Just to let those know who are particularly interested in the maintenance of this article: compared to a few weeks ago, the first paragraph now looks like total crap, and the statement in "e.g. USA, where they are required to be registered" is completely false. As far as my input toward the article... there are enough "self-appointed" guardinans here who in the past have taken over nicely when it came to so-called SPAM links. Why not step up to the plate now?

Remember, maintaining a "world wide view" although important may not necessarily apply here. The category (see disambiguation) is: healthcare providers in the U.S.. The U.S. however, has rules and regulations that can differ from state to state. That will also make it very challenging to maintaing the "world wide" view. Therefore, thaking this in consideration, I'd say the annotation of the article that is does not maintain or "... represtent a world wide view" is not needed here. --Danni R. 17:07, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Or, if Wikipedia's main goal is to keep content neutral and global (world wide view) then surely this article does not belong here at all, since it is not. This particular article, as stated, can never reflect the desired "world wide view" because it pertains to U.S. Health Care Providers. There is enough information available elsewhere, especially on the Internet, and libraries across the country. As a better informed Wikipedian I happen to see eye to eye with THB and many others here. I totally agree. The Medical Assistant(MA) article is regional, therefore does NOT reflect a world wide view. Anything that does not fit should go. We clean up one thing, we must also clean up others. Rules are rules. I vote for deletion. --Danni R. 17:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

My name is Danni R., I am a gal, not I guy, and I have contributed to this Wikipedia, and especially to the Medical Assistant article going on two years. I am a medical assistant, and well known for my efforts to bring medical assistants together in the Internet via free learning and networking resources. I own and manage not only the biggest and best known medical assistant websites and web forums for medical assistants on the Internet, I also work and teach in this field. So, consider me an expert among experts. My contributions, up until last week were done as a guest and so are all logged under my verizon.net dynamic IP number. I felt very very insulted but must say, that I am sure, there were no bad intentions on Wikipedia's behalf. I can all too well relate on unwanted links and SPAM.

So, giving Wikipedia members the benefit of doubt, I ask for the same back. I am indeed an active Wikipedia supporter, have made contributions of knowledge and money to the cause, and had only the best intentions when adding the two resources -SPAM removed-. Here are some of my other contributions, however, no need to go back two years! Please note that I always annotated my contributions and edits in the true spirit of Wikipedia. I have nothing to hide, and always made my intentions clear.

Due to my ongoing efforts on my own time and thousands of dollars annual out of pocket expenses to maintain these enormaous websites and web forums, xxx-thousands of new and experienced medical assistants across the country know who I am. And so... last but not least here are my latest contributions to Wikipedia (to defute the statement that the only thing I ever did was to add my own links).

Just a simpe response: What was removed were not links. I was very careful not to post links. What was removed was text. The text was the menition of a domain name, but not a hyperlink to a web site. However, I am completely done with this. Interesting is though, how different people see and interpret things differently. What I feel is SPAM might not be SPAM to someone else. What I consider a link, or rather hyperlink, may not be one in someone elses. And on and on it goes... It makes me smile. It must be a tough job for the administrators and the SPAM patrol.

Anyway, thanks for the well intended guidance and efforts. I will make sure I pay it forward in the true sense of Wikipedia. Peace. --Danni R. 14:59, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Copyediting

Minor copyedits performed (idiom, punc&spell, passive voice). Also changing lead to stronger "the...tasks that keep (them) running smoothly" from "tasks...to keep". Would rather see "the...tasks that enable (them)...to run smoothly", as it's stronger still (aren't MA's the how and why it runs, not just people who "keep" someone else's smooth-running office?), but I'll wait on that a bit in case the original contributor has thoughts on this. Edits made to make the listing less US-exclusive by (i) including references from other countries (Canada) and to the International Standard Classification of Occupations, not just US Bureau of Statistics, and (ii) giving examples of equivalent titles in other countries for cross-referencing.
