Fifth or sixth album?[edit]

Currently this article declares this Ms. Jepsen's fifth studio album, however Carly Rae Jepsen#Discography lists six. I imagine Dedicated Side B is the one not being counted here, but the DSB article calls it a studio album and I don't see what reason there is to not include it in the official count, though perhaps I'm mistaken. So which is it? Also, mostly as a reminder to myself, I made articles for her two latest singles. "Western Wind" says "sixth" while "Beach House" says "fifth", and clearly one of those needs to be changed, but I'll leave them both as is for the moment until consensus is reached. I've been wondering this too. Most articles I've seen have called The Loneliest Time her sixth studio album.
It looks like the consensus among the media is to include Dedicated Side B as her fifth album, which I also believe it should be. It's a full studio body of work, released relatively close to when it was recorded. The only time I'd consider an album like Dedicated Side B to be a compilation is if it was released many years after it was recorded. Benjichilders (talk) 18:27, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that looks pretty decided. Thanks! QuietHere (talk) 21:10, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think The Loneliest Time is a fifth studio album. Dedicated Side B is just a b-side of Dedicated, that's why many fans called "The Loneliest Time" as "CRJ5".
Many articles, including Rolling Stone, label the album as "fifth". They explain "The Loneliest Time" as a follow-up to 2019's Dedicated.

Also, two latest interviews call "The Loneliest Time" as her fifth studio album. Ms.Jepsen shared these interviews through her Instagram, so I think she agreed with this description.

We can't use fan names as a basis for this, and an artist sharing an interview doesn't necessarily mean an endorsement of every word it uses (plus I'm pretty sure we can't use the artist's word either). The sources do clear, though it's worth keeping in mind that Benji found more sources that say differently. I'm not about to declare this a majority rules decision or anything, but it is apparent that this issue isn't quite as cut-and-dry as we might think. Would it be easier if we just added a footnote like how all of Björk's album's have it? e.g.: "Utopia is officially considered to be Björk's ninth album. However, this is the tenth solo album if her self-titled 1977 album is included, or her eleventh album if her 1990 jazz album Gling-Gló with tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar is also included." Could just as easily make one of those saying "Some sources count this as her fifth album, ignoring Dedicated Side B" or something to that effect. Would be a lot easier than how we have it now. "Surrender My Heart", single?[edit]

The alleged single release of "Surrender My Heart" appears to be unsourced in the article. It seems to be based on the release of a music video without a radio impact. Mainstream sources like Rolling Stone, Billboard and USA Today notably avoided referring to it as a single and called it an album track while reporting the video.--NØ 19:36, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
