Proposed deletion of Minetest[edit]

The article Minetest has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable game.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 03:09, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Minetest, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. CEDM[edit]

Firstly, no, it's not my responsibility to personally fix the POV problems in an article about a topic I don't have enough knowledge about to actually be able to adequately fix it — if you want the article to be kept, then it's your responsibility to create a keepable article. And secondly, if you're really planning to fix the article there are still other ways you can do that — such as submitting a proposed new article through the WP:AFC process, or creating it in your own sandbox at User:AKA Casey Rollins/CEDM. Bearcat (talk) 21:02, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, bygones. I'm not at all opposed to the creation of a good article about the genre, I assure you — it just wasn't appropriate in that state. When you've got an article ready, by all means let me know and I'd be happy to either move it into articlespace overtop of the protected page, or give you some extra pointers on how to improve it. Bearcat (talk) 21:14, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I made a couple of additional minor adjustments, but that's a much better job than before — so I've put it into place as a new article and removed the page protection again. Thanks for your efforts and cooperation! Bearcat (talk) 22:10, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. The further changes that I made were on the level of wording and grammar, and I didn't actually make any coding changes that should make the page difficult to edit — so at the moment I'm not actually sure how to fix the issue. Are you able to edit your sandbox version okay and the problem just applies to the article version?

I did get a notification yesterday that there was a problem with the coding of one of the reference templates. I just fixed that now, so try editing the page again just to see if that fixed your problem or not — but if you're still having it, the only other thing I can think of would be to post a request at WP:VPT (our forum for solving technical issues) to see if somebody with more technical expertise can help figure out the problem. Explanation of speedy[edit]

The reason I've deleted the page is that it had been deleted via AfD back in 2012. In order to get the page back on Wikipedia you absolutely must go through deletion review (WP:DRV) and request that it be restored. There's no way around that. If you do have new sourcing that would help establish notability then you can present it at DRV and other editors will decide if the page should be re-created or if the previous deletion should stand. They would have to be very, very strong sources in order to overturn the AfD, especially since it was so contentious. I know that you weren't there and you're not responsible for what other people did and said at the AfD but you will be going in there with a handicap because it got kind of heated- people are going to be on guard.

So what you need are basically sources in outlets like reviews by reliable websites/publications/etc that would pass muster at WP:RS/N. This means that routine database listings can't be used, nor can WP:PRIMARY sources like the official website. Not all reviews and articles are usable, as there are many that are posted in places that undergo little to no verifiable editorial oversight. Fedora Magazine looks like it'd probably be one of those sources that wouldn't be considered a RS because anyone can submit an article and there doesn't appear to be any editorial oversight to speak of. It doesn't mean that the site isn't popular, just that guidelines on usable RS on here are pretty strict. There are a lot of popular websites that aren't considered usable.

Offhand I'm not really seeing much out there that would show how it passes Wikipedia's admittedly very, very strict notability guidelines, so you may be fighting an uphill battle at DRV. It doesn't mean that it's impossible, just that at first glance it doesn't look like there's really a lot out there. The game does seem to have gotten some coverage from blogs, but not really from any that would pass WP:SPS. I just figured I should give you a bit of an in-depth reason as to why the page was deleted. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 11:41, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Also, I wouldn't go in saying that you're pretty sure that the game isn't notable, as this appears to be what you were saying on the talk page of the article. That's shooting yourself in the foot because you're pretty much saying "I know that this game doesn't pass notability guidelines and merits an article, but it should have one anyway." You'd pretty much be acceding the argument before you even made your case. A better way to do this would be to say something like "I acknowledge that there were previous concerns about notability and I understand how this could be the case since the game is pretty niche, but I do believe that there is enough coverage out there to prove notability." Not only does this come across as fairly civil, but it also acknowledges the previous concerns in a respectful manner. You'd then follow that up with the coverage that you've found and then briefly highlight how this coverage would be considered reliable and would establish notability. I'd probably recommend asking someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games for help in searching for sources and asserting what is or isn't a reliable source, although the reliable source noticeboard would also be invaluable with this as well. Hi AKA Casey Rollins. I have added a template to the draft you created at Draft:Connected (docu-series). Copying an existing article like this is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history. This is just a heads up to let you know. Disambiguation link notification for October 4[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited CBSN, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page HD. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your draft article, Draft:Upcoming4.me[edit]

