I am part of a student project at the University Freiburg that searches for German Wikipedia articles which could be interesting to an English readership. We than translate these articles with the help of our instructor OberMegaTrans.
I am very excited to become a part of the Wikipedia community and the first thing I want to share is this recipe for awesome choclate chip cookies:
Sophia's Choclate Chip Cookies[edit]
140g butter, softened - weiche Butter
200g brown sugar - brauner Zucker
50g powdered sugar - Puderzucker
1/2 tsp. salt - 1/2 Tl salz
2 eggs - Eier
1 tsp baking soda - Backpulver
1 tsp cinnamon - Zimt
100g almond flour - gemahlene Mandeln
200g dark choclate chips - dunkle Schokotropfen
Start by mixing butter, sugar and eggs. As soon as this part of the dough is creamy, you can add the rest. Form small balls with an ice cream spoon and put them on a baking tray. Bake for about 12 to 14 minutes in a preheated oven by 190 degrees C.

Bis zum 1. August 2015 war das Bundesamt gesetzlich verpflichtet, spätestens drei Jahre nachdem eine positive Entscheidung unanfechtbar wurde, zu prüfen, ob die Voraussetzungen für diese Entscheidung weiterhin vorlagen. Auch das Vorliegen von Ausschlussgründen wie schwere, mit mehr als drei Jahren Haft bestrafte Straftaten oder Verbrechen gegen den Frieden, wurde dabei geprüft.
Wurde als Ergebnis der Prüfung ein positiver Bescheid aufgehoben, so prüfte die Ausländerbehörde den weiteren Aufenthalt. Unter bestimmten Umständen, etwa wenn jemand in keiner Weise integriert ist oder erhebliche Straftaten begangen hat, kam es vor, dass sie den weiteren Aufenthalt beendete.[16]
Wenn der Schutz vom Bundesamt nicht widerrufen wurde, erhielt der Flüchtling von der Ausländerbehörde eine unbefristete Niederlassungserlaubnis. In der Praxis hat das Bundesamt in rund 95 Prozent der Fälle den Schutzstatus der Flüchtlinge nicht widerrufen.[17]
Durch das Gesetz zur Neubestimmung des Bleiberechts und der Aufenthaltsbeendigung, das zum 1. Das Herzstück des Konzerthauses ist ein rechtwinkliger, 47 m langer und 19 m breiter Konzertsaal in durchschnittlich 17 m hoher Ausführung, der in der Art eines Kirchenschiffs angelegt ist. Er wurde nach dem früheren Oberbürgermeister Freiburgs Rolf Böhme benannt, in dessen Amtszeit das Konzerthaus errichtet wurde. Die langgezogenen, bis zur Bühne reichenden, tiefen Seitenränge des großflächig mit amerikanischer Kirsche getäfelten Raums geben dem Saal zusätzlich den Charakter einer Arena. Mit Konzertbestuhlung fasst er 1744 Personen und ist damit nach dem Festspielhaus Baden-Baden der zweitgrößte Konzertsaal in Südbaden[2].

Zusätzlich können die Seitenränge über ein Seilzugsystem mitsamt Bestuhlung um 90 Grad nach oben gezogen werden, eröffnen dadurch weitere seitliche Zugänge und verkleinern durch die entstehenden niedrigen Seitenschiffe das Volumen des Raumes erheblich. Darüber hinaus tragen freigelegte schallabsorbierende Flächen und großflächige Öffnungen den unterschiedlichen akustischen Voraussetzungen für den Musikbetrieb und für Veranstaltungen mit Sprachbeiträgen Rechnung. Um die ungünstigen Effekte des hohen Bühnenraums auszugleichen, wurden 30 in der Höhe verstellbare, kreisrunde Schallsegel aus Acrylglas installiert und bewegliche Paravents erstellt. Sie sollen, zwischen den Musikern und der Rückwand aufgestellt, zusammen mit den Schallsegeln zusätzliche Resonanzräume bieten. Dadurch werden auch die fehlenden Resonanzräume, die ursprünglich bei einer Orgel für die Rückwand des Saales eingeplant waren, teilweise ausgeglichen. Als Tragwerk wurde eine Konstruktion aus Stahlbeton errichtet, in die insgesamt 30.000 m³ Beton und 6.500 t Betonstahl verbaut wurden. Das Gebäude mit 3-geschossiger Tiefgarage hat einen Bruttorauminhalt von 136.664 m³ und eine Bruttogeschoßfläche von 30.018 m². Die Fassaden wurden mit Granit verkleidet, verputzt oder in Sichtbeton gegossen, das Foyer ist nach außen hin großflächig verglast. Im Innenausbau wurden hauptsächlich, Putz, Sichtbeton und amerikanische Kirsche (black cherry) für die Wände sowie Teppich und wiederum Kirsche als Bodenbelag verbaut. Im Gebäude wurden etwa 5.300 Leuchten an das Stromnetz mit ca. 512 km Stromleitungen angeschlossen.

