context. Thanks. --Whouk (talk) 13:59, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

National Film Awards[edit]

Ok. I was initially going to do that, but I thought people would come and want to add stuff, so I put the tables up first. :) I'll start adding information to the articles I've already created, and do them one by one from now on. Thankyou for your suggestions. :) Cookie90 14:07, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Thanks for cleaning up Thavamai.... But i think i didn't mess up anything with your cleaned up version. I know you did right thing there but i wanted the Title to be right one thats why i moved the article back and ofcourse with your changes.

You are doing a great Job, thanks for correcting me in Chemman challai. If you need any help catch me at my talk page. Also feel free to correct me whenever i make a mistake (if possible with a mesg at my talk page, just as you did now) After all we are human and prone to make mistakes.

Convincing New Contributors[edit]

You can see (at my talk page) what User:Prin had to say about contribution which i suggested. Lets try with few more who are making good contributions. Anyway let us continue our work, At one point of time they will join us. --M.arunprasad 05:48, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the old Classics, i wish you can add Veera Pandiya Kattabomman, which got an award for Sivaji at an International film festival. Let us rock the wiki with classics of tamil cinema for a while, and let the newbies take care of latest movies. what do you say ? do you have any other plans ? --M.arunprasad 06:01, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Enigma here[edit]

hello....the special jury awards and the special mention in Natioanl Film Awards is the same. you can refer to pg. 902 of Manorama Yearbook 2006...

URGENT[edit]

i can take my time n complete most of the national awards tables and remove mistakes too.....the only tables which i wont be able to update are the best film in regional languages

the special jury award/special mention which is the same award is not exclusive for feature films.....in fact i couldnt find even a single FILM that was given this award....all the awardees are actors, directors or technicians....refer to the table.....i'll complete it in a few minutes

REFER TO THIS TOO[edit]

ok jus read the pdf file for the national awards...the thing is that i referred to the mnorama yearbook where all the special awards r given under one section....out of my effectiveness, i have listed them all in the special jury award category. for eg., J philip got the special jury award while gurdas maan n pradeep nair were given special mention. what i can suggest now is that v rename the article of special jury awards as Special Jury Award / Special Mention. what do u hav as a solution??

if v go according to my solution of renaming the article: 1. v wont hav to separate special jury n special mention 2. every year there r 2-3 special awardees. v can keep all of them together 3. and it cannot be called inaccuracy because v're mentioning the article as 'Special Jury Award / Special Mention'

Unabale to proceed[edit]

actually i hav joined wikipedia only two days ago n i'm not sure how to rename the article. i think it happens via MOVE, but it says my account is too new to do so.

JUST another thing[edit]

are you sure that devi by satyajit ray recieved the golden lotus award and tied with bhagini nivedita in 1962? ihave referred almost all other websites, books and forums too. in 1962 only bhagini nivedita was awarded. plz see to it

Ilaiyaraaja[edit]

Hey, since you've been working on this page, I need your help. How does one: (i) Change the title of the Wikipedia article (the one in large letterings right at the top) (ii) Create links to this webpage if someone uses an different spelling for the title of a Wikipage (say, if someone keys in Ilayaraja or Ilaiyaraja or Ilaiyaraaja or Ilayaraaja, they still can reach this page)?

Cheers.Splashprince 05:43, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback. I'm allowing ample time for interested readers/editors to contemplate on the Ilaiyaraja name issue that has been brought up on the discussion page (it's rather annoying when several variants of his name crop up all over the article), but yes, no hurry there, we'll take our time on it. Appreciate you writing at length about the procedure to do that whatever thingumajik that you explained on my discussion page. Splashprince 12:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photo/picture: Cookie, there was a photograph of Ilaiyaraja behind this keyboard with infinite keys and set against a somewhat galactic background. I was at the Ilaiyaraja page a while ago and it has mysteriously vanished, with no trace of removal recorded in the page history. Would you know what might have happened? Splashprince 13:18, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cookie Wookie: You're about the only expert Wikipedian I know. Could you do me a favour sometime, perhaps when you've got extra minutes on your hand? Could you please go through the Ilaiyaraaja page for me? I did massive work on it, and hope you could provide some feedback or give some comments on it (if you have any, in the Discussion page). I would appreciate this muchos. And, if you can, probably alert a few other pro Wikipedians interested in Indian films/music to take a look too. Cheers. Hi Cookie. Just read your comments on my page about tabulating stuff. Nifty idea. I'm pretty much a newbie with Wikipedizing, and I just did what I could in my free time to improve the article. Managed to put through two requests for peer review! *phew* Not bad eh? I thought that this page was an interesting challenge to take up, given that reliable sources of information about the subject are far and few in between, and that squeezing out as much as I could from what I could get hold was a bit of fun. But I won't be Wikipedizing anymore so will leave this article in the good hands of other Wikiprofessionals (like yourself ;) So good luck with it! Splashprince 11:27, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bombay013.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bombay013.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. The line The music industry in India in general was going through a crisis with the retirement of older music composers and the lack of innovation in Indian film music is Totally WRONG and baseless. Image:Mia2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mia2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 07:02, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Marupakkam.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Marupakkam.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Image:Kuruthipunal.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Kuruthipunal.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Piravi.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Piravi.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 19:47, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Aaythaezhuthutitle.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aaythaezhuthutitle.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Thanks for uploading File:Alaipayutheypic1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Notice

The article G. Srinivasan (producer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article isn't notable enough to be on Wikipedia. Fails WP:GNG with no significant coverage. From my search, I can see that there are no sources present on the internet verifying his work except for news articles covering his death. Per WP:FAILN: Maybe merge the contents under the family of G. Venkateswaran / Mani Ratnam

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
