p.s. What you said about Green Day being punk is completely retarded. They are clearly pop punk and VERY different from Crass in both sound and attitude. The musical elements of both are entirely different as well. I highly suggest you watch the documentary about Crass, titled There is No Authority But Yourself. I've been wanting to write an article on a record label for a few weeks now (wanting meaning I haven't put any effort into it... yet) and I was just wondering if you knew any good places to search for sources about one. Tragic Hero Records

I read the article in Alternative Press - it was less of a full page article and more of a short seven question interview with the CEO. It was really only a half page since the top portion was just a picture of the CEO. I could try to get you a scan if you have seen it yourself quite yet. I know that this is a newly formed label (formed in 2005 according to the article) and it seems to have potential. Since, at this point, the label article would not be too much more than an intro, an infobox and a list of bands, and probably would not quite meet notability guidelines, there are a few other things you might be able to do. You could create category pages for Tragic Hero artists and/or Tragic Hero releases. You could also start an article for Tragic Hero Records as a user subpage and keep it there until it meets notability standards. I was thinking about doing that with a few upcoming artists myself. That is fair enough. I guess some might argue that the album info (records sold, track listing etc.) can be just placed on the artists page (in a subsection) though (but then again, that should apply for albums of all artists, and not just the lesser known ones). Ah and don't worry about that (articles getting deleted). The article count for wikipedia is only going up (10 million by 2030?) and the quality will likewise follow. Do not get yourself down. Hi Chubbles. First off, 'Thanks!' for caring enough to write something about the band Angst. That said, I had made some revisions, correcting and adding some info and noticed that you almost immediately changed my entries back to your original post, for the most part. I'm wanting to avoid a constant back & forth if possible, so I wanted to give you a heads up that I'll be changing some things back again (and adding things, now or later), as there are *HUGE* factual errors on the page. For example, Angst was NOT from Colorado, but San Francisco - the Instants and Angst were two different bands that shared members. How am I so certain of this? I was in the band(s)!

It is the nature of this project to be inconsistent and self-contradictory, since it is cobbled together by thousands of people with varying degrees of expertise. Regardless, Alesana plays screamo, among other things, and this is now sourced (though the whole business of sourcing genres, I would argue, is a waste of time). And there we are. It's phenomenally fatiguing to fight about this; you are one of thousands of people who repeatedly make genre changes to popular band pages. I have no issue with discourse between editors. I accept your comments though I think we disagree in general and that could be causing friction. I don't think Wikipedia should be the repository of every band you can think of. I think it's noble but redundant. Not every band who got a mention in the local rag should be given a page in an encyclopedia. It's clear music is your passion and you have extensive knowledge on the subject but it seems over-kill to put every band you can think of on Wikipedia even if it's a one sentence article. Don't you agree? Maybe you should actually develop articles beofre placing them on Wikipedia. That's what your sandbox is for. After a while the compulsive number of hapless entries is just turning the music project into static.

I disagree with using Allmusic as a source for citation. Yes - it's a valuable source of "information" but not a valuable source of editorial content. It therefore shouldn't be used to cite references. Also - I don't think a bands own web-site or a DVD should be cited.

Ultimately there is nothing I can do to curb your current zeal for maintaining and posting articles from bands at the local pub, but chances are I won't stop proposing many changes to them. I really have to ask you respectfully to improve the quality of your article citations and sources. Quality over quantity my friend.

By the way - you made a couple of good points in your comment to me. I'll improve my tagging of your articles with improvement templates that are more appropriate.

Well, it's unfortunate to hear that you have so little respect for what I use encyclopedias for. At the time I started, this project was woefully sparse on virtually every aspect of music I could think of - particularly jazz music, where thousands upon thousands of noted jazz musicians went unremarked upon. (This is still the case, but primarily for jazz musicians in non-English speaking countries; compare the German wiki's coverage in jazz.) I can't really see much merit in your argument that it's just cluttering things up or "overkill", since the same could be said for any subject - minor military figures or journalists, for instance.

Wiki still has yet to catch up even with major published music encyclopedias. The articles I write aren't on bar bands - though there are a few admitted bar bands I wish I could write articles about...but the ones I am writing on, I'm adding because they achieved some sort of recognition beyond the local pub.

I write stubs and don't often expand much upon them precisely because there was, and is, so much to do. I saw it as sort of planting seeds - creating a substrate for others, including anons (who can't write articles), to work on. Noting what was missing and definitively proving that it belonged here was the most efficient way to use my time. Why not quality and quantity, after all? I don't spend much time expanding things now because I am trying to stop being on this website so much.

As for DVDs, I think it depends on the material; Son Volt, for instance, released an album in 2005 with an additional DVD of interviews, and I think that's a fine resource. Were you referring to the DVD mentioned in The Cats? That's not really a source, more of a footnoted comment. Doesn't really matter to me if it's there or not, if it bugs you I don't mind you reformatting it or removing it. As for Allmusic - they have a raft of well-known authors (Richie Unterberger, Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Scott Yanow) and have published dozens of music encyclopedias. The site has long been accepted as a reliable source, and if you wish to contest that, you would probably want to start a centralized discussion somewhere. I'm happy to discuss issues with individual citations, if you think their information is wrong, but if you think the cite should be blackballed, well, I can't help you there.

Don't get personal Chub. My article about a journalist and "minor" military figure is unfinished, and in my sandbox (for development). It's also well cited and sourced. Not to mention the fact that I hardly think a person who accomplished the things noted in the article (and yet to be noted) is comparable to a band from XYZ town who got mentioned in a local newspaper. What do you think? Do you think his accomplishments make him minor? Interesting.

I question the move of "The Shells" to the disambig page "Shell". There are from what I can see only two entities that are "The Shells". And one of those (the modern band) is much more searched for than the other (a band from 60 years ago). So I thought the way that it was before was appropriate. Certainly if any one band member is searched for, they would be a "Shell" ... so it is fine for "Shell" to have a reference to the bands at the bottom. But a search for "The Shells" should, if I understand correctly, lead to the band that is far-more-searched, with a link at the top to the band of lesser current interest. Hi. I see that you also changed the name of the band from "modern" to "folk". I tnink that modern is the most helpful way to distinguish it from the band from 60 years ago. And "folk" is a mischaracterization -- if you wanted to go the long route I would suggest "pop/folk rock harmony trio" (perhaps harmony could be dropped). Also, I saw you reported the user, note that the user is unlikely to get indeffed, as IP accounts change (i.e. in a year someone else might have that account), but the longer the account vandalises the longer the blocks get, so it can get up to a year or even more in some cases.
