Um, some inaccuracy[edit]

What gives? He is sited in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modesto%2C_California as being a Modesto Native, then in his own article,in the personal section, it says he was born in hawaii and raised in southern california, but then, under his picture, it says he was born Birmingham, England. Well, which is it? Finally, in the same personal section it seems like it is referring to him with thename Murad. What the hell? --69.181.56.90 05:57, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From what I can tell, he was born in Hawaii, so the UK info needs to be changed. It looks like vandal 62.30.54.107 originally introduced the false information here, and then 69.156.110.11 changed the infobox to reflect the vandal's edit here. This shouldn't happen on Wikipedia; we should have a system of tighter controls that carefully monitors anonymous edits, but for some reason we don't. —Viriditas | Talk 06:31, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Olyphant name does originate in Scotland. His ancestry is traced for a bit here - Ancestry of Timothy Olyphant (b. 1968), actor. On his father's side, he's descended from Cornelius Vanderbilt (his grandmother's brother was John H. Hammond). One of his great-grandfathers on his mother's side was a Russian Jewish immigrant. Interesting {Gk.} etymology for Olyphant ~ The word "elephant" is based on the Latin elephas (genitive elephantis) ("elephant"), which is the Latinised form of the Greek ἐλέφας (elephas) (genitive ἐλέφαντος (elephantos)), probably from a non-Indo-European language, likely Phoenician. It is attested in Mycenaean Greek as e-re-pa and e-re-pa-to in Linear B syllabic script. As in Mycenaean Greek, Homer used the Greek word to mean ivory, but after the time of Herodotus, it also referred to the animal. The usual etymology given for Oliphant (in all its variants) in England and Scotland derives it from a French word for olive-grower ('olifard' or variant spellings). The earliest documented form of the name in Britain appears to be 'olifart', which is found in Domesday Book. But the word was unfamiliar to British people (who knew nothing of olives) and it became assimilated to the slightly more familiar word oliphant (elephant). sheriff behavior[edit]

"Givens wears a Stetson hat and behaves like an old West sheriff." How, exactly, does an old West sheriff behave? Is there some standard for or pattern of old West sheriff behavior? And note that Stetson is a hat manufacturer, not a specific hat. Which model are you talking about?

Timothy Olyphant[edit]

His acting in this Series(Justfied) is impeccable and it’s a shame and surprise that he was not awarded for his talent . The series was wonderful entertainment and I am sure financially beneficial for FX. Olyphant should benefit from that successs. Without his talent and contribution it would not have been possible.