Hello, AKA Casey Rollins. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Upcoming4.me".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 00:49, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What are you doing?[edit]

You make errors in formatting like [[Fireblazin|''Fireblazin'']], which is more correctly formatted ''[[Fireblazin]]'' and then add massing numbers of empty parameters like those here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=II_(Capital_Kings_album)&curid=47845920&diff=775088979&oldid=757545847 Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:04, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gumball season images[edit]

Please do not upload any more images unless you know what you are doing. While all the images are fine, I have to go through and actually clean them all up, add fair use rationales, and add the proper licensing tags. Images are taken very seriously here due to the copyright implications and if you do not know how to properly use the image templates it would be better if you ask for assistance in the future instead of attempting to do it yourself. You can request an image be uploaded at WP:Files for upload or, if you want, you can ask me directly. I'm also happy to teach you have to properly upload images if that is what you want. I'll go through and fix all the ones you just uploaded but please do not upload anymore until you know what you are doing. Thanks. --Majora (talk) 20:33, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Alex Kash requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. You have recently shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Is this due to my edits on Gab.ai, my reporting of Jorm, previous edits on other pages, or a combination of the three? I would like to know what I did that caused this punishment so that I can avoid further conflict in the future. AKA Casey Rollins Talk With Casey 06:02, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking as someone who helped craft the sanction mentioned above, I'll point out that this is in no way a punishment. Nothing has happened to you other than the fact that you have now been alerted to the sanctions. Only when an editor has been made aware of a sanction (eg by receiving an alert or giving one to another editor) are they covered by that sanction. As it says, it doesn't imply you've done anything wrong, only that you've edited in the area. Doug Weller talk 06:12, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Thank you! AKA Casey Rollins Talk With Casey 06:27, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your incorrect response to past complaints[edit]

There has been some controversy over the quote 'known for it's mainly far-right user base' on the talk page for the social media site Gab. Your response to the criticism was to add text explaining why it is known as an alt-right site. However, this was not a complaint. The original complainer PaulCHerbet complained about the statement that it's known 'for it's mainly far-right user base' not any hypothetical statement that it's known as alt-right. The reason he was complaining was that the embedded claim within the statement that Gab's user base is mainly far-right has no relevant sources cited, never mind whether the sources are reliable or not. Not one of the 3 citations even claim that Gab has a mainly far-right user base, and so this claim should not exist on the page as it is entirely unfounded and un-cited. Two subsequent complainers made this position more clear because I grant you Paul wasn't very clear on what he was precisely complaining about, and they seem to have been mentally ignored even though they made their criticism clear that this severe accusation with no relevant citations should not remain. There is some policy here against starting fresh talk on issues that have already been raised, but I am not bringing it up as if it has not been discussed, I am messaging you under the justification that I believe you acted inappropriately to the original situation. With that said, could you please change this quote to something like 'known mainly for it's far-right user base'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.37.108.112 (talk) 14:45, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1) Which response specifically are you referring to? And what is it exactly that you want me to change?
2) Why are you popping up out of nowhere, after making one edit, and telling me what to do? AKA Casey Rollins Talk With Casey 04:06, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Rejoining the Fight Against Bias in the AiG Article (Circa April 2019)[edit]

Sorry Oldstone James for not responding to your email, I really value my anonymity.
It's hard to tell what edits you were advocating, as I don't think you signed any of your edits on the talk page. I would love to join you, but not only would I need more clarity as far as exactly what you would like to see changed, I am in college now and have very little time to join edit wars. Your draft article, Draft:Impaulsive[edit]

Hello, AKA Casey Rollins. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Impaulsive".

Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. Doug Weller talk 18:43, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit curious, what is the particular reason for the sanctions? I have been making edits on political articles for years with no issues, and furthermore have made even fewer edits on political pages in recent months and years. Does this have something to do with my edit to Truth Social, which was reverted immediately after this sanction was issued on me? Knowing the reason for the sanctions, if any exist, will be key in preventing me from running afoul of Wikipedia and their rules in the future.
