Kante revision

Hi, I believe Kante’s current form and general regard over his ability over the last few months deserves an update in status as being among the best players in the world in his position. Players like Sadio Mane still have this status despite mediocre performances and loss in worldwide regard over the past few months. In my humble opinion it would make Wikipedia seem fresher, sharper and more informed if the description of ‘being regarded as one of the best players in the world’ was served with more accuracy. Astroworld

I do not understand why there has to be a genre war with TheAmazingPeanuts as he is rejecting my edits, even with sources (I used 2, the first one he rejected, and the second one was the very same source he used for his own edit). I feel like he isn't open to any constructive discussion, as another user had already suggested changing the genre last year May and was completely ignored. Thank you, I have already tried to discuss it on the article's talk page two hours ago, but he has not replied, as he did with the user 2003:DB:1F30:20A2:2070:664:1CE7:C2FE who suggested a genre change last year. Pests which I'd thought never return

I'd thought for a while that two of the Wikipedia pests had stopped doing their own things. LTA 1 today likes inserting the text "any body can get on wiki and type liesssssss Bye Barney b". At least you're there to protect anything which becomes frequently targeted. And yesterday LTA 2 has done the usual weekly trolling e.g. "Jonathan Field", "Harry Kirby", " "Lions" etc. I'd thought both of them had stopped doing their bad habits but it seems like I was certainly wrong. Hi Iggy the Swan! Long time no chat! I hope you're doing well. :-) Yeah, the IP users that were adding the "Bye barney" edits was quite a stir. I added the content to my edit filter (#53), so you can keep eyes on that for further edits with that content. The user accounts, however, are quite different. They're not adding similar content to each article; I'm going to have to get creative and figure a way to track them. Shouldn't be too hard, but I'm going to have to try a little bit harder and think outside the box a little bit. ;-) Yes, indeed, I'm happy that there are plenty of eyes on things. The edit filter log I set up should help some, too. In all fairness, that edit filter is private from my point of view. But one day Wikipedia will win against these two LTA's, by evidence of Checkuser, they are two different people. (talk page watcher) @Omingokevin: The item Draft:Reer Yusuf was declined at review, since when nothing has been done to the to make it suitable for Wikipedia. The reviewer gave the main reason as lack of decent referencing / sourcing but there are also a number of grammatical, formatting and layout anomalies which make it not usable, as it stands, as a Wikipedia item. Some of these are of not very much import and can be dealt with as and when. However, the referencing needs to be addressed before the item can be accepted into the encyclopedia. Readability issues should be looked at as well. It might be an idea for you to review the guide to article creation and also to referencing as suggested by the reviewer. @Heymid: I'm the one who said I made an off-wiki request to check this – that simply involved me asking the sv.wiki admin and Wikimedia employee Julle, who is a good friend of mine in RL, to look into it. Hi, Oshwah. I disagree with your removing references to media that has covered topics on Wikipedia. It is not for advertising/promotion. It is so users can go to sources outside of Wikipedia to learn more on the topic. I found an example of where this was allowed: on the Hadden Clark page, I found: Two-part series on The Last Podcast on the Left episodes "Hadden Clark Part I- Mommy's Basement Bakery" and "Hadden Clark Part II- Women's Panties", aired: November 2019.

How is this different? If I remove the link, will that meet the requirements?

How to add this to half-truths?

   In his inaugural speech on January 20th, 2021, President Biden (6:38 of the speech) is quoted to say, " Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we're all are created equal and the harsh ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear demonization have long torn us apart." The term 'we're all created equal' is part of the sentence in the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which Thomas Jefferson penned in 1776 during the beginning of the American Revolution that reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". Mr. Bidens statement is part of the entire sentence. President Biden also says (12:19 of the speech), " recent weeks and months have taught us a painful lesson there is truth and there are lies, lies told for power and for profit", and makes no mention of half-truths, that include truths that lie because they are part-of-the-truth.

