Questionable neutrality[edit]

This article was obviously written by a medical assistant who's trying to convince the world that he/she does more then take blood pressures, draws blood, and files charts. The comparisons to Physician Assistants and Medical Doctors is laughable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.190.121.178 (talk) 02:23, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the article for more worldwide pespective, clearly distinguishing country-specific information from general overview. Some editing for neutrality, backed by non-partisan references (e.g. official national and international labour classification standards). Guptan99 (talk) 17:40, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have re-edited this article (the first paragraph) as it was extremely condescending. Medical assistants can be certified or registered, certified medical assistants have to be enrolled and pass an accredited program, registered medical assistant's have to pass the AAMA exam but are not required to be enrolled in an educational institution. CMA's usually obtain an associates degree upon completion on the medical assisting program. LVN's DO NOT have an associates degree, RN's only have an associates degree, BSN's have a bachelors degree, and MSN's have a masters degree. LVN's are usually the type of nurse employeed in the clinic setting. Nurses are primarily trained for the hospital setting and CMA's are mostly trained in the clinic setting. In most cases CMA's DO NOT work under nurses, only doctors. No, medical assistants are not close to a doctor or a PA but neither are LVN, RN, or BSN nurses. The edit I made to this article appropriately reflects medical assisting. Kasey D. Sorry, registered nurses clearly rank well above medical assistants in both training and competence. There's a disturbing fairly recent trend in certain clinics favoring medical assistants over nurses for one reason only: because medical assistants come cheaper. The result is inevitably a reduction in the quality of treatment. TheScotch (talk) 08:35, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Page Feedback[edit]

Hello, I am taking a class that is requesting I give feedback on a talk page regarding an article. For this article it seemed as if there was lots of accurate information but not a lot of citing where the information came from. There is also an underrepresentation of other countries in the article. There is lots of information about medical assistants in the US but the information for Canada and Malaysia is rather short in comparison. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to offer feedback on this article. -Mtscott (talk) 03:44, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

History?[edit]

There is no history on this profession. When did it start? I never heard of it in my youth. 164.47.179.32 (talk) 23:45, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
