Notes

This article isnt really an article, its literally copied and pasted from the smash mouth main page... Should be deleted or fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.123.33.176 (talk) 03:07, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

This article wasn't initially an article, (literally copied and pasted from the smash mouth main page)... all copyright violations have been deleted or fixed, with new references added, but still there is little here.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Note: the first comment in this section was later changed into the second one. Both are preserved here now. Graham87 00:31, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Steve Harwell

I see no standalone notability for him — no sources explicitly about him. Per WP:BAND he should be redirected. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 19:44, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

He also appeared on a reality television show, so there is something beyond being in a band. Perhaps the next step is AFD? Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 01:54, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Merger proposal

Steve Harwell has zero notability outside of his role as Smash Mouth frontman. Therefore this article should be merged with Smash Mouth. --Bart simpson rules (talk) 09:18, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't say "zero" notability; he's been on a couple TV shows. He also has an IMDb page, although it lists him as a writer for some songs that I'm pretty sure were written by Greg Camp, so I don't know what's up with that. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this has been proposed at least once before. I think it might actually have been merged once and then split again. Not sure what all the arguments were. You might want to bring this up on the Smash Mouth talk page so more people see it.

If Bio information is going to be merged I would assume you would carry over at least some of the artist's info. Christopher597 (talk) 15:15, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Feel free to do so. Harwell still fails WP:MUSIC. I will reinstate the redirect shortly, unless there is consensus/policy-based discussion to the contrary. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:23, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

the eggs

Still no coverage in independent reliable sources. - SummerPhD (talk) 00:29, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

There are now independent reliable sources in the main Smash Mouth article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smash_Mouth#Egg_challenge — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.181.71.103 (talk) 01:21, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Notability template message

Since it appears the debate on his notability seems to have simmered down over the last 10 years, I'm removing the template message. (See reason #8 under "When to Remove")172.87.33.194 (talk) 19:45, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

He is still active.

I am at an orioles game in Baltimore and smash mouth is performing. Can we chaMeg is active status to present? Thank you 208.255.150.131 (talk) 01:13, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Wording

It should read “American retired singer”. He’s American whether he’s retired from signing or not. 2601:8C0:A83:87F0:A842:65B7:E5DF:5B19 (talk) 05:58, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Done. Anarchyte (talk) 10:53, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
The correct syntactical order would be to put retired first, and American closest to singer. 2600:1700:19E1:1020:E1C0:3506:8868:6AD6 (talk) 16:55, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
The word was removed altogether, unless you prefer "permanently retired". Wyliepedia @ 17:31, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