Hi there! YouTube is not recommended as a source, as they're often unreliable and considered most times to be primary. A secondary source that's considered reliable would be better to cite. Why are you adding this content to the Half-truth article in the first place? In his inaugural speech on January 20th, 2021, President Biden (6:38 of the speech) is quoted to say, " Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we're all are created equal and the harsh ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear demonization have long torn us apart." The term 'we're all created equal' is part of the sentence in the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which Thomas Jefferson penned in 1776 during the beginning of the American Revolution that reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". Mr. Bidens statement is part of the entire sentence. President Biden also says (12:19 of the speech), " recent weeks and months have taught us a painful lesson there is truth and there are lies, lies told for power and for profit", and makes no mention of half-truths, that include truths that lie because they are part-of-the-truth. The entry QX39 is incorrect and needs to be changed to avoid future confusion. These compounds were generated in our laboratory and patents and publications used in the entry are from our group. The entry needs to be changed to CA77.1 that is the correct name of the compound used in the studies with Alzheimer's that you reference in the page. We never used QX39 for in vivo studies in Alzheimer and the structure and other inforamtion entered there was incorrect. The compounds were described as QX in early days in the patent but have been published as CA and by using the old nomenclature that was not used in the publication we are worried this will create confusion. The mechanism of action was incorrect as neither QX39 nor CA77.1 target LAMP2A as indicate in the text. I have corrected the text for accuracy and include the very original reference of the parent compounds so readers interested can track the molecules. The main difference between the early series of compounds (AR7) and these ones is that we used extensive med chem to made them suitable for in vivo use and that lead to the Alzheimer's studies that are referred in the page. OK, we still seem to have the userspace version and the draft version; one needs to go. The userspace is in better condition than the draft but it is the wrong location. The content at the userspace could be amalgamated into the draft and the userpage used for its intended purpose of telling the Wikipedia community a little about the user and how they intend to contribute to the encyclopedia. The draft had (still has) a number of anomalies as does the userpage and the combined item should be edited in line with the article creation guidelines and the manual of style as well as carefully studying the notability requirements. Account 3000 - You're not actually doing the right thing, you know... You can't just keep creating new accounts like this and expect that you won't be blocked. Do you want to be able to come back to Wikipedia and contribute positively to the encyclopedia? You need to log into your original account, Jack90s15, after you've gone six months without violating any policies (so no creating sock puppets), and appeal your block. This is how you do the right thing, not what you're doing now, which is to create multiple accounts in order to skirt the radar. For some reason, the sockpuppet template shows that a sockpuppet category still needs to be created even though one exists. Ah, a purging trick that I didn't know about. Thanks for the info. As for other help, I've gone to several different CUs with questions about a couple of editors that didn't warrant filing a full SPI and that has been helpful. Spi abuse and retaliation against me

Hello Oshwah I have been having disputes with another user about sources. As of yesterday they accused me of being a sock puppet and now today they're accusing me of being another sock puppet. About an investigation

There is some kind of confusing going on.

I'm not Dibosh Chakma. Actually he (Dibosh) was the previous owner of the mobile that I am using right now. I bought the mobile from Dibosh couple of weeks ago. Therefore my cousin taught me how to edit in Wikipedia. That's why, though I am new but I know the basics of editting in Wikipedia.

Revert of DarkSide (hacking group)

I believe I only made one or two changes to that page. The only one I actually remember making is to change "behind" to "the cause of" which in my opinion has the same meaning but is much better, more precise English. At any rate, saying an organization was "behind" something is vague, figurative and is basically slang; some more definite phrase should be substituted. So if that's my change you didn't like, then I do disagree. Unrelated

Hijacking the section to ask for advice. I left an editor a message about an unhelpful edit of theirs ([10]) on their talk page. This is how they responded. Now I left them a very stern statement on their talk page about that, since, reading just diagonally through it I can see a couple of nasty insinuations... Don't think it's prima vista blockable (although I've been previously harassed so it's not very far from it), but if you or any talk page watcher has further advice on how to handle this kind of shenanigans or is willing to take a watchful look over the relevant article that would be nice. Hi RandomCanadian! Aside from the accusations and finger-pointing, that user's response went off on unrelated tangents and made absolutely no sense at all to me. Honestly, my advice would be to just ignore it and move on. I wouldn't have even left the user that warning you left for their response on your user talk page. Warning a user for something they did on your own talk page is equivalent to yelling "stop poking me!" It rarely works, and just signals to the user that you're taking their response personally and that you don't like it - something that trolls thrive on and gobble as their food. ;-) You warned the user for their edit to the article - that's all you need to do. Just ignore their rant, move on, and keep an eye out for any more issues by that user with further edits to articles. Treat them like you would any other editor and disregard the fact that they went off on you like that. No need to make things more complicated. ;-) If the user does start to harass and hound you repeatedly, please let me know. CU and SPI questions

Hi Oshwah! I am not challenging your decisions, I am asking because I feel my understanding of CU policy (and where to look at policy) is lacking to the point that when I file a SPI I feel it is a crapshoot whether to request CU or not in some cases.

In Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Comedian Warmatep you stated that DUCK evidence doesn't require CU to confirm (I was asking for CU not just to confirm, but to uncover other instances, but lets leave it at confirming). User:AmandaNP declined similarly for Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lass-Lass.

What is unclear to me, is how this is based on the CheckUser policy. Wikipedia:CheckUser#Grounds for checking states that sock pupperty is grounds for checking. I don't see how the "duck" case falls under WP:CUPRIVACY. I also don't see anything on meta.

However, the "duck" case clearly falls under procedure given that both you and AmandaNP declined for exactly the same reason. My question is, where can I read about this procedure? Or read about guidance about when to ask for CU and when not? I am asking so that I fill out the CU requested field in my SPI reports in a better fashion.

