Ethnically Marxist, eh?[edit]

Well, culinarily I'm Duck Soup. If you're up everything, why not PR Wikipedia:Peer_review/United_Nations_list_of_Non-Self-Governing_Territories/archive1 ? Spain left Western Sahara in 1975, but Morocco annexed most of it and as of 2008 it has been denied self-determination. :)--Thecurran (talk) 15:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, I discovered my stance on ethnicity mainly by accident during my first year of University, I was somewhat shocked. I shall take a look at the PR SGGH speak! 10:42, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much. That'd be great. Your response has piqued my interest but right now I'm overdue for sleep. :)---Thecurran (talk)

Birmingham Steel Corporation[edit]

I added some references to Birmingham Steel Corporation. You may want to revisit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Birmingham Steel Corporation. --Eastmain (talk) 00:45, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi, SGGH - Big Bong[edit]

Hi. My, my, you guys are sure fast on the deletion trigger, comapared to my local Norwegian moderators. Before I even get finished, one moderator after the other starts deleting. I am not all that experienced here. Can you give me some help instead, maybe? As a representative of a micro-Wiki language (Norwegian), as opposed to the macro-Wiki English, I feel slightly discriminated.

The intention of the Big Bong article was as follows: 1) All kids these days use Wiki to check if a band name has been "taken". 2) I was trying to prevent some poor band from e.g. New Zealand from being sued in 2010, when the novel is published, where there appears a band with said name. 3) I have sold 30 000 books in Noway, I have been translated into German, and the abovementioned novel will most likely be published in English. My Norwegian publisher is Scandinavia's biggest, my German published is one of the five biggest in Germany.

Rhetorical question, don't take it personally: Is Wikipedia Anglocentrist or can minor languages have a place here too?

First I got user:LilacSoul on my neck, and now you :( Tears are falling.

But I still can't see no style break from me.

Litter13 (talk) 11:06, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I mean, if http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurd_(band) is legit here, I think what I've been trying to write in should be Ok. Litter13 (talk) 11:20, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Egovernment factsheets speedy deletion[edit]

Dear friend,

The article you have just deleted is not intended to "merely promote or advertise someone or something".

That article refers to ePractice initiative which is an official European Commission initiative on eGovernment in the EU.

There also other articles in Wikipedia on those subjects like:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EUPL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDABC

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Government

In the last article there is also an external link directing to ePractice

Looking forward to your comments

E-Practice Editors (talk) 11:34, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Article deletion feedback[edit]

Do you think I should rename the article into "Egovernment initiative" or similar?

That article was the first of a number of articles I am considering setting up about eGovernment developments in the EU,

of which ePractice is the most well founded one. EGovernment is a very prominent field of activity and my intention is not

advertising it but contributing to a subject that is vaguely covered in Wikipedia.

 E-Practice Editors (talk) 11:58, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Future "eGovernment in the EU" contributions[edit]

Thank you very much for your prompt action.

Since that was only an initial article of eGovernment initiatives in the EU, we are planning on further content contribution in the future in order to enrich Wikipedia's entries. Your comments and tips are always welcome so that our contributions are of high quality and small incidences like that before are avoided.

Thanks again

Very small style point...[edit]

... in fact infinitesimally small compared with the delight of seeing that you're back on line and active and doing a lot of the housekeeping work that some of us are so bad at...

But you seem to be adding n-dashes where in fact hyphens are needed, as in first-class. There are some rather tedious (though correct) WP articles on hyphens and dashes that differentiate the two. But basically in cricket articles, most instances will be hyphens with the exception of cricket seasons that run across two calendar years, which should be 20xx–xy (but often aren't).

Sorry to be nit-picky (not nit–picky). Johnlp (talk) 21:56, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Use the - on the keyboard? Yes, I think so, mostly. A hyphen is more likely to be right than an en dash, and a lot of article titles that strictly need en dashes have redirects from the hyphen versions that take you there anyway. The best thing, though, is that you keep on creating the articles: time is such a constraint for some of us at present that all we can do is to look at other people's work – and envy them. :-) Johnlp (talk) 21:27, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi - sorry to hijack the conversation! For 99% of the time, use the standard dash/hyphen in between words, (first-class) and use dashes in between numbers, such as the seasons as JohnLP mentioned. So (hyphens) Right-arm [[seam bowling|fast-medium]] between (ndash) 2000–2004.

Image copyright problem with Image:LogoKenpol.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LogoKenpol.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

English cricket team in South Africa in 1905-06[edit]

Absolutely no problem at all, mate. Your edits make for a much better article as it was formerly just a bare stub, so, well done. WT:CRIC agreed on a naming convention for tour articles many moons ago (and somewhere in the archives now) which used the two "ins" (as above) so the only thing to be aware of is the accepted convention. All the best. BlackJack | talk page 20:23, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Recent Edits[edit]

Hi! And YES I do welcome a new "face" to my page! Regarding my recent edits, although it may seem that way to some, believe me my motivations are quite to the contrary. Some of my edits have seemed disruptive in nature, however I don't intend to make any additional edits without the consensus of the community. I'm currently making an effort to get more voices included in my current opposition to some biased language in the FNC article. I'm not trying to build a coalition or anything, but I think it is important to get some different people involved that can bring an objective view point based on experience. If the current article stands, great; if not, that's fine as well. I just want to make sure everyone agrees, and not just a handful of editors. Thank you for your advice, it is well received. Wikiport (talk) 20:20, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

One note, I think I may have removed your comments on "Wiki Cubed" ANI by mistake. I was trying to add in a rebuttal comment, and I believe it reverted it to an older version. It is semi-protected so I am going to leave it alone. Thanks again..Wikiport (talk) 20:52, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
I am trying to really improve this FNC article, and adhere to current policy. Every attempt I make is met with such childish behavior from Blaxthos, it is making it impossible. He is literally stalking my contributions and inserting everywhere that I am up for blocking etc. Is there any course I can take to at least TRY to edit? I thank you, Wikiport (talk) 01:22, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply, your advice has been most helpful. Although I don't agree with Blaxthos, I can't ignore his contributions, he does know his "stuff". I'm not denying I'm a hothead, but you helped quell a silly situation. I think the RFC will go fine, editors are contributing and taking it seriously. Thanks again, I hope to see you around. You are an attribute to Wikipedia. Wikiport (talk) 10:47, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Non-English cricket seasons[edit]

Hi SGGH. I note this edit on the Boycott article. Unless I am reading it wrong, the project style guide says non-English seasons should use an en dash. Certainly that has been the practise with Australian biographies. Incidentally, on Boycott, I feel even without a photograph the article would meet WP:WIAFA. Perhaps some more pictures of grounds, YCCC offices, Fitzwilliam, team-mates and opponents etc would do the trick. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 20:33, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

UK law enforcement agency categories[edit]

Hi, just a quick note to draw your attention to Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (law enforcement agency categories). AFD is specifically for deletion debates. If you support redirection or moving an article instead, either ask for help at the relevant pages or do it yourself. Neither action requires the page to be deleted. - Mgm|(talk) 00:50, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
