Her paternal grandmother and mother were / are almost certainly not Jewish (her grandmother's parents both had Italian last names). I think it is possible that Yustman's paternal grandfather was Jewish or of Jewish descent, but it's really hard to say. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 22:16, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, do you guys really say that in the US? I can understand African-American or Asian-American, but Jewish-American? How do you call non-Jewish people, do you have denominations like Christian-American? Atheist-American? Some people do say that, but very few would say things like that in day to day conversation. Why was that in the lead sentence anyway? Most other biographical articles don't mention race/religion in the opening sentence. Unless for some reason her Judaism is particularly notable it shouldn't be there, and definately shouldn't be hyphenated. Mad031683 (talk) 17:33, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The term "Jewish-American" is certainly used (i.e. Italian-American or Irish-American), for example the White House's Jewish American Heritage Month. But no, her ethnicity shouldn't be in the opening, per WP:MOSBIO (it should be later down in the article). However, I am not convinced with this reference, "The Jewish People's Almanac" 2007. I can't find any evidence that this book really exists (there were previous editions, but nothing on 2007). Does anyone have any proof that this reference is valid? I have to say, I've never heard the term "Jewish-American" used in a positive context outside Washington. And what Washington does isn't always necessarily connected to reality, no matter who's in office. But if you say it's used, I'll bow to your judgment.

Jewish is an ethnicity and a religion...One can be Christian and still Jewish (ethnically). So Jewish-American is fine. To the IP, if it is so clear, then you should have no trouble finding a credible source stating as such. New Unborn Poster Shows Off Odette Yustman's... Assets...[edit]

I've been tryin to add this but some jackass around here keeps on removing it. Heres some proof, provided by here, "Empire Online snagged the int'l poster for David S. Goyer's (The Dark Knight) latest, The Unborn. The film (and poster) features Cloverfield's Odette Yustman as a young woman who may be slowly falling prey to a spiritual possession. We like the bold statement this poster makes. Yes, the movie should be pretty freaky. Yes, it was written and directed by one of Hollywood's biggest new hitmakers...but it also has Odette Yustman's butt...and that goes a long way in this business." There does that work, motherfucker?!

Um, from what I can see after a quick skim of the article's history, I think the problem goes two ways. The administrator here who continued to revert what you tried to add did so because your edit clearly seem to be nothing more than NPOV fangush — to put it mildly — over that revealing poster. Not until your last edit did you clarify by adding a source that indicated it might be otherwise. I suggest you add more refs that back up what you say in future editing, in order to avoid further such confrontations. To confirm Cinemaniac's recap, that is the exact reason it was removed. It appeared to be an unsourced statement that was not written in encyclopedic fashion. With the source provided in the article, my objection was addressed. Alansohn (talk) 02:45, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"She was engaged to Trevor Wright." Meaning, what, she's not engaged any more? Also, Trevor Wright's wiki article makes no mention of Odette, which is odd. Or is it a matter of tense?