Another question, arising from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lass-Lass, I avoided placing user warnings (aside from automatic speedy-deletion notices from Twinkle I didn't prevent) on the talk page of Homesand (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki), and did not report Homesand to AIV (which I probably could've given the amount of disruptive edits I reverted) as they were an obvious DUCK and I had already reported them to SPI. However, SPI seems very slow these days, like this case was declined by CU on DUCK (but the account wasn't blocked...) the same day, the account was blocked 26 hours later (because someone else reported them to AIV), and the SPI was closed 8 days later with "Nothing left to do here, closing" by User:RoySmith. In the meantime, another DUCK appeared and was reported by someone else at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Homesand. Now, my question from all this is whether I should report such a user to SPI at all? I could easily foresee that I would have enough activity for a vandalism-only/NOTHERE block at AIV in short order, and that noticeboard is handled more briskly. Hi Eostrix! Thanks for leaving me a message here with your questions and concerns regarding SPI. In short, the answer is "yes" - you should definitely file SPI reports when you believe that sock puppetry is occurring. Even if a CU declines running a check on the particular report you file, it's still looked into by clerks and administrators, who run a behavioral investigation on the accounts and decide on action from there. If you could take away only one thing from this response, remember this: CU data does not preclude a behavioral analysis and obvious sock puppetry. If CU data came back and determined that two accounts were in completely different areas around the world, and if a behavioral investigation concludes that the two users are obvious sock puppets based on their edits and behavior, the behavioral investigation takes complete precedence and the accounts would be blocked. :-)
I used to run checks on accounts that were exhibiting DUCK behavior, but I was told by AmandaNP that these checks are unnecessary due to the nature of the evidence being obvious. From then on, I declined these requests as this is what she told me should be done. I'll let Amanda comment further on this response with her reasoning and rationale. I don't mind at all running checks for DUCK evidence and findings - especially if the request states that a sleeper check is needed. If I declined a request when you had asked for a sleeper check, please accept my apologies in advance and just make sure that you state this clearly in future SPI reports when you request a checkuser. This way, I'll be sure to be aware that your request entails a sleeper check, and I'll be happy to look into it with that mindset.
If you have any further questions regarding SPI reports, CU checks, and the line between where they'll be accepted or declined, please let me know and I'll be happy to try and explain things further. The last thing I want you to be is confused over how we handle SPI cases, and I'm sure that they haven't been handled consistently from checkuser to checkuser. It's an extension of Wikipedia's general notability guidelines and the basic criteria for the notability of people. There's an AFD dicussion that's open where users have added rationale and input that cites these specific guidelines. I'd give these guidelines a read, then go through the AFD discussion to see what they're referencing. Recurring transphobic vandalism from static IP

I see that you warned 47.187.133.104 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) for his latest vandalism. The edits he's making are the exact same as the sort he got blocked for last week under multiple IPs and probably as TheFreeGene (talk · contribs) (SPI). But 2a02:ab88 geolocates to Hungary, 2a00:23c4 to England. Are we looking at proxies here? Coordination? Or just coincidental use of the same edit summary? Since we're not sure which one is correct, I went into the article and removed the date of birth completely until we can figure out what's going on. User:Oshwah Correction there are more sources about her age being 1990 which I have given. The other 32 age has only given one source please read the discussion again. Look here [21] [22] [23] it says here she was 28 in 2018. [24] these are the ones which I given of her age being in the year of 1990. Please read the sources here. So I think you have been mistaken and please add the date to 22 August 1990.
You need to take your sources and findings and bring it up in the discussion on the article's talk page. Discuss the issue with the other editors involved and come to a consensus. Until this is figured out, it's better to leave the birthdate off of the article, since we don't really know what it is given the inconsistency of the dates given by the different references. Once that's figured out, someone will be able to edit the article and add the correct date of birth. Living life, I suppose. Logging in once every couple months to do a bit of cleanup in some downtime. ASHLEYWON11 - Wow... That user talk page is full of unblock requests, and your last one was very unsurprisingly denied and with your user talk page access revoked. "You and your wikipedia is trash"? I really hope you understand why your unblock requests were denied, especially when I see an unblock request that starts with a statement like that. Creating accounts to get around your block is a violation of policy. What you're doing right now is only going to get you blocked and complicate your ability to be unblocked and return to editing. Nappy Brown was a big-time blues singer, like Muddy Waters, or like that. He was really a very popular man. And the Drinkards couldn't come, of course, because they were on the stage doing the show at the Apollo [Theater, New York, New York]. So, they sent us. And from that point we met Ozzie Cadena, who was an engineer at Savoy Records [Newark, New Jersey], which was where Nappy did his recordings. And they kept hiring us. We did Sam the Man Taylor, we did Dave Brubeck, we did--oh my Lord, so many--Herbie Mann, a lot of things, yeah.

