axis[edit]

What is meant by "main bed"? Need to distinguish between side-to-side, front-back, and up-down axes in correct terminology. Wilhkar (talk) 22:05, 21 February 2010 (UTC)wilhkar[reply]

tonnage[edit]

I suggest we delete this section after better defining the term in the description of the press. Wilhkar (talk) 22:38, 21 February 2010 (UTC)wilhkar[reply]

CNC controlled operation section...[edit]

... seems to be covered in more detail in Punching machine. We could

  • delete the "CNC controlled operation" section in this article, and just link to Punching machine
  • leave the two articles in their somewhat confused state
  • Create a separate article on the CNC punch press and delete the appropriate chunks from both this article and the Punching machine article.

I think the third way is the best, as CNC punch presses also need explanation/linking to laser cutting, with which they are often combined, and that ends up a bit tangled. I would call the "Punching machine" the widest possible definition, which can describe several sorts and then link to "Punch press" which is narrower. The Punch press article would then link down to a CNC Punch press article, or possibly use the existing Turret punch and incorporate the CNC punch stuff in it.

Any comments on whether this is a good structure? Gravuritas (talk) 21:31, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
