Hello I am a chemical engineer currently serving as process developer for a biofuel company in Dallas. My specialty at this point involves the application of both natural and artificial zeolite catalysts for Lewis acid site reactions in biodiesel production. I also study the application of toric-structure hydrocarbons as activation-energy placeholders in acid and base catalysis operations as well as for chemical contamination reduction in the biodiesel production process. Interestingly these ring structures are used more or less directly in consumer products -- such as Febreze -- for the absorption of odors. Essentially the rings serve as magnetic wells that trap other molecules in the "donut hole" of the torus. Right now I work as part of a team which is developing a similar class of compounds that are effective with lipid-derivatives with purifying applications in the biofuel (specifically biodiesel) production process.