Brewery[edit]
Moon River Brewing Company opened to the public in 1999 on the site of the former Oglethorpe Brewing Co. Its current owners are Gene Beeco and John Pinkerton. In 2010, the brewery won a Gold Medal for its Rosemary India Pale Ale in the "Herb and Spice or Chocolate Beer" category[1] at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. In 2003, the brewery was voted #28 on the "Top 50 American Brewpubs" in the United States by BeerAdvocate.com.[2]
History of the building[edit]
Moon River Brewing Company is located in the former City Hotel. Elazer Early, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, built the City Hotel in 1821. Not only was it the first hotel in Savannah, but it was also home to the first branch of the United States Post Office in Savannah, as well as a branch of the Bank of the United States. Many notable people stayed at the City Hotel, including War of 1812 hero Winfield Scott, the Marquis de Lafayette, the first three commodores of the U.S. Navy and naturalist James Audubon. Audubon stayed six months while attempting to sell books full of his wildlife sketches.
In 1851, Peter Wiltberger bought the City Hotel. He renovated it and put a live lion and lioness on display to draw attention to his business. City Hotel's final guest checked out in 1864, just before the arrival of General Tecumseh Sherman during the Civil War and the subsequent closing of the City Hotel. At the turn of the century, the building was used as a lumber and coal warehouse. As the use of coal slowly died off, the building was used for general storage. In the 1960s, the space was renovated as an office supply store, complete with a large printing press. Hurricane David forced this business to close in 1979 when it blew the roof off the structure. The building sat empty until 1995 when it was renovated into its current configuration as a brew pub.
The building is alleged to be haunted, is a feature of local guided tours,[3] and claimed by staff members to be a site of hauntings and poltergeist activity.[4] In 2005, the brewery was featured in the Ghost Hunters Halloween special, and in 2009 on Travel Channel's paranormal television series Ghost Adventures.(409 words)

Die Moon River Brewing Company befindet sich im ehemaligen Stadthotel von Savannah. Erbaut wurde es 1821 von Elazer Early, der urspünglich aus Charleston, South Carolina, stammt. Es war allerdings nicht nur das erste Hotel der Stadt, sondern beheimatete auch die erste Filiale des United States Post Office, als auch eine Filiale der Bank of the United States. Viele wichtige Persönlichkeiten übernachteten im ehemaligen Stadthotel, wie zum Beispiel 1812 Kriegsheld Winfield Scott, der Marquis de Lafayette, drei Commodore (Flottillenadmirale) der U.S. Navy und Naturalist James Audubon. Bis 1995 stand das Gebäude danach leer, bis es abermals renoviert und als der heutige Braupub wiedereröffnet wurde. Allerdings sind die oberen Stockwerke des Gebäudes bis heute nicht renoviert worden und in teilweise marodem Zustand. Heute besteht das Gebäude aus Keller, renoviertem Erdgeschoss und drei weiteren leerstehenden Stockwerken. Spuren der Vergangenheit lassen sich sowohl in den oberen Zimmern als auch im Keller finden: Neben den abgeschliffenen Säulen befindet sich dort auch ein Eingang zu einem Tunnel, der der Underground Railroad als Versteck und Passage zum Schmuggel von Sklaven gedient haben könnte.
Das Gebäude ist allerdings nicht nur wegen seiner Bedeutung für die Stadt Savannah Teil der Stadtführungen, sondern erfreut sich auch einer gewissen Berühmtheit, weil es hier angeblich spuken soll: Verschiedene Mitarbeiter des Braupubs berichteten von paranormalen Geschehnissen und Poltergeist-Aktivitäten. 2005 kam die Moon River Brewing Company daher in einer Halloween Spezial-Folge von Ghost Hunters vor und wurde auch 2009 in der vom Travel Channel produzierten Sendung Ghost Adventures vorgestellt. Die Tatsache, dass das Gebäude im Laufe seiner Geschichte auch mehrmals als Lazarett und Krankenlager diente, beflügelt die Fantasie von Fans des Paranormalen. Fliegende Flaschen, Besteck, das von den Tischen rutscht, schattenhafte Figuren, die durch das Gebäude huschen, gehören zu den Sichtungen. Außerdem eine Frau in Kleidung aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, die die Treppen auf und ab laufen soll, ein Kind namens Toby, das im Keller Kugeln vom Billiardtisch klaut. Ein Polizist unter den Gästen berichtete vom Geist eines Soldaten und am Manager vorbei soll sich eine unsichtbare Kraft durch einen Türrahmen geschoben haben. Ein weiblicher Gast berichtete von einem dämonischen Wesen, das sie im Keller angegriffen haben soll. In den ungenutzten Räumen finden sich angeblich immer wieder Fußspuren. Die scheinbar paranormalen Aktivitäten sind auch der Grund für den Renovierungsstop in den oberen Stockwerken, nachdem während Renovierungsarbeiten die Frau eines Vorarbeiters von einem bösartigen Geist die Treppe hinuntergestoßen worden sein soll.(651 words)
