Hi, and welcome to the Metalworking WikiProject! Please feel free to jump right in; we have a lot of metalworking articles that needs assistance.

As for a good place to start, there's TONS of metalworking articles that need work. Just so you know WP:METALS is the metalworking WikiProject homepage. If you click on the cleanup list link in the box on the right, that gives a compilation of metalworking articles needing assistance. The top section of the page lists high priority articles with the type of work needed. The bottom part clumps together articles that need the same type of work done. So maybe you can start by finding the type of thing you like doing best, such as copyediting, expanding, or adding references, and finding the articles that are in need of that discipline.

Edit summary FYI[edit]

Just an FYI, you don't have to put the 4 tildes in your edit summary as they don't convert to a signature. You're username shows up next you every edit summary anyways, so it would be redundant. Cheers! Wizard191 (talk) 18:42, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Borderline copyvio[edit]

Your text at bending (metalworking): "With coining, the top tool forces the sheet into the opening of the bottom tool, down to the bottom of the V." The text from the cited article: "With coining, the top tool crushes sheet into the opening of the bottom tool, down to the bottom of the V opening." You can't just copy text and change two words. Sorry - I answered on your talk page, not mine. Getting used to a set of rules takes time, as I've learned from working on Project Gutenberg Distributed Proofreaders.

Overlinking[edit]

Thanks. I wasn't quite satisfied with how the linking was going -- I knew WP must have a philosophy on it, but couldn't find it. The more I roamed around, the more articles related to grinding I found, too, and should be linked just so they can be separated or combined as the project goes along. I'd like to know more about what "see also" references are ideally meant to do--maybe you can point me to something specifically on that subject. Some I found were just plain weird.
The philosophy for see also links can be found at WP:SEEALSO. In a nutshell, it's for links that ought to be integrated into the article, but haven't been yet. Wizard191 (talk) 15:44, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment.