So that was the start of your professional career? You were being paid?

It was the beginning of our background singing professionally, yeah.

So who was all the background singers at that time? It was you--

Well, it was me, Dionne [HistoryMaker Dionne Warwick], Myrna [Smith], Estelle--I forgot to mention her, Estelle Brown--and Sylvia [Shemwell] again. Basically, that was the group.

And singing--what sort of--what is a background singer?

Background singers supply a feel or a lick, you know. A lick is like (singing), you know, we support the lead singer. And the lead singer can respond off of us. So, we fill in where the gaps are, backing them up (laughter).

So you're at Savoy, and you're doing a lot of backup work. About what year did it really take off for you?

Sixty-one [1961], '61 [1961] or '62 [1962], somewhere in there.

Now, what happened in '61 [1961] that made it take off?

Well, they had heard of us, and New York [New York] called. Who was that who called us? I can't remember who exactly that was. Maybe Atlantic Records [New York, New York]--Jerry Wexler, Bert Berns, or [Steve] Greenberg at Mercury Records. And he wanted us to do something with Quincy Jones at Mercury Records with what's that girl's name? Connie Francis, and Elvis [Presley]. So it just snowballed from there, and we made a lot of money, you know.'

User:Oshwah please could you change it to her correct birth year which is 1990 as in these sources it’s says her age (26 in 2016), 27 which does say she was born in 1990 and the last two also says her 1990 date of birth year whilst the other birth year has only one source which was wrong. There are more sources of her saying she was born in 1990 than the other. Have a look here

The third world model vs the third world.

The maoist third world is not the same as the non aligned countries movement, and it should be reflected as such. 3rd world does not meed underdeveloped or poor, switzerland, sweden, finland qatar and bahrein are all in the third world in the proper sense. in the maoist they are in the 1st. portugal, mexico and turkey are all 1st world as members of NATO but poorer than many 3rd world countries in the proper term, whilst in maoist terms mexico would be a 2nd world country.

I think it is important to make a distinction either way.

What does a page being reviewed mean?

Does it mean the admin who reviewed it will delete it? I am scared of my user being deleted now. Artmaker12 (talk)

Hi Artmaker12! Welcome to Wikipedia! The notice you probably received was referring to the fact that I marked the user page you created as patrolled. There's nothing to be scared about. :-) All new pages that get created are subject to be reviewed to make sure that they're in compliance with Wikipedia's policies. If they're not, they'll be nominated for deletion. In this case, your user page is fine. Hi Interstellarity! Long time no chat! Thing have been good for me. I live in an area where the impact of COVID is low, so it didn't affect me too much. I still need to go get my vaccination though. Yes, masks are still required in my area, but I'm not too worried about it. Things are coming back slowly but surely. :-) I'm working a full time job and trying to stay active on Wikipedia as well. Life has been good for me!! Things are slowly getting back to normal. I got fully vaccinated. I’m busy with school in the summer and fall. Aside from that, I do have free time so hopefully I’ll edit here once in a while. I can assure you that brighter days are ahead and hope we are getting out of this crisis soon. Newark NJ fire dept Wikipedia page

Oshwah, hi this is Doriden, some BOT removed page protection from the page yesterday and 2 hours later that non-static ip from St.Petersburg Florida went at it fast and furiously. WP:AIV is the best place if you need a quick response; WP:RFPP if the page needs protection; and WP:ANI if you need a more complex solution (range-blocks, non-obvious vandalism, ...) Some advice I can give is to figure out what you want to expand on the article first, then do research, gather your sources (make sure that they're reliable), and then expand the article last. Interesting usernames (episode 2)

See these names. I am 100% sure this is an LTA, as there are over 50 attack names against Sheena Parker created in 3 months and some are globally locked. One last month was even globally suppressed by TonyBallioni as it contained an address. What to do with this new surge of names?

It looks like the accounts have all been blocked, and I would also believe that this user is an LTA or someone abusing multiple accounts in bad faith based off the similarity of the usernames. @NonsensicalSystem, (talk page stalker) I don't think this really fits the criteria for revdel. It's just plain vandalism and isn't really "grossly insulting". Also, revdel requests should be made privately (by email or at #wikipedia-en-revdel connect) to avoid triggering the Streisand effect, which means that it will innately draw more attention. Hi NonsensicalSystem! Edit filters right now can only be oversighted, which it doesn't meet the criteria for. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks

Is there any way that we can put a block on Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks for people who are not confirmed users?. There is someone who keeps using anonymous logins and is adding information which is not sourced and is also not true. Cronulla and Penrith are not rivals in sport, I have been following Rugby League all my life and never heard of this rivalry before.
