Notability[edit]

Schwede66, can you please point out the sources you are referring to before I nominate it for deletion? Thank you. GSS💬 07:18, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In my edit summary, I mentioned "have you looked at the latest sources"? With 56k edits, you would presumably be aware of an article's history tab. If you look there, you would find this. There's also WP:BEFORE that is relevant to AfD; again an editor with your edit count is presumably aware of that. But if you still believe that there's a problem, take it to AfD and have it tested by the community. Schwede66 07:24, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
FYI I have looked at all the sources before proposing this piece for deletion and asking you to list those sources you are referring to that support notability can you? GSS💬 07:29, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You've followed the diff? Schwede66 07:38, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You must be kidding. GSS💬 07:39, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@GSS: It seems the community disagrees with your assessment. Schwede66 04:23, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but I'm not satisfied with the result. Being in news because of a notable person is not a sign of independent notability IMO. She has done nothing notable in her career except filing a petition. So this AfD will be a guide for those non-notable filmmakers who want to put themselves on Wikipedia. @GSS: We all get things wrong from time to time. How we deal with getting things wrong defines us as Wikipedians. Schwede66 06:53, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding 'notability' - Maihi, a part Maori, and unemployed 'film producer' has only ever produced one film, a short. Her last work as a Director, was a part contribution to the co-agulation entitled Waru, for which this article gives her credit as a feature film, despite it being 8 shorts stitched together. When correctly listed, her body of 'work' consists entirely of short clips, or shorts, at its most excessively generous, 'short films'. She has not produced any work (in the generic sense of produce) since 2017. She is unknown in general society, another nobody, who belatedly has received a certain degree of notoriety by means of her public attacks on a genuinely notable New Zealander, Sir Robert Jones KB for services to business management and the community. Sir Bob has his own extensive Wikipedia Biography. Controversial, prominent, prolific author, columnist, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Sir Robert is often painted as objectionable, cantankerous, brusque, short tempered and thoroughly unpleasant. By attaching herself to his coat-tails through her petition, Maihi has generated some peripheral publicity for herself, though ephemeral, and unrelated to her own career. Her petition was not even received by Parliament. I support the notion that Maihi is not notable, except among her sycophants, and tribal banner wavers, and her sole claim to fame is by way of being the accuser and alleged defamer of an esteemed businessman, politician, author and all round miscreant. Maihi is not deserving of an editor's logon on wikipedia, let alone a page. Bilbo-2014 (talk) 11:42, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
