Just reverting what I felt was an unjustified edit. Wikipedia is about facts and Neutral Point Of Views (NPOV), not political correctness. Bob K 17:48, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

International Lutheran Council

Hello. Why did you remove the non-English language references in your efforts to alphabetize the list of synods in the ILC? These references were often used by multilingual Lutheran Wikipedians. They were also the few locations in the English language Wikipedia to find the cross-references and links to the non-English language articles. Why did you remove the references to the number of communicants for each of the synods? It was a useful barometer for travellers seeking fellow communicants in other nations. Also, in Taiwan, the English language self-reference to the nation, used by the people in Taiwan (not its current president), is "Republic of China on Taiwan." You changed this. Why? Do you care to restore these links and pieces of information that you removed on March 20? Thank you. Ep9206 14:16, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Good point. Generally it was to keep to the standard presentation of the various Lutheran organisations articles. And I noticed that the entries that had non-English language references were primarily Chinese language ones. Surely this and the statistics of the individual synods can be added in the individual article pages. I'd suggest that individual stub articles be added for synods that are not yet represented in Wikipedia. Nonetheless, I'll add them back into the article as you were right in terms of local identification.
I'm not sure I get your point about the name of Taiwan, it definitely was not a political statement of any sort .. just my attempt to make it as representative as possible within the syntax of the article. I did make one very obvious mistake though, I spelled Hong Kong as Hong King :P. The links were retained when I reformatted that part of the article. - Bob K 17:51, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
You lost the French and German language article references too. "Surely this and the statistics of the individual synods can be added in the individual article pages." I disagree. There is no need for an article on every single synod until the day someone is so-inspired. Until then, this may be the best location for the information. Ep9206 18:14, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Do feel free to add them on then. I have made some additional edits which might make it easier for you to add on. Bob K 18:55, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Bob. It looks more comprehensive than it was before. I am considering some appropriate spot within Wikipedia to list sizable mission churches in nations where independent synods do not yet exist. What do you think about the Wikipedia article "List of Lutheran denominations?" It looks redundant in some ways; yet exposes states of incompletion in both lists.Ep9206 04:35, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea. Give me more details about what you plan to do. I can help collaborate in this but to be fair, my current priority is to actually put up articles on the various denominations in my own country. I have actually been going around and making contact at the denominational offices for background info. But I'd love to help anyway :) -- Bob K 09:51, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Royal Armoured Regiment Malaysia.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Royal Armoured Regiment Malaysia.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

School Accreditation and ICAATS

Hello, I just wanted to post a response I sent to CaliEd as well concerningthe recent changes in the information in your post. I hope it will clear up any questions about why I made the changes. If you feel there is still need for discussion, please let me know and I will provide further verification of the information...Thanks

'Hello CaliEd, Thanks for the reply and I will try to be brief with my response. I did some investigating as you suggested and found the following information from the Internet...The information to which I referred in the edits was related to the National Consitution of India and certain Acts that were established for the purposes of minority-community populations within the country. I pulled this information is the Ministry of Human Resource Development http://www.education.nic.in/minority.asp under the Higher Education section of the website. The Act in question is The National Commission for Minority Educational Institution (Amendment) Act, 2004'

The Act states that minority-communities within the country are entitled to be supervised by agencies outside the scope of the Education Department and the UGC so that all people will have the same opportunity to have access to higher education. The Act allows for the creation and operation of entities that will basically function as accreditation agents under the strict supervision of the State and Central Government.

In addition I went to several websites listing the institutions which were considered blacklisted by several U.S. State Education Agencies that were listed in several of the articles posted in Wikipedia and the Trinity School of Theology and Apologetics nor ICAATS are not on their lists. I have no personal vendetta against you or others who have posted this information. I am only asking for fair representation of the information that is in the entry. I will seek to secure other documentation to further verify the information, however, it will be hard for you to argue against the Act of the National Constitution of India which in fact does support the existence of organizations like Trinity School and the organization which accredits them, namely, ICAATS...Thanks Tob55 03:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. I will leave this issue between you and CaliEd. Here's a suggestion. If you're able to get some documentary evidence from the school that supports your argument and perhaps get it scanned and uploaded somewhere, it would strengthen your case substantially. Cheers. Image:Episcopal USA.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Episcopal USA.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 15:12, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Royal Malaysian Navy Ensign.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Royal Malaysian Navy Ensign.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Unspecified source for Image:Malaysian Army Flag.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Malaysian Army Flag.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:09, 29 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jesse Viviano 07:09, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Lina Joy POV?

I wasnt trying to insert my POV, just merely trying to state the facts from the legal POV. Im not sure myself how we should word it. Lets try this:

  • yours: "Lina Joy, who was born Azlina Jailani, was a Muslim who converted to Christianity, claiming it came under her right to freedom of religion under Article 11 of the Constitution of Malaysia."
  • mine: "Lina Joy, who was born Azlina Jailani, is a Muslim who unofficially converted to Christianity, claiming it came under her right to freedom of religion under Article 11 of the Constitution of Malaysia."

Your version also seem like a POV based on how Joy perceive herself. Which should be correct. I think we should just insert "unofficially" for the sake of clarity of the article. So i suggest:

  • Lina Joy, who was born Azlina Jailani, was a Muslim who unofficially converted to Christianity, claiming it came under her right to freedom of religion under Article 11 of the Constitution of Malaysia. What u think?

I also think it should be "On 19 September 2005, the court ruled in a 2-1 majority decision against Joy.", with an 'a', rather than without. kawaputratok2me 10:27, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps the whole sentence itself is problematic and should warrant a total rewrite. Maybe this could be the way it can be written :

Lina Joy, who was born Azalina Jailani, claimed to have converted from Islam to Christianity, arguing that it came under her right to freedom of religion under Article 11 of the Constitution of Malaysia.

Agree with you on the adding an 'a' to the court decision sentence.
The reason why I would rather not use the term "unofficially" is because there is generally no such provision outside of Islam (and primarily due to its status as a state religion) and Azalina did have a certificate of baptism issued by a legal authority under the Roman Catholic church. I can understand how it can be controversial but it's better to stick with the facts here. - Bob K 12:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
ic. ya, that sounds fine. actually even the current one is OK. just that maybe we can add: "However the status of her conversion is currently not recognised by law". or something like that. kawaputratok2me 13:24, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
or maybe not, coz its already explained in preceding subheads. kawaputratok2me 13:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Malaysian_Armed_Forces_Insignia.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Malaysian_Armed_Forces_Insignia.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.

WikiProject:Malaysia collaboration of the Month is Malaysia

Hi there. Based on our votes, we have selected Malaysia to be our Collaboration of the month for October 2007. Please feel free to contribute and make suggestions to improve the article. Thanks! kawaputratorque 05:39, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Church of North India.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Church of North India.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:45, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Boys Brigade Anchor Emblem (Alt).png

Thanks for uploading Image:Boys Brigade Anchor Emblem (Alt).png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:13, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:Cc-by-2.5-my

A tag has been placed on Template:Cc-by-2.5-my requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:20, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
